After more than a year of dealing with a horrible ice maker in my refrigerator, I was fed up with the constant need to de-ice and wait forever for just a few cubes. Since the weather has warmed up, we"re going through a lot more ice (hello ice tea!) so I run it every 3 days or so. I tend to set my watch timer for 30-60 minutes so I don"t forget to remove the ice for storage. While it sounds like a lot of monitoring, it"s really not a big deal if I"m already going to be home. After each use, I wipe down the machine and drain the reservoir about every 2 uses. While bulky, it"s light enough for me to bring it to the sink to do so. Because I have harder water, I also wipe it down with vinegar to remove any buildup. All the effort it worth it to me. The machine makes a lot of ice, the shape is great, it does not melt very quickly, and the cubes look fantastic in a cocktail! :) Hoping this thing has some longevity, but so far, so good.
