sharp memory lcd module in stock
This is a simple breakout board for Sharp"s new Memory LCD displays ( LS013B4DN02,LS013B4DN04, LS013B7DH03 as well as LS027B7DH01). It brings all pins to a 0.1" header and provides necessary caps and resistors. The new revision A2 also adds an optional boost converter for those wanting to run 5V display from sub 3.3V supply. The footprints are there, but parts are not populated to save cost. This is an open source hardware design under CC BY SA license. The display is not included as there are now several types of them, and depending on your needs you would be using a 5V or a 3.3V version or even the larger 2.7" version. Contact me and I"ll point you to a source of displays.
The Adafruit 2.7" 400x240 SHARP Memory Display Breakout is a chonky cross between an eInk (e-paper) display and an LCD. It has the ultra-low power usage of eInk and the fast-refresh rates of an LCD.
This model has a gray background, and the pixels show up as black-on-gray for a nice e-reader type display. It does not have a backlight, but it is daylight readable. For dark/nighttime reading you may need to illuminate the LCD area with external LEDs.
The 1.3" 168x144 SHARP Memory LCD display is a cross between an eInk (e-paper) display and an LCD. It has the ultra-low power usage of eInk and the fast-refresh rates of an LCD.

Our friends over at Adafruit have made this nifty, little breakout using one of SHARP"s silver monochrome memory displays. This little board houses a 1.3", 96x96 screen that performs similarly to an e-paper display with its ultra-low power usage and an LCD with its fast-refresh rates. The SHARP Memory Display does not include a backlight and is readable in daylight but you may need a little assistance reading it in the dark with an external light source.
The 1.3" 168x144 SHARP Memory LCD display is a cross between an eInk (e-paper) display and an LCD. The display is "write only" which means that it only needs 3 pins to send data. However, the downside of a write-only display is that the entire 168x144 bits (3 KB) must be buffered by the microcontroller driver. That means you cannot use this with an ATmega328 (e.g. Arduino UNO) or ATmega32u4 (Feather 32u4, etc). You must use a high-RAM chip such as ATSAMD21 (Feather M0), Teensy 3, ESP8266, ESP32, etc. On those chips, this display works great and looks wonderful.

The 1.3" and 2.7" SHARP Memory LCD displays are a cross between an eInk (e-paper) display and an LCD. They have the ultra-low power usage of eInk and the fast-refresh rates of an LCD. This model has a matt silver background, and pixels show up as little mirrors for a silver-reflective display, a really beautiful and unique look. It does not have a backlight, but it is daylight readable. For dark/night reading you may need to illuminate the LCD area with external LEDs.
Then download and install our SHARP Memory Display library and the Adafruit GFX library. Run the example sharpmemtest sketch with the correct data pins to start drawing lines, circles, rectangles, text, etc!
