(Mahwah, NJ) February 14, 2017 –Jaguar has announced a range of enhancements to the Jaguar F-PACE performance SUV, XF and XE sports sedans for the 2018 model year. Included in the updates are a host of new convenience features, trim packages and powertrain enhancements across all three models that deliver more choice and personalization than ever before.

Building on the successful introduction of the Ingenium family of engines with the 180HP Ingenium 2.0-liter diesel in the 2017 XE, XF and F-PACE, a new 247HP Ingenium 2.0-liter turbocharged gas four-cylinder engine will be available as the entry powertrain for each of those 2018 models. This marks the first time a gas four-cylinder will be available for the F-PACE and the latest generation XF. With the introduction of the Ingenium gas four-cylinder, the entry price point for the XF drops to $47,775(2).

Designed, engineered and built wholly in-house by Jaguar Land Rover, the 247HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium gas engine, denoted with 25t badging, uses the company’s low friction all-aluminum-intensive design which provides excellent thermal properties and lightweight construction, improving efficiency and enhancing vehicle dynamics over traditional steel designs.

Jaguar Land Rover’s family of Ingenium engines have the technologies that deliver exceptional performance, efficiency and refinement while meeting the most stringent global emissions regulations.

In a first for Jaguar, the exhaust manifold on the new 2.0-liter gas Ingenium four-cylinder is also integrated with the cylinder head casting. Passing coolant through the manifold considerably reduces warm-up times, when engines are at their least efficient, improving fuel consumption and reducing emissions(3).

Extending customer choice is a hallmark of the 2018 model year enhancements for all three vehicles alongside comfort and convenience enhancements. The 20-way adjustable front seats in the F-PACE Portfolio and XF Portfolio limited edition are available with powered height headrest adjustment with manual side wing supports.

A revised paint palette for all three vehicles aligns the color names with those offered throughout the Jaguar Land Rover family, simplifying the customer ordering experience.

Jaguar takes pride in the driver assistance technologies available in its vehicles and F-PACE, XF and XE feature a pair of new technologies available for the 2018 model year(1).

On XE and XF models, available Blind Spot Assist (BSA) enhances the Jaguar Land Rover Blind Spot Monitor system by using the collision warning system in tandem with the Electric Power Steering System. BSA is designed to detect a vehicle in or approaching the blind spot when changing lanes and to apply a gentle steering force to keep the vehicle in its lane(1).

Jaguar XE, XF and F-PACE owners in the U.K. can now use the touchscreen of their car to pay for fuel at Shell service stations with a new in-car cashless payment system developed in conjunction with Shell and Jaguar Land Rover.

Once the driver has filled up, an electronic receipt will be displayed on the touchscreen, so customers can leave the pump confident of having paid. A receipt will also be sent directly from the pump to the driver’s email address so it can be added to accounting or expenses software.

First launched in September of 2015, every new Jaguar comes standard with Jaguar EliteCare, a Best-in-Class ownership package that includes a 5 years or 60,000 miles new vehicle limited warranty, complimentary scheduled maintenance, as well as a suite of connectivity services and roadside assistance(6).

The focus of the 2018 model year enhancements is on broadening Jaguar Land Rover’s range of models with a powertrain to suite every need. The advanced 180HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel Ingenium engine and pair of supercharged 3.0-liter gas V-6s are now joined by a second Ingenium powertrain a 247HP 2.0-liter gas four-cylinder engine.

In the U.S., the new 247HP 2.0-liter gas four-cylinder Ingenium engine in the Jaguar F-PACE comes standard with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The new gas Ingenium engine has a single twin-scroll turbo that produces 269 ft.-lb. of torque from only 1,200rpm. The smooth and responsive gas engine powers the F-PACE from 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds(4).

In common with the XF and XE sports sedans, the 2018 model year F-PACE features the very latest driver assistance technologies with the addition of available Forward Traffic Detection and Forward Vehicle Guidance.

The 2018 Model Year XF sports sedan now includes three powerplants for the first time ever. Like the F-PACE, the advanced 180HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel Ingenium engine and pair of supercharged 3.0-liter gas V-6s are now joined by a second Ingenium powertrain, the entry 247HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine. In the XF, the potent 247HP unit is fitted with an automatic transmission and is available in both RWD and AWD configurations.

Adaptive Dynamics with Configurable Dynamics(1) is available on vehicles fitted with Adaptive Suspension and the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system(5). Building on the customizability of Jaguar Configurable Dynamics, Adaptive Dynamics allows drivers to also adjust the ride comfort and handling responses to suit the driving conditions or personal preference.

In addition, when Touch Pro infotainment is specified customers benefit from Dynamic-i, which adds a stopwatch, g-meter readout and accelerator and braking graphics to the central touchscreen display(5), allowing the driver and front passenger to monitor every aspect of the vehicle’s performance.

With its generous 19.1 cu. ft. of trunk space, XF is already a practical sports sedan. Now, the addition of the new Gesture Tailgate function for 2018 model year makes loading and unloading even more convenient.

Like the F-PACE, the XF receives a new limited edition Portfolio derivative that is equipped with the 340hp V-6 engine. The limited volume model stands as the most elegant and sophisticated version of the XF to date. Comfort gets a boost in the shape of enhanced driver and front passenger seats with 20-way luxury which incorporates power headrests with side wing supports seating finished in a Sienna Tan Windsor leather, with the instrument panel finished in the same material. Available only in Yulong White, with a tan interior the XF Portfolio limited edition offers a high level of technology as standard. The all-new, aluminium-rich and more technologically advanced 2016 Jaguar XF will make its Australian debut in early February, the British carmaker has confirmed.

Kicking off from $82,800 plus on-road costs for the base-level Prestige 20d diesel model, the cost of entry into the new XF range is markedly higher than the eight year-old car it replaces, which currently kicks off at $74,285 - before any ‘end of life’ bargaining sharpens it further.

Speaking with media today, Jaguar Australia managing director Matthew Wiesner noted that while the previous model “had a couple of jobs”, the new XF will play “in its correct position”.

“Given that we’ve got XE in the marketplace doing its job below it in the medium segment, XF can perform its rightful role, sitting on top of XE,” Wiesner said.

As with the smaller XE, the new British-built XF is built on a new aluminium-intensive architecture, joined by new comfort and safety technologies, and a new ‘Ingenium’ 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Jaguar promises a lighter and more efficient design with the new XF. It is also more spacious, with 15mm more legroom, 24mm knee room and 27mm more headroom than before.

The 2016 XF’s new platform also means there’s weight savings in the neighbourhood of 190kg, matched to an increase in torsional stiffness of up to 28 percent.

An 8.0-inch display and InControl Touch package will be standard across the range, with a 10.2-inch touch display with InControl Touch Pro available as an option.

There’s also a reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster display behind the steering wheel, with four visual models and full-screen navigation display.

The automotive world didn"t know it at the time, but Jaguar"s XF kicked off an ambitious revolution for the British brand upon its 2007 debut. Not only was the radically new sedan the first Leaping Cat wholly conceived under designer Ian Callum"s leadership, its execution served notice that the marque was no longer content to trade on past glories.

So it"s with a sense of occasion and trepidation that I approached this second-generation model. "Trepidation," because I was present at the launch of the outgoing XF, and that car provided one of the most memorable drives of my life. Would this new generation live up to the original that cradled me so speedily and confidently along Monaco and Nice"s coast all those years ago? My drive of the 2016 XF would take place along different winding European roads, this time in the Basque region of northern Spain, including time on Circuito de Navarra, a challenging FIA-approved race track.

Let"s get this out of the way right now: Despite similar outward appearances, there is next to nothing that carries over from the departing model. The second-generation XF sits atop a new aluminum-intensive architecture with its own dimensions, including a longer wheelbase (+51mm), shorter overall length (-7mm), and a lower overall height (-3mm). Yet to the naked eye, this new XF reads very much like the old one. That"s good news in my book, because the first-generation car was always attractive -- particularly after its midcycle facelift addressed those unnecessarily bulgy light fixtures.

The 2016 XF looks even more aggressive, thanks to its proudly upright grille and available LED lighting, whose detailed innards give the appearance of vestigial twin-element headlamps. This is a decisively styled car, particularly in S spec, where massive outboard air intakes and a blacked-out center inlet serve to underscore the four-door"s performance potential. The tail is also clean work, with horizontal, double-dip tail lamps echoing those of the

This XF is a tech-rich proposition right down to its lightweight bones. The new chassis is 75 percent aluminum, and despite being longer overall, it"s 28 percent stiffer and 11 percent lighter than its predecessor. It"s also more aerodynamic, with a coefficient of drag of just .26 on some models, all of which helps it improve fuel efficiency by around 9 percent. Jaguar says rear-drive 2016s are 132 pounds lighter than comparably equipped 2015 models, and the all-wheel drive model has shaved a whopping 265 pounds versus the outgoing car.

Launching in North America this fall, the XF will come with a standard eight-speed ZF automatic and the buyer"s choice of two supercharged engines -- essentially the same 3.0-liter V-6 engines in different states of tune, delivering either 340 horsepower or 380 hp, both with 332 pound-feet of torque. For the latter, 0 to 60 mph comes up in a quick 5.1 seconds en route to a limited top speed of 155 mph. While complete fuel-economy ratings haven"t been released yet, Jaguar promises 30 miles per gallon will be possible.

If there was a particular area where the old model showed its age, it"s inside, where the XF had fallen well behind rivals in terms of infotainment options. That"s been comprehensively -- but not quite completely -- addressed. The touchscreen-based InControl Touch system on the old XF wasn"t terribly good when it debuted back in 2007, and despite several updates, it still isn"t a top-notch base unit in this new car. It"s much quicker than the original, laggy, bug-prone system and features improved graphics and response times, but if you"re expecting a cutting-edge setup, this 8-inch screen is likely to remain a portal to disappointment.

Fortunately, help is on the way in the form of InControl Touch Pro, an all-new, from-scratch architecture that leverages a crisp and responsive 10.2-inch touchscreen with tablet-like pinch and swipe controls. Powered by a quad-core Intel chip set and backed up by a 60-gig solid-state drive, ITP integrates everything from navigation and audio controls to advanced vehicle settings, functioning in concert with a 12.3-inch TFT virtual instrument cluster and optional full-color laser head-up display.

InControl Touch Pro will be a $3,100 option as part of a tech package that also includes an 825-watt Meridian audio system and the aforementioned TFT virtual instrument cluster. Unfortunately, it won"t be available at launch -- you"ll have to wait until the middle of the 2016 model year to get it. The new setup also won"t come with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which is a disappointing omission in an all-new architecture. However, Jaguar officials insist they won"t have to reengineer the whole works to accommodate these technologies, so it probably won"t be more than a year or so before these features become available. For the moment, I"ll need more time in order to assess just how good ITP is, but it makes a very positive first impression and I can"t imagine not waiting for its availability.

While the jury is still out on the XF"s infotainment, my first drive points to a chassis that acquits itself brilliantly both over road and track. Like its XE kid brother, the XF will have a genuine shot at being the most engaging and best-handling car in its class, with quick turn-in and a surprising amount of feel furnished by its electric power steering system and nicely damped handling from its F-Type-derived front double-wishbone and rear integral-link suspension. Braking is excellent, too, with good pedal feel and strong initial bite.

Speaking of rear-wheel drive, my gloriously circuitous, hours-long drive from Navarra back through the Basque"s ancient farmlands and along mountain passes took place in a rear-drive S. Simply put, the XF fairly radiated that it"s a confidence-inspiring sport sedan on both road and track. The paddle shifters are responsive (but largely unnecessary, as the transmission"s brain is smarter than the driver), and the XF even rides well on 255/35 R20 Continental ContisportContact 5P watchstrap rubber, at least when fitted with the S" adaptive damping setup.

For 2016, Jaguar is also bundling options into packages to simplify build combinations and dealer stock while lowering costs, a move that has helped it drop MSRPs lineup-wide while increasing standard equipment. That doesn"t mean there won"t be options, of course. Additional-cost features will include lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and semi-automated parking.

Jaguar executives admit they are painfully aware of their quality and value perception gaps, and as part of launching its 2016 lineup, the automaker is massively beefing up its warranty and free maintenance programs. Dubbed EliteCare, the new warranty will cover five years or 60,000 miles, as well as the same amount of scheduled maintenance (a year longer and 10,000 miles more than BMW and Mercedes). Better still, it"s transferable to a second owner.

As Joe Eberhardt, the company"s North America CEO and president, is fond of saying, Jaguar "wants to give you a rational permission slip to buy a car you love."

It’s the first retailer to show off JLR’s new ‘global Arch’ design – and the word ‘retailer’ is a key one, as this is like no old-fashioned dealership. I was met on the forecourt and directed inside where everyone knew my name, and then I was shown upstairs to a smart coffee bar. On one side, there were around 25 Jaguars, and on the other, 20-odd Land Rovers, arranged like clothes rails in a Knightsbridge department store. The site cost £12m, has ‘Drive In’ service bays (where you drive your car in and a like-for-like courtesy vehicle is waiting for you) and a roof with space for over 100 cars. It’s like no other dealership I’ve ever been to.

It’s here where handover coordinator Anthony Cross reveals the new Auto Express Jag. In contrast to the racy R-Sport XE, the XF is more ‘traditional’. It’s in range-topping Portfolio spec, complete with lashings of chrome and leather seats.

As I was talked round the car and the keys were handed over, I had a sense that running this Jaguar is not going to be a ‘normal’ experience. It’s going to be a special one.
