First off this toaster is beautiful. There’s no doubt about that. Very beautiful but a piece of junk. I bought my first Revolution Insta-glo 270 and it broke in two months. I was so taken with the looks of the Insta glow, I foolishly bought another one. Lo and behold this one broke in one month! For a price tag of almost $500 I would expect better quality. The second toaster I bought the warranty, so I should be good. BUT we shall see. The second toaster tripped all my breakers and knocked out my power in the Kitchen. Luckily, I have a handy husband. I wasn’t going to write a review but my husband insisted that I do. I don’t know if you have $500 to throw away but I threw it away twice. I will not be buying a third Insta glow toaster, no matter how beautiful! Luckily, I kept my trusty Cuisnart, Just in case. (You could see the photo of my beautiful Cuisinart in the background..) At this point, my concept of beauty has changed and now I will go for something that will work more than one or two months. Lol! beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you have money to throw away, than by all means, do buy this toaster. . If you’re looking for quality however, I would say get a Cuisnart, a Breville .. anything other than this nice looking piece of junk.. There should be a recall on all these toasters.

The pop-up toaster has seen various aesthetic design changes over the years but the underlying heating technology has remained mostly the same. We worked with Revolution Cooking to design, build, test and manufacture a ground-breaking toaster powered by their proprietary heating technology and a 7” touch screen user interface. The Revolution toaster browns toast faster than standard toasters so the bread stays moist on the inside and browns evenly on the outside in less time. Its attractive touch screen and automatic toast lift add unexpected joy to the toasting experience. The toaster is currently for sale to consumers through major retail outlets.

Primaira engineered the technology and algorithms that deliver repeatably fast and evenly cooked toast, and successfully managed the manufacture of those innovative designs overseas. At the heart of the development effort were two main challenges. First, because the toaster was being designed to toast faster than any consumer product on the market, there was a conflict between delivering cooking speed and ensuring the safety of the device. We developed software algorithms and electronic hardware to keep the device in compliance with safety standards while achieving very short toast times.

The second challenge was making an innovative, speed cooking technology manufacturable and toast reliably well. We met this challenge on two fronts: the heater card design and the toasting algorithms. We developed quantitative metrics to specify the heater cards so they could be reliably manufactured overseas within acceptable tolerances. To achieve repeatable and even toasting performance, we invented novel sensor based toasting algorithms tailored to the wide range of bread products intended for the toaster.

Airflow and temperature modeling of the toaster using computation fluid dynamics (CFD) with heat transfer analysis. Modeling helped inform design changes to speed up development.

In addition to developing technology, Primaira worked hand in hand with Revolution’s management team to guide and define engineering, manufacturing and hiring of technical team members. A member of Primaira’s management served as Vice President of Engineering for Revolution to manage much of the technical product development process.

The Revolution toaster program required engineering creativity (mechanical, electrical and software), manufacturing knowhow and thoughtful communication between all of the program’s stakeholders including marketing, manufacturing, management and engineering. We helped make Revolution’s first product a reality, from design through production.

2) there was a weak spot or nick made in the wire when the toaster was manufactured (we"ve seen the break at or near a bend in the wire or a rivet point)

To Fix: You have to disassemble the toaster sufficiently to locate the break and then get good access to it. If you"re lucky and there"s enough extra wire, you might simply be able to twist the two broken ends together enough to re-establish contact (you can then at least confirm that"s the problem.)

Constant use can lead to crumbs clogging the path of the lever. Try opening up the bottom panel, by pulling on the metal tab to release the plate (and crumbs!) over a trash can. Also try flipping the toaster upside down and, very gently, shaking the crumbs out.

To Test: Wiggle the plug wire near the plug to see if that makes a noticeable difference. If you can make any lights or display on the toaster flicker by wiggling the wire that"s a clear sign there"s an intermittent problem in the wire. Use a spare plug wire in lieu of the original one and see if that resolves the issue.

Background: we"ve seen this a couple of times: people yank the plug wire out of the wall socket by yanking on the cord, causing the stranded wires in the cord to break over time. It usually gets weak right near the base of the molded plug. If the toaster has lights or an LED display they may still light up and make the toaster look like it"s getting electricity: it"s just not getting enough electricity to run the toaster.

Check the plug wire first before going to the effort of opening the toaster to clean the contacts. While this is a less common failure mode it"s easier to check and will save you a lot of troubleshooting time.

To Fix: Clean off the carbon from the contacts and the toaster will work again. We use an emery board and push it back and forth between the contacts until they"re clean again and can conduct electricity.

Additional Information: The arcing is due to slightly misaligned contacts that made it through poor quality control. The toaster works initially but over time electrical sparking between the contacts due to the misalignment creates carbon build up: that build-up is electrically insulating.

There"s a lot of current going through that contact because of the way a pop-up toaster works. When you push the toasting lever down it also makes contact with a solenoid (an electromagnet) that holds the lever down. The current for that electromagnet flows through the carbonized contact along with all the electricity to run the nichrome wire heating elements: not enough current and the electromagnet doesn"t energize and the lever doesn"t stay down.

If the bread is folding within the grabbers, the springs pushing the grabbers together could possibly be malfunctioning. This will require opening the toaster, you can follow this Bread grabber spring guide, or one more specific to your device.

Most toasters will come with a crumb tray to allow the removal of some of the crumbs that may be causing the burning smell. Check on the bottom of the toaster for a metal tab to release the crumb tray plate (and crumbs!) over a trash can. Also try flipping the toaster upside down and, very gently, shaking the crumbs out. If your toaster needs a more in depth cleaning, try this bread tray maintenance guide or one more suited to your specific device.

If there are bread crumbs on the coils themselves, ensure that the toaster is off and not connected to any power, then gently pry the crumbs out of the heating element.

The dial may no longer be in communication with the device itself. This will require the opening of the toaster to see if there is something (i.e. a crumb) interfering with the browning dials inner workings or if you have a more serious problem on your hands.

High volume kitchens will want to be able to churn out orders quickly. The All Day option allows a cook to see a list of similar items totaled so they can be made all at once. For example, there are 18 burgers on order. With All Day mode activated, the number of burgers will total in one box to prevent having to manually count all tickets. This is especially helpful for Quick Service Restaurants with smaller menus and high volume.

To adjust the All Day settings, navigate toKitchen Setupunder theKitchen Setupsection found in the left-hand navigational menu in Toast"s back-end. Scroll down to the ticket screens heading. There will be an All Day Displaysection where you can adjust these settings.

No breakfast or sandwich menu is complete without a toaster that can handle your restaurant"s workload. Pop-up toasters can accommodate up to 6 slices of bread at once while requiring little countertop space. Conveyor toasters use up more counter space, but have the capacity to toast more than 300 slices of bread per hour. Find a commercial grade toaster your business can rely on by shopping our selection of Waring, Hamilton Beach, APW and Hatco Corp. countertop toasters at wholesale prices.
