Vespa has always been known for its attention to the finishing touches and the GTS Super is no exception. The new scooters sport a modern look that incorporates technological advancements and finishing touches that may not immediately catch the eye, but make a subtle difference. There’s no better example of this than the classic Vespa “tie” which has been redesigned to create an even more distinctive and original impression.

Has anyone had first hand experience, or seen in reviews of the new 2023 GTS what sort of functionality the additional LCD will have when connected to the Mia app? Specifically regarding GPS. It seems in the middle of the screen there is space for either text or an arrow to provide some GPS/Navigation information, and the information out there seems to confirm it will have SOME functionality with the Vespa app, but not what functionality exactly? Not really interested in taking calls or listening to music while on the Vespa, but directions would be great. None of the reviews I"ve seen on YouTube really dive into that part of the new GTS for some reason.

Trying to decide between SuperTech or GTS Super, and the ability to get some degree of navigation information without a phone mounted to my Vespa is really appealing, even if it"s just a one line text of "turn left in 0.5 mi" or whatever.

It is the first large Vespa to adopt fully digital instrumentation thanks to its 4.3″ colour TFT screen. Providing both riding parameters and general trip statistics, the screen also serves as an interface for the VESPA MIA connectivity system, which allows full communication between rider and scooter. Available in 2021 to celebrate Vespa’s 75th anniversary as a true citizen of the world, a glamorous new special series, Vespa 75th, has been created for the Vespa Primavera 150 and Vespa GTS 300 cc. As with the very first Vespa, the Vespa 75th body is all-steel and presented in “Giallo

75th”, an original metallic yellow, developed specifically for the new series as a contemporary interpretation of hues in vogue of the 1940s. The colour, ‘Zolpho’ evokes heritage, innovative spirit, and a fashion-loving style of Vespa. The side panels and front mudguard display the number 75 in a slightly stronger shade, creating a quietly elegant tone-on-tone effect, which is repeated on the front shield traditional “tie” in opaque pyrite yellow.

A special saddle in smoke grey with piping, wheel rims painted in grey with a machine finish, and a host of chrome-plated detail, including the horn cover, instrument cluster surround, muffler cover, the rear-view mirrors, and, on the GTS , foldaway passenger footpegs.  The chrome rear luggage rack, distinctive to Vespa 75th, provides a mount for the 75th embossed round bag shaped to replicates the original spare wheel holder. Made from velvety-soft nubuck leather in the same colour as the saddle, the bag has a shoulder strap for easy carrying, and clips on the luggage rack with a quick-release mechanism and waterproof cover. The series is identified with a plate behind the leg shield (not numbered).

The Vespa 75th represents the top of the Vespa range: all the models of this anniversary version are equipped with a 4.3” TFT colour display, while the fully digital instrument cluster makes the best possible use of the capabilities of the Vespa MIA smartphone connectivity system.

For 2019, the entire Vespa GTS range is further improved, with a series of updates to boost performance, comfort and style. The new Vespa GTS range, packed with standard equipment, now comprises five versions: Vespa GTS, GTS Touring, GTS Super, GTS SuperSport and the brand-new, technological Vespa GTS SuperTech, with colour TFT display that maximises connectivity to the smartphone with the VESPA MIA system.

Two engine sizes are available, the already well-known and appreciated 125 i-get single-cylinder is now joined by the new 300 hpe (High-Performance Engine), the fruit of the latest Piaggio Group technology, which aims to create engines that are increasingly advanced and efficient in terms of limiting emissions and consumption. Able to deliver nearly 24HP, this is the most powerful engine ever adopted by a factory Vespa.

Modifications have also been made to update the design of the new Vespa GTS, while still retaining certain distinctive traits: the front headlight and rear lights now adopt full LED technology. The front section also features a redesigned shield.Also new is the shape of the handlebar, the chrome crest of the front mudguard, the rear view mirrors and the grilles to the sides of the shield, characterised by a brand-new honeycomb motif. At the rear, the side panels undergo a restyling, running under the body, while versions driven by a 300 HPE engine stand out for a new engine crankshaft cover and a new silencer cover.

The new Vespa GTS boasts the latest evolution of the 300 cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine with electronic injection. Known as 300 hpe (High-Performance Engine), the unit has increased performance while at the same time reducing fuel consumption. With respect to the previous version, maximum power comes in at 23.8 HP at 8250 rpm, which translates into a 12% increase, while maximum torque, equating to 19.2ft-lbs at 5250 rpm, has been boosted by 18%.

All models in the new Vespa GTS range are also available with a 125 i-get electronic injection engine, with four valve distribution and liquid cooling.  Engines in the i-get family stand out for the adoption of the Piaggio patented Start & Stop system known as RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System). The 125 i-get engine is accredited with power of 12hp at 8250 rpm, and a torque value of 8ft-lbs at 6750 rpm.

VESPA MIA connectivity system allows you to connect your smartphone to the Vespa GTS on-board electronics system via Bluetooth. VESPA MIA and the new Vespa app are specifically designed to connect iOS or Android mobile devices to the latest Vespa models equipped with an instrument cluster with TFT display: Vespa Elettrica, Vespa Primavera S and Vespa Sprint S, and the brand-new model in the Vespa GTS range, the SuperTech version.

Once connected the TFT display will clearly show all notifications relating to incoming calls and messages in the centre of the screen. The system also allows for call management via a joystick and the use of vocal commands to make calls or listen to music, by activating a playlist. To fully enjoy all these functions, Vespa GTS SuperTech offers a special dedicated Jet helmet as an accessory, the helmet complete with built-in earphones and Bluetooth intercom.

The technical equipment of the Vespa GTS Super Tech adopts a new suspension which, while maintaining the classical single arm with pin pulled, in the Vespa tradition, has been totally redesigned in order to reduce frictions during run, offering comfortable and stable riding experience even on the bumpy road and at high speed.

ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) uses the ABS electronics and sensors to compare the wheel speed rotation of the two wheels. When the sensors detect the rear wheel speed exceeds that of the front, the control unit intervenes cutting the engine toque by spark advance reduction and, if necessary, also on the injection system to prevent slippage and prevent loss of vehicle control . These solutions put Vespa on the top level regarding safety and technology.

With new full LED lights, the Vespa GTS Super Tech is more appealing than ever. There’s also a new LED rear light that is combined with the running lights to showcase the scooter’s distinctive design and increase its visibility out on the road.
