If you can afford it, treat yourself to the Sofabaton X1. I use this remote to control my Sonos speakers, my Philips Hue lights, several streamers, as well as my home theater. And I love it for all of the above reasons.

What I like best personally about using x1 with Sonos is the Alexa integration. I can just say, “Alexa play Rock music.” And it automatically plays my Rock playlist on my Sonos speakers in the desired rooms at the desired volume.

Boutique gaming mouse manufacturer Finalmouse has big plans for its first foray into the mechanical keyboard market. Its Finalmouse Centerpiece is an eye-catching $349 keyboard that has a screen embedded underneath its transparent keycaps and switches. The effect is that it looks like you’re typing on the screen directly, while (hopefully) maintaining the feel and tactility of traditional mechanical switches.

There’s been at least one similar attempt at this idea made in the past: the Optimus Popularis. But while the Popularis used its screen (which was only visible through its individual transparent keys) to display useful information like keyboard shortcuts, Finalmouse’s seems to be far more cosmetic.

In the trailer, we see the keyboard showing a number of different visualizations, including Matrix-style green scrolling text and nature videos. Sometimes they’re interactive — like a pool of water that dynamically splashes when you touch a corresponding key — and in one case, the keyboard is even shown running a simple interactive game. The company is calling the technology behind this combination display and mechanical switch its “DisplayCircuit Glass Stack.”

In a move that’s presumably meant to allow as much screen as possible to shine through each keycap, their legends are printed on the front (rather than the top) of each key, which I can’t imagine is going to make them easy to read — especially not when the screen is in action.

The Apple HomePod is on its way. It’s been delayed for months, but while its arrival is exciting, Sonos is absolutely not going to let a young buck in the smart speaker game steal its thunder — even if it comes from Apple. After Apple announced that the HomePod would retail for $349, Sonos fired back immediately, announcing that for a limited time, you can now get two Sonos One smart speakers for $349. The Sonos is one of the best smart speakers on the market, and it’s a system that we’re already well familiar with. Get it before promotional stock runs out.

Also, if using an HDMI screen/TV, it’s probably more convenient to power the Pi via USB port on the TV. Don’t need an extra outlet available and Pi would only get power when the TV is on.  Although it looks like the Pi Zero W sellers don’t recommend something like that due to unreliable voltage. Might be something I would try anyways.

Incredible, yes, but what about all of us long-time Sonos loyalists with our Play:1 speakers and Playbars? Don"t worry, Sonos is not leaving us behind. Now your favorite speaker is taking requests...

As of October 4th, if you have an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot, you can wirelessly connect your existing Sonos speakers to Alexa voice assistant devices to use your voice to play and control songs, playlists, radio stations, podcasts, etc. That"s for anySonos speaker, in any room of your home.

Simply update your Sonos system to Sonos 8.0, turn on the Sonos Skill in your Alexa app, and ask Alexa to find your Sonos devices. Alexa will find your Sonos speakers, wherever they are - and teach them to listen and obey. (Step-by-step set-up instructions below).

For starters, it means no more getting up and pushing buttons or looking for (or fumbling with) your smartphone or tablet. Just ask, and you shall receive. Manage your playlist and access your entire digital music library and, as Sonos puts it, all the music on Earth (Pandora, Sirius, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music and more). Request songs while you cook, check the weather or sports scores from the shower, play Jeopardy... with complete hands free freedom. All you have to do is ask.

Sonos will do anything that Alexa can do including work with other smart home enabled devices, so you can dim the lights, control your thermostat, etc. And she will continue to get smarter over time - better at recognizing your voice and faster at executing your commands. Plus, you"ll benefit from Sonos" future-proofing with continual updates, new skills and services (Spotify control, Applie AirPlay 2, Google Assistant, over 80 streaming services - coming in 2018).

There’s the Sonos One, the One SL, and the Five. The Arc and the Beam. Yes, the Sonos product line is flexible and diverse, and just about anyone can find a solution for their needs. But with plenty of options also comes the paradox of choice — Where do you start? What Sonos speakers are best for you? What"s the difference?

If you’re asking yourself those questions, you’ve come to the right place. We put this guide together to demystify and simplify Sonos, and bring you closer to delivering beautiful, wireless music in every room in your home.

Before we dive in, let"s take a quick look at Sonos and wireless multi-room audio. (Already familiar with Sonos? Jump ahead to the "Choosing the right Sonos speakers" section.)

Sonosis a multi-room wireless streaming system. Let"s take that one step at a time. A Sonos “system” consists of a streaming device, amplifier, and speaker, all contained within one unit, like theSonos One speakersound bar. You plug the speaker into a wall power outlet, download the free Sonos app onto your smartphone, iPad, or computer, and Sonos will walk you through setup, step-by-step so that you"re off and running in no time. Every Sonos product connects to your home"s Wi-Fi, so you can play your music wirelessly from a music streaming service like Spotify or TIDAL, or from your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

When you add more than one Sonos speaker to your home, you can play a different song in each room or listen to the same one throughout the house, which is where "multi-room" comes in. From small and compact for a kitchen or bathroom to larger and versatile speakers for a home theater surround sound, all are designed to deliver big, room-filling audio anywhere you put them. (Sonos speakers will even optimize it based on your room"s acoustics, thanks to the easy to use, built-in audio calibration technology called TruePlay.)

Instead of buying music song by song, wireless streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, Qobuz, or TIDAL give you instant access to almost any song or album recorded, ever, via a monthly or annual subscription of about $15 (or roughly the price of one CD). You don’t own the music; you are listening to it, continuously streaming over your Wi-Fi and into a pair of Sonos speakers. This is very different from Bluetooth, where you are transmitting the music from your phone (and as a result, every alert and sound your phone makes, too). Choosing the right Sonos speaker for you.You can start small and purchase any Sonos piece a la carte over time, mixing and matching your way to suit your audio needs. Every Sonos product works great on its own, but the real magic of Sonos happens when you expand your system. Before we get into building your multi-room audio system, let"s meet the essential Sonos lineup.

Similar to the original Play:1 in size and sound, the Sonos One comes with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built-in, so you can control your music with simple voice commands and access all of Alexa"s awesome skills (get weather and news updates, turn the lights on and off, etc.). The One also gives you voice control over other Sonos speakers in your home, so if you have a One SL (which doesn"t have voice built-in) in the kitchen, you can tell the One to play a song through that speaker. Pretty cool.

The Sonos One SL is a powerful microphone-free speaker that gives you the same rich, room-filling sound and all of the same features as the Sonos One, just without voice control built-in. The "SL" stands for speechless - so Sonos quite literallydropped the micon this one. You can control the One SL with theSonosapp or Apple AirPlay 2. If you"re looking for voice control, simply include at least one other Sonos smart speaker in your setup, like or theBeam or theOne. Or you can use Amazon Echo and Google Home products to control One SL with your voice. There is no benefit to having multiple products with built-in voice control in the same room. With the One SL at a lower price point than the One or the Beam, this allows you to save some money on the rest of your system.

The largest speaker in the Sonos family designed for delivering the richest audio into larger rooms. The Five sounds incredible on its own, but it is designed to work best as a stereo pair, thanks to the six Class-D amplifiers and six dedicated speaker drivers inside. And depending on how you orient the Play:5, you"ll get a different audio experience: lay it horizontally for a wide sound stage or vertically to create a more direct sound stage.

But how is the Sonos Five different than its predecessor, the Play:5? To start, it"s got a chic new monochromatic look and new technology focused on increasing memory and processing power to provide improved performance. Enhanced TruePlay, Sonos" proprietary tuning technology, optimizes the sound for the unique acoustics of your room, calibrating the height channels for precise localization.

TheArcDolby Atmos sound bar is the long-awaited sound bar update from Sonos. It"s sleeker and sexier with curved edges and less overall depth than it"s best-selling predecessor,the PLAYBAR. This 3D sound-enabled sound bar features 11 high-performance drivers for bass, clear dialogue, and a realistic 5.0.2 sound experience.

This multipurpose piece let"s you play your music, check the news, set alarms, and more with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control built right in. Stream music, radio, and podcasts from your favorite services with the Sonos app or Apple AirPlay 2 when the TV is off. But, let"s be real, this is a sound bar first and foremost... and, we"re impressed.

The most obvious difference between the Sonos Arc and the Playbar (aside from cosmetic), is the addition of Dolby Atmos. Arc"s 3D Dolby Atmos sound comes from its upward-firing drivers that create a multi-dimensional soundstage that moves around you. Arc"s advanced processing creates five channels that deliver sound to your ears from all directions at the exact right moment. And, Sonos" Trueplay tuning technology optimizes the sound for the unique acoustics of your room, calibrating the height channels for precise localization.

TheRayis Sonos’ most affordable and compact soundbar to date. The Ray utilizes a speaker array that uses four Class-D digital amplifiers, has two tweeters (off center), two elliptical Mid-woofers (centered), and proprietary low-velocity ports as part of Sonos’ bass reflex system to help lower distortion. Sonos also put in two split waveguides at the tweeter locations that expand the soundstage so the tweeter sound spreads wider and encompasses the room. All of the speaker elements are front facing, meaning you can tuck away the Ray in a TV cabinet without interfering with its sound quality (not something you can do with the ARC and probably shouldn’t with the Beam).

You can also use the Sonos AMP to power in-wall, in-ceiling, or other passive speakers as surrounds.

That also makes it the most flexible speaker in the Sonos family with three real use cases: 1) Add it to your existing Sonos network in your home and continue to expand your multi-room audio system as another tabletop speaker. The Move integrates seamlessly with other Sonos speakers. 2) Take it outside by the pool or patio - thanks to its durable, weatherproof design and IP56 rating - and continue streaming music via your Sonos network (so long as you still have a wifi signal). 3) Here"s the standout differentiator: switch it over to Bluetooth mode and take it with you wherever you go. So you canmovewith your Move.

The Roam is Sonos" first evercompactportable Bluetooth and WiFi smart speaker. And, while smaller and lighter than anything else in the Sonos family of speakers, Sonos still managed to pack an amazing Sonos-worthy feature set into something weighing in at less than a pound.

Getting Started Adding a Sonos CONTROL Note: The Sonos CONTROL requires that you have one or more Sonos players and a wireless router set up in your home. Sonos components are sold separately. Connect the power adapter to the back of the charging cradle (included) and plug the cradle into a power outlet. Place the Sonos CONTROL into the charging cradle to wake it up (the screen will come alive when it’s ready), and then follow the CONTROL’s on-screen instructions to add it to your Sonos system.

2 Product Guide Tour the Sonos CONTROL Navigation Rooms Touch to select a room to play music in, to view the music selections playing in each room, or to create or modify room groups in order to share the same music across rooms. You can also use this button to lock the Sonos CONTROL so that nothing happens when you touch the screen (such as when cleaning the screen, or carrying the CONTROL in your pocket.) To lock the Sonos CONTROL, touch and hold for two (2) seconds. To unlock, simply touch and hold the button again. Music menu Touch to browse or select music, access playlists, and change the default settings for a Sonos component.

Sonos CONTROL 3 View Queue Touch to view the tracks in the current queue. Back Touch to return to the previous screen. Info & Options Touch on the Now Playing screen to view additional choices or view more information for a music selection. Playback Controls Play / Pause Toggles between playing and pausing the current track. Next / Fast Forward Jumps to the start of the next track in the music queue. Touching and holding this control displays the track position slider while you move forward through the current track. Previous / Rewind If you are more than 3 seconds into the track, this control returns to the start of the current track; if you are less than 3 seconds into the track, this control jumps to the start of the previous track. Touching and holding this control displays the track position slider while you skip backward through the current track. Sensors and Indicators Light sensor The light sensor automatically turns on the button backlights based upon the brightness of the environment. Wireless signal strength Indicates the current strength of the CONTROL’s wireless signal. indicator Battery charge indicator Indicates the CONTROL’s remaining battery charge.

4 Product Guide Volume Volume Control Use the volume control buttons to increase (+) or decrease (-) the volume in any room, or across a room group. Mute Temporarily silences the music in a room. Touch again to unmute. To mute all rooms, touch and hold for 3 seconds. Touch and hold for 3 seconds to unmute all rooms. Settings Lock You can lock the Sonos CONTROL so that nothing happens when you touch the LCD touch screen or buttons. Choose one of the following options: • From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Lock Controller. Or, • Touch and hold for two (2) seconds. When ready to unlock, simply touch and hold for two (2) seconds. Sounds The Sonos CONTROL makes a clicking sound when you touch a selection. You can choose to turn all sounds on, turn all sounds off, or enable keyboard sounds only. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Controller Sounds. Light Sleep The Sonos CONTROL will go into light sleep (the screen will turn off) to preserve the battery life when it is unused for a specified period of time. When motion is detected or a button is pressed, the Sonos CONTROL awakens immediately. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Sleep Timer Undocked/Docked. • Sleep Timer Docked (when CONTROL is seated in charging cradle) • Sleep Timer Undocked (when CONTROL is not seated in charging cradle or attached to power) Screen Brightness 1. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Screen Brightness. 2. Drag your finger across the slider to adjust the brightness of the controller screen. Button Brightness 1. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Button Brightness. 2. Drag your finger across the slider to adjust the brightness of the buttons on your controller.

Sonos CONTROL 5 The button brightness is controlled by the light sensor, so the button brightness will vary depending upon your environment (such as whether it’s night or day, or whether your are inside or outside your home.) Motion sensor The Sonos CONTROL has a motion sensor to automatically wake it up when motion is detected. Select this setting if you wish to disable the motion sensor. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Motion Sensor. Language Use this setting to change the language setting for your Sonos CONTROL. From the Settings menu, select Controller Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Language. Turning Off the Controller 1. Touch Controller Settings from the Settings menu. 2. Touch Advanced Settings -> Turn Off Controller. To turn it back on, simply place the controller into the charging cradle. Use this setting to put your Sonos CONTROL into deep sleep anytime it will not be in use for an extended period of time, or when you are transporting the controller to another destination. (The Sonos CONTROL cannot be turned off while it is seated in the charging cradle.) Recharging The Sonos CONTROL can be recharged by placing it in the Sonos Charging Cradle. The Battery Charge Indicator on your controller displays the current battery charge level. To extend the battery life, it’s best not to let the Lithium Ion battery discharge completely before recharging. Keep the controller seated in the charging cradle when not in use, as this type of battery does not suffer from memory effect and can be charged anytime. If the battery charge begins to run low, a message will appear on your controller screen indicating that it’s time to recharge. Simply place it in the cradle to recharge. If you should miss this message and the CONTROL’s battery discharges completely, simply place the controller into the charging cradle. The CONTROL’s light sensor will turn orange, indicating that a reset is in process. It will take a few minutes for the controller screen to wake up. Battery Replacement After several years (depending upon usage), the battery on your CONTROL may not hold a charge as long as it once did. You can purchase a replacement battery (visit our website at www.sonos.com for more information), and then follow the instructions below to replace the battery. Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. (Check with your local waste or recycling company to determine the proper disposal method in your area.)

6 Product Guide 1. Remove the battery door on the back of your CONTROL. Slide the battery door back, and then lift it off 2. Remove the existing battery by gently pulling the gray battery tab toward you to dislodge the battery, and then lift up to remove. 3. Remove the protective wrap from the new battery. 4. Insert the battery into the battery compartment with the Sonos logo facing out, making sure the battery snaps gently into place. 5. Close the battery door. 6. Place the Sonos CONTROL into the charging cradle to wake it up. Managing Rooms Sonos lets you enjoy music in up to 32 rooms, inside or out. You can play a different song in every room or play the same song in every room. Group the kitchen and patio together when you’re barbecuing; group the rooms throughout your home in perfect synchronization for a party; or leave all your rooms ungrouped so that everyone can make a different music choice. You can also create a stereo pair with two PLAY:1®s, PLAY:3®s, or PLAY:5®s in the same room to enhance your listening experience. Grouping Rooms Any number of rooms can be grouped together to play the same audio in synchrony. • You can group or ungroup rooms while music is playing. • You can group all the Sonos players in your house with one touch by choosing Select All. • You can group rooms first and then select the music you want to play, or you can add room(s) to a location where music is already playing. Any rooms you group will automatically drop their current music queue and begin to play the music from the selected room. • If you want to be able to play a music queue later, save the queue as a Sonos playlist before you group the rooms. See "Sonos Playlists" on page 12 for more information.

Sonos CONTROL 7 1. Press . 2. Touch Group to the right of the room you want to group with other rooms. 3. Check the rooms you want to add to this group, and then touch Done. If you want to group all the rooms in your house, touch Select All from the Group Rooms screen. All of your Sonos components will play the same music in synchrony until you remove rooms from the group. Ungrouping Rooms 1. Press . 2. Touch Group to the right of the room group you want to change. 3. Uncheck the room(s) you want to remove from the group, and then touch Done.

Sonos includes a radio guide that provides immediate access to thousands of free Internet radio stations and broadcast programs. You can easily find Internet radio stations from all over the world—music, news, and variety programming, including archived shows and podcasts. You can also add your own favorite stations if they use streaming MP3, AAC, or WMA formats (not every radio station provides streams). What is a music service? A music service is an online music store or online service that sells audio on a per-song, per audiobook, or subscription basis. Sonos is compatible with several music services - you can visit our website at www.sonos.com/music for the latest list. What is your local music library? Your local music library includes digital music located anywhere on your home network such as: • shared folders on your computer • shared folders on another computer in your network • Network-Attached Storage (NAS) devices You can browse your music library in various ways. You can enter search criteria to quickly find a particular music selection, or you can browse through a category hierarchy to make music selections. Note: If a computer on your network is turned off or is in standby mode, the music folders on that computer are unavailable to the Sonos system until the computer is turned back on. Your choices include: • Artists • Albums

You can add audio selections to your Sonos Favorites from any controller. Once you’ve added a favorite, it appears under Sonos Favorites on the Music menu. What is a Sonos playlist? A Sonos playlist is a music queue you create and then save for future listening. For example, you might want to create a jazz playlist, a party playlist, or an easy listening playlist. What is a docked iPod? The Sonos DOCK allows you to play music stored on your docked iPod or iPhone in any or every room of your home, all perfectly synchronized. What is Line-in? You can connect an external source like a CD player, portable music player, television, or AirPlay device to your Sonos system, and stream the audio to any or all Sonos components (PLAY:5, CONNECT™, or CONECT:AMP™) around your house. Radio Sonos includes a radio guide that provides access to thousands of free Internet radio stations and broadcast programs. You can easily find radio from all over the world — music, news, and variety programming, including archived shows and podcasts. • Sonos currently supports MP3, AAC, and WMA streaming audio formats. • If you can’t find your favorite radio station or show, go to http://faq.sonos.com/radio for more information. • Once you’ve set your location, select Radio from the Music menu to play a radio station. Selecting a local radio location Selecting a local radio location will give you easy access to local radio stations in that city. There are two ways you can set your location: • by entering a zip code (U.S. only) • by selecting a city

10 Product Guide 1. From the Music menu, touch Radio. 2. Touch Local Radio -> Change Location. 3. Choose one of the following options: • Select Enter ZIP Code as your search criteria and then use the keyboard to enter a ZIP code. Or, • Select Pick a City as your search criteria, and then use your finger to browse the list and make a selection. Adding a station or show to My Radio When you add a radio station to My Radio Stations (or a show to My Radio Shows), it is duplicated, not removed, from the original radio list. 1. From the Music menu, touch Radio. 2. Browse to find a radio station or radio show. 3. Select the station or show, and then touch . 4. Touch Add to My Radio Stations or Add to My Radio Shows. Removing a station or show from My Radio 1. From the Music menu, touch Radio. 2. Touch My Radio Stations or My Radio Shows. 3. Select the radio station or radio show you want to remove. 4. Touch . 5. Touch Remove from My Radio Stations or Remove from My Radio Shows. Adding a station or show to your Sonos Favorites Sonos Favorites gives you quick access to the music you love most. Once you add a station or show to your Sonos Favorites, play it by selecting it from your Sonos Favorites on the MUSIC menu. For additional information, see "Sonos Favorites" on page 10. 1. From the Music menu, select Radio. 2. Touch the station or show you want to add to your Sonos Favorites. 3. Touch . 4. Select Add to Sonos Favorites.

Sonos CONTROL 11 Sonos Favorites Sonos Favorites gives you quick and easy access to the music you love the most. You can add audio selections to your Sonos Favorites from any controller. Once you create a Favorite, it appears under Sonos Favorites on the MUSIC menu. Note: Audio from docked iPods, wireless playback from iOS and Android devices, and line-in sources cannot be added to Sonos Favorites since these music sources may not always be available to your Sonos system. Adding a Sonos Favorite 1. From the MUSIC menu, browse to find the selection you want to add to your Sonos Favorites. Note: Sonos Playlists can’t be added to Sonos Favorites using the CONTROL. Use a different controller if you want to do this. 2. Touch , and choose Add to Sonos Favorites. If there are multiple accounts for the music service associated with your Sonos system, the nickname for the music service account used to create the favorite appears below the selection in the Sonos Favorites list. Note: To add the selection you are currently listening to, touch from the NOW PLAYING pane and choose Add to Sonos Favorites. Playing a Sonos Favorite 1. From the Rooms screen, touch the room you want to play music in. 2. Select Sonos Favorites from the MUSIC menu. 3. Touch the selection you wish to play, and choose one of the following options: • Play Now to add the selection to the end of the queue and start playing it. • Play Next to add the selection to the music queue as the next selection to play. • Add to Queue to add the selection to the end of your music queue. • Replace Queue to remove the contents of the current queue and replace it with this selection. • to display additional options, such as adding a track to your Sonos Favorites or viewing artist/album information. Note: The options that appear depend on the music source you have selected. Adding a Sonos Favorite to a Sonos playlist 1. Select Sonos Favorites from the MUSIC menu. 2. Touch the favorite you want to add to a playlist. 3. Touch , and choose Add to Sonos Playlist. Note: The options that appear depend on the music source you have selected.

12 Product Guide 4. Touch New Playlist or select an existing playlist. Deleting a Sonos Favorite 1. Select Sonos Favorites from the MUSIC menu. 2. Touch Edit. 3. Touch the selection you wish to delete, and choose Delete Favorite. 4. When you are finished editing favorites, touch Done. Renaming a Sonos Favorite 1. Select Sonos Favorites from the MUSIC menu. 2. Touch Edit. 3. Touch the selection you wish to rename, and choose Rename Favorite. 4. When you are finished editing favorites, touch Done. Note: When you rename a Sonos Favorite playlist, the playlist name remains unchanged if you access it through the Sonos Playlists menu option. Sonos Playlists Sonos playlists are music queues you create and save for future listening. For example, you might want to create a jazz playlist, a party playlist, or an easy listening playlist. Once you’ve created a playlist, simply select Sonos Playlists from the Music menu to play it back. Note: You can build playlists from multiple music service accounts, but you will not have the ability to see which account the tracks came from. Adding a Sonos playlist While browsing music, you can create a Sonos playlist or add to an existing playlist. Simply touch and choose Add to Sonos Playlist. Touch New Playlist or select an existing playlist. Note: The options that appear depend on the music source you have selected. You can also save a music queue as a Sonos playlist by choosing Save while viewing the queue. Note: Tracks that reside on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, or on your Android device are not included in a Sonos playlist. Sonos CONTROL 13 Moving tracks within a playlist 1. From the Music menu, touch Sonos Playlists. 2. Select a playlist. 3. Touch Edit. 4. Touch and hold to the right of the track. 5. Drag the track to a new location in the playlist and then let go of the button. Removing a track from a playlist 1. From the Music menu, touch Sonos Playlists. 2. Select a playlist. 3. Touch Edit. 4. Touch to the left of the track. The track disappears from the playlist. Deleting a Sonos playlist 1. From the Music menu, touch Sonos Playlists. 2. Touch Edit. 3. Select a playlist, and then touch Delete. 4. Touch Delete, and then Done. Note: If you delete a playlist that is also a Sonos Favorite, see "Deleting a Sonos Favorite" on page 12 to remove it from your Sonos Favorites. Renaming a Sonos playlist 1. From the Music menu, touch Sonos Playlists. 2. Touch Edit. 3. Touch to select a playlist, and then touch Rename. 4. Use the keyboard to type a new name for the playlist, and then touch OK. 5. 14 Product Guide Playing Music You can select music by touching the Music menu and drilling down through a selected source, or you can search for music in a specific source. Searching for Music You can use the search feature to look for music selections within your music library or some music services. 1. From the Music menu, select the music source your want to search (your music library or a music service.) 2. Touch Search, and select a search criteria (artists, albums, composers, or tracks). 3. Use the keyboard to type a full or partial name. 4. If you don’t receive any search results, touch to try again.

Sonos CONTROL 15 Managing the Music Queue Once you have added tracks to a queue, you can make changes to the music queue using the queue controls. Sonos playlists are music queues you create and save for future listening. For more information, see "Sonos Playlists" on page 12. Note: Wireless playback from iOS and Android devices allows you to select and play music and podcasts stored on any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device that’s on the same network as your Sonos products. If there are tracks in the queue from a mobile device that is not currently available to Sonos, you may see a message indicating that the selection cannot be played at this time. Removing a track from the queue 1. Touch . 2. Touch Edit. 3. Touch to the left of the track. The track disappears from the queue list. Moving a track within the queue 1. Touch . 2. Touch Edit.

16 Product Guide 3. Touch and hold to the right of the track. 4. Drag the track to a new location in the queue and then let go of the button. Clearing the music queue 1. Touch . 2. Touch Clear. This clears the entire queue in the selected room and the music stops playing. Saving a queue as a Sonos playlist • Click Save while viewing the queue. You can access these playlists anytime by selecting Sonos Playlists from the Music menu. Note: Tracks that reside on your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or your Android device are not included in a Sonos playlist. Changing the play mode 1. Display the Now Playing screen. 2. Touch the Play Mode drop-down in the upper right corner. 3. Touch the Shuffle, Repeat, and/or Crossfade icons to change the play mode. The play mode icons brighten white while activated. Shuffle Changes the order of the tracks in the music queue. Turn shuffle off to return the tracks to their original playback order. Turn shuffle on again and get a different mix. Repeat Repeats the music queue after the last track has finished.

Sonos CONTROL 17 Crossfade Fades out the current track while fading in the next track to create a smooth transition between tracks. Clocks and Alarms Setting date and time 1. From the Music menu, select Settings. 2. Touch Date and Time Settings to select the way in which date and time settings are determined and displayed on the CONTROL. Adding an alarm 1. From the Music menu, touch Alarms -> Alarms. 2. Touch New Alarm. 3. Select the desired settings for this alarm, including the alarm time, the room you would like the alarm to play in, the music source you’d like to play from, the frequency of the alarm, and the volume setting. Note: If the music you’ve selected is not available when the alarm goes off (such as an Internet radio station that has dropped off), your alarm plays the Sonos chime instead. 4. Touch Advanced to select additional alarm preferences: • Duration — select the length of time you want the alarm music to play. • Include Grouped Rooms — if you touch Yes, the alarm plays in the rooms that are linked together when the alarm goes off (not in the rooms that were linked together at the time the alarm was set). • Show Clock on this Controller — select On if you want a clock to display on this controller when the alarm sounds. • Shuffle Music — select On if you want the play mode for the selected alarm music set to shuffle. 5. Touch Save Alarm when you finish choosing the alarm settings. Setting an alarm 1. From the Music menu, touch Alarms -> Alarms. 2. Select the alarm you wish to set, tap Alarm (Off), so it displays Alarm (On). Note: You can also turn on an alarm when adding or editing it. Changing an alarm 1. From the Music menu, tap Alarms -> Alarms. 2. Select the alarm you wish to change. 3. Change the alarm settings, and then touch Save Alarm.

18 Product Guide Deleting an alarm 1. From the Music menu, touch Alarms -> Alarms. 2. Select the alarm you wish to delete, and touch Delete Alarm. Setting a sleep timer 1. From the Music menu, touch Alarms -> Sleep Timer. 2. Select a sleep timer duration. Turning off the alarm When the alarm goes off, touch Stop Alarm from the Now Playing screen to turn off the alarm. Showing the clock screen Once an alarm has been added to your Sonos system, you can set a preference to have the clock screen show automatically on a Sonos CONTROL when the alarm sounds. 1. From the Music menu, select Alarms. 2. Touch Alarms, and then select the alarm from the list. 3. Select Advanced -> Show Clock on this Controller. (If you want the clock to show on another Sonos CONTROL, repeat this process on the other controller.) Turning Off the Music System Your Sonos system is designed to be always on; the system uses minimal electricity whenever it is not playing music. • To quickly stop streaming audio in all rooms, touch Pause All from the Rooms screen. • To quickly stop streaming audio in a room or room group, press the Play/Pause button on a Sonos player (may appear as a Mute icon on some players).
