This TV was a spontaneous purchase for me and my girlfriend. We decided to go HD and what better place to do so than our friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart Supercenter.
We eventually purchased the Polaroid TDA-03211C on September 9, 2007 as a seemingly good value buy and at least in name an American company, so much for economic patriotism. Out of the box the TV worked, looked, sounded, and once again, seemed great. It went kaput on October 17, 2007 and after 16 calls, 8 different customer service reps, 3 repair techs, and three wrong parts, I am officially going to warn every person that I can of this TV and the Polaroid Corporation.
To state that I feel cheated, lied to, and downright robbed is an understatement. There is a known problem with what they call the control-box, which is the key component of the television. Customer service sent us a new one initially without even taking a look at the TV. I inferred that there is probably a known design flaw with this part if Polaroid automatically sends new ones without actually first trouble shooting. If the part is in backlog, which it was for me, it will take about 1 month for the part to arrive from China. You will have to wait for the "independent tech" to contact you to schedule an appointment for repair. Polaroid outsources the repair of their product.
Polaroid does not want to give you a new TV nor does it want to refund your money. WARNING!!! Polaroid does not want to give you a new TV nor does it want to refund your money. It is their tactic to lie, give the customer the run around, and avoid resolution. Not a timely resolution, essentially no resolution whatsoever. I am now approaching the half-way point of the Polaroid 1 year warranty. This TV worked for 5 weeks and has become a 4 month headache. Do not purchase any Polaroid product. I personally believe that the restructuring after their bankruptcy has corrupted their capacity to manufacture quality products. Avoid this brand.

I bought my 32" Polaroid from Wal-Mart after Thanksgiving almost 4 years ago. It was barely out of warranty. I heard it sizzling one night. Then, I saw smoke coming out of the top. The screen went black and there was no sound. It sounds just like everyone else on here had the exact same problem. I called Polaroid. They said they were 99.9% sure of the problem and I could purchase the part with 75% of my money refunded if it didn"t fix it. Well, guess what? It didn"t fix it! I so wish I would have read these complaints before purchasing the part. I will never again buy another TV from Wal-Mart. And I will never again buy a Polaroid. Shame on them!
Bought a flat screen Polaroid LCD TV on Black Friday 2007 from Wal Mart and it has been going black (sound on but picture off) intermittently, no rhyme or reason? of heating up? Seen various forums with same complaints. Sent communication to Polaroid Co.
I got our 32" Polaroid LCD TV at the 2007 After Thanksgiving sale. From the time we set it up, it didn"t have the same great picture as all the TVs in the store but I was just happy to have the TV so I didn"t think much. Two days ago, however, I did think a lot! I was watching it and had gone into the kitchen. When I returned, I had no picture, just sound. I turned it off and back on to no avail. I tried leaving it off for many hours and nothing changed. It"s shut. So now, I had to purchase a new one right before the Black Friday Sales. I guess I should be glad that mine didn"t start a fire--which I found out that many people have after researching it now. But I"m still totally disgusted that Polaroid kept selling, instead of recalling these after they knew about all the trouble with these. Please add my name to the lawsuit.
I received the model#TLX03210B about 3 or 4 years ago. I was watching tv the other day and all of a sudden, smoke started coming out, no picture or now no sound. It was also bought on Black Friday, for Christmas. These people need to be given a dose of there own medicine. They have to answer to God one day.
We had bought a Polaroid 42" TV on black Friday and when turned on, works for about 15 minutes and then the picture goes black. After reading all the complaints just like mine, this is the worse product I have ever bought. Polaroid should have to stand behind their product.
Over the last two years, if the TV was on longer than a few hours, the screen would go black (with sound) and would need to be turned off for a few hours. I contacted Polaroid and after waiting forever, I was told that it was out of any warranty. Now as of October 28th 2011, the picture is out for good! $400.00 is a lot of money for some of us to dish out for a TV purchased as a family/household gift for Christmas.
I thought Polaroid was a good brand name, being around so long and all. Now after reading about fire hazards, I won"t be getting it repaired! If I had bought a brand new car and it completely quit after three and a half years of normal use, I"m pretty sure there would be laws to protect me from being ripped off. In these tough times, how am I supposed to pull together hundreds of more dollars for a new TV? On the other hand, how do I tell my two young children that we not only have no TV, but can"t watch a DVD either.
I purchased the 15" Polaroid TV for my kitchen. Within a year, the remote stopped working and now I "m stuck with 1 channel. After reading the comments about the Polaroid company helping out, I won"t waste my time trying to contact them and will try to figure something out myself like getting a universal remote perhaps.
The picture went blank while the sound and channel changing are working. Red light in the back is blinking. It"s a 32 " Polaroid TV/DVD combo. I thought Polaroid would be a great TV being around as long as it has been. Now I don"t know if it is worth it to get it fixed. The manufacture date is Aug 2008, should have lasted longer than that, don"t you think? ?
I bought a 42" Polaroid flatscreen on Black Friday of 2008 at Walmart. Within 2 weeks, it required a repair for a lack of sound. Now this past Sunday, 10/23/2011, the TV turned itself off and hasn"t worked since. I tried all the troubleshooting tips and nothing. I"m so mad that I paid $799 for a TV that I"ve had for less than 5 years.
I purchased a 42" Polaroid TV from Walmart and the set started making a high-pitched sound when turned on. It would go through different pitches then fade. Then, a week later, when I turned on the TV, it had volume but no picture. The screen was just black. What a bad product. Shame on Polaroid. Shame on Walmart! No TV! No faith in Polaroid! No faith in purchasing TVs from Walmart!
As we were sitting here watching TV, our Polaroid model TDX-02610B flat screen TV just popped, smoke started coming out and it started on fire. We immediately pulled it out of the entertainment center and extinguished the flames. Thankfully, the kids were not here alone. I have tried to contact Polaroid, but have been unsuccessful. I can"t get through on the phone and their customer support email will not go through. I, like so many others, bought this at Wal-Mart about 1 1/2 years ago.
I have a Polaroid flat screen TV; manufacture date is 2007 and model # is TDA-03211C. The picture went black on it yesterday. Today, I"m looking online and there is a severe fire hazard associated with these models. The UL is fake and the TV doesn"t meet the safety standards. Come on Polaroid, wake up and do a recall. Stand behind your products. Sony recalled 1.6 million of their TVs for the same reason.
I purchased 22" TV from Wal-mart in December 2008. We have never been able to get some channels, the TV stop in the middle of the picture and then no signal come up. I have brought 2 antennas and called Polaroid, I was told it was the signal; no antenna has work I shopping for a better antenna until I see Polaroid sell bad TV. I really feel bad it was a Birthday gift for my mother and she hates it. I wish I could give it back.
I have two Polaroid televisions that have been purchased at Wal-Mart within the last 4 years. One of them has an indicator light that turns on and nothing else. The second started to smoke. And the plug that goes into the back of the television melted, causing one of the parts that comes out of the TV to go into the plug melted.
About a month or two after we purchased the TV, it had about 4-5 inches on the left side of the picture which started to fade. A few months ago, the picture went black and there was no sound. We turned the TV off. We tried to turn it on a couple of days later and still no picture. We plugged it and that is how it is right now and I am glad that we did.
I own a 46" HD widescreen LCD television for two years and since the first date that we used it, the room where it was feels too hot and it was because the TV was too hot. Then after almost two years, there"s no picture on the TV, only sounds. I paid almost seven hundred dollars for that TV, and now, we do not have TV anymore.
I purchased my 32" flat screen Polaroid in April 2007 from hhgregg. It worked perfectly until this morning when it will just not turn on. After reading all these comments, it is now unplugged and I am actually afraid to have it repaired.
I purchased a Polaroid 32" LCD HD TV in December 2007; in about April 2008 the picture went out and I only had sound, so Polaroid sent a part and a tech to repair the TV with no success. So Polaroid had me send them back my TV and they sent me a refurbished 32" TV with a DVD player. The DVD player died less than a year later. Now tonight on 10-19-2011 there was as sizzle then black smoke from the top of the TV, now no picture only sound and a terrible odor of melted plastic. The TV is now unplugged.
We bought a 32" Polaroid (Model: TDA03211C) TV/DVD combo with the two-year extended service plan on 11 Dec 07. After having the TV for a month, the DVD player stopped working. We took it back to Walmart and they replaced it. After having the new TV for three months, the screen went black. A repairman was sent and he fixed the TV. It worked fine until this morning.
We had been watching the TV for about four hours, then the TV went black with only sound playing. Of course, the service plan has expired and when I called the customer service number, it said that "all circuits are busy." I have tried to call several times and received the same message. Now, we are having to watch a 19" Samsung that we have had for years without any problems. We paid $683.00 for the Polaroid to only have it for a little over three years. We are very dissatisfied with Polaroid and I would like to be part of any class action lawsuit.Read full review
I purchased this TV at Wal-Mart in Beaumont, TX right after Hurricane Ike in 2008 (I"m an Ike survivor. I lost everything, including my home in Ike. That was the reason for purchasing new TV). Today is 10-15-2011. At 2 am, I woke up to use the bathroom. I went back to bed. While laying there trying to go back to sleep, Polaroid model TLX-02311B, 22-inch TV caught fire and started smoking. I unplugged unit and my husband removed it from home. He had a bad headache and breathing problems the rest of the night after inhaling smoke. Thank you God that I was awake. Now I"m online researching. I found that there is a class action lawsuit against Polariod. I want to join it.
We received a Polaroid TV model no. TLZ04244B for Christmas in 2008. In the beginning of August 2011, the screen just went black. After reading all of the comments, I am afraid to plug it back in and feel I would be wasting my time contacting Polaroid.
We purchased this Polaroid LCD 32" TV on July 4th, 2006, also from Wal-Mart. When we first got it, we thought we would be able to get HD local stations when the country went digital. We didn"t! We used to get analog stations with the antenna, also satellite with DirecTV. Now, we got nothing digital on antenna. We should get digital without a converter box. Also, during a football game last week, the picture went off and on. We had sound but no picture. This happened about 6 or 7 times. I went into another room to check to see if that was also happening on another TV on the same game, but it wasn"t. So now, since I"ve seen all these similar complaints, with TVs burning up and having no picture, and of course never getting them fixed, I really don"t know which brand to buy anymore.
I purchased a 40" Polaroid in December 2008 from Walmart. It started flashing a rainbow of colors after being on for several hours around February 2011 and then would go black.
Actually, before that, it would just go black with no warning after being on for several hours. Now, if it does come on, the colorful screen appears then nothing. I have a Magnavox TV that is so old it needed a converter--never a problem. Polaroid quits after two years?Read full review
Wow! I just want to say "ditto". I can"t believe there are so many of the same complaints and they are still in business. I bought my 32" flat screen in 2008 on Black Friday at Wal-Mart, like so many others listed here, and then the other day, it comes on and after a few seconds, fades to black with audio. Thank God, we didn"t have the smoke or fire hazard with our grandkids here. Come on Polaroid "Man Up" and do the right thing. You got some "splaining" to do. Please add me to any class action list.
My mom bought this TV back in 2006, on Wed October 5, 2011, the picture went out but there was sound. We tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and heard a pop and then smoke started coming out! My mother is elderly and lives with me, my husband and our 9 month old daughter! Thank god we were home and awake when this happened, it could have burnt down our house. I am terrified by what could have happened had we been asleep. I always thought Polaroid was a good brand but I will never buy another Polaroid product. There is an ongoing Class Action Lawsuit and I want to join.
This is absolutely ridiculous! They have known about this problem and failed to issue a warning, recall or fix the problem. They continued to sell these TVs with knowledge of this.Read full review
I got the same deal as many. A black line went through the middle of my screen, then the picture went totally black. It got sound and nothing else. My TV is approximately 3 years old.
All I can say is I don"t think anyone else should purchase a Polaroid TV of any kind. Like most of you, I have had my TV repaired three times and finally, I just said forget it. Polaroid won"t own up to anything and neither will Walmart. I bought my TV at the Black Friday too. Now, I know why it was called Black Friday! First, you couldn"t turn the TV on or off. Then the video messed up, the picture started showing like a film negative (all shadowy) and then the picture went completely out. I am done with Polaroid. If anyone wants to file a lawsuit, count me in please.

The ideal viewing distance for your Polaroid television depends on the screen size. As a rule of thumb you can assume that approximately 2.4 times the screen diagonal is the ideal viewing distance.
If your television has no signal, you can check the following: - Check whether your television is set to the correct source. - Check if your TV receiver is properly connected via the HDMI or SCART input.

Turn off the TV and disconnect the power from the TV and then check the power board or maybe a separate inverter board (look for 2 or 4 wire cable going into the screen area somewhere) for bulging or domed capacitors.
Be safety aware. Always disconnect the power from the TV when working in the back as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the power board when the power is connected to the TV, even if the TV is not turned on.
