No matter where LCD screens are kept, they will always need cleaning from time to time. Cleaning an LCD may seem like a daunting task, but there are a few simple ways to clean it without damaging to scratching to surface.

It is recommended to use a simple alcohol solution to clean an LCD screen. This solution is made up of part distilled water and part 50% isopropyl alcohol. Be warned that isopropyl alcohol is flammable.

Do NOT use tissues/Kleenex to wipe your screen. That is ineffective, because they will leave little tissue particles all over your screen. You want a 100%-cotton cloth that is soft and absorbent. A t-shirt is a good cloth, but so is a sock or a Turkish towel, so long as it is 100% cotton.

Stay away from cloth that has polyester in it because this can contain stiff filaments. These filaments can scratch the screen while you are rubbing over it. Also stay away from paper towel and tissues. While it might feel soft, remember that it is paper and therefore, it comes from wood. This means that there might be microscopic wood fragments in the paper towel that will scratch your screen if you move it over it. Therefore, avoid anything paper and instead, focus on the cotton.

First dampen the cloth with the alcohol solution. You should never spray any sort of liquid directly onto the screen. You also don’t want to try and clean the screen without some sort of liquid because the dust particle, as it is moved across the screen, will scratch.

Be careful not to let the cleaning solution leak into the sides of the monitor. Also, be certain that you do not press hard on the LCD screen. You can permanently damage an LCD screen by pressing on it too hard.

If there is just dust on your screen, there is no need to fully clean it. To remove dust all that must be done is to wipe it away with a microfiber cloth. Simply wipe your screen from end to end gently with the cloth.

The good news is that cleaning a computer screen is more simple than you think. You only need a soft cloth, a tiny bit of water, and the most delicate of touches.

As you would expect, not all screens are created equal, and some are more delicate than others. The safest way to figure out the proper care for your screen is to search for the make and model of your device, find out if it has an LCD, LED, or some other type of display, and search for the manufacturer’s instructions on how to care for it.

If you want to skip all that, there’s an easy way to avoid making a mistake that might not only result in irreparable damage to your screen but to your entire device. According to Joe Silverman, owner of New York Computer Help, a tech repair center in New York City, no matter how much money you spent on your computer or tablet, it probably has an LED or an LCD screen if you bought it within the last three years—and neither type benefits from window cleaner or highly concentrated alcohol.

Caring for your screen is simple—it only takes a little bit of water and a dust-free cloth, such as a microfiber wipe or the piece of fabric that came with your glasses.

Pour a couple drops of water on your cloth. Forget paper towels or the sleeve of that soft cotton t-shirt you love—microfiber is your best bet. Still, no matter how soft it is, a dry wipe could always leave micro-abrasions on your screen. The moisture will also help gather dust and particles while lifting grease from your display.

Use circular motions starting in the center of your screen and moving outward, so you don’t leave any streaks. If you can see any droplets or water traces on the glass while you clean, you’ve used way too much water. Gently dab the residual H2O with an absorbent cloth or tissue paper and start again.

If you’re dealing with next-level gunk, you can use isopropyl alcohol at 70 percent or lower, Silverman says. “That percentage is very important,” he explains. “We’d only use 90 percent or higher on dummy parts that don’t have sensors, like top cases and keyboards.” In these extreme cases, spray the alcohol on the cloth, never directly on the screen, and wipe it gently.

The best way to avoid damaging your screen while cleaning it is to simply keep it from getting dirty in the first place. If you have a laptop, cover the keyboard with a thin microfiber cloth before closing it to prevent finger grease from transferring to the screen. If you have a touchscreen, wash your hands often before you use it, but make sure you let your hands dry completely before you start tapping—the soapy water or liquid hand cleanser from your fingers can easily end up on the screen and corrode it.

Silverman explains that most iPhones and Samsung phones, for example, have screens made out of one thick piece of glass. These, as opposed to computer screens, have all the LCD layers fused together, making them much more difficult to damage. Still, if you’re using alcohol, he recommends keeping the concentration at 70 percent or lower, using a soft cloth, and applying only low pressure to get rid of any accumulated gunk there.

Be especially careful with charging ports, as contact with water (also present in rubbing alcohol) can damage the electronics inside your smartphone. Newer models often are resistant to liquids, but there’s always a threshold to how much they can withstand. And you probably don’t want to know what that is.

The short version? Don"t use liquids, don"t press too hard, don"t use any traditional cleaners. Microfiber cloths are good, but be gentle. Modern TVs are predominantly plastic and therefore far easier to scratch than windows or your phone.

Want the longer version? Here"s what the top TV manufacturers say about cleaning their screens:Cleaning your 4K, OLED, or LED TV screen with a soft, dry cloth is recommended. The goal here is to avoid scratching the screen. Gentle, circular motions tend to give better results, since the circular motion hits each area from several angles in a single swipe.

To clean the frame and screen, gently wipe it with a microfiber cleaning cloth. Make sure to wipe the TV frame and screen as gently as possible. TV screens are fragile and can be damaged when pressed too hard.

Important: Never use any type of window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, wax, or any cleanser with solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or acetone. Never use abrasive pads or paper towels. If you do, you can scratch the screen or strip the anti-glare coating off the screen and cause permanent damage. Never spray water directly onto the TV. Make sure to wipe the TV as gently as possible. TV screens are fragile and can be damaged when pressed too hard.Gently wipe the screen or the exterior with a dry, soft cloth, such as an eyeglass cleaner.

For inks from oil markers on the screen, soak a cloth in a non-soap synthetic cleanser diluted (by less than 1% ) with water. Squeeze the cloth tightly to eliminate excess liquid, then wipe gently to remove the ink. Use non-soap cleansers cautiously because it may cause environmental problems when disposed improperly.

At last count, I found a billion companies making TV screen cleaners. Almost all of these are something like 99 percent water, 1 percent other stuff. Years ago I tested a handful and found them, on average, to work well enough. If you don"t have luck with a simple cloth and possibly distilled water, a screen cleaner is worth a try, and as a bonus you can also use it for your laptop, tablet and cell phone screens. Plus, they come with a microfiber cloth. If they don"t clearly state they don"t contain alcohol and ammonia, however, I would skip them.

My advice? Get a nice microfiber cloth (if your TV didn"t come with one), and use that. If that doesn"t fix your smudges, try a cloth moist with water. Don"t press too hard. There"s less than a millimeter between your finger and a broken TV.

When cleaning a television screen, two different techniques work extremely well. The first technique focuses on spraying down a microfiber cloth and wiping the Televisions screen. Alternatively, you may spray a minimal amount of non-ammonia based cleaner onto the TVs screen and gently wipe it away. These two techniques are proven safe and will not result in any permanent damage to your TV’s screen, as long as you follow the necessary detailed instructions when performing the cleaning.

Many products that are not made specifically for cleaning electronics will harm your television. If regular tap water is used on the television screen, a visible residue will appear after the water has dried. Instead of utilizing tap water, you may choose to use distilled water combined with a microfiber cloth. The combination of distilled water with the microfiber cloth will cause any dust on the screen’s surface to cling to the damp cloth. Distilled water will also ensure that the anti-reflective coating on your TV’s screen does not become worn-out.

When choosing to utilize the lens cleaner technique, you will also want to use a clean, soft microfiber cloth that does not shed any fibers. If the microfiber cloth does shed fibers, you will find that sometimes after you’ve already cleaned the TV, you have to clean it again. This is due to the small static electricity charge produced when wiping the TV’s screen, which will attract the fibers of a microfiber cloth.

The first option entails simply spraying the microfiber cloth down with the cleaning solution and using that to wipe the television screen. If this is the method that is chosen, you will want to be cautious of the amount of solution used. Ideally, the cloth should only be slightly damp after you’ve sprayed it down.

Accidentally applying too much solution onto the microfiber cloth and using the excessively wet cloth on the TV screen may result in permanent damage. When too much cleaning solution is applied to the TV screen, the cleaner tends to run down the screen into the bezel and any other nearby electronics.

Alternatively, you may mist the TVs screen directly with a small amount of the cleaning solution that you’ve chosen. Immediately after misting the screen, you will want to gently wipe away the mist with a microfiber cloth. If this is the option that you would like to utilize, be sure to be extremely careful to not spray too much cleaner onto the television – as this may drip onto the bezel along with any other nearby electronics very rapidly, resulting in permanent damage.

Microfiber cloths are commonly located in the automotive aisle of any big box store, and the lens cleaner can often be found bundled in kits for eyeglasses. Alternatively, Amazon possesses an extensive assortment of microfiber wipes and appropriate cleaning solutions that can be shipped directly to your door.

When performing a deep clean on your TV remote, all you need when performing a deep clean is rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, which comes in a solution or a spray cleaner. Typically, you’ll find this at your local grocery, pharmacy, or hardware store as a 50% water and 50% isopropyl alcohol mixture. Combine this with a clean toothbrush, q-tips, and a microfiber cloth.

Next, use the isopropyl alcohol mixture and spray the microfiber cloth down, but you’re going to want to be sure to not overspray, leaving the cloth dripping wet, as that may cause damage to your remote.

If there are any tighter crevices that the cloth couldn’t get to, use a q-tip sprayed with the isopropyl alcohol-water mixture and deep clean between the buttons. Once finished, put the batteries back inside of the TV remote. You can rest easy knowing that the dirtiest part of your home is now the cleanest.

G02F1/133784—Surface-induced orientation of the liquid crystal molecules, e.g. by alignment layers by treatment of the surface, e.g. embossing, rubbing or light irradiation by rubbing

The present invention relates to a rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in an LCD manufacturing process and also to a rubbing method which is conducted using the same. The rubbing machine is used to determine the direction of alignment by rubbing an alignment film coated on a substrate disposed on a stage. In this rubbing machine, an realigning section for realigning a rubbing cloth is disposed on the portion of a rubbing roll in such a manner that the realigning section be in contact with the rubbing cloth.

The present invention relates to a rubbing machine for use in a liquid crystal display manufacturing process. More particularly, the present invention relates to a rubbing machine for use in a liquid crystal display manufacturing process, and also to a rubbing method which is conducted using the same, in which the rubbing machine has a realigning function of a rubbing cloth and is suitable for use in a rubbing process involved in the manufacture of a liquid crystal display panel and for use in the fabrication of equipment for manufacturing a liquid crystal display. [0002]

A rubbing process, in which an alignment film coated on a substrate is rubbed with a cloth and the like to determine the direction of alignment, is a critical process in an LCD manufacturing process. Recently, in addition to twisted nematic (TN) mode, various modes including in-plane switching mode, fringe field switching (FFS) mode, and optical compensated bend (OCB) mode were proposed and applied to products. [0004]

A common point between these modes is that rubbing directions of upper and lower substrates is parallel to each other (0° or 180°). This parallel rubbing is not a special case. Actually, the case where the rubbing directions of the upper and lower substrates are parallel to each other is rather predominating, and the TN mode where the rubbing directions of the substrates are 90° may be regarded as a special case. [0005]

In the case of the parallel rubbing, rubbing uniformity is a very important factor that is linked directly with image quality. Since IPS mode and FFS mode are designed as a normally black mode, images in a dark state are determined by the rubbing uniformity. [0006]

However, as shown in FIG. 1, it is difficult to achieve uniform rubbing conditions in the mass production concept, so that poor image quality significantly occurs due to rubbing non-uniformity. [0007]

A rubbing cloth is generally formed of a velvet-shaped cloth where short and thin piles are implanted on a base cloth. Also, the rubbing cloth is mainly made of cotton or rayon. [0009]

These piles have elastic force and restoring force so that they rub the substrate while exhibiting some buffer action even on the non-uniform portions of the alignment film and the substrate. However, in the mass production concept, there are large amounts of work that one rubbing cloth will perform. Thus, if non-uniformity at a fixed position is continued, it then exceeds the buffer limit of the rubbing cloth and affects the rubbing cloth, so that the surface of the rubbing cloth corresponding to that portion will be non-uniform. [0011]

Accordingly, as the rubbing working progresses, rubbing of the substrates that are rubbed later becomes increasingly non-uniform. Thus, in the case of the parallel rubbing, the amount of work conducted by one rubbing cloth is significantly limited as compared to TN mode. [0012]

Meanwhile, there are innumerable non-uniform factors that can occur during a process. These factor include non-uniformity of a rubbing state, glass edges, TFT patterns and lines formed in an array, pixels and black matrixes of a color filter, and column spacers. In this case, a problem is that they are factors necessary for LCD panels. Thus, eliminating such factors to solve the rubbing non-uniformity is not possible. [0013]

Meanwhile, once a new rubbing cloth is attached on a rubbing roll, it is subjected to an aligning step of rubbing several times a test substrate (dummy substrate) such as a glass substrate, before it is applied for a mass production process. This aligning step is generally called “aging technique”, i.e., a realignment technique of the rubbing cloth. It was found that this aging technique was effective even in realigning the rubbing cloths having non-uniformity occurred at the start and middle of a process. [0014]

Moreover, this realignment technique of the rubbing cloth is highly effective in lengthening the life span of the rubbing cloth and in maintaining higher process quality. [0015]

As shown in FIG. 2, the realignment technique of the rubbing cloth is one in which several or several tens of mass production substrates A are rubbed and one or several sheets of realigning substrates, such as a glass substrate having a flat surface, are then rubbed. [0016]

By these realigning substrates inserted between the mass production substrates contributing to non-uniformity, the rubbing cloth whose non-uniformity have been deepened is reduced to an initial condition of a process. [0017]

Furthermore, in applying this realignment technique of the rubbing cloth, inserting the realigning substrates B between the mass production substrates A is a troublesome operation, and the realigning substrates B are mixed with the mass production substrates A so that poor image quality can be caused. [0018]

As a result, as long as a rubbing machine has a function capable of realigning the rubbing cloth by itself without separately inserting the realigning substrates B, the problem of causing the poor image quality can be solved. [0019] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in an LCD manufacturing process, and a rubbing method using the same, by which the poor image quality caused by the non-uniformity of the rubbing cloth can be solved, a margin for the rubbing process can be increased, and a rubbing cloth can be used for a longer period of time. [0020]

To achieve the above object, in one aspect, the present invention provides a rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in an LCD manufacturing process, which is used to determine the direction of alignment by rubbing an alignment film coated on a substrate disposed on a stage, the rubbing machine being characterized in that an realigning section for realigning a rubbing cloth is disposed on the portion of a rubbing roll in such a manner that the realigning section is in contact with the rubbing cloth. [0021]

In the rubbing machine according to the present invention, the realigning section is preferably formed in a circular arc shape for increasing a contact area between the realigning section and the rubbing cloth, or it is formed into a stick pad shape. [0022]

In another aspect, the present invention provides a rubbing method which is conducted using a rubbing machine which is used to determine the direction of alignment by rubbing an alignment film coated on a substrate disposed on a stage, the method comprising the steps of: inserting a realigning test substrate between mass production substrates; disposing a realigning section on a rubbing cloth attached on a rubbing roll; and rubbing the substrates by running the rubbing roll on the substrate under a desired pressure.[0026]

FIG. 1 is a drawing showing that the non-uniformity of a rubbing cloth according to mass production substrates occurs, in a rubbing machine for use in an LCD manufacturing process according to the prior art and a rubbing method using the same; [0028]

FIG. 2 is a drawing showing that the non-uniformity of rubbing cloth occurs when a realigning substrate was inserted between a plurality of mass production substrates, in a rubbing machine for use in an LCD manufacturing process according to the prior art and a rubbing method using the same; [0029]

FIG. 3 is a drawing showing that a rubbing roll runs on mass production substrates and realigning substrates, according to one embodiment of the present invention; [0030]

FIG. 4 is a drawing illustrating one embodiment of the present invention in which a realigning section is formed on a rubbing cloth of a rubbing roll in a general pad shape and circular arc shape; [0031]

FIG. 6 is a drawing illustrating another embodiment of the present invention in which the portion of the realigning section coming in contact with the rubbing cloth is formed in a curved shape; and [0033]

Hereinafter, a rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in an LCD manufacturing process and a rubbing method using the same will be described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. [0035]

As shown in FIG. 3, in order to realign a rubbing cloth, realigning test substrates [0036] 20 are first inserted between several mass production substrates 10. At this time, the number of the realigning test substrates 20 and a material of forming the test substrates can be suitably selected without departing the sensible scope of the present invention.

Moreover, the rubbing machine is formed in such a manner that the rubbing roll [0037] 30 having a rubbing cloth 35 attached thereon rotates while it runs on the substrates 10 under a desired pressure. In this case, since the portion of the rubbing cloth 35 coming in contact with the substrates 10 corresponds to the portion of the roll 30, the remaining portion of the rubbing cloth can be sufficiently realigned.

As shown in FIG. 4, a realigning section [0038] 37 for realigning the rubbing cloth is attached on the portion of the rubbing roll 30. In this case, although the realigning section may be made of any material capable of exhibiting a realigning effect, it is preferably made of the same material as that of the substrate. Also, the shape and area of the rubbing roll may be selected without departing the sensible scope of the present invention. Namely, as shown in FIG. 4, it can be formed in a circular arc shape 37 bhaving an area larger than that of a general pad shape 37 a.

The realigning section [0039] 37 is a section serving to realign the piles of the rubbing cloth by contacting with the rubbing cloth. The realigning section 37 may be formed in a stick pad shape. Although the portion of the realigning section 37 coming in contact with the rubbing cloth 35 may be made of any possible material, it is preferably made of a material equal or similar to that of the substrates.

Moreover, the realigning effect may be adjusted depending on a contact pressure and a contact area between the realigning section [0040] 37 and the rubbing cloth 35 and also on a rubbing cloth depth (i.e., interval by which the contact face of the realigning section presses the pile tip of the rubbing cloth).

Meanwhile, FIG. 5 shows another example of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5, a realigning section of a rubbing roll [0043] 50 is formed in two parts 57 aand 57 b,or a contact area of the realigning section is divided into two parts or more, such that the contact area can be adjusted, if required.

However, possible step heights of the rubbing cloth can cause damage to the rubbing cloth and also possible step heights of the rubbing cloth-realigning pad can cause damage to the rubbing cloth. Thus, because of the step height of the realigning pad, the non-uniformity of the rubbing cloth can occur and the life span of the rubbing cloth can be reduced. [0044]

For this reason, in order to solve the shortcomings which can occur in the above embodiment of the present invention, the realigning section [0045] 67 can be formed in a curved shape 67 awith no step height, as shown in FIG. 6 showing another example of the present invention. As a result, since the curved shape 67 ahas no step height, the problems of the non-uniformity of the rubbing cloth and the life span reduction of the rubbing cloth, which are caused by the realigning pad, are eliminated. In FIG. 6, the reference numeral 60 indicates a rubbing roll, and the reference numeral 65 indicates a rubbing cloth.

Meanwhile, FIG. 7 shows another example of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 7, a realigning pad [0046] 97 is disposed on a stage 80 for fixing a substrate 70. In this case, the same effect as described in the above embodiments is obtained, since a rubbing roll 90 or the stage 80 having a substrate 70 fixed thereon runs so that the rubbing cloth 95 comes in contact with the entire surface of the substrate 70.

As apparent from the foregoing, the rubbing machine with realigning functions for use in the LCD manufacturing process and the rubbing method using the same according to the present invention has the following effects. [0047]

Namely, according to the present invention, the poor image quality caused by the non-uniformity of the rubbing cloth can be solved, a margin for the rubbing process can be increased, and the rubbing cloth can be used for a longer period of time. [0048]

The present invention relates to a rubbing cloth and an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), and more particularly to a rubbing cloth for aligning a liquid crystal, method of manufacturing the same, apparatus for manufacturing the same and method of manufacturing an LCD using the same.

In general, an LCD apparatus displays image information using electro-optics properties of a liquid crystal. Some LCD apparatus transmits a light when an electric field is not applied to the liquid crystal. But some LCD apparatus intercepts a light when an electric field is not applied to the liquid crystal, and transmits the light when the electric field is applied to the liquid crystal.

Some LCD apparatus intercepts a light when an electric field is not applied to the liquid crystal, and the LCD apparatus transmits the light when the electric field is applied to the liquid crystal.

The alignment film is as a polyimide thin film layer. When rubbing the alignment film against a rubbing cloth toward the uniform direction, an alignment groove is formed on the alignment film. The alignment of the liquid crystal is performed by means of the alignment groove. The rubbing cloth wind around an outer circumference of a rubbing roller, and the alignment groove is formed on the alignment film by rubbing the rubbing roller having the rubbing cloth against the alignment film.

Hereinafter, manufacturing processes of the rubbing cloth will be described with reference to FIGS. 1A to 1F. Here, a term referred to as a “rubbing cloth fabric” indicates a cloth having a length and a width shorter than the length.

Referring to FIG. 1A, the rubbing cloth fabric 100 is manufactured by interweaving a weft 1 with a warp 2, the warp 2 intersecting the weft 1 and having a length longer than that of the weft 1. The rubbing cloth fabric 100 includes a rubbing pile 110 irregularly formed on the rubbing cloth fabric 100 as shown in FIGS. 1B and 1C.

Referring to FIG. 1D, a roller brush 200 for rearranging the rubbing pile 110 is disposed in a direction parallel to a width direction of the rubbing cloth fabric 100. The width direction is the same direction in which the weft 1 is formed on the rubbing cloth fabric 100. When the roller brush 200, which is in contact with the rubbing cloth fabric 100, is transferred, the rubbing pile 110 is realigned in a direction parallel to the warp 2. The realigned rubbing pile has been allowed to have a reference numeral “115”.

As shown in FIG. 1E, the rubbing cloth fabric 100 having the realigned rubbing pile 115 is cut into pieces. A piece of rubbing cloth fabric which is cut from the rubbing cloth fabric 100 is defined as a rubbing cloth 150.

The rubbing cloth 150 is attached onto a rubbing roller 300 which has a length longer than a width of the alignment film. In order to attach the rubbing cloth 150 onto the rubbing roller 300, the rubbing cloth 150 has a length similar to a length of the rubbing roller 300, and has a width similar to a length of the circumference surface of the rubbing roller 300. That is, the warp 2 of the rubbing cloth 150 is aligned along the circumference surface of the rubbing roller 300, the weft 1 is aligned in the length direction of the rubbing roller 300, and the rubbing pile 110 is aligned parallel to the weft 1.

As shown in FIG. 1F, when the rubbing roller 300, on which the rubbing cloth 150 is wound, rotates and simultaneously applies pressure to the alignment film 400, the alignment groove is formed on the alignment film 400.

However, when the alignment groove is formed by means of the conventional rubbing roller 300 to which the rubbing cloth 150 is attached, the liquid crystal cannot be precisely aligned with the alignment groove due to a scratch formed on the alignment film 400. It is difficult to totally control a tension of the rubbing cloth fabric 100 when the rubbing roller 300 is rubbed against the alignment film 400 along the warp 2. When the tension of the rubbing cloth fabric 100 is not precisely controlled, the rubbing pile 110 is irregularly distributed on the rubbing cloth fabric 100. Therefore, the liquid crystal cannot be precisely aligned with the alignment groove.

Also, when the alignment film 500 has a larger size than that of the rubbing cloth 150, as shown as reference numeral 500 in FIG. 1E, it is not possible to form the alignment groove by means of the rubbing cloth fabric 100 having a width shorter than that of the alignment film 500.

In one aspect of the invention, there is provided a rubbing cloth for aligning a liquid crystal, the rubbing cloth being formed by cutting a portion of a rubbing cloth fabric in a length direction of a warp on the rubbing cloth fabric, wherein the rubbing cloth fabric comprising: a warp having a first length; a weft having a second length shorter than the first length and being interweaved with the warp; and a rubbing pile aligned along the length direction of the weft.

In another aspect, there is provided a method for manufacturing a rubbing cloth for aligning liquid crystal, comprising: making a rubbing cloth fabric including a warp having a first length, a weft having a second length shorter than the first length and being interweaved with the warp, and a rubbing pile irregularly formed on the rubbing cloth fabric; aligning the rubbing pile in a length direction of the weft; and cutting the rubbing cloth fabric in a length direction of the warp.

In further aspect, there is provided an apparatus for manufacturing a rubbing cloth, comprising: a rubbing belt installed in a width direction of a rubbing cloth fabric, wherein the rubbing cloth fabric includes a warp having a first length, a weft having a second length shorter than the first length and being interweaved with the warp, and a rubbing pile formed on a surface of the rubbing cloth fabric; a pulley for receiving a rotating force and rotating the rubbing belt in response to the rotating force; and means for supplying the rotating force to the pulley.

In still another aspect, there is provided a method for manufacturing an LCD, comprising: fabricating a TFT substrate having a TFT, a power supply line for supplying a power to the TFT, and a pixel electrode for receiving the power outputted from the TFT; fabricating a color filter substrate having RGB pixels and a common electrode, and being coupled to the TFT substrate; forming a rubbing groove by rubbing a rubbing roller against an alignment film formed on the TFT substrate and the color filter substrate, wherein the rubbing roller is wound with a rubbing cloth formed by cutting a rubbing cloth fabric, and wherein the rubbing cloth fabric has a warp having a first length, a weft having a second length shorter than the first length and being interweaved with the warp, and a rubbing pile aligned along the length direction of the weft; assembling the TFT substrate with the color filter substrate; and interposing a liquid crystal between the TFT substrate and the color filter substrate.

According to the present invention, the rubbing cloth is formed by interweaving the warp with the weft having a length shorter than that of the warp and the rubbing pile is aligned parallel to the warp. Accordingly, it is able to manufacture the rubbing cloth having a various size without a length of the alignment film and increase yield of the rubbing cloth.

The rubbing cloth fabric 600 is fabricated by interweaving a weft 1 with a warp 2 having a length longer than that of the weft 1. The rubbing pile 118 having a length shorter than that of the weft 1 is disposed on the rubbing cloth fabric 600. The rubbing pile 118 is aligned at an angle about ±30 degrees with respect to the weft 1. Preferably, the rubbing pile 118 is aligned parallel to the weft 1 of the rubbing pile 118.

Disposing the rubbing pile 118 to have the direction parallel to the weft 1 is for precisely controlling a tension of the rubbing cloth fabric 600. When the rubbing pile 118 is aligned to have a direction parallel to the warp 2 having the length longer than that of the weft 1, the tension of the rubbing cloth fabric 600 cannot be precisely controlled, and the rubbing pile 118 is irregularly aligned, so that rubbing processes are not precisely performed. When the rubbing pile 118 is aligned to have a direction parallel to the weft 1 having the length shorter than that of the warp 2, the tension of the rubbing cloth fabric 600 can be precisely controlled, thereby preventing the rubbing pile 118 from being irregularly aligned.

Hereinafter, a method for manufacturing the rubbing cloth will be described with reference to FIGS. 2A to 2C and rubbing processes performed by the rubbing cloth will be described with reference to FIG. 2D.

Referring to FIG. 2A, the rubbing cloth fabric 600 includes the weft 1 and the warp 2 having the length longer than that of the weft 1. The weft 1 is interweaved with the warp 2 in order to fabricate the rubbing cloth fabric 600. The rubbing pile 110 is irregularly disposed on the rubbing cloth fabric 600.

The direction that the warp 2 is formed on the rubbing cloth fabric 600 is defined as a length direction of the rubbing cloth fabric 600, and a direction that the weft 1 is formed on the rubbing cloth fabric 600 is defined as a width direction of the rubbing cloth fabric 600.

As shown in FIG. 2B, the rubbing pile 110 disposed on the rubbing cloth fabric 600 is realigned by means of a belt shape rubbing apparatus 700. The realigned rubbing pile has been allowed to have a reference numeral “118”.

The rubbing apparatus 700 includes a rubbing belt 710 for realigning the rubbing pile 110, first and second pulleys 720 and 730 for receiving a rotating force and driving the rubbing belt 710, and a motor 740 for supplying the rotating force to the first or second pulley 720 and 730 to rotate the first and the second pulleys 720 and 730. The rubbing pile 118 is aligned at an angle about ±30 degrees with respect to the weft 1 by means of the rubbing belt 710. FIG. 2B shows exemplary rubbing piles aligned at an angle of ±30 degrees with respect to the dotted lines that are parallel to the weft.

As shown in FIG. 2C, the rubbing cloth fabric 600 is cut to fabricate the rubbing cloth 800. Particularly, the rubbing cloth 800 is cut to have a width similar to the length of the circumference of the rubbing roller 300, and to have a length similar to the length of the rubbing roller 300.

Accordingly, it possible to prevent a scratch from being formed on the alignment film 400 due to the rubbing pile 115 irregularly disposed on the rubbing cloth 800 during rubbing process of the alignment film 400.

Also, even though the alignment film 400 has a size larger than the width of the rubbing cloth fabric 600, it is able to obtain the rubbing cloth 800 having a size appropriate to the size of the alignment film 400 by controlling a cutting length in the length direction of the rubbing cloth fabric 600.

The LCD includes a TFT substrate and a color filter substrate. A polyimide thin film layer is formed on the TFT substrate having a TFT, a gate line, a data line and a pixel electrode. A rubbing process is performed on the polyimide thin film layer so as to align the liquid crystal.

The rubbing cloth 800 wound around the rubbing roller 300 is fabricated by interweaving the weft 1 and the warp 2 having the length longer than that of the weft 1, and the rubbing pile 118 parallel to the weft 1 thereon is disposed on the rubbing cloth 800.

The alignment groove is formed on the polyimide thin film layer by rubbing the rubbing pile 118 of the rubbing cloth 800 against the polyimide thin film layer. The alignment groove is formed to have a direction parallel to the aligning direction of the rubbing pile 118, so that the liquid crystal is aligned parallel to the aligning direction of the rubbing pile 118.

The alignment groove is formed on the color filter substrate by the process similar to above process. The alignment groove is tilted by a predetermined angle with respect to the alignment groove formed on the TFT substrate. An LCD panel is manufactured by interposing the liquid crystal between the color filter substrate and the TFT substrate after assembling the color filter substrate with the TFT substrate. The LCD is manufactured by assembling parts such as a lamp, a light guiding plate, a power supply device, etc., with the LCD panel.

According to the present invention, the rubbing cloth is formed by interweaving the warp with the weft having a length shorter than that of the warp, and the rubbing pile is formed on the rubbing cloth and is aligned parallel to the warp.

Accordingly, it is possible to manufacture a various size of rubbing cloth regardless of a length of the alignment film, and to increase yield of the rubbing cloth.

Regularly cleaning your LCD monitor keeps it free of dust, smudges, and germs. Wiping with a dry microfiber cloth is the safest cleaning option and is surprisingly effective at removing germs. You may need to use a dampened microfiber cloth to get rid of stubborn smudges and stuck-on debris, though. If you"re worried about germs, consider using a vinegar and water solution or a Lysol wipe on the screen. Be sure to check the device’s user manual first to make sure it’s okay to use liquids!

Computer screens are not all made the same, and thus can"t all be cleaned the same way. You"ll want to be careful no matter your screen type, but it"s helpful to know that displays come in two categories:Glass-coated screens: The screens on newer iMac displays and MacBooks have a glass overlay. Glass displays are a little less delicate than LCD or LED screens, and mild cleaning solutions, like rubbing alcohol, are generally safe to use on them.

LCD or LED screens:Windows computers and most touchscreens and matte displays are typically not coated in glass. Extra care should be taken with these screens so not to damage the pixels that make up the display.

To clean a computer screen, you really just need two things: A microfiber cloth and filtered or distilled water. That"s to say you don"t need a special store-bought cleaning solution.

If you"d like some extra sanitation power, an equal parts mixture of water and vinegar is safe no matter your screen type. If you know that your display is glass-coated, you can also use an equal parts mixture of water and 70% rubbing alcohol. What you needTwo lint-free microfiber cloths

Wipe off dust with a dry cloth. Use a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to gently wipe away any visible dust and dirt. If necessary, apply gentle pressure to remove surface-level smudges.

If any marks remain, wipe with a lightly moistened cloth. For glass-coated screens, you can use a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar or rubbing alcohol. For LED or LCD screens, use only water. Spray or lightly dab the solution directly onto the cloth and carefully wipe the screen from left to right.

Buff with a dry cloth and air-dry.If any streaks remain once the screen dries, gently buff them with the dry cloth. Before you turn your computer or laptop back on, allow the screen to dry completely.Note:Apple claims that you can use 70% isopropyl disinfecting wipes to clean any Apple product. Just remember not to get any liquid into the device"s ports or openings — to avoid this, you might want to wring out the wipe to remove any excess liquid before using it.

Use only soft microfiber cloths.Even a fabric as soft as a cotton shirt has snags and uneven particles that can scratch a computer screen. For this reason, avoid T-shirts, towels, and paper towels. The exception is the Apple Pro Display XDR or iMac, which requires a special polishing cloth.

Never spray cleaning solution directly onto the screen. To avoid any risk of damage from excess moisture, mist the solution directly onto the microfiber cloth instead.

Do not scrub.Apply gentle pressure only. Hard scrubbing can damage the internal components of the screen and could leave scratches or spots of discoloration or dead pixels that won"t go away.Melanie Weir

Preparing the screen in screen printingresembles preparation of a template, where individual parts of the grid are covered, and a specific shape is obtained on the fabric. By means of screen printing, one colour is printed at a time as each colour is a separate layer. For this reason, screen printing is not particularly recommended for multicolour prints – in such cases, digital printing will work much better. Screen printing method can be used both with material beams (in such instance a rotational screen is used) or on ready-made clothing items (T-shirts, bags, accessories).

It is a printing method that involves the application of patterns and colours directly to the base, which in this case isa finished clothing product. The sewing of the product takes place before the printing process and the components are ready for use the moment they are removed from the printer.

As you can see, the DTG print carries a certain number of limitations. If you are not satisfied with the restricted form of printing on specific cotton clothing, we recommend you to consider printing on fabrics using the roll-to-roll method.

Keeping your precious rugged LCD monitors or LED screens clean and tidy can be challenging. This is especially true if you happen to have handsy young children who like to touch everything or pets running amuck in your household or even if you happen to work in a particularly messy environment such as a construction site or restaurant. Sometimes, rogue bits of debris can attach themselves to your electronic devices and while this is entirely out of your control for the most part, there are a few effective and harmless cleaning solutions you can put into practice to keep your electronics clean and running smoothly. Continue reading to learn about helpful tips for cleaning your LCD and LED screens without causing internal or external damage.

Before you can get down to the cleaning part, you need to prepare your LCD or LED screen in order to reduce the risk of liquids penetrating the surface and causing internal damage. Keep in mind that modern screens might technically include higher end features than the old school CRT screens from your childhood, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re more durable. In fact, modern LCD and LED screens are actually a lot more fragile and easily susceptible to damage if they’re not cared for properly. To prepare the screen for cleaning, make sure you shut down the system entirely, disconnect it from its power source, and then let it cool down for a few minutes. This will reduce the risk of electrocution and it’ll make it easier to clean the screen without resulting in annoying and unattractive streaks.

Occasionally, you’ll have to contend with a tough spot, streak, or fingerprint marking that takes a little extra effort to clean. If this happens, don’t panic and definitely don’t press down harder with a cloth or try to scrape it off with your fingernails or any other tool as this can cause severe damage to the top layer or anti-gloss coating. The best thing to do is use a non-abrasive cleaning solution such as isopropyl alcohol that’s diluted with either pure or distilled water. Spray the solution onto a microfiber cloth and gently wipe down the area in either an up and down or side to side motion. Applying too much pressure to even the most rugged touchscreen can compromise its limited durability.

There are a few types of cleaning cloths you can use to wipe down your rugged LCD monitor either at home or at work. The most recommended one is microfiber cloth for a multitude of reasons. First, microfiber is a state-of-the-art technological development that’s a thin and soft, yet strong enough material to thoroughly clean your electronic devices without risking damaging them in any way. Most of the time, computer and flatscreen TV manufacturers provide microfiber cloths with their products along with a specific set of maintenance and cleaning instructions. Microfiber cloths are immune to collecting or spreading lint across your screen, and because of the intricate way in which the minuscule fibers are intertwined these cloths are able to trap larger quantities of dirt and dust without leaving streaks. You can also use a cotton tea towel, a cotton t-shirt, or cotton handkerchief if you’re in a bind and don’t have microfiber cloths on hand.

This point can’t be emphasized enough. Even though it may seem like common sense that electronic devices shouldn’t come into direct contact with any liquids (especially if they’re still plugged in), not everyone seems to think so and many people have made the mistake of spraying cleaning agents onto their devices. The safer and smarter way to clean any rackmount LCD display is by first wiping it down with a dry cloth and then spraying a small amount of the cleaning solution onto a different cloth and wiping it down gently. After you do this, wipe it down with a clean dry cloth to remove any remaining liquid.

Always avoid using ammonia or rubbing alcohol based cleaners on your touchscreen devices. The devices themselves might be constructed with the capability to withstand most types of damages, but certain features they possess aren’t. Ammonia and rubbing alcohol can irreparably strip away or damage the extremely delicate anti-glare coating on the screen, which will not only negatively alter your viewing experience but also make your device a lot harder to use in strong sunlight.

For extra measure, you can also spray the surface of your screen, computer keyboard, or even the vent on the back of the device with a can of compressed air to blast away any lingering and stubborn debris or dust. If any of it lands on the surface of the device, make sure to gently wipe it away with a clean cloth to prevent it from making its way back into your device. Implementing this cleaning method on a regular basis will ultimately help to guarantee the longevity and functionality of your device.

Remember when your LCD or OLED display had that brand-new, fresh-out-of-the-box shine, feel and look? You are in the right place if your display is now due for deep cleaning.

A microfiber cloth and distilled water is recommended for cleaning the display glass. Use Qtips and Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the printed circuit board.

Although distilled water is recommended for wiping the display glass, you can use a cleanser developed explicitly for cleaning displays. However, do not spray it directly onto the display. Spray a tiny amount of the cleaner onto a microfiber cloth first to avoid getting any cleaning solution inside the display.Never spray any liquids directly onto the display.A spray is too hard to control and confine. The fluids can seep into the other display layers or surrounding components and cause irreversible liquid damage.

Only use a microfiber cloth and don"t use chemicals to clean a resistive touchscreen.Disconnect the display from the power supply and remove any screen protectors or liners.

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is widely used to clean printed circuit boards (PCBs). Use a Q-tip or soft small bristle brush for scrubbing a PCB, and never use a paintbrush.Gently rub a Q-tip in Isopropyl alcohol.

Cleaning soldering residue on LCD with Isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip.Cleaning residue around soldering elements is not necessary if Newhaven Display performed the soldering.

First off, avoid corrosive substances! That means no alcohol- or ammonia-based cleaners (like diluted rubbing alcohol or Windex). These cleaners can damage your screen by stripping anti-reflective coatings, cause clouding, or worse. Monitors have come a long way from the giant glass bulbs of old-school CRT screens, but that means they"re a lot more sensitive too.

2. Wipe it —As for what you wipe with, microfiber cloth is your best friend. Microfiber is extremely soft (at a microscopic level) and known for attracting dust and absorbing oils. Most importantly, it won"t damage your screen. We like these(opens in new tab), or these(opens in new tab) if you want to step up to a more plush option.

3. Wet it —For a little bit of extra cleaning power, slightly dampen your cloth with distilled water (no impurities to cause accidental damage), but not so much that water can be wrung out of it. Remember, we don"t want liquid to run down the screen and collect in the edges and corners. If water alone isn"t doing the trick, mix a cleaning solution of 50 percent distilled water, 50 percent white household vinegar. Same deal as before—apply liquid to the cloth, not the screen.
