fiat 500 tft display for sale manufacturer
Details on the 2015 Fiat 500, which will feature a handful of updates, have now been released a week before the car is showcased at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
The most significant change is a 7-inch TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) display in the instrument cluster, which places the speed readout prominently in the center, along with an image of the car.
These models are currently available only with a five-speed manual, while other gasoline 500 models are available with either a manual or automatic transmission.
Fiat has not released updated fuel economy numbers for 2015, but the 2014 500 is EPA-rated at 34 mpg combined (31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway) with the manual transmission, and 30 mpg combined (27 mpg city, 34 mpg highway) with the automatic.
The manual-only 2014 500 Turbo has identical combined and highway ratings to the non-turbocharged, automatic 500, but gains 1 mpg city, figures shared with the Abarth models.
The One-offs: the 500 Giorgio Armani, the B.500 “MAI TROPPO” [never too much] by Bvlgari and the 500 Kartell. The icons of Made in Italy interpret the New 500 in the name of sustainability.
The Fiat 500 is now an “Italian Icon and Honorary Member”of Altagamma, the association that brings together thebest Italian companies to promote national excellence around the world.
When a customer buys the New Fiat 500, they are granted access to “My Dream Garage”, the exclusive subscription mobility service from Leasys for “on-demand” bookings on all FCA Group cars.
“It"s time to take action to create a better future.” Planet Earth is going through a very delicate period, one unique in its history. We have all been called on to take action to create a better future. Fiat is taking on the challenge by bringing out its family jewels: the 500. Because the 500 has always kept pace with time. It changes when social needs change.
To picture the future of the 500, the Fiat brand started from what made it what it is. The same was true of the first generation, which offered mobility and freedom in the 1960s. The 500 represented a sea change, and became a much-loved brand. A car that was always on the crest of the wave, and that has established itself as an icon since its debut, 63 years ago.
With the second generation, launched in 2007, the Fiat 500 introduced the concept of coolness and charm to the city car, becoming an icon of Italian fashion and style that conquered the world. An ever-evolving model that has inspired artists and musicians over the past thirteen years, and has been the linchpin of more than 30 special series.
As mobility is expected to be more sustainable, connected and autonomous, with increasingly stringent regulations, the third generation of the Fiat 500 is once again at the fore, bringing with it design and driving pleasure. It is not just a revolution, but the “reincarnation” of a spirit, one that can inspire renewal. In fact, rules and regulations are not enough for a true revolution, something iconic and beautiful is needed: the New Fiat 500.
The path of change cannot be taken alone. We need partners with an equally positive outlook, who want to get involved in improving the state of the Earth, by sharing values and goals. Leonardo DiCaprio has embraced the New Fiat 500 project. The global megastar, who has been personally involved in protecting the Earth for more than twenty years, has offered his endorsement for the vision of the new electric city car. In the "All-In" video campaign, he invites everyone to make their own contribution, just like the Fiat brand did with the 500.
This vision is shared by other stakeholders – Giorgio Armani, Bvlgari and Kartell, three iconic companies in the world of Made in Italy, which, together with the Fiat brand, have breathed life into a strategy where sustainability is closely intertwined with excellence in know-how, creativity and innovation. This is how the One-offs, the three unique and exclusive examples of the New Fiat 500, came to be. To create these models with Armani, Bvlgari and Kartell, we took as a starting point the values of the iconic 500, the best-known Fiat city car in the world, by those who define the third generation. Combining these values with their own has resulted in three unique models of the New 500, characterized by style, creativity and craftsmanship.
This strategy aimed at improving the Planet also includes a charity auction. All the proceeds from the sale of the three unique models – the 500 Giorgio Armani, the B.500 “MAI TROPPO” by Bvlgari and the 500 Kartell – will go to one of Leonardo Di Caprio"s environmental organizations.
When designing the New 500, the engineers started with a blank sheet of paper, so they could work on every aspect with the utmost attention to detail and choose the best solutions.
Range and charging times are two key issues for customers. The lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 42 kWh give the New 500 a range of up to 320 km in the WLTP cycle.
To optimize charging time, the New 500 is equipped with an 85 kW fast charger system to charge the battery very quickly. For example, it takes only 5 minutes to build up a sufficient energy reserve to travel 50 kilometers, more than is needed for average daily use. And the fast charger can also charge the battery to 80% in just 35 minutes. The Combo 2 socket located on the rear right side panel of the car powers the fast charger, for both AC and DC charging.
Home charging solutions are also available. The launch edition of the new 500 includes the easyWallbox, a home charging system that can be connected to a normal home outlet. ENGIE EPS developed this exclusively for FCA, and it will be marketed by Mopar in Europe to coincide with the launch of the model. It is a simple, accessible “plug-and-charge” solution that can be managed easily via Bluetooth, letting you stabilize your energy load by charging your 500 immediately at home with up to 2.3 kW of charging power, with no need for any intervention by skilled personnel. Moreover, the easyWallbox is ready for a power upgrade to 7.4 kW, providing a full charge at home in just over 6 hours. The model also comes with a Mode 3 cable for charging from the public mains.
In particular, Sherpa mode optimizes the available resources to ensure that you will reach your destination. Sherpa driving mode works on several components to reduce fuel consumption to a minimum, precisely to ensure that you can reach either the destination set on the navigation system or the nearest charging station comfortably. Just like a “Himalayan Sherpa”, who is in charge of the whole expedition and guides it to the destination, this driving mode adjusts various parameters: maximum speed, limited to 80 km/h; accelerator response, in order to reduce energy consumption; and deactivation of the climate control system and heated seats (the driver has the option of activating them at any time).
“Normal” mode is as close as possible to driving a vehicle with a normal combustion engine, while “Range” mode activates the “one-pedal-drive” function. By selecting this driving mode, you can practically drive the New 500 with the accelerator pedal alone. In fact, releasing it causes much greater deceleration than with a normal combustion engine, almost as if you had pushed the brake pedal. In any event, you need to push the brake pedal to bring the car to a complete stop. However, in daily use and with more practice, you can eventually learn to drive it using the accelerator pedal only.
Intelligent Speed Assist reads the speed limits and recommends applying them, while Urban Blind Spot uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor the blind spots and warn of any obstacles with a triangular warning light on the wing mirror. Then there is Attention Assist, which provides warnings on the display, recommending that you stop and take a break when you are tired. Finally, the 360° sensors provide a drone view to avoid any obstacles when parking or performing complex maneuvers.
The third-generation 500 is the first FCA car equipped with the new UConnect 5 infotainment system, the connected platform designed for the future. Developed with the idea of providing customers with a completely new user experience in mind, FCA uses the easy, intuitive and incredibly customizable Android Auto operating system. For example, you can use widgets to configure how functions and apps are displayed. Apple CarPlay is already available wirelessly. The system is also ready to offer the same functionality for Android Auto.
In short, the New 500 offers seamless integration with your smartphone, offering a 10.25” high-definition touchscreen, with a horizontal form factor that fits perfectly into the car dashboard, following its lines.
My Remote: from their smartphone, customers can check the battery charging level, schedule vehicle charging for the most cost-effective time slots; find the exact location of the car; lock and unlock the doors; turn the lights on and off and program the air conditioning system.
My Theft Assistance: customers are immediately notified in the event of their car being stolen. As soon as the theft is confirmed by law enforcement, customer safety assistance will provide support to retrieve the car.
So, the New 500 was born perfectly connected: it dialogs with you both inside and outside the car, allowing you to set the navigation route in advance, and to find it air-conditioned on arrival. And once the car door is opened, your mobile phone will be connected in just 5 seconds. You will no longer need to use the charging cable either.
In terms of style, the New 500 implements future mobility in an Italian way, bringing together the considerable legacy of the two previous generations. Because we must never forget that the New 500 is what it is, an iconic city car with the same stylistic proportions and clean design, a sign of our times. Classic, cool, and rooted in 63 years of history. During the design phase, the Fiat Style Center worked on clean lines and a consistent language to define the look of the third generation: crisp, advanced and compact, while being more sinuous and elegant, shaped around a more proportioned approach to the chassis. This makes it spatially attractive, giving a perception of increased stability and dimensional presence.
Another requirement was to immediately give the new model a dedicated 500 logo, which appears at the center of the front badge for the first time, in the place of the Fiat logo. The current 500 logo at the rear keeps its link with the past, albeit transformed into the dedicated all-electric version: distinguished and embellished by a Light Blue border, with a play of design and color transforming the final zero into a letter “E”.
The New 500 has all the elements of style, just quieter, cleaner and crisper. The front is vertical as in the 1957 version, making it less elusive, almost facing the road, and the dynamic feel of the profile has been accentuated. The dividing line of the first generation separated the bonnet from the circular headlights, while today that separation has been redesigned, dividing the modular elliptical headlight with an eyelash on the bonnet. The slightly more ellptical, still-iconic headlights are technological and modern, resulting in a more appealing look, while the door handles are completely flush, with a compartment for the electric unlocking. A car with a smile, which has not lost the ‘carefree’ connotation expressed by its empathetic front, even in the third generation.
Its form demonstrates the same creative spirit. The substance of the new platform has given the third-generation 500 an incredible presence: it is 6 cm wider and 6 cm longer, the wheelbase has been extended by 2 cm, and the wheels are larger and further apart, giving it a stronger personality and greater comfort despite its length remaining under four meters.
Inside, the electric 500 is completely new and elegant, with clear references to elements of the first generation. Like an interior designer, the Style Center has furnished the interior by distributing the bulk efficiently to achieve formal simplicity, trim aesthetics and visual clarity. This is exemplified by the wide and slender dashboard and the modular storage solutions between the two front seats where the gear shift console was originally located, significantly improving perceived comfort. There is more space behind the shoulders and for the legs, while the flat bottom can house the lithium batteries without compromising the luggage compartment capacity, which remains unchanged. The result is a well-thought-out and cleaner environment, with fewer buttons and crisp, harmonious lines that are all about sustainability. As for the Hybrid Fiat 500, including the electric version, some trim levels also have seats made using “Seaqual” yarn, derived from plastic recovered from the sea, while others make considerable use of eco-leather rather than real leather.
The Fiat 500 has always been synonymous with excitement. And the third generation is also set to amaze, even before pressing the start button. The new 500 debuts in the convertible version: the first open-air four-seater with zero emissions: all open, all electric, all silent. As an icon of La Dolce Vita, it had to be reborn to bring out all the charm of its forms and sounds. And on the subject of sounds, here is another unique feature of the new city car, which will become available later: the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), an acoustic warning for pedestrians that is mandatory at speeds up to 20 km/h; the chosen sound is not a common acoustic signal, but rather the music of Amarcordby Nino Rota, in pure Dolce vita style, an example of the most authentic Italian creativity.
A dream is coming true: the “la Prima” launch edition, a limited edition designed for the launch of the New 500, with its own distinct style, exclusivity, technology and connectivity.
From today, March 4, it can be ordered via an online pre-booking system on the www.fiat.com* website, by following a simple procedure of just three clicks.
Style. It is clearly a 500, and as such it cannot but embody style and attention to every detail. Furthermore, it is electric and therefore sustainable, and even the choice of colors was inspired by nature and its basic elements. La Prima is available in three colors:
Exclusivity. Those who desire the New 500 “La Prima” require all its details to be exclusive: the Monogram Soft Top, and the “1 of 500” numbered badge alongside the name of the country in which the car was purchased on the first 500 units sold in the main countries.
Connectivity. The new UConnect 5 infotainment system: 7’’ TFT Display, Radio 10.25’’ Touch Screen NAV, Digital Audio Broadcast, Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto, Telematic Box Module.
To book the “la Prima” limited edition, simply browse to the www.fiat.com* website, and with just three clicks and a deposit of €500, you can become a part of the mobility of the future. The steps required are really simple and quick: select your color, register and choose a dealership, then pay the €500 deposit, which is always refundable. The unique and exclusive system uses your postal code to identify environmental incentives, and displays the final price as well as the national and local incentives available in your area. The €500 is not a down-payment, but serves as proof of interest in purchasing a “La Prima” limited edition, only limited numbers of which are available in each country.
To assist in the development of the New 500 strategy, inspired by change and the desire to give the Earth a better future, the Fiat brand has taken on a star who has for over 20 years been committed to combating climate change and defending biodiversity: Leonardo DiCaprio. The U.S. actor and activist has embraced the philosophy of the New 500 and wanted to offer his endorsement for Fiat"s mission.
The “All-In” video* campaign, uploaded to YouTube today and dedicated to the “La Prima” launch edition, sees DiCaprio inviting everyone to make a major commitment to combating climate change, aiming at sustainability: "We need to go all in," he says in his speech. Fiat has accepted the challenge, making this part of its mission and has brought in its most precious gem, the 500, to offer its first fully electric model. By fully electrifying the 500, we can help to preserve the Earth, our home. The “Reincarnation” *, also available on YouTube, tells the story of a brand that has transformed over the years, one that has been inspiring change since 1957, in the words of the video itself. “Reincarnation” asks questions about life, its evolution and about Fiat, and finds the answers in its most iconic model.
This strategy of sharing ideas and projects also includes other partners with whom Fiat has worked on the One-offs, the first three unique and special examples of the New 500 that will be sold at auction, the proceeds of which will go to one of Leonardo DiCaprio"s environmental organizations.

The three One-offs to be presented in Milan serve as a testament to the extent sustainability and the desire to get right into improving the Earth are now so strong. Companies such as Giorgio Armani, Bvlgari and Kartell, symbols of Italian excellence around the world, have shared in the New 500 project, with a common desire to breathe life into the change, by creating three unique models to celebrate the arrival of the first the project of New 500 and have wanted, together, to give voice to this change by creating three unique pieces that celebrate the arrival of the first fully electric FCA car from the outset.
The 500 has always been an Italian icon, Fiat"s little one, having made its way into the world by becoming the best-selling FCA car abroad and by featuring at MoMA in New York. Comparable to a haute couture outfit, a object of design and a jewel, Fiat has selected the very best for the New 500 project – Armani, Bvlgari and Kartell. Bringing together all their values has brought to life the three very special One-offs, marked out in particular by their style, creativity and craftsmanship, based on the use of natural, recycled and regenerated materials.
Only Giorgio Armani, the undisputed king of the world of Italian elegance, could be the one to interpret the style. His haute couture house interpreted their version of the electric 500, the 500 Armani, in the name of timeless tailoring and sustainability. Using laser technology, Armani wished to shape the metal covering of the car’s bodywork (and eventually etching it) with exclusive microchevron engraving, bringing it as close as possible to the three dimensions of a fabric. The result is further enhanced by an Armani gray-green “silk effect” color. What’s more, the opaque paint used for the exterior is an innovative product. While the “GA” logo is a strong feature of the wheel design and customizes the fabric of the soft top, while the amber-colored windows raise the car’s level of harmony and sophistication.
Bvlgari"s One-off B.500 “MAI TROPPO” is a homage to craftsmanship and beauty. 500 has always played a role in La Dolce Vita, an Italian icon born of the love for beauty and art. The new interpreter of these values is Bvlgari, an emblem of Italian excellence, a brand that has innovated over the years by rewriting the rules of world jewelry and launching new trends that have become icons of contemporary design. The New 500 is a true gem in its own right, with its interiors in the finest materials, embellished by the greatest attention to the details and unique finishes that recall the vivid, unmistakable combinations of colors and motifs and exalt Bulgari"s Roman origins.
The One-off features a saffron-colored pearlescent paint, an iconic shade at Bvlgari inspired by the chromatic variegation of Roman sunsets. This effect is enhanced by a nuance in the paint produced by expert manual technique. The “saffron” paint emphasizes the character of the car as a “jewel”, based on the inclusion of gold powder, recovered from the scraps of jewelry production. The end result: an environmentally friendly car, resplendent in its own light. In addition to the gold paint, the B.500 has side sills and front moldings processed using the glazing technique; specifically designed wheels in the form of a star, the historical symbol of Bvlgari, along with black lacquer with gold trim and a side “jewel” badge in polished gold, with a diamond-paved B.500 logo. The philosophy of re-use continues in the interiors, with a dashboard fascia made even more elegant by its upholstery with heritage Bvlgari silk scarves from the collections of the past. The seats are in teal leather with "Diva" pattern embroidery, gold details and scarf inserts. The true jewel of the interiors are three semi-precious stones, amethyst, topaz and citrine, set in a removable brooch, made by the master goldsmiths at Bvlgari and placed in the center of the steering wheel.
Creativity and innovation are the elements of inspiration for the 500 Kartell One-off, from the iconic brand of Italian industrial design, which constantly experiments and researches new aesthetic and functions vernaculars for plastics. In recent years, Kartell has also been involved in developing increasingly sustainable plastics.
The world premiere of the New 500 in Milan is also an opportunity to announce the confirmation of the Fiat 500 as an “Italian Icon and Honorary Member” of Altagamma, the association that since 1992 has brought together the best companies in the High Culture and Creative Industry that promote Italian excellence and lifestyle around the world. Unique in its breadth, Altagamma welcomes 107 brands from the fashion, design, jewelry, food, hospitality, adrenaline and wellness sectors. Together they have a total of more than 9,000 years of history, with an average of 85 years per company. Today, the Fiat 500, a symbol of Made in Italy and an icon and ambassador for the Italian Lifestyle around the world, becomes an “Honorary Member” of the prestigious association. Fiat"s city car, now in its third generation, has been on the crest of the wave since 1957. In 63 years of history, it has created a position for itself in the world, becoming a symbol of the urban mobility of the past, present and future.
The Fiat 500’s new status takes its place in a long-established collaboration between FCA and the association, with other Group brands already forming part of Altagamma.
Remaining on the subject of exclusivity, purchasing a New Fiat 500 equates to entering the “House of Brands”, a highly exclusive club. It means opting for electric, but from time to time you can choose to drive the vehicle you need most: another model from the New 500 stable such as the 500X or 500L, an Italian sports car like the Alfa Romeo Giulia or Stelvio, or even an American SUV like the unstoppable Jeep Wrangler, Compass or Renegade. All this is made possible by “My Dream Garage”, the new mobility service designed by FCA and Leasys, a leasing and mobility company, exclusively for customers who buy a New Fiat 500.
The cluster itself is $775, part #5SV93JXWAC. Looks like it is still unavailable for a parts order. The wiring harness also looks to be substantially different (and it is also unavailable at this time).
I am hardly crafty nor a mechanic, but on the surface, it would seem to be a near impossible project to pull off. Not saying someone with enough time and money and skill might be able to pull off, but not practical. Might be easier to trade into a 2015 Fiat to get the new look. I have driven (2) 2015"s now, and love the new cluster, but I still like the "classic" look of what"s in my 2014. Some of it is cool for sure, and some of it is kind of gimmicky in my opinion. I would rather have a more accurate and useful boost gauge.
I have a sport 2013 and i"m happy to be upgrading into an abarth because of the new Gauge cluster. Its really a step into this century. I mean, I read someone say this thing would be outdated in 5 years and look horrible, but you know what, this thing is soooo much more easy to read than the old one. I mean you have the data sooo much more visable than before. the old one was like a armitron digital watch hah. this one at least has big numbers. its a step into this century while still being able to keep the price of the abarth down. I dun need some Lincoln MKS super computer in there haha.
I would just upgrade into a 2015 if you really want the new tech. I think its worth it. I don"t see them changing this gauge cluster tech in the next 2-3 years do you guys? I mean normally its not something changed year to year. what do you guys think? how long is this gauge cluster good for before they change it up again/upgrade on the OEM side?

Had I known that waiting a few months before ordering my 2014, that Fiat was changing that feature, I might have held off and ordered a 2015 instead, but I am not disappointed. I was all excited about getting a 2014, in order to get two arm rests, and the lower passenger seat. That was a big deal to me, lol.

The 500/ 500T/ 500e/ 500 ABARTH/ 2013 - 2015 Harness Connector in the back of the clusters are identical, and I am almost 95% sure the 500L Cluster shares the 500 Cluster Connector.
Quick hints: I have no Airbags. I have an Airbag Safety Warning because I have removed all the Airbags. I have no TPMS Sensors in my street wheels. What does "RDS" mean in the cluster? I"ve had the exclamation warning on for a long time. Notice time works. Notice date works. Speedometer works.
Nice gauge cluster it is even nicer than the one found in the 2015 Abarth. What else can it display and how can the existing one changed to resemble that one.

It seems the Pop base model will retain the current cluster, so, only a guess, don"t think Fiat will have a separate cabling for the other models, so there is a chance it will be plug&play. are the connectors any different?

I don"t think it has to do with the wiring Harness. The Cluster Connectors on the Wiring Harness are identical across the 500 Line Up. I even believe, but haven"t proved yet, that a 500L has the same Instrument Cluster Connector and will work in a 500.
The Cluster has a Pre-Loaded software from the Factory. The Factory Programs the Software for the Model it"s going to be installed. Now I need to get a hold of a 2015 ABARTH TFT Cluster so I can get my Boost Gauge to operate.
I have removed all the Radio System from my ABARTH. With the 500e TFT Cluster and the 500 TFT Cluster I have been able to update the Time/ Date in the EVIC.
Direct Plug and Play. The 500 TFT doesn"t run my stock boost gauge, and there"s a percent gauge on the right side in SPORT Mode that doesn"t do anything. The mileage is stored in the PCM and the cluster separately. The cluster will not update to match the PCM mileage without a WiTECH.

Thanks for taking the time and doing this. I"m really interested in the TFT gauges. They were only thing that had me thinking about buying a newer model but wasn"t worth the cost difference. I"m already running an aftermarket Boost Gauge so don"t care about that. Look forward to seeing what all functions work on the Abarth one, and if you can get your mileage updated.
Hey Bigdaddysrt any update on the TFT cluster? I would like to put this in my 2013 Turbo. Tried to get one online and they want a VIN. Can you give a hint on where to get one?

Can anyone supply a Part #? Also anyone willing to offer support to tune the new display with the new car"s mileage and info? All I can dig up is part #5LD881XXAB ; 1VQ261XXAA; 5LD881XXAA
Did you ever find an Abarth cluster BigDaddySRT? I have had 2 500 TFT and none work with the factory boost gauge. I even bought a boost gauge from a 2016 and nothing. I put back the analog cluster and both boost gauges power up. I did find a complete set on ebay from a 2017 Abarth (cluster, boost gauge and shroud). it should arrive Friday. I hope it works for me.

I like the look of the analogue gauges at night, but for me the TPMS and speedometer work better for me on the TFT. I drive with the Tire Pressures on the screen. I don"t like having to stop to check tire pressures.
They are available to view on the evic. The Abarth has to be stopped to view the menu. The moment you move the menu goes away. With TFT you can view TPMS info using the MFI on the stalk.
Purchased a 2017 Abarth TFT cluster. Plugged it in and the boost gauge lit up. Now I have the issue were there are missing menus, do to not having uconnect. The journey continues.
Fiat rolled out four new vehicles wearing the 500 badge at the 2012 LA Auto Show. The first was the Abarth 500 Cabriolet. Take the performance of the 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth and add the sliding fabric roof of the 2012 Fiat 500C Convertible, and this is what you get.
Also based on the compact 500 platform is the fully electric Fiat 500e. This little orange hatchback is powered by a 111-horsepower electric motor that twists its little front wheels to the tune of 147 pound-feet of torque. Expect to see it at Fiat dealerships in California in Q2 2013.
Thanks to small car physics and wind tunnel-shaped aerodynamic tweaks, Fiat estimates that you"ll be able to go somewhere between 80 and 100 miles before you have to plug in the 500e. With an estimated recharge time that is less than 4 hours (on 240-volt power), you won"t have to stop for too long.
Like most EVs, the 500e"s range pretty much relegates it to city car duties and discourages extremely long road trips. Fortunately, city driving is something that every Fiat that we"ve tested so far does well.
Inside, the 500e was decked out in white with orange trim. Like the rest of the 500 lineup, there"s no in-dash navigation option, but a TomTom navigation unit should be available.
Directly in front of the driver is a new 7-inch round TFT display that allows drivers to handle to advanced charge scheduling, range estimating, and power management that is expected of a modern EV.
The 500L is 26 inches longer than the standard 500, 6 inches taller, and offers 42 percent more interior volume. You also get two more doors and seating for five passengers.
Power is provided by Fiat"s 1.4-liter Multiair turbocharged engine, outputting 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission multiplies torque on its way to the front wheels. A manual gearbox is also available.
With its bright yellow paint, white roof, and the 500L"s rounded-off design, the Trekking will likely draw comparisons with the Mini Cooper Countryman.
Fiat is showcasing the breadth of its 500 range in an SMMT exhibition at its Westminster headquarters. The display, which is being held over two weeks, features the Fiat 500S, 500C and 500L Trekking.
The Fiat 500 went on sale in early 2008 to high acclaim from customers and critics alike. So far, more than 170,000 500s have been registered in the UK, making it one of the most successful cars in its segment.
Completing the SMMT exhibition is Fiat’s latest addition to the 500 range, the 500L Trekking. The crossover vehicle translates the 500 family’s styling to a package which comfortably seats five adults. The Trekking also boasts a raised ride height, mud and snow all-weather tyres and Fiat’s Traction+ stability system.
Fiat’s model range illustrates new car buyers’ shift from conventional D-segment saloon cars to small, well-equipped superminis and versatile dual- and multi-purpose vehicles. See SMMT’s Motor Industry Facts 2014 guide for more information on changing consumer habits.
Unveiled online in the wake of the cancelled Geneva show earlier this week, the battery-powered hatch will initially be available in convertible Fiat 500C form first when sales begin towards the end of this year, said the Italian car-maker.
Replacing the ancient second-gen Fiat 500, which first went on sale back in 2007, the new car is based on an all-new platform that sees the small EV grow in size – but not by much.
The little 500 is now 3630mm long, 1690mm wide and 1530mm tall, making it 60mm wider, 60mm longer and 40mm taller than before, while the wheelbase increases by 20mm.
From day one the new Fiat 500 will be pure-electric, with both petrol and diesel ruled out. Therefore its future in EV-resistant Australia remains unclear at this stage.
Powered by a small 42kWh lithium-ion battery, the Fiat 500 is driven by an 87kW electric motor that can cover up to 320km between charges on the strict WLTP test cycle.
Away from the lights, the tiny plug-in Fiat can reach 100km/h in nine seconds – but the Italian car-maker says more relevant is its 0-50km/h time of 3.1 seconds.
Maximising its range, the small Fiat has three driving modes, with the most efficient setting, the "Sherpa" mode, said to reduce power, throttle response and climate control.
Inside, Fiat has confirmed the 500 comes with a 10.25-inch touch-screen that runs FCA"s latest Uconnect 5 system and offers sat-nav, wi-fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Fresh new tech adopted by the new Fiat 500 includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a driver drowsiness detection and 360-degree parking camera.
Set to go on sale in late 2020 or early 2021 in markets like the UK, the new Fiat 500 will come with a large price bump, with prices reported to begin at £29,000 ($A55,000).
- Three new exterior paint colors for 2015 are Giallo Moderna Perla (modern pearl yellow), Laser Blu (bright metallic blue) and Billet Argento (billet silver)
April 7, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 2015 Fiat 500 vehicle lineup, to be showcased at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, will include a number of interior enhancements for increased driver convenience and ease of use, including an advanced instrument panel with a 7-inch high-definition TFT (Thin Film Transistor) cluster display.
The new 7-inch TFT cluster allows drivers to easily monitor data like speed, fuel level, Eco index and trip information. While on the main screen, an image of the vehicle is surrounded by information, including distance traveled, gas mileage and range. A parking screen helps drivers while moving in reverse if the vehicle is equipped with Rear Park Assist. Other screen options include a radio screen that displays information about the station selected and a telephone screen showing call information.
When the vehicle is in Sport mode, the TFT display becomes more aggressive in appearance, complementing the Sport mode"s more engaged driving experience.
Other interior updates for 2015 include a redesigned center console. To make it more useful for drivers, the revamped console includes a new cup holder design and an additional, conveniently located USB port that is fully functional and integrated with the radio. The 2015 Fiat 500 models will also include Bluetooth streaming audio in addition to the already standard Bluetooth phone connectivity.
"Since launching in March 2011, more than 135,000 Fiat 500 cars have been sold in North America," said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC. "We continue to improve the successful 500, retaining its unique Italian flavor while adding unique features, such as a 7-inch TFT display, and incorporating Bluetooth streaming and a more functional center console."
On the exterior, new paint colors for 2015 are Giallo Moderna Perla (modern pearl yellow), Laser Blu (bright metallic blue) and Billet Argento (billet silver).
In addition to the interior improvements across the Fiat 500 lineup, the Fiat 500 Abarth, Abarth Cabrio and Turbo will add a six-speed automatic transmission as an option for 2015.

The FIAT brand portfolio in North America continues to expand. With the resources, technology and worldwide distribution network required to compete on a global scale, the alliance builds on Chrysler Group"s culture of innovation, first established by Walter P. Chrysler in 1925, and Fiat"s complementary technology that dates back to its founding in 1899.
Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., Chrysler Group"s product lineup features some of the world"s most recognizable vehicles, including the Chrysler 300 and Town & Country, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Dart, Ram 1500, SRT Viper and Fiat 500. Fiat contributes world-class technology, platforms and powertrains for small- and medium-size cars, allowing Chrysler Group to offer an expanded product line including environmentally friendly vehicles.
April 7, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The high-performance 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio, to be showcased at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, will be available with an optional six-speed automatic transmission, helping to broaden the customer base for the high-performance version of the Fiat 500.
"Adding an optional automatic transmission makes the Abarth and Abarth Cabrio accessible to an entirely new group of customers who want to enjoy the thrilling driving experience of the Fiat 500 Abarth with the convenience of an automatic gearbox," said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.
To ensure the 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio remain true to their high-performance and track-ready heritage, the six-speed automatic transmission – Aisin AW6F25 six-speed – has been reinforced with more clutch plates and a more robust heat treatment to allow for higher torque capability. The Sport mode calibration allows for an even more engaged driving experience with special features such as fuel-cut upshifts, rev-matching downshifts, brake-assist downshifts, corner gear hold and fast-off gear hold, as well as a more aggressive pedal map.
Both the automatic and manual transmission options for the 2015 Fiat Abarth and Abarth Cabrio will be paired with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine. Both Abarth models will continue to include the segment-exclusive Abarth Track Experience, which allows Fiat 500 Abarth drivers to learn how to maximize their driving skills with a full day of professional driving instruction.
The Fiat 500 Turbo was introduced in 2012 for driving enthusiasts who wanted the Italian style of the Fiat 500 with more power and performance for their daily drive. For the 2015 model year, the Fiat 500 Turbo will also offer the Aisin AW6F25 six-speed automatic transmission as an option to pair with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine.
As one of the more affordable turbocharged vehicles available, the Fiat 500 Turbo amplifies the Cinquecento"s power, performance and personalization levels while keeping the character of the iconic Fiat 500.
"When it was launched two years ago, the Fiat 500 Turbo hit the sweet spot between the regular Fiat 500 and the high-performance Fiat 500 Abarth," said Stoicevich. "The availability of the automatic transmission now makes this sweet spot even sweeter, by expanding the Turbo"s appeal, particularly among young buyers who can now buy one of the most affordable turbocharged cars in the market with the convenience of an automatic transmission."
The Fiat 500 Turbo continues to offer a distinctive look, with an aggressively styled front fascia, bolder side skirts and unique 16-inch aluminum wheels. At the rear, a liftgate-mounted spoiler extends the roofline, while a black-accented rear diffuser optimizes airflow.
In addition to the optional automatic transmission offering for the 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth and Turbo models, the entire Fiat 500 lineup will receive interior updates for 2015, including an innovative instrument panel with a 7-inch high-definition display to help drivers easily monitor vehicle information.
FIAT - Life is Best When Driven. The FIAT brand stands for discovery through passionate self-expression. It encourages people to be in charge of their lives, live confidently and celebrate the smallest of things with infectious excitement. That philosophy is embodied by the North American introduction of the iconic Fiat 500 or Cinquecento - a small car that lives big. Italian at heart and rooted in a rich heritage, the Fiat 500 is synonymous with modern, simple design blending form, function and a pride of ownership that is genuine.
Reminiscent of the original Cinquecento, the Fiat 500 and Fiat 500c (Cabrio) build on the vehicle"s global popularity. Since its initial launch in 2007, more than 1,000,000 Fiat 500 vehicles have been sold in more than 100 countries around the world. In addition to success on the sales front, the Fiat 500 has earned more than 80 international awards, including being named the 2008 European Car of the Year, 2009 World Car Design of the Year and Best New Engine of 2010 (Fiat MultiAir® Turbo). In the U.S., the 2012 Fiat 500 was named "Best Buy" in the subcompact category by Consumers Digest and was deemed a "Top Safety Pick" by the influential Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This year, the 2013 Fiat 500 was named to the "10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000" list by Kelley Blue Book"s KBB.com and the new 2014 Fiat 500L was recognized as a "Top Safety Pick" by IIHS.
The FIAT brand portfolio in North America continues to expand. In 2013, the FIAT brand launched the high-performance Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio, the fully-electric Fiat 500e and the Fiat 500L, an all-new five-passenger model that expands FIAT"s brand style and efficiency into the growing B-segment.
At Miramar Car Center, we know customers are increasingly interested in EVs like the Fiat 500e, and as always, we are here to help. We have a growing inventory of used electric vehicles, plenty of experience selling them, and an easy online shopping process that can even include virtual vehicle demos. It’s a great way to check out our pre-owned Fiat 500e, which offers an especially stylish way to go green.
You should consider purchasing a pre-owned Fiat 500e if you’re looking for a stylish ride with a city-friendly travel range and nimble proportions that make it easy to park and fun to drive. Of course, you can save some serious money, too. Like nearly any car, the 500e is subject to depreciation. This alone reduces the value of a new car by 20% to 30% in its first year on the road and by about 60% after five years. So with lower values, used 500e’s are likely to be priced a lot less than the new ones were. You can also expect lower insurance rates because coverage is typically based on a vehicle’s value. Next, Miramar Car Center goes the extra mile to only offer the highest quality pre-owned EVs and we can quickly steer you toward a used-car history report as well. It’s a great way to find out even more about a used 500e, including how many owners it’s had, whether it’s been serviced regularly, and if it’s been in an accident. One final factor when it comes to shopping for a used 500e is that Fiat stopped producing the first-generation version in 2019 and didn’t immediately replace it in the United States. In other words, it’s going to be pretty tricky to get a new one.
Rest assured that a used Fiat 500e can still provide many of the same rewarding features that you demand from a new car. Notably, this includes key safety and infotainment technologies, along with high-end luxuries, that add comfort and convenience to every ride. (Please keep in mind that exact features vary by model.)
The Fiat 500e is motivated by an 83-kilowatt electric motor delivering 111hp, an original range of about 84 miles on a single charge, and the ability to see nearly 121mpge in urban driving. It’s also supported by both Level 1 and Level 2 charging.
Heated leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, alloy wheels, a TFT driver display, and wild color combination are only a few of the upscale details you can find in a pre-owned 500e.
As one of the earliest modern mass-market EVs, the Fiat 500e was first sold in only a single trim to gauge customer interest for this new way of driving. In 2019, a more athletically inclined E-Sport trim joined the family. Both versions showcase incredible efficiency and the kind of engineering that’s specifically developed to make all-electric driving come easy.
Fiat itself was founded in Turin, Italy, in 1899, with its name coming from “Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino” — which roughly translates into the Italian Automobile Factory of Turin. The company grew to become one of the biggest automakers in Europe thanks in large part to the original gas-powered Fiat 500 that launched in 1957 and went on to sell more than 6 million units in more than 100 countries around the world.
A modernized version of the 500 helped spearhead the brand’s return to the United States in 2011, and the 500e launched soon after as the company’s first modern EV. One of the most efficient electric vehicles in its class, the 500e remains a smart choice for city-based drivers across the country.
