Chino, CA, March 1, 2021– Tianma, a leading global manufacturer of flat panel displays, has introduced a new product family of TFT LCD Modules (Thin Film Transistor - Liquid Crystal Display). The new P-Series (Professional Series) of standard products is dedicated to support the various requirements of the industrial and medical display markets. The first products in this new series will include XGA displays (8.4”, 10.4” and 12.1”), as well as wide-format products, from 7” WVGA to 13.3” FHD.

The P-Series display products will be available in three grades – Advanced, Basic and Entry – to better support the different customer needs in a variety of markets, including a range of features and product specifications around pixel density, viewing angle, contrast ratio, color gamut, black level uniformity, etc.

The Basic grade of P-Series displays will offer a very good performance-to-cost ratio, meeting the standard specification and performance requirements of the market with typical brightness ratings and long-life LED backlights. The Entry level provides more cost-effective solutions for price-sensitive markets and applications.

All three grades of the P-Series family will be available in production for a minimum of five years (typically seven years or more) with a small minimum order quantity (MOQ). The P-Series will also be engineered around dedicated design rules to meet the particular requirements of the professional market. Further, the manufacture and assembly of the TFT-LCDs and PCAP sensors will all be done in-house, with industrial level driver support.

Samples from the initial P-Series product offering will be available starting Q1 2021. These first displays will include wide-format 7” WVGA, 10.6” WXGA, and 13.3” FHD products, in the Advanced high brightness versions. The first products with 4:3 format will all have XGA resolution and include both Advanced high brightness and Basic, in sizes 8.4”, 10.4” and 12.1”.

Regarding Tianma’s legacy Professional TFT LCD products, both standard TM-series and all NL-series modules will be promoted alongside the new P-series product offering. All of these products will remain in production and will continue to be fully supported.

CLEARink announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China-based display maker Tianma to establish a partnership framework for developing CLEARink’s patented ePaper 2.0 displays

Tiama will develop TFT backplanes and module assemblies for CLEARinks next-generation e-paper displays for tablets, IoT displays and other applications.

CLEARink also announced that its ePaper 2.0 technology has been trial manufactured and tested and the company will soon ship sample kits to select customers. The company"s displays offer both color and video capabilities - while requiring low power and sunlight readability.

CLEAink told us that the prototype panels are 9.7-inch in size with a 227 DPI resolution. The panels support 24-30 fps video and feature a contrast ratio of 1:20 in monochrome and 1:16 in color (it supports up to 4,096 colors). The company"s calculations say that a tablet with such a display will be able to offer 20 days of battery life, while running 5 hours of full videos each day.

We saw CLEARink"s latest color e-paper displays at SID 2018 - including a 1.32" 202 PPI display that offered a color gamut of 30% NTSC (1931 CIE) that looked quite good for a reflective display. CLEARink also demonstrated a few of its older-generation monochrome and tablet displays. You can see these displays in the video above.

Review Display Systems introduces a new 18.5-inch TFT display module from industrial display manufacturer Tianma. The P-series P1850FHF1MB01 features Full HD resolution, a wide 16:9 aspect ratio and in-plane switching technology which provides excellent optical performance.

Tianma P-series (Professional series) TFT display modules have been designed and developed to deliver high levels of optical performance and meet the demanding needs of industrial, medical, and in-vehicle display markets and applications where reliable and consistent operation is considered essential.

The 18.5-inch display features Tianma’s proprietary SFT (Super Fine TFT) wide viewing technology which enables viewing angles of 88 degrees in all viewing directions (left, right and up, down). A contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a white LED backlight, with an integrated driver and 50K hour half-brightness lifetime, provide a specified brightness rating of 400cd/m² and ensure that the 18.5-inch P-series TFT module produces display images that are colourful, bright, and highly consistent.

An extended operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C is supported.
