There’s no doubt, this should come with the surge protector in the first place. You need this to be able to tell what the surge protector is doing, especially if it is mounted remotely.

As for the display unit, the one they sent me was an older model, I believe. As you can see, it’s not the same as the one pictured. I can deal with the buttons as opposed to the toggle switch. I drilled the 4 corner mounting holes myself. My only other real complaint is the quality. It just has a very “cheap” look and feel to it. The printing on the plastic is sub-par and the plastic itself has blemishes from the manufacturing process. Not a good look when installed next to a Victron GX touch display.

Overall, I would recommend because you actually need this if you want to know what your surge protector is doing, but the manufacturer, Southwire, could do better.
