gameboy advance lcd screen in stock
Introducing the sharpest Game Boy Advance display yet. Gone is the blur of early 2000s hardware. Enjoy your favorite GBA titles with this startlingly crisp and impressively vibrant backlit IPS LCD display by Funny Playing.
Please check out our tutorial for instructions on how to install the IPS LCD (centered and offset methods) and the built-in brightness controller. Updated pictures with the V2 ribbon are forthcoming.
We strongly recommend testing the display before installing it in your Game Boy Advance. Once the foam tape is applied to your shell, it cannot be safely removed. Please confirm the kit is working before connecting the foam, bracket, and LCD. We are unable to accept returns on kits that have been installed in a console. Individual replacement parts are available above in the "Included" section.
Unlike the AGS-101 display, the IPS LCD is much thinner and has a larger bezel on the left side. Since most of the display is not supported by the shell, we have designed a 3D-printed centering bracket. It"s also available separately.
The IPS panel"s viewing area is slight larger than that of the AGS-101. In order to make the entire display visible, the LCD requires a lens with a slightly larger viewing area (~1 mm on each side). We sell silk screen centered lenses with this larger viewing opening.
The interior left wall (D-pad side) must be removed to center the viewing area on the display. We now offer this trim for the centered IPS LCD installation for all our GBA shells.
Avoid placing pressure directly on the screen. Hold the edges of the LCD carefully when installing it in your console. Do not pinch the screen between your fingers when manipulating it
Too much pressure can permanently damage the screen and result in rows of dead pixels. Do not force the shell closed around the LCD. Ensure the shell is properly trimmed for the IPS LCD before attempting to install it.
2019-06-21:Clarified product notes, specified that offset lens includes metallic Game Boy Advance logo, updated tutorial, added wire gauge recommendation, removed pre-order.
This brand new kit is the sharpest, brightest LCD you can find for the Game Boy Advance, and it"s also IPS technology! This means that the viewing angles are insane, and the pixel quality simply impressive.
The viewing area of the IPS LCD is slightly larger (about 1mm on each side) than the display lens allow. We are looking into sourcing custom centered lenses that will fit perfectly.
The provided lens is for offset installation. This means that the screen will not be centered when using the offset bracket (you either need to use the bracket, or the provided offset lens)
Perfect upgrade for your GBA! Install this IPS screen to enhance your enjoyment of the popular Nintendo handheld. See for yourself the enhanced brightness, colour and clarity.
To install this kit there is no soldering required. Screen is plug and play. Pair with an IPS ready GBA shell from here to make the install even simpler.
1. 10 levels of brightness are available with the soldering of 3 wires. IPS screen will still function normally without these wires if you choose not to install them.
3. The 3M gasket included with the screen is only suitable for the FunnyPlaying shells. If you choose to use a RetroSix or other shell and would like to stick the screen down (after testing) check out Perth_Retro_Gaming ""How to"" GBA series on YouTube.
3. A bigger lens viewing hole than standard is required to accommodate the IPS panels larger screen size. The IPS shells have this included. An OEM shell will need trimming. A IPS sized glass lens will also be required.
4. Please test your screen kit for faults before installation. A photo or video will be required for potential warranty claims. Any issues are to be reported before installing inside a shell or adhering to a gasket. Replacements will not be made for installed kits.
These self adhesive are easy to reaple the only scratched plastic covers with a new high clarity scratch resistant glass lcd cover. Just peel and stick!
GAME BOY ADVANCE, or GBA for short. It`s the second-generation portable game console released on March 21, 2001, featuring a colorful reflective LCD screen.
The GBA screen can only be seen under the sun, or light at night, but it is very visible in high light. It adds a reflective layer behind the screen LCD panel, which relies on reflecting light to support the visibility of the screen, and it`s called a full reflective LCD screen.
The original LCD of the GBA screen is a 2.9-inch 160x240 reflective LCD,40.8 mm x 61.2 mm. now there is no original LCD for replacement. And original LCD is very dark with grey colors.
This enhanced LCD is 2.9 inch 480*720, Panox Display`s convertor board on FPC make higher resolution compatible with GBA circuit board. This makes 3*3 pixels display one pixel as the original display.
As you see, the saturation of color is higher, graphic is more tridimensional. And it can work well even in a dark environment. Panox Display also provides cover glass same as GBA original screen, the user won"t need to cut the shell of GBA.

A:If you do not need adjust brightness, the screen don"t need solder, the screen normal is 6-8 levels brightness; If you need adjust brightness, you need solder.
Even though I prefer the more "authentic" look of the AGS-101 screen, this screen is exactly what I expected when I ordered it: great brightness, absurdly easy to install (I was every GBA mod was this easy) and it doesn"t drain the battery.
I like this screen. The colors are sharp and the brightness setting is a great thing. Of course you have to exercise caution while istalling. Of course there are some mischiefs among us that are clumsy enough to destroy such a display as Mr. Schuyler did...
Got the screen fit after reading the instructions carefully. Spent 2 hours with a craft knife to carefully fit it in. Once it was in, the bezel was still off on the top and bottom, no template was provided and I should have stenciled one.
I loaded up Gunstar Super Heroes and the tearing was just awful, slow enough where it looked like the screen was redrawing incredibly slowly. It was so distracting, I wouldn"t recommend playing any action games at all.
With the screen so wrapped up in adhesive backing, it was difficult to test fit, so I had to rely on guess work for fitting, the bevel didn"t match after installation, trying hard to remove the screen carefully, but cracked incredibly easily, all that work and money for nothing, don"t waste your money on this garbage.
The colors, brightness and sharpness are all really good, but and this is a big one the diagonal screen tearing, it may not bother some people but from someone who is used to 144hz displays I can immediately tell and while I can ignore it because the alternative is to pay upwards of $80 plus soldering equipment and other stuff to get an AGS-101 screen in my GBA so it gets a pass from me.
Hopefully it gets an updated version to fix the issue and if it does I will definitely be buying one, I made a video installing the screen and testing some games for anybody reading this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyuQ85uIPIY&t=1s
Messed up putting the screen in the GBA due to poor diagrams online (hard to read and see). But I absolutely love it. There is some major tearing on certain games, but I can easily look passed it and enjoy it. Worth getting imo
Unfortunately, the screen tearing makes some games unplayable, hopefully, there"s a fix released for that soon. Apart from that the screens great: 4 to 1 pixel ration, adjustable brightness, etc.
Fantastic colors, brightness, contrast. But the screen has a big problem - the tearing, in fast games. Games about Mario or Yoshi, Metroid - OK, everything looks good. If something is faster, defects will be visible.
