We have over two dozen TFT LCD display modules to choose from. All of them are full-color graphic displays. Unlike standard monochrome character displays, you can create complex images for imaginative user experiences. Thin and light, these are ideal for handheld devices, communications equipment, information displays, and test and measurement equipment.

Listed by the diagonal size of the active area (the usable area for lit pixels), our TFT display sizes range from 1.3 inches to 10.1 inches. Choose from six different interfaces, many of our TFT modules have more than one interface available. Arduino users should select modules with SPI for fast and easy communications to add color graphics to their projects.

Contrast ratio is the difference between a pixel that is lit or dark. Standard STN LCD displays typically have a 10:1 contrast ratio while TFT displays are 300:1 and up, so details stand out and text looks extra sharp. For standard STN displays, you must choose a display limited to a specific viewing angle (12, 3, 6 or 9 o"clock) while TFTs can have a viewing cone greater than 160 degrees.

To speed up your design time, we sell carrier boards and demonstration kits for selected modules. For outdoor use, be sure to look at our sunlight readable displays.

Do you need a display that draws the lowest current possible? Want long lasting battery-powered LCD project? Well, you have come to the right place. We compiled this list of digital displays that consume the least amount of power. These displays are perfect for when you are trying to extend the battery life of your product by pulling the least amount of current possible.

Other than a pen and paper, ePaper provides the lowest power consumption available for electronic displays. It does this via an electrochemical process that requires zero power once the pixels are in their desired location. These displays are ideal for when the content is not updated very often. Low-power ePapers only use power during updates, so the longer time between updates, the lower the power consumed.

The beauty of OLED displays and power consumption is that OLEDs only draw current for pixels that are on. For instance, when displaying a black and white checkerboard pattern, an OLED display consumes 50% less current than when displaying a completely white screen. Keeping that in mind, user interfaces can be designed to conserve as much power as possible by limiting how many pixels are lit.

The DT022BTFT uses the same connections as the DT022CTFT, with the exception of the backlight (which has connections shown in the Displaytech datasheet).

The provided display driver example code is designed to work with Microchip, however it is generic enough to work with other micro-controllers. The code includes display reset sequence, initialization and example PutPixel() function. Keep the default values for all registers in the ILI9341, unless changed by the example code provided.

Note that the WR pin becomes the D/CX signal in serial mode. CS is used to initiate a data transfer by pulling it low. At the end of the data transfer, pull the CS pin high to complete the transaction. The timing diagram indicates that you can pull the CS pin high in between the command byte and data bytes within a transfer, but it is unlikely needed if the display is the only device on the SPI bus. To keep things simple, we suggest to leave it low during the entire transaction.

An LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is a standard display device for hand-held embedded systems. Today, color TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) LCDs are common even in cost-effective equipments. An LCD display system is composed of an LCD panel, a frame buffer memory, an LCD and frame buffer controller, and a backlight inverter and lamp. All of them are heavy power consumers, and their portion becomes much more dominant when running interactive applications. This is because interactive applications are often triggered by human inputs and thus result in a lot of slack time in the CPU and memory system, which can be effectively used for dynamic power management. In this paper, we introduce low-power LCD display schemes as a system-level approach. We accurately characterize the energy consumption at the component level and minimize energy consumption of each component without appreciable display quality degradation. We develop several techniques such as variable-duty-ratio refresh, dynamic-color-depth control and backlight luminance dimming with brightness compensation or contrast enhancement.

Blanview is OrtusTech’s unique TFT-LCD technology enabling the display to create high contrast and crisp images even in bright circumstances where sunlight hits the display surface directly. Built with high-quality amorphous silicon (a-Si) technology know as HAST (Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT), which developed through a culmination of 40 years of display expertise. Ortustech has succeeded in generating new type TFT-LCD with a good balance between Sunlight Readability and Low Power Consumption.

Transmissiveis the most common LCD technology that is widely used in many electrical devices. Even though Transmissive can provide clear images in indoor and dark situations, its display readability gets worse in bright outdoor situations. Increasing backlight power can improve the display visibility somewhat, but it boosts total power consumption. This may be a critical impact to battery life in handheld devices.

While Transflectiveis suitable LCD technology for outdoor applications. Transflective has pixels divided into 2 areas, Transmission and Reflection area. The reflection area (reflective electrode) takes a role to reflect incident light from outside. This can give a clear display readability as well as low power consumption. However, the panel transmittance (backlight efficiency) becomes rather lower due to a 2-divided pixel structure. As a result, Transflective inherently has a drawback of large power consumption in indoor or dark conditions. Furthermore, complex pixel structure can cause problems when color levels change from indoors and outdoors. Generally, white color tends to gain yellowish tint outdoors.

This unique technology enables Ortustech to take a “hybrid use” of backlight and incident light from outside. Blanview succeeds in not only ensuring superior display readability in any situation, but also decreasing total power consumption.

Blanview TFT-LCDs are a great choice for electronic equipment, facilities and devices which may be used sometimes outdoors and sometimes indoors. The Low-Power-Consumption advantage will extend a battery life of handheld devices.

Blanview family offers a wide variety of standard off-the-shelf products in varying display sizes, resolutions, interfaces, characteristics and additional functions. Plus Macnica offers a variety of services to enhance our LCD displays, including OPTICAL BONDING, TOUCH SCREEN and COVER GLASS OPTIONS, and CUSTOMIZED WAREHOUSING AND LOGISTICS.

The Macnica ODAC Evaluation Kit is a complete kit for evaluation of Ortustech’s “Blanview Technology” TFT-LCDs. The goal of this kit is to provide an easy and portable environment for demo and evaluation of the LCD lineups offered by Ortustech.

IPS (In-Plane Switching) lcd is still a type of TFT LCD, IPS TFT is also called SFT LCD (supper fine tft ),different to regular tft in TN (Twisted Nematic) mode, theIPS LCD liquid crystal elements inside the tft lcd cell, they are arrayed in plane inside the lcd cell when power off, so the light can not transmit it via theIPS lcdwhen power off, When power on, the liquid crystal elements inside the IPS tft would switch in a small angle, then the light would go through the IPS lcd display, then the display on since light go through the IPS display, the switching angle is related to the input power, the switch angle is related to the input power value of IPS LCD, the more switch angle, the more light would transmit the IPS LCD, we call it negative display mode.

The regular tft lcd, it is a-si TN (Twisted Nematic) tft lcd, its liquid crystal elements are arrayed in vertical type, the light could transmit the regularTFT LCDwhen power off. When power on, the liquid crystal twist in some angle, then it block the light transmit the tft lcd, then make the display elements display on by this way, the liquid crystal twist angle is also related to the input power, the more twist angle, the more light would be blocked by the tft lcd, it is tft lcd working mode.

A TFT lcd display is vivid and colorful than a common monochrome lcd display. TFT refreshes more quickly response than a monochrome LCD display and shows motion more smoothly. TFT displays use more electricity in driving than monochrome LCD screens, so they not only cost more in the first place, but they are also more expensive to drive tft lcd screen. The two most common types of TFT LCDs are IPS and TN displays.
