lcd panel destroys t-con supplier
If it was the lcd display, the lines would still be present regardless of the tcon i suppose. if it is a voltage issue blowing the tcon, the display is just a feedback loop through tcon to main board as opposed to the main board being the output to the tcon. is my thinking in the ball park on this?
So this image is from the new board ordered, after power cycling a few times while getting readings. it would turn on and then shut itself down. like the original board, now the tv stays powered on with the lines. once i disconnect the tcon, the lines disappear and the tv stays powered on with backlight. Off of what you had posted in your reply @oldturkey03 , it appears that the driver boards are connected to the powerboard and the lcd panel. the tcon board is connected to the lcd panel and the main board. if the driver boards and tcon are connected on this unit, it is internal and through the lcd it appears. it looks weird haha. but to trouble shoot the driver boards, i have disconnected each side of the lcd boards one at a time and the the tv will go through post and shut down.
The answer to your third question about the schematic diagram is that I don"t have it. In fact, there is a very limited amount of T-CON board diagrams available. Often I make my way by looking at the spec sheet of the various chips present on the board. Often you will find a typical application diagram for that chip. And sometimes it helps since the developer of that board used the same design as the one in the chip"s documentation.
In a few cases, you can find documentation about the LCD panel itself. Often the T-CON board comes with the LCD panel from the manufacturer. So you can find some information about the inputs and outputs of the T-CON board. AUO is an example of a manufacturer that sometimes provide this information.
But there"s a good news. Half of the display is ok. So you have a known good reference of the voltages going to the LCD panel on the good side. Take voltages measurements and compare both sides.
But there"s also the possibility that the problem lies on the connections to the LCD panel"s bottom board (or top board, depending on the T-CON board location). Re-seat all the ribbon connectors. If it doesn"t help the LCD panel may have a tab bonding issue. Be careful and apply pressure on the flex cables going from the bottom/top board to the LCD panel. You may have to carefully remove the LCD panel metal frame to apply pressure to the flex cables going to the glass panel.
I used to repair television sets, not just replacing circuit boards, I am talking about troubleshooting down to the component level and replacing the bad parts. Problem is, with the cost of the new television sets being so low, and with the cost of technical labor being what it is, repairing television sets these days is usually not economically practical. Also, many of the components (microprocessors and other flat pack IC"s) require special de-soldering and soldering equipment which makes it difficult, if not impossible, for the DIY people to try and make the repair. To replace the whole circuit board most times is not a viable option due to the high cost and to replace the LCD screen is usually more expensive than what the whole television cost.

Since the TCON is part of the LCD panel it is usually not included in service manuals for TVs. But this is not a big problem as long as you are able to find datasheets for the parts:
What you"re describing is high probability to be either a video processor or switcher IC fault (mainboard) or a T-con board (usually attached directly to the panel, between the panel and the LVDS cable to the mainboard). The T-Con and the panel are USUALLY sold as a matched pair; as in the T-Con is designed and firmware-specific to the particular panel. In many cases, even different product runs of the same panel will require a differently calibrated T-Con.
Fortunately, as the T-con is produced this way, you MAY be able to find a generic part by the LG Part no that will work most of the time but may have inaccurate color reproduction; in many cases these are pretty cheap and well-worth taking a gamble on resurrecting your screen.
Some screens may have an LED Driver between the mainboard and T-Con; this processes the LVDS signal to control the LED backlighting zones for dynamic contrast. It is usually a go/no-go part, but can kill all picture to the screen as well.
[EDIT] Almost 100% certain now; dead T-Con board. You"ll want to check the power rails to the T-Con and make sure they"re within spec before you change it. If you can find one. [/EDIT]
Here are 3 photos, not of the actual monitor but of one that I found a link to on the web, but mine is identical to this, the first one is of the thing with the back removed and shows the LVDS board at the bottom, the inverter for the screen lighting to the left and at the top under the cover is the T-Con board, the only other board that I can see in the bottom left corner (on the bottom) and holds the on/off switch and brightness up/down buttons all of which is working OK. I cannot see any other boards or leads disappearing off anywhere other then the 2 ribbon cables leaving the T-Con board and presumedly connecting to the screen?
For example, it could signal that the power supply is either failing or faulty. In other cases, it could mean you have not connected the HDMI cable well, or there is a poor connection between the processing board and the panel. But another cause could be the picture does not fit the screen exactly.
Sometimes vertical lines on an LCD display could mean a damaged T-Con board. The T-Con or timing control card controls the timing of pixels displayed on the screen. If your T-Con board is faulty, the only solution is to repair or replace it.
You can remove the T-Con board yourself and replace it with a new one. But if you choose the option, you will have to be careful not to destroy anything on the TV.
