On a modern LCD TV screen, white (or any color) vertical lines appear when the individual “tab bonded” wire connections of the ribbon cable servicing a column of pixels on the LCD display begin to fail. It could also be a loose connection of the ribbon cable between the t-con and display.

Subsequently, question is, why has a line appeared on my TV? When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.

If your flat-screen TV has the dreaded vertical lines, half of the screen has turned darker, the screen is cracked, or the screen is broken, this can be repaired but may cost more than you paid for the complete TV. If your screen is cracked or broken, you can try replacing the Screen, LCD, Plasma, or LED part.

The appearance of static or flickering horizontal lines on a computer screen can be frustrating and inconvenient, but there are many steps you can take to try to fix your problem. This guide will walk you through various checks and fixes you can perform on your computer and its monitor to find out why the lines are appearing and what to do to make them disappear.

Horizontal lines on a computer monitor can be caused by overheating or physical damage to the monitor and connecting cables. Conflicts between the screen and selected screen resolution and refresh rate settings can also cause line problems, as can out-of-date device drivers and operating systems.

Try a different monitor. If possible, try connecting to a different monitor or screen. It can help you determine if the lines are caused by your computer’s screen or the computer itself.

Check your monitor while it’s disconnected. Keep your monitor powered on, unplug it from your computer, and look for any flickering or lines on its screen while it’s disconnected. If you see any kind of distortion, this means that your monitor is damaged.

Close and reopen your laptop. Close your laptop’s screen, wait a few seconds, and reopen it again slowly. Look to see when the lines begin to appear on the screen as you open the laptop. If the lines only occur at a certain angle, the cause is likely damaged wiring.

Check the monitor connection. Ensure all of the cables are securely connected, and watch for any improvements in screen image quality while you’re inspecting the cables. If you notice the image improves or worsens while touching the connecting cable, it may need replacement.

Remove magnets and electronics. If you have other electronics or magnetic devices near your computer, screen, or the connecting cables, move them somewhere else as they may interfere with the connection and cause the lines.

Reset your monitor to its factory settings. If you’re using an external monitor or screen, use its built-in settings, not your computer’s settings, to reset it to its factory settings. You can usually access these settings via a physical Settings or Menu button on the computer monitor itself.

To fix coloration and distortion on a computer screen, power the monitor on and off, restart the computer, and make sure the cable between the monitor and computer is connected securely. If you"re using a CRT screen, try degaussing the monitor. You can also try adjusting your video card"s quality settings and experimenting with your monitor"s adjustment buttons.

To fix screen burn on a monitor, also called "ghosting," try turning off your display, ideally for at least 48 hours. Also, try setting your screensaver to an all-white image and letting it run for a few hours. You can also try using the JScreenFix tool, which fixes stuck pixels.

Cause: There are several possibilities that can cause white lines on an LCD screen. One would be high temperature on the logic board. Logic board drives the LCD panel and when it overheats can cause this display problem.

Solution: One solution would be to clean the vent holes around the TV. One possibility that I have experienced myself servicing is a bloated capacitor on the power supply board. The worst possibility is a defective LCD panel, which is costly to repair, and sometimes it’s more practical to buy a new TV set.

Cause: There are two IC’s on the mainboard and that probably caused the IC to overheat, which in turn caused the main controller board to malfunction. They may be possible panel failure. No signal from the mainboard to the LCD panel is the usual cause of solid white screen or flickering white screen.

If you have a white screen with error V3.41.0 flashing along the top, try this first– I pressed Exit and OK buttons together and was able to then click on input/source and bring up the HDMI input and, Hey, Presto! all working again.

The most common cause for the white screen is missing 12V supply for the panel. Sometimes though, it can be something very simple like a loose LVDS cable on the panel side. If this is not the case, then you will need to check the 12 V supply on the LVDS cable on the main board side (usually 2-4 pins on the end/beginning of the connector). If the 12 V is there, you should check it is secured onto the panel, where the LDVS connects to.

My iPad was given to me last summer of 2014. Today, its been 3 years and still alive. No dents, or even a crack. But then last month when I woke up, the screen of my iPad just had some vertical white lines all over the screen! I don"t know what to do. It just doesn"t go away. When I use it in full brightness then make the iPad so hot, I lock it and open it up and the white lines are gone but when the iPad cools down and I would put down the brightness, the white lines would flash back again. What do I do now? Is it an LCD issue? I just recently bought a replacement LCD from iFixit and its on its way. I wish that would solve the problem.

I dont think the backlight is the problem. My mini isnt dark or has some dark areas on the screen. My screen also does burn in whenever I watch a steady image. So I think the lcd really is the problem right?
