Let’s face it – a car’s features often become a determining factor in which dream vehicle we purchase. Many car features having to deal with our phone can quickly become outdated and non-compatible. Remember the days when plugging your phone into the auxiliary cord was the newest feature that made CD players obsolete? Now, Dodge Ram brings about a more advanced update in their innovations, particularly the 12 inch touchscreen!
The Ram 1500 is known for the most luxurious truck in its class and the new Ram 1500 comes with a Uconnect infotainment system and a 12 inch touchscreen, the largest in its class.
Active Noise Cancellation. Frame-mounted active mass modules working in harmony with the available interior active noise cancellation system. It helps reduce ambient sound to provide an interior quietness in real world conditions.
2021 Ram 1500 boasts not only its 12 inch touchscreen but also its Alpine® Premium Audio System. This exceptional system includes 9 speakers, which was the most in its class, and is available with genuine stainless steel speaker grilles (available on Dodge Ram’s trim Laramie).
According to a review for the Dodge Ram 1500, “The optional 12-inch Uconnect system screen offered by Ram helped put this truck over the top when it won our 2019 Truck of the Year award. All trucks offer touchscreens at this point, and some don’t even sell a trim level without one. Ram, and its parent company FCA, have long been leaders in terms of the software on the screen, but the 2019 Ram 1500 brought the hardware, too.”
Ram 1500’s Uconnect infotainment system is a good one, but it is the 12 inch touch screen size that sets this vehicle apart from the other class. The larger touchscreen makes everything easier to see and to use.
It is now easier to use the infotainment system because the buttons are bigger and easier to see on the screen. You can also use the lower and upper half, to display different things. For example, the lower half of your car display could pull up your Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions while the other half could be your navigation system or audio system.
If you want to have a Dodge Ram navigation system upgrade to 12 inch touchscreen, you can come to check out MVI. MVI, Inc. consists of factory integrated multimedia navigation system integration experts and we can help you upgrade your Dodge Ram navigation system. We also offer to upgrade your Dodge Ram navigation system to an 8.4 inch touchscreen with Uconnect. Fitments for these upgrades includes 2019 – 2021 Dodge Ram vehicles.

Technology is moving an incredible pace, and especially in the automotive world and the smartphone world. Combining those two industries is crucial for safety. Thanks to both auto and phone manufacturers, this is now easier than ever. When pickup trucks have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, everyday smartphone functions become integrated with the vehicle.
It’s plug and play for the most part. No more messing around with Bluetooth if you don’t want to. Phone calls, navigation, messaging and more can all be done hands free. Apps from your phone are visible on the trucks touchscreen and the truck will even read your text messages to you.
Ram introduced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into their trucks in 2018, however not all trim levels have it, so here’s a breakdown list. It really depends on how the truck was ordered from the factory. It’s likely that any 2018 RAM 1500 or newer truck with the 8.4″ touchscreen will have Apple CarPlay or Android. To be sure, here’s what the factory features availability list shows.
Other than the base model work trucks called the Tradesman, every other trim level of 2019 RAM Trucks have Apple CarPlay Android Auto.Tradesman (not available)
When it comes to pickup trucks with Apple CarPlay Android Auto, the all-new Jeep Gladiator is included. Arriving in 2019, the Gladiator is loaded with technology.S (not available)
Chevy is one of the first to offer pickup trucks with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the Silverado. Although Android Auto wasn’t added until later 2016.
Toyota are a little late to the party when it comes to Apple CarPlay. Insisting on continuing to offer their own Entune platform for years. Nonetheless they’ve joined now, and as of 2020 the Tundra and Tacoma trucks have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa.
On the surface, the redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 appears to be a great option for consumers looking for a reliable pickup truck. Common models of the top-selling vehicle include the Classic, EcoDiesel, and TRX. The pickup stands from a very competitive field with its excellent fuel economy, spacious cabin, and outstanding durability.
Unfortunately, customers quickly found major complications after driving their new pickup trucks in the first year of purchase. Despite being a newer model, there appears to be a long list of issues that affect the 2019 Ram 1500. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are currently 22 recalls that include the 2019 Ram 1500. They involve problems with braking axles, airbags, driveshafts, and other components.
A high number of owners of new Ram 1500s have experienced safety defects in their cars within months of purchase. 2019 Ram 1500 problems include symptoms involving the engine, electrical system, transmission, and steering systems.
Engine problems in the 2019 Ram pickup are common. Drivers routinely report hearing high-pitched squealing noises in the engine area of their cars right before the air conditioning begins to blow hot air. Acceleration can also be an issue. Some Ram drivers say their trucks randomly accelerate or decelerate while in motion. Strong fumes and ticking noises are also not uncommon.
One FCA customer describes extensive symptoms in their vehicle, “the other day I could smell a strong odor coming from the hood of my 2019 Ram. I started feeling a little woozy and light-headed from the amount of exhaust fumes coming from the engine. I later investigated the smell and found that the engine was also making a loud ticking noise as well.
Additionally, the engines in affected vehicles may also stall, suddenly shut off, or fail to start. These problems are serious safety concerns for Ram drivers who encounter them while operating their vehicles.
Numerous models in FCA’s lineup have been recalled for engine troubles. This year in May, a group of Ram customers, including two 1500 Ram pickup drivers, filed a class action lawsuit against FCA, alleging that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles with defective components that can result in engine ticking noises or even engine failure. The following vehicles are included in the suit:
Ram 1500 drivers have encountered issues with nearly every electrical component in the cab of the truck. Lights malfunction, the dashboard displays can go blank, car batteries can drain, and power mirrors can refuse to move. Random recurring warning lights are also a problem. Electrical issues like these can make the vehicle impossible to start or disable important vehicle operating functions like the navigation system.
One Ram driver told NHTSA the following, “started my vehicle and the instrument panel was blank. I can’t get messages, warnings, cruise control information, or anything else that provides vehicle operating specifications (engine temperature, oil temperature, transmission temperature, etc.). Failure of the instrument cluster to properly illuminate prevents me from receiving warnings about the vehicle’s systems and increases the risk of crash.”
The transmission system in the 2019 1500 Ram does not appear to be durable or reliable. Rear axles routinely fail, which can cause the wheels to lock in place. 2019 Ram 1500 transmission problems can cause the following symptoms in affected pickups:
These issues can be dangerous, one driver wrote about this experience in their formal complaint to NHTSA: ““While stopping at the red light and applying the brake, the truck experienced a sudden acceleration burst.
Even though the brake was fully applied, the engine was accelerating on its own and pushing the truck. At low speed (<5 mph) and with the brake fully applied, the truck hit a minivan in front of me and continued to push it towards the intersection in bursts as I was depressing the brake pedal.”
Steering issues frequently appear in the 2019 1500 Ram. Drivers report losing the ability to steer their pickup trucks. Steering can lock in place suddenly while the vehicle is in motion. Structurally, the 2019 model year Ram 1500 appears to be loose. Because of this, components do not seem to work well in unison with each other, causing both steering suspension problems. Several formal complaints filed with NHTSA mention hearing strange rattling noises in the steering suspension area.
In 2019, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled about 160,000 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles due to steering issues. Defective battery ground circuit fasteners improperly installed during manufacturing can apparently result in loss of power steering in affected vehicles. The fastener can loosen enough to create an open circuit that eventually cuts power steering while driving. This can cause sudden understeering or oversteering in affected Ram pickups.

Some of the biggest differences are under the skin. Like any good off-roader, Ram focused on making sure it could handle a muddy trail, as well as the daily drive on pavement.
Big 33-inch 285/70R17 series Toyo “Open Country” all-terrain tires help outfit the Rebel for off-road duty. These are mounted-on Rebel-specific 17-inch wheels with a half-inch offset to make the Rebel a bit wider. Ram even gave the Rebel revised wheel alignment specs to make up for the increased ride height.
Speaking of ride height, the Ram starts with a mild one-inch lift, but you can get another one-inch of lift with the push of a button. That means a 23.8-degree approach angle, even at normal height.
The Rebel utilizes the standard Ram air suspension, but with a press of the “Off-Road” in the Rebel, you can get that extra one-inch of extra ground clearance when needed.
On the exterior, you’ll the large “RAM” grill instead of the normal Ram crosshair grille. Elsewhere, you’ll find black trim all around, including cool black fender flares borrowed from the Ram Power Wagon. The rear bumper has cutouts to ensure that more of the tire is exposed for better clearance.
The engine options in a Ram Rebel from 2015 to 2018 come from the regular Ram lineup. They include a 3.6L V6 Pentastar with 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque, or an optional 5.7L Hemi V8 putting out 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.
On the inside, the Ram Big Horn-based interior has lots of black and red stitching. The coolest feature is the Toyo Open Country pattern that has been emblazoned onto the seating surfaces.
