I just upgraded from a 1366x768 LCD TV to this and it"s phenomenal. I would say that I"m less of a laymen when it comes to tech, so don"t just take my word for it. I don"t know what to look for when judging a monitor"s performance but I"m quite pleased.

I"ve never used one myself because of their increased response times but since it probably won"t affect you, people often prefer the look of an IPS panel monitor. Here"s a cheap one but it is only 23.8" if that"s alright:

I"m mid-build, and deciding on a monitor. I"ve narrowed it down to 2 choices. The Acer KN242HYL has an IPS panel which will give you great colors and viewing angles, but a 4ms response time if that"s a big deal to you. The BenQ GL2460HM has a TN panel which doesn"t have wide viewing angles like an IPS, but does have a 2ms response time. Each are VESA mountable, meaning they can be hooked up to a monitor arm, and both have glossy bezels. Which one looks best for you?

A nice monitor changes everything though, if you"re using a cheap TV as one then I would 100% recommend getting a nice flat panel screen as your #1 upgrade. I"ve gone through my fair share of monitors and personally BenQ ended up really growing on me. The quality is super sharp and they"re wayyy cheaper than the big brand equivalents (Samsung, LG, etc). At home I currently use a 27" for games/movies and a secondary 24" for browsing/chat/text though both do the exact same thing and have the same menus and settings.
