* Due to the technical limitations of digital cameras and inconsistencies of display monitors, the characteristics and colors of the fabrics seen on your screen may be slightly different than the actual product. We will be happy to provide samples of our products upon request.

North Solar Screen, LLC. warrants that its window treatments will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the original residential purchaser owns the product, provided that the product was installed properly and in accordance with the installation instructions. The limited lifetime warranty is extended to the original residential purchaser only, or for the original purchaser of shades installed in commercial, institutional, or multi-tenant facilities in the original window for which it was installed.

The warranty does not include any conditions or damages resulting from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, misapplication, improper handling, installation, repairs, operation or cleaning, exposure to any and all natural and manufactured excessive heat sources. (Excessive Heat sources include, but not limited to: magnification of sun light through cubes of glass, heaters of any kind, ovens, candles, lighting fixtures, etc.) This warranty does not cover variation in color, grain, or texture in natural wood products nor excessive warping of wood slats in high humidity areas. Loss of pleating is not covered if the product is not being cycled (held in the raised position a portion of the time). Normal wear and tear is not covered. North Solar Screen, LLC. will not assume responsibility for any labor installation problems, whether measuring or installing,( including NBI and including the installation of in-warranty replacment parts.) We do not employ installers.

All moving parts, such as cords, will eventually wear out and fabric may fray. North Solar Screen, LLC. considers these things as normal wear and tear and residential applications carry a three year limited warranty. All fabric, including fabric vanes, panels, inserts, and shades carry a five year warranty. All wood alloy and faux wood slats carry a five year warranty. Commercial applications carry a five year warranty on both fabric and moving parts.

If a shade purchased through North Solar Screen, LLC. is found to be defective in materials or workmanship, we will, at our discretion, repair, replace or refund the cost of a product which fails to conform to this limited warranty.

We reserve the right to request specific pictures/videos detailing the problem to send to our factory for inspection and final decision. We may require you to speak to factory personnel for assistance troubleshooting to determine what parts need replacing or if the product needs to be remade. We are not responsible for the payment of any labor associated with the re-installation of parts or shades. Colors vary from lot to lot and may not exactly match sample swatch, sample book, or previous purchases. Discontinued components or color selections will be replaced with the closest equivalent current product. This shall be your sole remedy under this limited warranty.

If you have trouble with your motor, contact North Solar Screen and let us have you work with Tech Support. If after going through trouble shooting steps, Tech Support tells you you need a replacement motor, let us know. You will be sent a new motor and a label for returning the defective one, using the box the new one is sent to you in.  We will take your credit card information, which will only be used if the defective motor does not come back, or if it is found that the motor was damaged by water or other abuse.

This Warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other obligations, liabilities or warranties. In no event shall North Solar Screen, LLC. or its licensed fabricators or distributors be liable for incidental or consequential damages, or for any other damage, loss or expense, cost or fee associated with such damage. In some states, exclusions for incidental or consequential damages are not allowable.

I took my D700 out for the first time outdoors on assignment and quickly discovered that the LCD screen is useless outdoors in the sunlight. Anyways, I"m looking for a LCD shade so that I can review the images. I was looking at the Hoodman Loop but was looking for something a little more portable and less expensive. To best utilize this feature, you must understand the color chart and have a basic understanding of camera exposure. Normally, when shooting subjects like people, it is common practice to set exposure of faces to the equivalent of approximately 56 IRE. The False Color filter will show this area as the color PINK on the monitor. Therefore, as you increase exposure (open the IRIS), your subject will change color as indicated on the chart: PINK, then GREY, then a few shades of YELLOW. Overexposed subjects (above 101 IRE) on the monitor will be shown as RED. In addition, underexposed subjects will show as DEEP-BLUE to DARK-BLUE, with clipped-blacks indicated with a FUCHSIA-like color. Lastly, the color GREEN is used to indicate elements of the image that are approximately 45 IRE. This represents a "neutral" or "mid-level" exposure commonly used for objects (not people).

The Peaking Filter is used to aid the camera operator in obtaining the sharpest possible picture. When activated, all color will be removed from the display and a black-and-white image will remain. The internal processor will display RED color on the screen where sharp edges appear. When the camera operator adjusts (or "racks") the focus control (on the camera lens), different parts of the image will have RED colored edges. This indicates that this portion of the image is sharp or in focus. Final focus is achieved by racking the camera lens focus control back and forth until the desired portion of the image has RED colored edges. Please note that this feature is most effective when the subject is properly exposed and contains enough contrast to be processed.

QuickShade is the best app for controlling brightness on your Mac and dimming the screen below the standard minimum brightness. You can download it directly from the App Store, and once you open the app, and you’ll see a brightness icon added to your menu bar.

With QuickShade, you can also set shortcuts to turn the brightness levels up or down. To do this, click the QuickShade icon in the menu bar and select Preferences.

Brightness Slider is similar to QuickShade in functionality. You can download it from the App Store and, once opened, a brightness icon will appear in the menu bar, similar to QuickShade’s. However, the slider is vertical here, with a preferences button at the bottom.

In Brightness Slider’s preferences, you’ll find almost all the options also available in QuickShade, except Brightness Slider also offers an option to Restore last brightness value when opening. Combined with Launch at login, this feature lets you automate the job of controlling your Mac’s screen brightness.

Brightness control apps simply add a gray overlay to your screen and let you control its opacity. These apps do not put stress on your screen and are simple tools designed to make the screen appear dimmer. Screens have the ability to display all colors from full white to full black, so dimming them shouldn’t have any negative effect.

However, apps that make your screen brighter can be damaging. They can force your screen’s LEDs to produce more light than they’re typically capable of—you should avoid using such apps.

With either of QuickShade, Brightness Slider, or Shady, you can enjoy a comfortable working experience in the dark. By sitting quietly in your menu bar, these apps allow you to go below the lowest brightness level for your Mac’s screen. However, be sure to not go too low, as that can strain your eyes, too.

It’s also possible that brightness isn’t the only thing straining your eyes while working. With features like Night Shift and Screen Time or apps like f.lux and Aware, you can control the temperature of your Mac’s screen and monitor how long you’ve been looking at it. These apps help protect your eyes even more.
