Market forces made us endure screens interrupted with various sorts of notches and cutouts for a considerable time, but that’s all about to end soon. In the last few years, we have seen the Android community evolve from hating notches to being indifferent towards them. But living with the new wave of bezel-less, full-view display phones has convinced us that the world is better off without notches and it’s imperative that natural order be restored to our phone screens. (हिंदी में पढ़िए)

For now, most of the true full-view and notch-less display phones use Pop-up cameras or sliders, but a few tech giants including Samsung, Oppo, and Xiaomi have already demonstrated prototypes or released phones that place the front camera behind the screen.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is the world’s first commercially available phone with an under-display camera (UDC). The main screen of this foldable phone is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 22.5:18 aspect ratio, QXGA+ (2208 x 1768) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 374ppi. Thanks to that UDC, you get a 88.57 % screen to body ratio.

In our review of the device, we found the UDC to be discreet most of the time and is only evident in certain colored backgrounds and when you view it from an off-axis. However, it id definitely an engineering marvel and cool from a visual standpoint.

Rest, the device runs on a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage, 4400mAh with 25W fast charging, and a penta-camera setup.

Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 4 is yet another under-screen camera phone. It calls its implementation CUP (Camera Under Panel), but the mechanism is pretty much the same as the other under-display selfie cameras out there. Above its 20MP selfie camera lies 400ppi pixels of the screen. This display stretches 6.67-inches and sports 120Hz refresh rate.

It ships with Snapdragon 888+ processor, 8GB/12GB RAM, 128GB/512GB storage, 4,500mAh battery and has 120W wired charging, 108MP camera, and Harman/Kardon speakers.

Asus Zenfone 8 Flip has a 6.67-inch (2400 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ E4 AMOLED HDR10+ display with 90Hz refresh rate, 200Hz touch sampling rate, 110% DCI-P3 color coverage, up to 1000 nits brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. This full screen fascia is possible thanks to a flip camera module.

Legion Duel 2 is a gaming smartphone from Lenovo that’s envisioned to be used in landscape orientation primarily. The screen is a 6.92-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate, 1300 nits peak brightness, 111.1% DCI-P3 color gamut support, and 20.5:9 aspect ratio.

The front camera is present within a pop-up camera that raises from the right-hand edge of the phone. The logic is to allow players to stream their gameplay while playing in the horizontal orientation.

OnePlus was one of the first few Android OEMs to usher in a notch, and it’s also one of the first in the premium segment to get rid with OnePlus 7 Pro (review). It further continued the trend with OnePlus 7T Pro which comes with a gorgeous true full-view display with extremely narrow bezels.

The 90Hz refresh rate makes it super smooth, the resolution goes all the way up to 2K, and, there are those slick curves at the edges. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset paired with high-quality UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR4X RAM. On the downside, the 7 Pro is big and bulky, is missing the audio jack, and has a mediocre set of cameras.

What truly makes Oppo Reno 10X Zoom special is periscope-style 5X optical Zoom, that it offers at a significantly lower price than Huawei P30 Pro. The Reno 10X zoom (review) also has a unique take on pop-up camera that it calls shark fin design.

The elevating module opens like a fin and also makes room for the earpiece and LED flash. Anyway, the result is an immersive full-view AMOLED display that extends edge to edge. The Reno 10X Zoom has flagship-grade specs, including the Snapdragon 855, but all the tech housed within makes it a tad thick and heavy.

The Galaxy A80 is the only phone from Samsung with an AMOLED screen that extends edge to edge. Yes, even the high-end S-series and Note-series flagships rely on cutouts or punch holes to accommodate the front camera.

The Galaxy A80 implements the bezel-less, full-view screen using an elevating and swivel camera system. Thus the triple rear cameras also double as front selfie shooters. Perhaps this unnecessarily complicated design can be held responsible for disproportionately inflating the price. So, if you really consider an immersive full-view AMOLED screen from Samsung a top priority, you may consider the Snapdragon 730-powered Galaxy A80.

The 6Z (globally known as the Zenfone 6) is one of the most impressive phones we have seen from Asus in India. The 6Z (review) has a gorgeous and well-calibrated IPS LCD display that covers the entire facia. The selfie camera is housed in a flip module and this glass body phone houses a massive 5000mAh battery while being reasonably manageable.

The 6.4-inch screen has Full HD resolution which is quite sharp considering this is an IPS LCD and not AMOLED screen. This competitively priced Snapdragon 855-powered phone also has stereo speakers, 48MP primary camera, and runs an extremely close-to-stock version of Zen UI.

As is the case with most other Xiaomi phones, the K20 Pro is a great value proposition. Key features include triple rear cameras, 4000mAh battery with fast charging support, and MIUI 10 interface with fewer ads.

Oppo Reno, which is a trimmed-down version of the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom, has the same design with shark-fin pop-up and is also slimmer and significantly lighter. The handset has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display (Full HD) with around 87% screen-to-body ratio that targets DCI-P3 color gamut and is shielded by Gorilla Glass variant.

This one is missing 10X lossless zoom and Snapdragon 855, but the 48MP primary rear camera and SD 710 chipset should still be a good deal for light and moderate user.

Motorola One Fusion Plus rocks a 6.5-inch full HD+ notch-less TFT-LCD screen. It’s pop-up camera houses a 16MP sensor. Pivot and by the back you get a 64MP quartet.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 730G with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 5000mAh battery. There is support for 15W fast charging. There is Vanilla Stock Android software too in the mix.

The Realme X (review) is a very competent phone that includes trendy features like a full-view AMOLED screen with minimal bezels on three sides, in-display fingerprint sensor, and pop-up camera – all for a sub Rs. 20,000 price.

The handset also comes in catchy onion and garlic gradients that look extremely premium. Other highlights include VOOC 3.0 fast charging, 48MP rear camera, and Snapdragon 710 chipset.

Redmi K20 passes on most of what’s good with the Redmi K20 Pro at a lower price point. The handset has the same design as the Pro variant and the same immersive full-view AMOLED display.

The Redmi K20 is however driven by Snapdragon 730 and replaces the Sony 48MP sensor with a Samsung sensor of the same resolution. Other features include in-display fingerprint reader, Pop-up camera, and 4000mAh battery with fast charging.

The Vivo 15 Pro has been around for a while, but it’s still a relevant option, especially at the new price. Both the V15 Pro and V15 employ a pop-up front camera and have a full-view display. The Pro variant, however, benefits from a better AMOLED screen and is powered by Snapdragon 675.

The Oppo K3 is almost the same as Realme X, save for a few differences. The primary rear camera has a lower resolution 16MP sensor and the base variant gets relatively more RAM (6GB).

The Oppo K3 has a near bezel-less and uninterrupted AMOLED screen that measures 6.5-inch diagonally. The handset houses a 3765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support and runs Android Pie based Color OS.

Huawei Y9 Prime is the first Huawei phone in India to deliver a full-view screen. The IPS LCD display on the phone measures 6.59-inch and is full HD sharp.

The handset is powered by Kirin 710 octa-core chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other features include triple rear cameras, 4000mAh battery, and Android Pie based EMUI 10 software.

Samsung has developed one of the best full-view display devices globally. One such example of the same is the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The smartphone has a 6.9-inch dynamic AMOLED display complemented with a 120HZ refresh rate. The device has 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card. It is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9 series processor.

On the camera front, the smartphone has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 108MP primary shooter and two 12MP shooters. On the front, it gets a 10MP sensor for the sake of selfies and video calls. The device packs a 4500mAh battery along with fast charging as well as wireless charging support.

iQOO took the whole market by storm with the launch of the iQOO 9 Pro 5G. The smartphone stands as a strong competitor of devices like the OnePlus 9 Pro in the market. It comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that also has a 120Hz refresh rate to offer a smoother experience. The smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage in the high-end variant of the device.

For photography, the iQOO 9 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup including a 50MP primary shooter, 50MP ultra wide-angle shooter, and a 16MP tertiary shooter. The 16MP front sensor of the device makes sure that you get the best results while clicking selfies. The handset has a 4700mAh battery that also supports 120W fast charging. The charging tech of the device claims to fully fuel it up in less than 20 minutes.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro could be hailed as one of the best devices launched by the company so far. The smartphone has a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate The smartphone works on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for high-speed performance, It also has 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage to store all your data.

When it comes to the camera, the handset rocks a triple rear camera setup including a 50MP primary shooter, 50MP secondary shooter, and a 50MP tertiary shooter. No doubt the camera performance of the smartphone is better than most of its competitors. The smartphone draws power from a 4600mAh battery and also supports Hyper Charging 4.0.

The flagship devices by Vivo have always amazed the users in terms of camera prowess, performance, and display capabilities. Vivo X70 Pro follows the same trend with its 6.56-inch AMOLED display coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate. Though we will say that the smartphone lags behind in terms of the processor as it has a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. Apart from that, it has 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that cannot be expanded.

The smartphone rocks a quad rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary sensor, two 12MP sensors, and an 8MP sensor for delivering the best shots in both daylight and low light. On the front, the device has a 32MP front camera for clicking selfies and attending video calls. The handset is powered by a 4450mAh battery that comes with flash charging support.

The OnePlus 10 series failed to make an impact like the OnePlus 9 series due to the changes and experiments. Still, the OnePlus 10 Pro was something which the audience loved because of the specs. The device works on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The smartphone comes equipped with a Fluid AMOLED display and 120Hz refresh rate.

Furthermore, it flaunts a triple rear camera setup including a 48MP primary snapper, 50MP ultra wide-angle snapper, and an 8MP tertiary snapper. The smartphone has a 32MP camera at the front and it offers decent selfie shots along with allowing the user to attend video calls in HD. The device has a highly durable 5000mAh battery along with 80W superfast charging that completely charges the smartphone in less than 30 minutes.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE features a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 12MP primary shooter, a 12MP secondary shooter, and an 8MP tertiary shooter. On the front, it has a 32MP camera for the sake for selfies and video calls. A 4500mAh battery powered the handset and it also comes with fast charging support.

For most people, the road is just grey tarmac. For Porsche drivers, it is a playground. Connected by a sportily tuned chassis that really lets you feel the road. Porsche technologies, such as air suspension, intensify this feeling even more. Because nothing drives like a Porsche, apart from a Porsche.

The active all-wheel drive PTM with electronically controlled multi-plate clutch provides a fully variable distribution of drive force between the drive axles. For high traction, agile performance and safety, even in adverse conditions.

The optional air suspension with PASM adaptive damping gives the Macan outstanding comfort and uncompromising dynamic performance. Thanks to three-stage self-leveling, it can adapt to many driving situations. The additional Loading Level control makes it easier to access the luggage compartment.

PASM is an electronic active damping control system. It regulates the damping force based on current road conditions and driving style. Through three programs – "Normal", "Sport" and "Sport Plus" – you gain noticeably in comfort or driving dynamics depending on the driving situation.

The optional Sport Chrono Package with mode switch provides even sportier tuning of the chassis, engine and transmission settings. With the re-designed mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, you can choose from four driving modes: "Normal", "Sport", "Sport Plus" and "Individual". The Sport Response button provides maximum engine and transmission performance for 20 seconds. The Launch Control function ensures maximum acceleration from a standstill.

The super-sized brakes of the new Macan models are finely tuned for optimum performance, even during continuous use. Typical distinguishing features are the standard black brake calipers on the Macan and red units on the Macan S and Macan GTS.

The combination of cast-iron brake discs and ceramic coating not only shines with its red brake calipers, typical of a GTS, but also with excellent corrosion resistance and greatly reduced formation of brake dust.

Some things impress from the first moment. Or the first glance. And some things do even more to us. They take our breath away. At Porsche, we take everything that inspires us a notch further. So that drivers can feel even more of what they already love: the sensation of driving a Porsche. And the Macan GTS represents this sensation: more of what you love.

Bringing more color into play: unlike other models, elements of the front fascia, rear fascia and SportDesign side skirts are painted in exterior color, the spoiler of the front center section in matte black, characteristic of all GTS models.

The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivers 434 hp and a top track sped of 169 mph (with summer tires). 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 secs with Sport Chrono Package. Highlighting this performance, the standard Sport Exhaust System conveys an authentic, spine-tingling engine sound.

The new standard Sport air suspension with height adjustment and PASM was developed specially for the Macan GTS and features retuned dampers optimized for maximum driving pleasure and grip. Lowered by 10mm compared to the optional air suspension of the new Macan and Macan S, it gives the GTS a dynamic presence, while connecting you even more closely to the road.

Maximum individuality and an even more purposeful design – these are the characteristics of the Macan GTS with new GTS Sport Package. In combination with an exclusive exterior color – such as the new Python Green – components trimmed in Satin Black provide extraordinary accents, e.g. the rear fascia or the impressive 21-inch GT Design wheels with performance tires. The side blades, among other items, are in High Gloss Black. Inside, the GT Sport steering wheel, adaptive Sport seats with comfort memory package (18-way) including "GTS" logo on front headrests, and above all, sporty, exclusive materials: Carbon Fiber, Race-Tex and an enhanced leather interior, are sure to impress. Color accents round off the look – for example, optional Python Green.

The new standard 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels were inspired by the Porsche race car of the same name. The lightweight wheels captivate with their multispoke design in Satin Black.

The combination of cast-iron brake discs and ceramic coating not only shines with its red brake calipers, typical of a GTS, but also with excellent corrosion resistance and greatly reduced formation of brake dust.

The interior of the new Macan GTS makes the hearts of sports car fans beat faster: thanks to the standard GTS leather package with Race-Tex. The material with motorsport roots is used on items that you touch frequently. It is robust and extremely tactile, therefore, perfect in a sports car.

The optional adaptive Sport seats in the Macan GTS feature raised side bolsters for more support – especially when driving enthusiastically. They also feature "GTS" logos on the front headrests and seat centers in Race-Tex.

Dark titanium, 20” Macan S wheels, Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), mean you get a highly dynamic driving sensation, while exterior details in Agate Gray Metallic make sure you get noticed.

A striking detail at the front: the wing, wide and extremely sporty. On the Macan T, the wing is painted in Agate Gray Metallic to match the sideblades, exterior mirrors, roof spoiler and logos on the rear.

The LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) with static and dynamic cornering lights are just the thing to light up the streets perfectly. Unmistakably Porsche: the four-point daytime running lights.

The driver and passenger sport seats at the front with electric 8-wayadjustment, seat centers in Sport-Tex with stripes in silver and Porsche Crest on the headrests offer a comfortable yet low sporty feel.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is an electronically-controlled suspension system with 3 manually controllable maps and regulates the shock absorbing force depending on road conditions and driving style.

Toyota City, Japan, November 5, 2019―Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announces that it commenced sales of the new "Raize"*4 at Toyota dealers nationwide on November 5.

The new Raize is a compact SUV small passenger car that measures less than four meters in length. It caters to the desires of customers who want to drive an SUV, who want to load their cars with a lot of luggage, but who also wish to have a car that is compact and easy to drive. The car was developed to be "active, useful*5, and compact." Easy to use both for leisure on weekends and for everyday use, the Raize provides daily support for customers in a variety of active scenarios.

The new Raize is the first compact car produced by Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu) to incorporate its next-generation car making platform, DNGA*6, which anticipates product development for both Toyota and Daihatsu brands. All aspects of the car―including its platform and powertrain unit―have been newly developed, with the goal of realizing outstanding levels of driving performance, luxury, safety, and peace of mind.

The new Raize features a compact body just 3,995 millimeters long and 1,695 millimeters wide. It is equipped with impressively large 17-inch tires*7 and protruding fenders, which provide the sense of power and stability unique to SUVs.

As for driving performance, the Raize"s newly developed light-weight, highly rigid body and suspension contribute to outstanding handling stability and ride comfort. By combining a 1.0-liter turbo engine with D-CVT―used in a Toyota vehicle for the first time*9―the car achieves the torque and driving joy of a 1.5-liter engine, as well as outstanding fuel efficiency. D-CVT*10 adds split gears to existing CVT belt drives and uses both belt and gear drives at high speeds for improved transmission efficiency. The gear-ratio range has also been expanded to provide powerful and smooth acceleration at low speeds and fuel-efficient and quiet performance at high speeds. The Raize comes equipped with the latest Smart Assist*11 safety features, including the Crash Avoidance Braking Function, which is capable of detecting both vehicles and pedestrians, and the Erroneous Start Prevention Function with braking control (forward and backward) *12.

The new Raize will be added to Toyota"s KINTO ONE beloved-car subscription service*13, which proposes a new user-car relationship, from November 12*14. With a desire to provide young people with as many opportunities as possible to enjoy a new car, the KINTO ONE monthly subscription rate for the new Raize is to start at 39,820 yen (including taxes), which will cover the price of the vehicle as well as necessary expenses such as voluntary insurance beyond the basic mandatory insurance.

Small passenger cars are defined as having a maximum length of 4,700 millimeters, a maximum width of 1,700 millimeters, a maximum height of 2,000 millimeters, and a maximum engine displacement of 2,000 cc.

According to measurements taken by Toyota Motor Corporation based on the VDA-method, when the deck board is in the low position; luggage capacity is 303 liters when the deck board is in the high position.

A monthly fixed-sum service that provides voluntary insurance payments, vehicle tax, registration charges, breakdown repair, and regularly scheduled maintenance of the vehicle in a single package.

The Raize is 3,995 millimeters long and 1,695 millimeters wide. Despite its compact size, the car achieves the dignified and robust appearance typical of SUVs thanks to its large 17-inch tires and protruding fenders.

A total of eight body colors are available, including the newly developed Turquoise Blue Mica Metallic, which emphasizes the active nature of the Raize. The car is also available in two-tone combinations of three body colors―including Turquoise Blue Mica Metallic―with a Black Mica Metallic roof*15, providing customers with a wide choice of color schemes.

The Raize"s instrument panel has been designed to ensure an outstanding field of view from the driver"s seat; the operational elements of the instrument panel face the driver"s side, while the gear lever has been positioned so that it can be easily operated by a simple extension of the left hand. In this way, the car realizes a driving space that allows the driver to concentrate fully on the road.

On the front seats, the angles of the side-support sections have been raised, while the back rest and side pads have been designed with differing levels of firmness. This new seat shape improves the feeling of support for occupants.

The LED digital speedometer and seven-inch TFT color LCD display are seamlessly integrated, appearing to create a single screen with a cutting-edge feel. The customer can choose between four display styles: Advanced, Exciting, Simple, and Analog.

The Raize"s compact body contains a spacious luggage compartment 1,000 millimeters in width, 865 millimeters in height*16, and 755 millimeters in length, with a movable deck board for improved convenience. When the deck board is in the low position, the car boasts class-leading luggage capacity for a compact SUV of 369 liters; when the deck board is in the high position, the rear seats can be collapsed forward to create a long, flat space capable of storing long items of luggage. The deck board can also be removed to load houseplants and other tall items, and so caters to a wide variety of customer needs.

Optimization of the Raize"s frame shape and the use of strong, light-weight high-tensile steel plates in the appropriate locations result in a highly rigid body, and contribute to stable vehicle behavior despite the car"s height.

MacPherson struts have been used for the front suspension, while torsion beams have been used for the rear. The suspension has been redeveloped from scratch, with optimized part shapes, reduced weight, and updated part positions and angles. It provides a stable ride with minimal roll, and quickly neutralizes any vibrations or impacts from the road surface.

The Raize combines a 1.0-liter 1KR-VET turbo engine with a D-CVT that incorporates a split gear―used in a Toyota vehicle for the first time―to realize the joy of driving and outstanding fuel efficiency. The powertrain provides the torque of a 1.5-liter-class engine at a variety of engine speeds, from low speeds upwards, which results in powerful acceleration. With regard to fuel efficiency, the 2WD models achieve 18.6 kilometers per liter in WLTC test cycles*17, while the 4WD models achieve 17.4 kilometers per liter.

Samsung Electric Industries was established as an industrial part of Samsung Group on 19 January 1969 in Suwon, South Korea.anti-Japanese public outcry and huge backlashes from the competitors fearing the outright subordination of the industry by the Japanese. The strategy was able to take off only after the government and Samsung declared that the company would exclusively focus on exports. Toshio Iue, the founder of Sanyo, played a role as an advisor to Lee Byung-Chul, Samsung"s founder, who was a novice in the electronics business. December the same year, Samsung Electric established a joint venture named Samsung-Sanyo Electric with Sanyo and Sumitomo Corporation. This is the direct predecessor of today"s Samsung Electronics.

The joint venture"s early products were electronic and electrical appliances including televisions, calculators, refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines. In 1970, Samsung established the joint venture Samsung-NEC with Japan"s NEC Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation to manufacture home appliances and audiovisual devices. Samsung-NEC later became Samsung SDI, the group"s display and battery business unit. In 1973, Samsung and Sanyo created Samsung-Sanyo Parts, the predecessor of Samsung Electro-Mechanics. By 1981, Samsung Electric had manufactured over 10 million black-and-white televisions.

In 1974, Samsung Group expanded into the semiconductor business by acquiring Korea Semiconductor, which was on the verge of bankruptcy whilst building one of the first chip-making facilities in the country at the time. Soon after, Korea Telecommunications, an electronic switching system producer and a Samsung Group company, took over the semiconductor business and became Samsung Semiconductor & Communications.

In February 1983, Lee, along with the board of the Samsung industry and corporation agreement and help by sponsoring the event, made an announcement later dubbed the "Tokyo declaration", in which he declared that Samsung intended to become a dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) vendor. One year later, Samsung announced that it successfully developed a 64 kb DRAM, reducing the technological gap between the companies from first-world countries and the young electronics maker from more than a decade to approximately four years. In the process, Samsung used technologies imported from Micron Technology of the U.S for the development of DRAM and Sharp Corporation of Japan for its SRAM and ROM.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, Samsung sold personal computers under the Leading Technology brand. However, the equipment was manufactured by Samsung, and the FCC filings from this period typically refer to Samsung products.

Lee Kun-Hee decided that Samsung needed to change its strategy. The company shelved the production of many under-selling product lines and instead pursued a process of designing and manufacturing components and investing in new technologies for other companies. In addition, Samsung outlined a 10-year plan to shrug off its image as a "budget brand" and to challenge Sony as the world"s largest consumer electronics manufacturer. It was hoped that, in this way, Samsung would gain an understanding of how products are made and give a technological lead sometime in the future. This patient vertical integration strategy of manufacturing components has borne fruit for Samsung in the late 2000s.

A complementary brand leadership strategy was also initiated by chairman Lee when he declared 1996 to be the "Year of Design Revolution" at Samsung. His objective was to build Samsung design capabilities as a competitive asset and transform the company into a global brand-design leader. However, this effort required major changes in corporate culture, processes, and systems. By integrating a comprehensive design management system and strategy into the corporate culture, Samsung was successful in developing an award-winning product design portfolio by the late 1990s, resulting in significant brand equity growth.

As Samsung shifted away from consumer markets, the company devised a plan to sponsor major sporting events. One such sponsorship was for the 1998 Winter Olympics held in Nagano, Japan.

As a chaebol, Samsung Group wielded wealth that allowed the company to invest and develop new technology rather than build products at a level that would not have a detrimental impact on Samsung"s finances.

Samsung had a number of technological breakthroughs, particularly in the field of memory which are commonplace in most electrical products today. This includes the world"s first 64MB DRAM in 1992, 256 MB DRAM in 1994, and 1GB DRAM in 1996.NAND flash memory chip, and a manufacturing deal was struck with Apple in 2005. A deal to supply Apple with memory chips was sealed in 2005, and Samsung remains a key supplier of Apple components as of October 2013, manufacturing the A7 processors inside the iPhone 5S model.

From 2000 to 2003, Samsung posted net earnings higher than five-percent; this was at a time when 16 out of the 30 top South Korean companies ceased operating in the wake of the unprecedented crisis.

In 2005, Samsung Electronics surpassed its Japanese rival Sony for the first time to become the world"s twentieth-largest and most popular consumer brand, as measured by Interbrand.

In 2009 and 2010, the US and EU fined the company, along with eight other memory chip manufacturers, for its part in a price-fixing scheme that occurred between 1999 and 2002. Other companies fined included Infineon Technologies, Elpida Memory, and Micron Technology.immunity to Samsung Electronics for acting as an informant during the investigation (LG Display, AU Optronics, Chimei InnoLux, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, and HannStar Display were implicated as a result of the company"s intelligence).

Despite its consistent expansion, Samsung, along with its chairman Lee Kun-hee, has developed a reputation for insecurity regarding its financial stability and the potential for future crises to arise. After returning from a temporary retirement period in March 2010, Kun-hee stated that "Samsung Electronics" future is not guaranteed because most of our flagship products will be obsolete in 10 years from now."
