Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the 2018 version of the Speed Triple S and Speed Triple RS. The Speed Triple brings an updated 1,050 cc inline-three cylinder engine and gets 105 new parts on the roadster.
The updated 1,050 cc Speed Triple engine produces 150 PS at 10,500 rpm and 117 Nm at 7,150 rpm of torque, with an improvement of seven percent and four percent from the previous versions.
The company has also brought smaller starter motor, new profile pistons, redesigned cylinder heads, and a new sump with a re-routed oil system to reduce the weight and improve the performance of the Speed Triple RS. The new silencer by Arrow on the RS is also expected to be more louder than the previous one.
A new introduction that will make the bike more fancier is the five-inch TFT display. Instead of the conventional display the company has introduced the new screen for an improved experience on both the bikes. The Speed Triple S is the base model, while the RS is the higher-priced variant with few differences including Öhlins suspension in place of the Showa on the Speed Triple S.
The bikes now rev higher by 1,000 rpm than the past models and the Speed Triple brings five riding modes, cruise control, standard-fit ABS and traction control. There"s a 6-speed transmission which gets a slip-assist clutch and fully-adjustable suspension. Triumph has also introduced back-lit 5-way joystick switch cubes.
The Triumph Street Triple R acts as the entry into the British manufacturer’s ‘Roadster’ lineup for 2022. However, there’s very little about this motorcycle that you’d consider entry-level. The Street Triple moniker has been around for over a decade now, during which period it’s undergone multiple changes. For 2022, the Street Triple R remains essentially unchanged over last year’s bike, but there’s still a lot that makes this bike stand out from its competitors.
At the heart of the 2022 Triumph Street Triple R is a liquid-cooled, inline 3-cylinder engine that produces 116 hp and 57 lb-ft of peak torque. Triumph has paired this engine to a 6-speed gearbox that features a bi-directional quick-shifter that the manufacturer refers to as Triumph Shift Assist.
The Street Triple R comes with a comprehensive suite of rider aids, including ABS, switchable traction control, and three riding modes — Road, Rain, and Sport. Unlike its better-equipped sibling — the Street Triple RS — with a full-TFT display, the ‘R’ gets a multi-functional LCD instrument console that lets you toggle through the aforementioned rider modes.
Like last year, the Triumph Street Triple R is joined by the Street Triple R Low, which is essentially the same motorcycle with a different suspension setup and a 1.77-inch lower ride height for better accessibility, in the 2022 Triumph motorcycle lineup.
The all-new aggressive attitude, poise and styling of the new Street Triple range sets a whole new benchmark for performance and agile dynamic easy handling.
A new category benchmark-setting top spec Street Triple delivers even more triple engine power and torque, more aggressive styling, poise and attitude, and even better technology. It’s the ‘Ultimate Performance Street’.
No, you haven’t developed numeric dyslexia, the Triumph 675cc Street Triple is now a 765cc Street Triple although there is still a 660cc learner-approved model available.
The R has 87kW of power at 12,000 revs, four riding modes, new angle-adjustable, full-colour TFT instruments with 5’’ screen, fully adjustable Showa suspension, switchable ABS and Brembo M4.32 radial monobloc front brake calipers.
The Daytona-derived 765cc Street Triple engine has more than 80 new parts including an increased bore and stroke, new crank, pistons and Nikasil-plated aluminium barrels.
Street Triple R and RS feature new, angle adjustable, full-colour 5” TFT instruments with a gear shift indicator and a choice of three different screen displays pre-set to the riding modes.
The learner model has revised LCD instruments allowing the rider to select modes on the move or at a standstill. Info displayed includes odometer, fuel gauge, trip meter and journey distance.
All 2017 Street Triples feature new headlights. R and RS have brighter LED Daytime Running Lights while the S has new LED position light headlights which are 4.6 times brighter than the previous generation bulb sidelight.
Triumph has introduced a gullwing swingarm that they claim increases longitudinal torsional stiffness with less lateral stiffness for more agile handling and greater stability at highway speeds.
The Street Triple S comes with Showa separate-function, upside-down 41mm forks with 110mm travel and a stepped preload-adjustable piggyback reservoir monoshock.
Street Triple S has a black powder coated main frame, sub-frame and swingarm, the Rfeatures Triumph’s signature red rear sub-frame and wheel pinstripes, while the RS has a new matt aluminium silver painted rear sub-frame.
Heading into turn 1 at Circuit de Catalunya at an indicated 144mph, the slipper clutch, operated by a super-light clutch lever, keeps the rear wheel in check as you bang down through the gearbox and engage the mighty Brembo M50 brakes to rapidly haul down the digits on the display. It"s an intoxicating experience.Triumph
But it doesn’t end there. Triumph has integrated a series of engine modes via the electronics package. Riders can choose between five modes on the RS: rain, road, sport, track and rider. Full power is available in every mode - even rain - but how the power is delivered is the main difference. Rain, road, sport and track are hopefully self-explanatory offering differing amounts of throttle response, traction control and ABS, but rider mode enables the rider to adjust the levels of traction control and ABS to suit their riding ability and track conditions.Triumph
So is this the best Street Triple to date? Yes. The electronics package and large TFT display bring it firmly into 2017. The slipper clutch, quick shifter and Brembo front brakes make it a track weapon to reckon with. The finishing and detailing ooze quality and class. The 765 is all we ever wanted in a Street Triple. Buy one.
The new Speed Triple 1200 RS is Triumph Motorcycles’ flagship model in the “Roadsters” range. It is powered by a 1160cc inline 3-cylinder engine that has been built from the ground up using insights from Triumph’s Moto2 race engine programme. The new motor is significantly more compact, lighter, and more responsive when compared to that of the previous-gen Speed Triple. It has been tuned to produce 180PS of max power at 10,750rpm and 125Nm of peak torque at 9000rpm. There’s a 6-speed gearbox that comes along with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
Being a flagship product, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS is loaded with a bunch of advanced electronics. It has the latest generation switchable optimised cornering traction control, cornering ABS, front-wheel lift control, and 5 riding modes. Triumph has also added a full keyless system. Apart from that, the “My Triumph Connectivity System” is also a part of the package. It allows smartphone integration for turn-by-turn navigation, GoPro control, phone control, and music operation. The new Speed Triple’s 5-in TFT display has an improved user interface and an optically bonded screen for excellent visibility.
Some of the other key features of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS include new twin-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, all-new lightweight chassis, stainless steel 3 into 1 header system with underslung primary silencer and side-mounted secondary silencer, Metzeler Racetec tyres, and X-ring chain. The suspension setup includes fully adjustable Ohlins 43 mm NIX30 USD forks and Ohlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock. The stopping power comes from twin 320mm floating discs accompanied by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers at the front and a single 220mm disc at the back.
Keeping your new Street Triple 765 safe from harm, frame and swingarm protectors complement those distinctive and aggressive lines, while engine cover protectors, made to blend in perfectly, offer subtle yet effective damage mitigation in the event of a drop.
Paddock stand bobbins add convenience for routine maintenance tasks and a top quality Triumph-branded cover will ensure your bike remains immaculate and ready for the next ride.Frame protectors
