I have got my USED TFT KOMBI in my hands last Saturday and my first goal was to check if really used TFT cannot be properly coded. Definitely this is NOT a problem: for my test I used an F850GS factory equipped with 6AB connectivity.

I swapped the original TFT on F850 with the used part (it was from a crashed 2018 R1200GS Rallye), and it showed the data of the donor motorcycle (mileage, settings, vehicle image and next service date), the kilometers are less than the GS850 and displayed in red due to anti tamper settings.

At this point I tried doing KOMBI mileage alignment, but ISTA+ refused the service plan because the TFT was exchanged without following the ISTA procedure.

So I choose Vehicle Management - Control Unit Replacement - After Replacement procedure for KOMBI3 and followed all the steps, finally the new VIN and data of F850GS were perfectly stored into the used TFT, and it has become an exact clone of the original one (I was able to exchange the two TFT without any errors in ISTA). Also the ABS error was solved after the procedure.

This was only an experiment, my goal will be to install TFT in 2017 R1200GS following the same procedure used above, but first need the connector to do the cable conversion as wrote before, the part is not more available from BMW and the China one from the above link has not the correct shape.

Cruise control is also standard, as well as traction control and two electronic ride modes (Rain and Sport), which are switched via a 7-inch color TFT display. Both models also provide USB and 12V DC outlets and feature LED lighting and fog lights. The medium-height windscreens above the pinched beaks look to be the same size on both machines and a gnarled plastic hand knob suggests adjustability.

But the 800MT doesn’t look anything like a KTM adventure bike either, that is, unless you hone in on the 799cc LC8c parallel twin adopted from the 790 Adventure, which, as you know, has been upgraded in 2021 to 889cc for the Western market, leaving the LC8c version to stand alone in this, and likely other new models from CFMoto.

The details we know so far are that the 800MT will be one of the highest performing motorcycles to ever wear badging from a Chinese builder, with the LC8c delivering a claimed 94 hp and 57 ft-lbs of torque. It will come with Bosch’s cornering ABS, as well as traction control and luxurious amenities like keyless start, built-in GPS, heated grips and seat and KTM’s rich suite of electronics, all accessed on a bright 7-inch TFT display.

According to Cycle World, the 800MT will weigh 509 pounds without luggage or 547 pounds with the aluminum side cases, top box and mounting system. Wheels are 19-inch front/17-inch rear cast as stock, with spoked rims as an upgrade, while other add-ons would be the skid plate and crash bars we see in the photos, though it’s likely CFMoto will offer a special edition outfitted for the dirtier side of adventure riding.

In 2013, BMW forged a partnership with Indian motorcycle manufacturing giant TVS Motor Company. Looking to gain a foothold in more global markets, the brand unveiled the G 310 R concept at EICMA 2015. As part of the agreement, TVS manufactured the G 310 R and G 310 GS production models at its Hosur facility. In 2017, the sub-500cc naked bike and ADV hit the market, rolling out in 120 countries.

The affordable yet aspirational G 310 series was an instant success for the Bavarians. As a result, the G 310 R and G 310 GS recently hit a major milestone, with the Hosur factory rolling out the 100,000th unit after just six years of production. To celebrate the occasion, TVS Motor Company CEO and Director KN Radhakrishnan and BMW Motorrad Head of Urban Mobility Products Rainer Baumel presided over the event.

“We are delighted to achieve a historic milestone in our journey with BMW Motorrad today,” noted Radhakrishnan. “This achievement is a strong testimony to the success of our eight-year partnership, which has created a common learning platform for both companies. Our partnership has been truly exceptional for creating aspirational products made for the global market. We are proud to be a part of this journey and look forward to continuing the partnership with BMW Motorrad.”

While BMW gains a much broader audience thanks to TVS’s foothold in global markets, the deal benefits both parties. Based on the G 310 platform, TVS released the Apache RR 310 sportbike in 2017 as well. The fully-faired motorcycle features the same liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 313cc single-cylinder found in the G 310 R and G 310 GS.

Despite the shared componentry, TVS also upgraded the Apache with a color TFT display, ride modes, and adjustable suspension. The G 310 R and G 310 GS may have adopted LED lighting, throttle by wire, and a slipper clutch in 2021, but the two beginner bikes remain a more approachable option in BMW’s lineup.

“With the roll-out of the 100,000 unit of BMW Motorrad’s 310cc series, these two agile all-rounders are an integral part of BMW Motorrad’s success story. We look forward to the future of our cooperation with TVS Motor Company,” added the Head of BMW Motorrad Markus Schramm.

The LFS 700, its radical styling notwithstanding, indeed presents itself as remarkable value for money. Apart from the Benelli TNT 600, it’s the only other Chinese motorcycle to feature an inline-four engine—an engine configuration loved using many simply because of its sound. Its feature list is pretty impressive, too, with KYB suspension components and Brembo brakes as standard. It even gets a full-color TFT display complete with smartphone connectivity.

BMW R1250GS and R1250GSA, including Rallye, TFT Display anti theft brace, TFT screen anti theft brace, TFT display screen protection, TFT display screen locking frame, fits all BMW R1250 GS LC and Adventure LC models. High grade 304 stainless steel construction. Designed and produced in the UK by craftsmen. Very robust, durable extremely high quality engineered product.

Regretfully the TFT display, which is standard equipment on all models of the BMW R1250GS and Adventure range, is only held in place by three circlips and a wiring plug, believe it or not! These units can be so easily removed by hand with minimal force and stolen in mere seconds, with a per unit replacement cost of around £1,200, often plus the additional cost of up to around £3000 to have the wiring loom replaced if this is also damaged beyond further use during the theft of the unit!

The idea of this product is to simply deter opportunist thieves from snatching your TFT display, and it works by physically preventing the display from being removed outwards from the dash. Even if the three circlips are removed the screen cannot physically be removed. The brace utilizes four strong mounting points and can be used in conjunction with the `preparation for satnav` bracket, and is also designed to be used in conjunction with the Cymarc adjustable screen strengthening brackets kit. The brace is easy to fit and is near impossible to remove without tools - which is the whole idea! It comes with a comprehensive installation leaflet and full fitting kit, and there is also now various installation videos on YouTube.

This is an extremely good value for money, and equally high quality product, powder coated satin black as standard so it looks very much at home on the bike and blends in like it is original equipment, and it could save you thousands of pounds in repairs and replacement display! There is a choice between the standard brace, or the brace with the optional built-in sun visor.

Often called “The Best Of Both Worlds”, BMW Motorrad certainly has many things right with the F 850 GS and GS Adventure. Powered by 853cc in-line 2-cylinder engines, and sharing the same 6-speed gearbox and brakes. Both bikes use the easy-to-read TFT display with connectivity. When it comes to the suspension, it appears that both bikes are using the same suspension and should have the same wheel travel numbers, 9.1″ / 8.5″ (230 mm / 215 mm) front and rear. I will note that there is some confusion on the BMW websites. Canada and some European sites list them as the same, but the USA and UK for example show different suspension travel figures between the two models.

Like many models in the 2022 BMW lineup, the options list is full of goodies. I highly recommend looking at the Premium package, it includes key items such as the Dynamic ESA and Ride Modes Pro.

Connect your smartphone to the bike via bluetooth and keep an overview of the vehicle information, navigation, calls and media with the 6.5 inch TFT display. You can control all functions intuitively via the multi-controller.

Fortunately, CFMoto recently underwent a revitalization across its entire model range and company structure. And suddenly, superb motorcycles have been coming out of its factories in Eastern China. One such beast is the 400GT—a sport touring motorcycle that is deceptively easy to ride. Powered by a 400cc parallel-twin, it puts out just under 45 hp and 27 lb-ft of torque. It also has a full-color TFT display dash (much like KTM, their international partner, has on their bikes).

With the success of the BMW G310 GS and the KTM 390 Adventure, small displacement adventure touring motorcycles are definitely making a comeback. Zontes, owned by Guangdong Tayo Motorcycle Technology, has targeted that market with the 310T2—a motorcycle based around a nearly-indestructible 312cc four-stroke single that pulls like a much bigger engine, designed and developed in the UK.
