Option 3:You can also repair your broken iPhone first and sell it for more. The easiest way to do this is to get a quote for the repaired versus the unrepaired value of your iPhone, calculate the repair cost, and see whether it’s worth your time and money.
You’ve dropped your iPhone and the screen is cracked. Or it’s smashed into a spider’s web of sadness. Once you’ve stopped berating yourself for dropping it, because shame isn’t going to fix the screen, you’ll need to hand it over to someone who can replace it for you. It’s okay, you think, the warranty will cover it. Think again.
The screen and LCD display are fused together, so it’s highly unlikely you can have the glass replaced without also replacing the LCD display as well. Below are costs from around the country for screen glass repairs and LCD replacement.
Apple’s service is wonderful if you have a store near you and can book your appointment ahead of time, but it won’t cover dropping your phone. According to Apple, their “Limited Warranty for iPhone covers your iPhone for one year. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase ("date of purchase").
“To determine your warranty coverage, enter the serial number of your iPhone in the Online Service Assistant section on the Apple Support site. Apple may need to examine your proof of purchase document to verify your iPhone"s warranty status.” — Apple Support
Even if you believe your circumstances qualify you to use the warranty, if you bought your iPhone from anyone other than an authorized iPhone reseller or didn’t register your phone when you bought it, you may not be able to use the warranty on it, because Apple has no official record of the purchase date with your name in it.
The Apple support page says you might still be able to have Apple fix it through their Out-Of-Warranty (OOW) service—for things like screen burn or “an iPhone that has failed due to damage or liquid damage. ... See Apple"s Repair Terms and Conditions for further details. Refer to this article to check if the Liquid Contact indicator on your product has been triggered.” To find where to bring your phone for OOW service options, call your local carrier and they can direct you to iPhone repair shops near you.
For Apple to repair your iPhone thats out of warranty, prices start at $129 for older phones, and go up to $329 for the brand new models. Before Apple repairs your screen, you’ll need to carry out their pre-service instructions so you can protect your information. It involves things like having your ID and proof of purchase ready and, if you’re mailing it in, erasing your device. Read more about that here.
Some shops will give you a same-day repair service while others will take a day or two. Obviously, it depends on how much work your iPhone needs to be fully functional again.
There is also the option of repairing your screen yourself with kit repair prices ranging from $40 to $80. Considering the high price of an iPhone, we don’t recommend this if you have little experience installing phone screens. We’re not mentioning names, but one of our own at HomeGuide tried this and the phone exploded in his hands. He ran, kicking the flaming phone across the carpet and out the front door in time to prevent the whole place going up in smoke. Lithium batteries are not to be trifled with. The memory will remain with us until the carpet is replaced....
In summary, if your iPhone is in warranty and the screen needs to be repaired because of an internal problem, have Apple fix it. If it’s not in warranty, we recommend having a mobile iPhone repair technician meet you to do the work, as most of the repair options seem to cost about the same regardless of where you bring it, and the convenience of having them come to you is amazing.
Another repair option is having a third-party service provide fix your cracked iPhone. Third-party vendors, such as Staymobile in Columbia, South Carolina, may charge less and usually have a faster turnaround time. iPhixShop LLC iPhone & iPad Repair, Accessories says most repairs take less than 30 minutes. As often as you use your smartphone, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll eventually drop it. You may be extremely careful, but it only takes one fumble for your phone to tumble. While iPhone screens are designed to withstand impact, you might still end up with a shattered screen.
The good news: a broken screen doesn’t mean your phone is kaput. In fact, if only the glass is broken, the fix is quick and inexpensive. The bad news: if the LCD screen is broken, you’re looking at a pricier repair.
If you’ve looked into replacement parts, you’ve likely come across two very different options: a glass screen, and an LCD screen. While the first option is cheap, the second is definitely not. Here’s the difference:
Most of the time, the damage to your screen will be pretty obvious. You’ll see the spider web patterns of shattered glass across the front of your iPhone. Occasionally, however, the glass screen will be intact, and you might not realize the damage until you try to use it. Whether the damage is visible or not, it’s a good idea to run a quick diagnostic to determine the extent of it.
If you encounter any of these problems, you’re dealing with a broken LCD screen. If the glass is shattered, but the display is clear and touch capability is working, that’s a good sign. The problem is probably just the glass screen.
Whether you’re dealing with cracked glass or a broken LCD screen, you can find a quick, reliable repair service at FastPhoneRepair.com. Our qualified technicians will get your iPhone repaired and up and running again in record time and at reasonable rates.
Have a broken iPhone screen? Here are three iPhone screen repair options and how much each costs, plus a breakdown of whether you should fix it or sell it.
NOTE: If your iPhone is still under warranty, check with Apple to see if you can get your screen fixed for free. Here’s Apple’s warranty coverage checker.
You can replace your own iPhone screen with a little tech savvy and a bit of patience. The repair requires disassembly, however, so you shouldn’t attempt this fix if you’re not comfortable doing that.
Your best bet is to buy a complete screen assembly, which is a much easier repair than replacing just the front glass or digitizer. Expect to pay between $45 and $280 for a new iPhone screen, depending on your model, where you buy parts and whether you buy a standard LCD or premium OLED screen. Toolkits start at $5 if you don’t already have the necessary tools.
WARNING: This can be a difficult repair, especially if you aren’t experienced. Understand the risk of additional damage that could void any warranties and insurance policies.Rather buy a new iPhone? Save with these iPhone deals
You can find detailed step-by-step instructions on sites like iFixit and YouTube. Here are some example videos for the iPhone 12, iPhone 11 and iPhone X.
Don’t want to fix your own iPhone screen? You can opt for professional repair instead. Local repair shops can often replace your screen in a few hours, either in-store or at your location. Online mail-in repair services take longer, but they’re good options if you don’t have a local repair store.
Expect to pay between $119 and $520 for professional iPhone screen replacement, depending on your model and repair shop. Note that Apple’s own repair service tops out at $329 for out-of-warranty screen repair. Apple also uses OEM (original equipment manufacturer parts), while many repair shops use less expensive aftermarket parts.
It’s a good idea to ask about warranties on parts and labor before you choose a repair company. You should also inquire about your service tech’s experience, credentials and quality of parts.Interested in a refurbished iPhone 12? See where to get it for less
Do you have iPhone insurance? If so, you can file a claim directly with your insurance company, who might offer a choice between mail-in, in-store or on-location repair services. Some companies will overnight a refurbished replacement iPhone rather than repair and return yours.
Expect to pay a deductible ranging between $29 and $149, depending on your model and insurance company. Here are some example iPhone screen repair deductibles.InsureriPhone Screen Replacement Deductible
Should you fix your iPhone screen or sell it broken? You can base your decision on how much your iPhone is worth broken versus repaired, especially if you plan to upgrade soon.
For example, at the time of this writing, an iPhone X 64GB on the Verizon network was worth $255 in good condition. Here’s a breakdown of its net value after different repair options.
Next, compare the net value after repair to what your iPhone is worth in broken condition. At the time of this writing, a broken iPhone X 64GB on the Verizon network was worth $110.
As the table shows, our example iPhone will have significantly more value if you repair it yourself or file an insurance claim through AppleCare+ or Verizon.
Of course, your decision depends not only on the value, but also how long you plan to keep your iPhone. If you intend to hold on to it for a few years, it’s cheaper to repair it than to buy a new iPhone.

Hello everyone! The purpose of this post is to debunk ALL of the frequently asked questions for iPhone screen repair – when you end up with A CRACKED IPHONE LCD or screen!
Of course, your friendly neighborhood handyman at Mister Mobile can replace your iPhone cracked screen in a jiffy, but that’s beyond the scope of this article. You may check out our services andprices for iPhone screen replacement here.
It all boils down to the impact on your phone when you drop it, and, frankly, your luck. When you find yourself with a cracked iPhone screen, there are 2 possibilities:
There are cracks on the exterior layer of your iPhone screen. You only need to replace the glass (also commonly referred to as the “screen” or “digitizer”).iPhone glass replacement is possible only if your LCD display is working perfectly, and it is 100% touch-sensitive. The repair cost for iPhone glass replacement is much cheaper compared to replacing a full LCD assembly (we will be talking about this later).
iPhone 6S Plus glass replacement Grade A. As you can see, it is just a piece of glass which does not control/ affect the display and the touch responsiveness of your LCD.
Second, it becomes more costly when you damage the interior of your LCD. It does not matter if the outer layer is cracked or not – once the interior layer is damaged, you have to replace the full iPhone LCD assembly consisting of the LCD display, the touch screen flex, and the glass (commonly referred to as simply “LCD” or “LED” or “OLED”).The common symptoms when your iPhone LCD is damaged:
It is NOT POSSIBLE to replace only the iPhone LCD without replacing the glass due to 2 reasons. We purchase our parts in one set which includes the glass.
Technically,no onein Singapore can claim their parts to be original except authorized Apple service centers such as aLAB or Apple Store. “Brand Copyright Infringement – Unless you’re licensed to sell Apple iPhone parts, you’re not technically allowed to advertise new “Original” parts, even if the item is new and 100% authentic. If you ever see the words “for iPhone 4s, 5, 5s, 5c” etc. at the end of the item title or advertising pitch, now you’ll know why. Apple has actually been fairly quiet about imposing seizures at customs and online marketplaces for those who sell parts without authorization.” – Source – harvestcellular.net
If you come across any repairers in Singapore who advertise their iPhone cracked screen repair parts as “original”, think twice – chances are, they are selling you the exact same parts as we do but at a higher price.
We define ourselves as an alternative solution, who can provide iPhone cracked screen repair which is cheaper, faster and is more accessible than authorized service centers without compromising on quality. Our technicians are highly trained and we are able to handle many issues which they can’t. For example, Apple offers only iPhone LCD replacement, even if you just need to replace the glass (Source: Apple Singapore).
Our Grade B parts are manufactured by suppliers from China. They are targeted for consumers who wish to fix their iPhone cracked screen at the cheapest price.
Notes for Grade B glass replacement: Technically, we will just swap your cracked-glass Grade A LCD to a new, working Grade B LCD. We then sell your cracked-glass Grade A LCD to buyers who refurbish it. We offer this category of repair to customers who are looking for the cheapest repair option available.
This is the typical repair-cycle when you replace your iPhone glass with us. 10 minutes – In-processing and a full test of your phone to ensure all components are working fine.
Other service providers are able to do it in 30 minutes because they do a straight swap of a new Grade A iPhone LCD with your existing cracked-glass LCD,postponing or sub-contracting the tedious and time-consuming process of actual glass replacement to a later date.
Notes: We are able to carry out this 30-minute iPhone LCD-swap process too, but we will only do so at the request of our customers who have time constraints.
Convenient. You can fix an appointment with us at your convenience, walk in, and repair your iPhone in a jiffy. No waiting in line, no disappointment.
This is especially important if you are carrying a newly-launched iPhone within warranty (example: the newly launched iPhone XS and XS Max, at the time of this blog was published).
iFixit has been offering OLED screens for those who would like to tackle repairs on their own. Those go for around $100 less than what Apple charges for an official screen replacement but now, it’s started offering LCD replacement for iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. It’s an interesting downgrade from OLED but some on a budget with DIY interest might find it’s a great option.
Apple’s screen repair costs jumped considerably with the arrival of the iPhone X. At this point, it costs between $279 and $329 to get an OLED on the X, XS, and 11 Pro.
we’re now offering an LCD screen option for the iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. These LCDs (and their Fix Kits) are less than half the price of the OLED models we sell. They’re a little darker (about 50 nits worth), the resolution is a little lower, and the colors and contrast ratio won’t be quite the same.
But you might remember that, until a couple years ago, most phones had LCD displays, including phones you probably loved. Apple notably stuck with LCD displays while Samsung was experimenting with early OLED, and Apple still uses LCDs in its iPhone 8 and XR models.
Indeed, it’s like turning your X or XS into a XR, display-wise anyway. iFixit’s new LCD options run $75 for the X, $85 for the XS, and then jump up to $165 for the XS Max.
iFixit highlights “these LCD replacements are hand-tested in the USA to our rigorous quality standards, and we back them up with a lifetime warranty.”
It doesn’t cost that much to replace only the glass on an iPhone 6, granted your phone"s screen is cracked but the display and touch still work as usual. However, it is a difficult and high-risk repair, and you run the risk of further breaking your screen if you"re not a professional or are unfamiliar to cellphone repair. A brand new and original iPhone 6 Glass Lens replacement is less than $10.
As the touch screen is hermetically attached to the LCD display, the whole LCD assembly should be replaced considering the difficulty and risk, if your iPhone 6"s touchscreen failed to respond after the damage it would be a much safer choice to replace the whole assembly. It costs about $40 to buy a replacement brand new original iPhone 6 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Frame.
The same difficulty and risk go into replacing an LCD as with replacing a touchscreen. We recommend replacing the whole assembly if your iPhone 6"s screen goes black or displays the wrong colors after the damage. A replacement iPhone 6 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Frame will cost you less than $50.
If you want to replace the home button, you will need to buy the iPhone 6 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Frame and Home Button as well. This item is more expensive, about $55. However, with this item, the replacement work is much easier and less risky to perform. Please note that the replacement iPhone 6 home button supports all functions except for unlocking the screen with fingerprint, as the Touch ID sensor is tied to the unique logic board inside each iPhone.
iPhones are precisely made machines, so in the process of figuring out how to fix a cracked iPhone screen yourself, you run the risk of doing even more damage. That"s why you should usually let a professional look at it.
Your standard iPhone warranty doesn"t cover accidental damage to the screen, so if your iPhone screen is cracked, you"ll be paying for the repair one way or another.
Using a screen repair business not officially affiliated with Apple may be cheaper, but can also void your iPhone warranty, so think carefully before handing it over to a repair store.
Recently, I was jogging from my car to a pizza shop to pick up dinner for the family, carrying my keys and iPhone in one hand, while digging through my wallet for cash with the other, not being careful with either.
In the midst of jostling the items about, my venerable iPhone 6 took a dive and hit the edge of the curb screen-first. Cracked doesn"t begin to do the damage justice; the screen was positively shattered, so crisscrossed with cracks that it could hardly turn on.
Since it was an older phone and I was due for an upgrade anyway, the solution was simple: to replace my cracked iPhone screen, I simply bought a new phone.
If your iPhone"s screen is damaged, and the phone is out of warranty and you don"t have AppleCare+ coverage, a new phone may well be the way to go — at least you can apply the value of a trade in to your new phone.
Replacing the screen of an iPhone X without awarranty or AppleCare+ plancosts $279. An iPhone 8 Plus or 7 Plus screen costs $169. And an iPhone 6 screen replacement costs $129 if you don"t have coverage.
If your phone is under warranty, or you paid the $5.99 for AppleCare+ coverage, your iPhone is covered for up to two incidents of accidental damage with only a $29 fee added for screen repair, so by all means use Apple to fix that broken screen.
You can bring a damaged iPhone toan Apple store or a licensed service providerfor a screen replacement, which can often be completed that same day, or you can mail your iPhone to Apple in a shipping box they provide at your request. Expect to be without your phone for one long, grueling week, but if you live in an area without easy access to Apple stores or partnered locations, this is a fine option.
If your iPhone doesn"t have a coverage plan, then you can try bringing it to a cheaper screen repair shop. Just make sure you backup the iPhone to iCloud first, as you never know if the cut-rate operation may end up accidentally damaging your phone. But again, it is no match with the original iPhone screen because the connectors are duplicate.
