Knowing where to buy RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti video cards for MSRP in February isn"t anywhere near as complicated as it was 12 months prior. With the RTX 40 series now being formally unveiled (though, no RTX 4070 to speak of yet), the mid-range Ampere card will co-exist alongside Ada Lovelace until next year.

We"ve had an RTX 3070 Ti in one of our gaming setups for a while, and it"s easily one of the best graphics cards on the market for the money. It"s definitely worth seeking one out if you"re interested in 1440p and 4K even two years after release.

If you"re wanting to build or upgrade your machine into one of the best gaming PCs that you can, either of these GPUs will see you through. It"s not a cheap process, however. We"re also experiencing the inevitable price jumps that come with a new year. And with the cost of living affecting us all more than ever, finding that killer deal can make one hell of a difference to the overall cost.

Nvidia RTX 3070 was launched with an MSRP of $499 and an RRP of £469. It offers very capable performance for its price tag, with its 5,888 CUDA cores and 8GB VRAM clocked at 1.73GHz. There"s little debate that both the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti are extremely powerful GPUs for Full HD, 1440p with little to no compromises, as well as decent 4K performance.

If you"re interested in the fast-track approach to an RTX 3070 or RTX 3070 Ti GPU then the best advice we can offer right now to avoid splashing out necessarily is to aim for the RTX 3070 laptop deals or RTX 3070 PC deals to circumvent the spiking graphics card market at the moment.

But, yesterday, I did the unthinkable. I saddled up to Best Buy’s website eight hours after the retailer’s weekly drop and bought an RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition for its $599 MSRP.

I had a $499 RTX 3070 Founders Edition in my cart, too. And those finds weren’t a fluke: both of those GPUs were still available when we checked back this morning. The 3070 FE is still there as I type these words. So is the 3070 Ti. AMD.com currently has the Radeon RX 6750 XT, 6900 XT, and 6950 XT in stock for MSRP, too.

It was also Nvidia’s most popular and best bang for your buck cards — the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 — that saw the biggest dips. Of those cards, the 3060 Ti is the only used GPU that can’t be had at or under MSRP on average. Meanwhile, an average AMD card will cost you $100 less than MSRP.

First, let’s state the obvious: the chips that power these GPUs are now two years old. In October 2020, $500 might have been a great price for an RTX 3070, but is it still a great price in July 2022 now that new ones are on the way? The RTX 40 series and AMD’s RDNA 3 are both expected this fall and could offer significant performance jumps.

That goes double if you’re looking at one of the cards that Nvidia and AMD introduced later in the GPU shortage at a higher MSRP than their performance would suggest. I recommend taking a look at this handy3DCenter / VideoCardzchart of how much GPUs should cost, normalized against an RTX 3070.

Reportedly, one big reason used GPU prices are tanking is because crypto miners are flooding the market with cards that are no longer profitable due to the ongoing crypto crash, where the total market cap of all crypto assets has fallen by two-thirds since its peak of $3 trillion last November. (Miners have been switching away from GPUs for some time, though.)

Whether it was used for gaming or mining, maybe buy locally or from a site with good buyer protection — there have been reports of damaged GPUs among the flood. If you do get the chance to test, here’s a Gamers Nexus video that can walk you through potential red flags.

Prefer new instead of used? Outside of my Best Buy Founders Edition finds, things aren’t quite as rosy — because you’re going to have to deal with the desire of Nvidia and AMD board partners and retailers to make as much money as possible now that they have inventory to clear.

Falcodrin, the GPU hunter I profiled last December, tells me that new GPU prices have been all over the place, and it’s not hard to find evidence of that: Best Buy is stocking third-party RTX 3060 Ti cards that cost substantially more than the more powerful RTX 3070 I had in my cart. If you want to buy a card with a fancy cooler for twice MSRP, you’ve still got plenty of options because an across the board price drop hasn’t yet arrived.

Instead of drops, they’re still trying to attract customers with sales, like EVGA’s anniversary sale today, where an RTX 3080 can be had for only $80 over MSRP and both the 3080 Ti and 3090 Ti are under MSRP.

But, if you’re the kind of person who will be satisfied with a current-gen GPU instead of waiting for next gen, it sounds like those price cuts might be coming. Seeing how some first-party GPUs can be had at MSRP, EVGA’s sales, and that 3DCenter price index, it’s not hard to see room for the rest of the prices to sink.

Nvidia revealed its new RTX 3000 line of Ampere-powered GPU earlier this month, featuring the RTX 3090, 3080, and 3070 cards. The new 3000 series is the second generation of RTX graphics cards that will run features like real-time ray tracing with much higher performance than current RTX cards. Here"s what we know about each card so far, including specs, price, release date, and more.

For first-hand impressions, don"t pass up the chance to read our review of the RTX 3080, which called it a "powerful video card with big generational jumps."

The RTX 3080 is set to launch on September 17 for $700 USD, and the RTX 3070 was also revealed with a release window in October and a price of $500. The massive high-end card, the RTX 3090, is said to be capable of 8K resolution at 60 FPS performance--the RTX 3090 will launch on September 24 and pricing starts at a whopping $1500. RTX 3000 series pre-orders are not yet available, but Nvidia"s website does have a "notify me" button if you"re eager to place an order. Traditionally, a new line of GPUs sells out quickly when they first go up for pre-order, and that could easily be the case here due to Nvidia"s surprisingly aggressive pricing.

For the full technical specs, you can check out our table below for the important details on the Founders Editions of the new Ampere cards. That includes power supply requirements: The 3070 calls for a 650W PSU, while both the 3080 and 3090 need a 750W PSU. You can also get a look at the dimensions of each, with the 3090 measuring in at more than 12 inches long and requiring three slots. All three cards support HDMI 2.1.RTX 3090RTX 3080RTX 3070CUDA Cores1049687045888

Compared to the Turing-based RTX 2080, the Ampere-based RTX 3080 will be built with 30 shader-TFLOPS (2.7x), 58 RT-TFLOPS (1.7x), and 283 Tensor-TFLOPS (2.7x). Plenty of other details were given in Nvidia"s reveal video, which you can watch a clip of below.

Also during the Nvidia stream, we learned that Fortnite will add ray tracing and DLSS support on PC. The company also showcased Cyberpunk 2077"s ray tracing effects and shared a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer to show off ray tracing. Black Ops Cold War will be a cross-generational and cross-play release, with players able to enjoy the game together regardless of platform. It"s out November 13.

Too damn much! Jokes aside, NVIDIA has announced their 3070 Ti Founders models will start at $599 so expect to pay a good couple hundred dollars more for the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G. AIB cards are also a bit more expensive, especially the top models so this is nothing new really, just a shame things cost more when the prices are already inflated as much as they currently are. We’ve said it many times now, there is so much going on that is leading to all these increases and well, it just sucks! However, there is not much we can do but try to wait it out and hope that it will get better in the future.

The Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G is an absolute beast if I’ve not said it enough times yet! This card is not only the biggest 3070 Ti we have tested, it was also the best performing and rightly so. The AORUS MASTER is Gigabyte’s top of the range model and it is easy to see why! It definitely has a lot to offer in terms of looks with its multiple RGB zones, MASSIVE cooler and customizable LCD screen. If you are looking for the best of the best when it comes to the new 3070 Ti’s, this one definitely needs to be on the list to look into and check out. Gigabyte has done an amazing job with this card and seems to have ticked all the boxes necessary to make it one of the better ones available on the market.

NVIDIA has added a hashrate limiter to their latest 3080 Ti and now 3070 Ti range of GPUs. The idea is to decrease the Eth hashrate so that the cards aren’t as attractive to miners, which should in turn mean more of them make their way into the hands of gamers. While there are still a few other issues causing GPU shortages and increased prices, it is nice to see NVIDIA at least trying to help things along and make sure gamers can get their hands on some new GPUs. From our in-house testing, what we have seen is the 3070 Ti based cards are hashing at about half of the speed we would expect to see from them so whatever NVIDIA is doing is working.

How long is a piece of string? At this point in time, I would say if you are in desperate need of an upgrade then yeah, these are good cards and will last you for a good few years. However, if your current GPU does the trick and you just have the upgrade itch just to get something newer, it may be worth holding out. This isn’t anything against the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G itself but the whole market is currently a mess! Maybe we can get Elon Musk to say GPU mining is dead and hope that it might help reduce the price of cards a little bit or at least flood the market with second-hand cards. I mean, got to be worth a shot right? We don’t have much to lose the way I see it. Regardless, the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G is an amazing card and if prices were where they should be, I would have no issues with recommending you buy one ASAP.

The prices for the next generation of RTX “amp” graphics cards seem to have been filtered out. We are talking about RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060. The price of the upcoming cards is something that can change in the last hour before they are issued, so this information should be treated with caution.

Interestingly, the price of the cards doesn’t make much sense compared to the increase in cores (which is only 20% on the RTX 3090 compared to the RTX 2080 Ti), unless Nvidia has an ace up its sleeve to dramatically increase performance. A 30% performance increase is something that players now readily expect from the company, and it would require more than a 50% increase to justify the price per performance demanded by Nvidia. The company will undoubtedly also expect AMD to go ahead with Big Navi and adjust or reduce prices accordingly.

We have an announcement in regards to MSRP price changes that are effective in early 2021 for our award-winning series of graphic cards and motherboards. Our new MSRP reflects increases in cost for components, operating costs, and logistical activities plus a continuation of import tariffs. We worked closely with our supply and logistic partners to minimize price increases. ASUS greatly appreciates your continued business and support as we navigate through this time of unprecedented market change.

So this now means there is a variant of the RTX 3080 for over US$1,000 (ROG Strix RTX 3080 White OC -US$1,049.99) and there is a mention of the white version of the RTX 3070 priced at a whopping US$779.99. That latter graphics card had a launch price of US$499 for the basic design when it was released in October.
