I’ve tested a bunch of robot vacuums, all with varying results. If you’re familiar with robot vacuums yourself, you’ll know that you can’t always rely on them to fulfill all application areas. And having to occasionally use the traditional wired, big, clunky vacuum cleaner isn’t particularly enjoyable. It’s time to find out if a Dyson V15 – a cordless vacuuming cleaner – might be just what you need.

On first impression, this looks nothing like regular vacuum cleaner – more like the weapons used to catch ghosts in the 80s classic, Ghostbusters. Dyson V15 is cordless and little tacky, and I’m sure the orange, purple and red color combination will make people with a taste for minimalistic electronics cringe.

You’ll get a total 60 minutes of run time, and the remaining time is visible on the LCD screen at the end of the handle. There’s also a small button to switch suction mode: Eco mode, Auto, Med mode and Boost mode, depending on which brush you’re using. Extra batteries can be purchased separately. If you use Auto and Med mode and/or the special High Torque nozzle (brush with anti-filter comb), the suction power is adjusted to be stronger the dirtier it is. The same applies if you go from a regular floor to a carpet. Of course, this affects battery life, but if you use the Dyson V15 to complement a robot vacuum, you won’t need to vacuum for 60 minutes at a time.

Cleaning is seldom synonymous with fun, but seeing the results in real time makes it all the more enjoyable! The vacuum cleaner has a piezoelectric sensor that calculates dust particles and shows both the amount sucked up and the size of the particles in different coloured bars on the LCD screen.

According to Dyson, the piezo sensor calculates particles passing through 15,000 times per second, which I haven’t measured, but it does sound impressive. On the LCD screen you can see how many particles are smaller than 10 µm (microns), such as allergens and pollen; particles smaller than 60 µm, which is the size of microscopic dust and skin flakes; 180 µm, which is the size of dust mites; and 500 µm, which are particles that are about 0.5 mm.

And that’s what makes cleaning a bit more exciting! The LCD screen’s brightly coloured bars and numbers can pique the interest of even the most bored teenagers, making them vacuum on their own initiative. That is, if you’ve placed the vacuum somewhere that’s easily accessible, of course.

If your bathroom needs a little love, you can simply take the Dyson V15, bring as many accessories as you need and go at it. You won’t have to worry about emptying the vacuum bag either, as dust ends up in a plastic container which can simply be emptied whenever you feel like it.

The filter is placed right alongside the LCD screen, which as mentioned collects 99,97 percent of particles as small as 0.1 µm, in order to thoroughly clean the air.

With its LCD screen with colors, charts and numbers, Dyson V15 manages to turn cleaning into a more enjoyable activity. Its suction power is impressive and it leaves the room both fresh and free of dust – a great addition to a robot vaccum or smaller places like a bathroom or perhaps a tiny apartment

Dyson’s newest vacuum isn’t one for subtlety. It has a laser strapped to the front of it for the purpose of highlighting where the dust is hiding. The Dyson V15 Detect is the company’s newest, top-of-the-line cordless vacuum in its line of stick vacuums. It’s more powerful than my own Xiaomi stick vac (and the Dyson V6 I owned several years ago), while swapping out the cleaning heads makes it suitable for both carpets and hard floors (or a mix of both, like my own). However, that versatility and sheer cleaning power (ugh, did I just write those words together?) will cost you $699. Are those high-tech additions gimmicks or truly helpful upgrades for a cleaner home?

I’ve spent a couple of weeks with the V15, and my rugs, carpet and hardwood floors are cleaner than they have ever been — barring a mop. It makes a compelling case for high-end stick vacuums.

While there are several notable features on the V15 Detect, let’s start with the showiest one, the laser ‘blade’ light on the cleaning head. It’s there to visibly show you that your Dyson vacuum is cleaning your floors. Due to the angle the laser is aimed at, it “cuts” across the floor at a 7.2mm level. This is the perfect height, apparently, for highlighting your dust bunnies.

Any illusions I had of keeping a remotely clean home were dashed. I knew my rug sheds fine fibers pretty easily. I didn’t know how easily they evaded my old stick vacuums. For the sake of testing the V15, I vacuumed my floors with my Xiaomi vacuum, then I went back over the same areas with the V15. Besides my carpeted bedroom, it’s a one-room hardwood floor situation, making it ideal for Dyson’s laser feature.

The next major feature is an evolution of the see-through dust canisters that became de rigueur in nearly all stick vacuums, and several plug-in upright models. (Dyson had a hand in that trend.) Seeing what you’ve managed to pull from your floors is surprisingly satisfying.

Dyson took this further. A new piezo acoustic sensor detects both size and frequency of the dust and other particles you"re collecting. The sensor turns the tiny vibrations of dust particles hitting a surface inside the cleaning head into electrical signals. Carbon fibers then roughly measure these microscopic particles, which are, Dyson says, counted at up to 15,000 times a second. From this, the V15 can display a particle count of your clean on an LCD display on the back of the vacuum, laying out whether you’re sucking up lots of larger particles or finer dust.

Let’s be honest: the size of particles doesn’t really help improve my cleaning — nor does knowing that I’ll pull in millions of particles every time I swing the V15 through my home. You can reset this count when it recharges or by slipping the battery pack out. I guess you could attempt to either hit a new high score each time you clean, or try to generally reduce your scores for some kind of proof of cleaner floors. I’m not quite sold.

The acoustic piezo sensor also adjusts the V15’s cyclone engine to better clean your floors. Last year’s V11 adjusted its suction when it detected carpet or rug fibers, but the V15 is even smarter. On Auto mode , these particle counts will change how much power the V15 puts into cleaning. If it detects higher levels of tiny detritus, it increases the suction itself.

Beneath the LCD display that shows those particle counts, there’s a button that switches the V15 between three different suction modes. We’ve already mentioned Auto, which was my de facto setting most of the time. Eco should extend the battery life for up to an hour, according to Dyson’s estimates. At the other end of the scale, there’s Boost mode, which puts Dyson’s cyclone engine on full power. Handily, as you switch between modes the vacuum offers battery life estimates in minutes that dynamically changes depending on which mode’s being used .At maximum power, that time will understandably plummet. But with a full battery, it seemed to hover around the 20-minute mark for Boost cleaning. Auto mode promised roughly 45 minutes of use with a fully charged battery.

The “detect” innovations aside, this a very powerful vacuum, on par with other plugin vacuum cleaners many times bigger and heavier. It is definitely the most powerful vacuum I’ve ever used. Consumer Reports and Wirecutter have made similar remarks about the V15 — and they review far more vacuums than I.

We don’t test nearly every vacuum that Dyson makes, so I can’t offer a comparison to last year’s model, even if it looks awfully similar to the V11 — and costs the same. The 6.8-pound V15 is noticeably heavier than the 4.6-pound V6 that I’m used to. I wouldn’t call it unwieldy, but besides the need to constantly pull the trigger to activate, it can get a little more tiring. With all this power, though, I felt I rarely had to run over the same area twice.

Dyson has added a single button start to some of its newest vacuums, but that didn’t include the V15 Detect, sadly. You’ll still have to hold down the trigger — and keep it held down — until you’re done cleaning, adding to the effort needed.

The V15 is a total beast at extracting ingrained dust and dirt in carpets and rugs — areas where the laser doesn’t even work, due to the uneven surface. Using the high torque cleaner head, what looked like a perfectly clean rug was hiding a half canister of rug and fiber. Ew — thanks, Dyson. This cleaning head also has a new anti-tangle comb built-in for households with pets, or people with longer hair than my crew cut. I wasn’t able to test out whether it cut through clumped-together hair, but the V15 also comes with yet another accessory dedicated the challenge, a hair screw tool. It looks hypnotic in action.

It feels weird to consider a high-end vacuum as a luxury, or even a treat. But honestly, that’s how it felt when I was using it: reliable, powerful, and habit-forming. The V15 Detect is the same price as the V11, but it does more to demonstrate to the user that your floors are being cleaned, ruthlessly. It’s also not the company’s most expensive stick vacuum, with that honor going to the $800 V11 Outsize, which has a bigger dust compartment and cleaning head.

I’m explaining away the V15’s asking price, but this remains a high-end vacuum for people willing to stump up for it. I own a PlayStation 5, an overpriced manual espresso machine, an Instant Pot, even an iPhone 12 Pro Max. It’s that kind of product, and it’s hard to argue against how well this cleans my carpets and rugs, too. My floors have probably never been cleaner, and the lasers prove it.

dyson has unveiled the V15 detect, it’s most powerful and intelligent vacuum yet, capable of detecting, removing, sizing and counting microscopic dust for scientific proof of a deep clean. equipped with technology able to detect dust as small as 10 microns and with an acoustic piezo sensor that know what’s been sucked up, this new device aims to redefine deep cleaning at home.

‘as engineers our job is to solve daily problems, and the past 12 months has created plenty of new ones with more time spent indoors,’ explains james dyson, chief engineer and founder. ‘we are all cleaning more frequently, trying to remove the additional house dust but desperate for peace of mind that our homes are truly clean. our latest vacuums use adapted laser technology to reveal hidden dust, integrating a diode laser into the cleaner head that is precisely positioned at a 1.5 degree angle, 7.3mm off the ground to create the best contrast between dust and floor. we don’t think detection is enough, so we remove and meticulously size and count the particles 15,000 times a second using an acoustic piezo sensor which converts vibrations into electrical signals, displaying precisely the size and number of particles sucked up on an LCD at the back of the vacuum. the dyson V15 is both powerful and intelligent, giving the ultimate reassurance – scientific proof of a healthier, cleaner home.’

developed by a team of 370 engineers globally, these latest vacuums use a dyson hyperdymium motor which generates up to 230 air watts of suction and 5-stage filtration captures 99.99% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns for a powerful deep clean. part of an all-new range of dyson vacuums that cover the different cleaning needs of every household, these machines help create healthier homes at a time when 60% of people are cleaning more than ever before. a new range, including smaller, medium and larger sized vacuums will be available in the usa from march 24th, 2021.

When Dyson announced they’re done with R&D on uprights (after releasing the V10), I thought they were nuts. But subsequent models prove they mean business. The V15 Detect is Dyson’s latest, and they’ve managed to give it more power and performance but is it worth the high cost? We’ll find out in this review.

Unlike the Outsize, which’s really a jumbo version of the Torque Drive, the V15 is a true upgrade with several new technologies introduced. In the forefront is the green laser light on the fluffy slim attachment – which is my favorite. Next is the piezo sensor that counts and measures dust particles relayed on the LCD screen. Dyson somehow managed to increase suction further over the Outsize. Along with the improved brush roll, the V15 cleans carpet better.

After Dyson unveiled theV11 Torque Drive and Outsize, I’m not what upgrades they would put in aside from adding more power. But they’ve managed to improve upon these two models significantly with the V15 Detect.

The most worthwhile upgrade (in my opinion) would be this green laser on the slim roller attachment. One of my pet peeves with older Dyson cord-free products is the lack of an LED light, which many competing brands have.

Dyson added a piezo sensor right before the cyclones that counts and measures dust particles passing through. Once it detects a rise in quantity, it increases suction to compensate. This feature is similar to Tineco’s iLoop sensor, but it has another function measuring debris size (in microns).

Dyson added combs above the primary brush roll, which was absent in the V11 models. While I like how the V11 resists tangles, hair over above 11 inches will wrap on the brush.

Adding the combs along with the bump in power help the V15 untangle long hair strands better – better than the Shark Vertex cordless I tested previously.

Another upgrade worth noting is the newly designed mini turbo brush. Dyson calls this “hair screw tool” because of the torque-screw-like shape of the brush.

One of my pet peeves with Dyson cordless vacuums is its tools (or lack thereof). Dyson rectifies this somewhat with the V15 as it has more tools than any Dyson cord-free product.

Dirt volume for the V15 remains the same as the V11 Torque Drive at 0.77 liters. It has the same trombone type lever and point-and-shoot emptying approach.

Before the V15 came out, the V11 Outsize was the most powerful cordless vacuum I’ve tested in terms of airflow. But the V15 changes all that. As usual, I used an anemometer to measure in two critical areas – wand and cleaning head.

Suction tests confirm this bump in airflow as the V15 has the highest number of all Dyson cord-free products with 100″ of water lift(in the highest setting), six more than the DreameTech T30, and ten more than the V11 Outsize.

One benefit of the V15 is the smaller frame. It’s the same size as the V11 Torque Drive but with more power than the Outsize, so you’ll get the benefit of both the Torque Drive and Outsize in one product.

The bump in power is evident in the cleaning tests, where the V15 picked up a high percentage across the board – one of the highest ever (of all the vacuums I’ve tested).

Aside from coffee grounds, the V15 picked up 100% with other debris. One issue with the soft roller is that it spins rapidly and will scatter some debris forward, which is why it didn’t pick up 100% with coffee grounds.

Next, we’ll look at how well the V15 did on carpet, and it was better. The increase in suction and airflow was evident on this surface as it picked up a perfect 100% on all the tests.

Thicker pile carpet, same results – the V15 picked up a perfect score on this surface. And realize that I used the auto setting on these tests, which makes it more impressive.

The V15 is the best so far of all cordless vacuums at picking up hair regardless of surface. These results prove the combs and subtle improvements done on the brush works.

Being a Dyson product, there won’t be an issue with parts availability. Historically, consumers can still purchase replacement parts for models as old as the V6. Even earlier variants such as the DC-series have good parts availability.

Tracks dust like no other vacuum: The green laser is possibly a game-changer in how vacuum cleaners track dust. I’ve tried a lot of vacuums with LED headlights, each with varying success at such. But none of them can accentuate it as well as the V15 Detect.

Best cord-free deep cleaning option: While the V11 Outsize and Torque Drive can deep clean carpet, the V15 beats both, picking up 100% at the Eco setting.

Dyson ups the ante with the V15 Detect. All the upgrades with it help make home cleaning more efficient. For me, the most practical would be the green laser where dust particles are exposed in a manner not possible with an LED headlight.

It’s also an ideal option on hard floors and carpets with its uptick in power. And excellent at cleaning hair because of the upgrades Dyson put in the mini-turbo brush and standard brush roll.

The Dyson V15 Detect is a step above the V11 Torque Drive and Outsize with power, cleaning performance, and practicality. This model addressed some of the issues I had with these older variants – particularly visibility. Adding a green laser will help users immensely at tracking invisible-to-the-nake-eye dust. It’s also better at cleaning hair, especially on carpet and upholstery where the updated designed high torque brush and new torque screw attachment excels. It picks up hair without the tangles. The only hold back for getting this cordless vacuum would be the high cost and ergonomics. Are you willing to fork out the cash to get this? This will be a deciding factor whether or not to purchase this product.

In short: if a Dyson won’t turn on, even after being fully charged, it could be a part that isn’t connected properly. Everything connected properly, but it still won’t turn on? Then you will most likely have to buy a new Dyson battery.

With a Dyson vacuum cleaner it can happen that it suddenly no longer turns on. This seems to be a common problem with the Dyson V11 in particular. I’ve researched reasons why the Dyson vacuum cleaner suddenly won’t turn on and how you can possibly solve this.

If a Dyson suddenly doesn’t turn on, this can be for two main reasons: either for safety reasons or the vacuum cleaner simply isn’t getting enough power. For example, a Dyson with an open dust container or without a filter cannot be switched on to prevent damage.

There is a blockage in the vacuum cleanerIf a Dyson suddenly doesn’t turn on, this can be for two main reasons: either for safety reasons or the vacuum cleaner simply isn’t getting enough power.

To find out why your Dyson no longer turns on, it is important to check a few things first. Check out a handy checklist that I made below.Check whether the filters of the vacuum cleaner are properly connected and clean

To fix a Dyson that won’t turn on, we first need to know where the problem comes from. Press and hold the power button on the Dyson vacuum for at least 10 seconds and see what happens to solve the problem.

Does a red light come on? Then in many cases there is a problem with the battery. The battery of your Dyson is probably worn out and you need to buy a new one.

If the Dyson vacuum is pulsing, the vacuum will let you know there is a problem. As with a blue flashing light, the problem is often a clog in the vacuum cleaner. Do you have a Dyson V11 or V15? Then you will also see a message on the LCD display. In many cases it is a Dyson air duct blockage.

If the Dyson stops working at all – even after holding the power button for 10 seconds – there is a problem with the battery. The vacuum cleaner has no power at all. Before you just buy a new battery, it is important to check whether the Dyson is charging. In the article “Dyson vacuum not charging” I tell you how you can check this from A to Z.When the Dyson stops working at all – even after holding the power button for 10 seconds – there is a problem with the battery.

If you have come to the conclusion that a worn-out battery is the reason that your Dyson no longer turns on, you will have to replace it. Before you buy a new battery, it is important to pay attention to the following:Check if the battery is compatible with your Dyson (find out which Dyson you have)

Also check whether you may still have warranty on your battery. Discover the suitable battery for your Dyson in the overview below.Dyson stick vacuum serieBatteries

In summary: if the Dyson vacuum does not turn on when it is fully charged and you have checked it for loose parts, the battery is probably defective. Often the only solution is to buy a new Dyson battery.

If you own a Dyson vacuum, you love it—and you tell everyone you love it. If you don’t own one, you probably look at their website and wonder what the fuck it all means.

The brand offers a handful of vacuums with confusing names at a wide range of price points, and the specs all vary. Some have lasers, some don’t. Some are always on sale, some are never on sale. So which one do you actually buy? Well I"ve tested them all and as result, it"s one of the most asked questions I field as a self-proclaimed home expert. Because I can’t scream about it in a bar anymore, I will now be forwarding this link to all prospective Dyson buyers. I"m sad to report the answer isn’t as simple as this or that, but more of a question for yourself and your home’s needs.

Before I break down the specs, I have to address the obvious elephant in the room, these vacuums are known for being expensive. But they are not overpriced, there’s a difference. In years of testing products, I can tell you that in this case, you get what you pay for. Dyson employs a team of scientists that study everything from the difference between fur follicles from your constantly-shedding golden retriever to your fluffy cat, and your own human hair tangled into your rugs, and how to suction up each precisely and effectively. Aside from the (gross) topic of hair, they’ve thoroughly vetted how to clean up dirt vs dust all while trapping allergens for decades.

Are you a true techie who wants the most advanced laser-enhanced one? Are you a traditional cleaner who wants an upright model that plugs into the wall (weird, but sure, you still exist)? Or do you want the cheapest Dyson cordless vacuum that will just do the job? They provide all of the above, and here’s how they differentiate in their own unique ways.

One reviewer writes: “It feels solid, it"s sleek, and it"s very lightweight...all things that you would expect out of a $500+ vacuum. It has a lot of features that I like very much that my Dyson actually did not have. It has an extendable shaft, which is something I wish my Dyson had. This allowed for the Fabuletta vacuum to be easier to maneuver around the house than my Dyson…Another feature I loved was the one press to keep it on. For my Dyson, you need to keep your hand on the feature. Keeping your finger on the trigger, the length, and the weight all adds to fatigue in the wrist as you are requiring the work of multiple muscles at the same time.”

Our top pick for a Dyson vacuum is the Dyson v8 Animal Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, which is lightweight and easy to use, and handles all types of surfaces well. If you don"t need the features and functions of a cordless pick or are sticking to a budget, the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 Upright Vacuum delivers an efficient clean, too, thanks to high-power suction that won’t quit. It also has a quick-release dust bin.

Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum: Dyson"s newest model in the Animal Ball series comes with over nine attachments and has a large bin for catching dirt, dust, and pet hair. (Some of the tools provided are meant to be used directly on pets, too, to remove loose hair, but we did not test these features in The Lab.) Our tester said that she felt overwhelmed trying to set up this vacuum because of the number of pieces and unclear instructions. When put to the test against dog kibble and pet hair, it pushed around the debris rather than sucking it up, and took multiple passes to clean one area completely. Our tester was also surprised by how loud it was and didn"t think that it would be suitable for a home with animals that are sensitive to loud noises. Although this newer model may be buzzy now, with its hair-detangling capabilities and pet-specific attachments, we"re not sure it would hold up against less-expensive alternatives.

Dyson Humdinger Cordless Handheld Vacuum: Dyson’s smallest vacuum uses the same radial root technology and whole-machine filtration as the brand"s larger vacuums. It did make a positive first impression on our testing team, who found it easy to hold and a nice size. However, when put through its paces, the buzz of this cordless handheld vacuum faded fast. It earned a disappointing 3-star rating for effectiveness, since it would only suck up debris when pulled backward. This was a major pain point for our product tester. It spewed larger debris, like popcorn kernels and cereal, on both bare floors and carpeted surfaces. Emptying the dust bin was far from easy, and hands-on help was required to clear debris from the vacuum and brush roll, too. Like the Dyson Ball Animal 3, we expected better performance considering the expensive price tag of this handheld vacuum.

During our multiple vacuum tests, we have tested over 50 vacuums side-by-side in The Lab and at home, many of which have been Dyson picks. To start our lab tests, our testers unbox and complete the setup for each vacuum, timing how long it takes to complete this process and rating how helpful the instructions are. Next, they evaluate each vacuum"s effectiveness by using it on low-, medium-, and high-pile carpet and hardwood floors. Each vacuum is tasked with cleaning up measured amounts of hair, popcorn kernels, and Cheerios. During this test, we note how many passes it takes each vacuum to clean up the materials and whether materials get caught in the brush roll. We also consider the vacuum"s weight and portabilityand test durability by dropping the vacuums and taking note of any damage.

Testers note how long cordless models stay charged and how much charge they come with straight out of the box. We gather insights on how each vacuum navigates our living room-inspired obstacle course—which leads to our maneuverability rating—and whether their bins are difficult or easy to empty. Some picks are tested at home, either before or after these vacuum tests, and are brought through real-world environments and situations. They are rated on the same attributes as the vacuums in The Lab. When all is said and done, our editors and writers take the consistently applied testing data, as well as additional research, and boil it down to the Dyson vacuums we believe are the best.

The type of Dyson vacuum you pick depends on your cleaning preferences and lifestyle. The brand keeps things simple with a wide selection of upright and cordless stick vacuums, and a few options for canister and handheld models. When deciding on the type for your household, keep in mind that upright vacuums typically offer the most suction and dust bin capacity. Some cordless models offer as much suction as a full-size upright vacuum and can be better for getting into the tight spots in your home. Usually, lightweight stick vacuums are most ideal for everyday cleanups, while a handheld vac is ideal for spot cleaning.

"Cordless models not only reach tight spaces you’d never be able to access with a corded, upright machine, but you are also achieving the deep clean you need to maintain a clean and healthy home," notes Mutlow. This is particularly true of Dyson models that are equipped with whole-unit filtration systems and powerful suction, like the Dyson v8 Animal or Dyson v15 Detect+.

Perhaps the biggest factor to consider when researching a Dyson vacuum is whether you prefer a corded or cordless vacuum cleaner. Corded vacuums are great for deep cleaning sessions—where you want a seemingly endless supply of suction power. Dyson’s corded, upright vacuums also have larger dust bins, resulting in fewer trips to the trash can. Most models have cords that are 30 feet in length, so you won’t have to switch outlets over and over.

The brand’s cordless vacuums have skyrocketed in popularity and are worth considering. Improvements in battery life—along with the transition to a click-in battery pack on specific Dyson models, like the Dyson Outsize, our Best for Large Spaces option—have made them significantly more appealing and realistic.

Dyson’s upright vacuum cleaners are generally recommended for all floor types, while the cordless vacuum cleaners have various cleaning heads that are optimized for specific types of flooring. The soft-bristled roller is usually the best choice for hard-surface floors, like wood, tile, or laminate. Any rugs and carpets will benefit most from a motorized cleaning head with bristles that will extract hair, dirt, and debris.

The accessory package of each Dyson model varies, but most include standard attachments, such as a crevice tool or combination duster. However, you should pay attention to specialized accessories included with each vacuum, like a mini motorized tool. Pet owners will appreciate the new hair screw tool, an accessory that"s specifically designed to capture pet fur and long hair. It ensures that the hair does not wrap around the brush roll.

You can get a quick idea of which accessories are included with a Dyson vacuum based on its name. Vacuums with the "Motorhead" designation are usually basic and include minimal accessories. The "Animal" version includes additional accessories, though they may vary by model. For newer product releases, Dyson has switched up its product designation to include a "+" symbol for models that include additional accessories or features. For instance, the v15 Detect+ includes nine tools and accessories, as compared to just eight for the v15 Detect.

After emptying your Dyson"s dust cup, rinse it out with water. Dyson"s reusable filters should be cleaned the same way, with nothing more than cold water. The rest of the interior can be cleaned with a dry dust rag and can of compressed air. Don"t forget to remove any hair from the brush bar—either manually or with a pair of scissors. Once you"ve finished cleaning your vacuum, make sure all parts are dry before reassembling the machine.

All Dyson machines come with a Dyson warranty, but its length will depend on which machine you choose. Cordless Dyson vacuums are covered for two years, while corded models are covered for five. Under this warranty, Dyson will repair your vacuum and replace its parts as needed to help ensure its continued performance for years after you purchase it. Warranty aside, your Dyson"s lifespan will depend on how much you use it and what you do to maintain it.

Erica Puisis has been a writer for The Spruce since 2017, specializing as a product researcher for large and small appliances. For this piece, she researched the complete lineup of Dyson vacuums, comparing the features and benefits of a dozen cordless, upright, canister, and handheld models. Each was evaluated based on its features, cleaning modes, battery life, and accessories. Research included reports from The Lab—along with observations from at-home product testers and trends among customer reviews. She also spoke with Josh Mutlow, Dyson"s design manager, to learn more about the technology and thought behind the company"s products.

Emma Phelps, an updates writer for The Spruce, also assisted in updating this roundup to include a few of the latest Dyson models that we"ve tested in The Lab.
