If the hole is only in a thin surface film, you might be able to press it flat, but if the film has been distorted (stretched), it probably won"t stay flat. You might find that over time, the film may flatten a little on its own. I would not try to soften it with heat because some plastics will shrink and shrivel, making it worse and eliminating any chance for improvement.

If it is a puncture hole that extends into other plastic layers, you will not be able to flatten the raised rim of the hole without damaging a bigger area.

In terms of filling the hole, that is also likely to make it worse and if not, probably won"t improve it. It also depends on the purpose of the surface film and the cause of the bright spot. If it is an anti-glare film, the bright spot may be the next layer. Anything that is not anti-glare film will be a similarly non-diffusing surface. If the filler doesn"t have the same refractive index as the next layer, it may create cloudiness or distortion that will also be noticeable.

Filling the hole with something like what is used to fill holes in car windshields is likely to make it much worse. That material is similar to superglue. It may etch the surface. It may wick under the film and damage a large area. The fumes may etch the surface over a large area.

Similarly, trying to glue down the surface film may wick under the film and mess up a large area. If you use an adhesive that doesn"t wick, you would need a way to compress the film flat until it cures to avoid a permanent bump. Material thick enough not to wick is likely to leave a raised area. The screen sandwich is manufactured using tightly stretched sheets of material that are compressed together and bonded under pressure. It is not a condition you can reproduce to repair a spot.

There isn"t a practical way to actually repair it, but can you make it less noticeable? A number of people responded with ideas based on the principle that a dark spot may be less noticeable than a bright spot. You could potentially make it a little less noticeable, but it"s a question of how much improvement can you achieve and at what risk.

No matter what you do, it will still be noticeable. Maybe a darker spot won"t bother you as much if you get it right. But there is a good chance of achieving little or no net improvement, and a substantial risk of making the situation worse in a non-fixable way.

Anything hard, like a pencil or pen tip, can nudge more film loose, making the hole bigger. Any liquid can wick under the film, leaving a big stained area. Assume permanent markers that will stick to the film will be permanent, whether or not it turns out to be an improvement.

Don"t count on a redo or cleanup, because cleaning fluids, including any dissolved materials, can wick under the film, and rubbing is likely to make the hole bigger. So if you don"t get it as good as you"re going to get it on the first try, you have a good chance of making the problem permanently worse.

Now that you"ve been forewarned, if you are determined to try this, here"s an approach I would try if it was a last resort (disclaimer, I"ve never tested it, but it seems like the least risky alternative). Practice the procedure first on something else to get the feel for how things behave and how much working time you have. Work with a magnifier and good light so you can see what you"re doing. Do the procedure with the screen lying face up and level.

Use a very viscous sticky material with temporary adhesion, like rubber cement for paper. Use an extremely fine-tipped brush, or be extremely gentle with a toothpick, to apply a thin layer to the hole, being careful not to get it anywhere else (not getting it anywhere else is more important than perfectly filling the hole).

While it is still tacky, dust on some dry powdered graphite using a pinpoint applicator (sold in hardware stores as a lock lubricant). Use a soft brush and blowing, while protecting the hole, to remove any graphite that lands outside the hole (you can clean the rest of the screen as you normally would, just be careful to avoid the hole). If you"ve made the problem worse, you may be able to carefully peel this filler off when it dries.

If the hole bothers you so much that you are ready to replace the screen or buy a new monitor, you don"t have much to lose by attempting these measures (other than possibly not having the monitor as a backup in the latter case). Otherwise, consider whether the risks outweigh the minor potential improvement.

Unfortunately, this is one of those problems where the best solution may be to change how you view the problem. You"re aware of the hole, which serves as a constant reminder. Instead of letting the hole bother you, think about how much money you will save by simply living with it. Every time your eye is drawn to it, remind yourself of the savings from not buying a replacement monitor. :-)

Mitsubishi Electric company from Japan is well-known the world over for large-screen display panels and industrial-strength LCD monitors. Some of the popular models in use today include the Mitsubishi LDT461V industrial monitor along with the MDT461S and MDT402S LCD monitors.

You may notice that all of these monitors are pretty big in size, ranging from 40-46 ″. To make a comparison, they are similar to the sizes common among plasma televisions, but the technology that powers them is pure LCD.

And like any other LCD monitor manufactured in past two decades, there are two problems that affect even the Mitsubishi monitor– (1) Scratched screen, and (2) Dead backlight.

Since Mitsubishi LCDs are used as industrial-grade displays, the front panel is pretty strong and resistant to scratching. There’s a manufacturing difference between screens used in an industrial setup and one installed in homes.

In the latter case, chances of minor yet visible scratches across the screen are pretty high. The quick fix is to either use a little toothpaste to “fill in” the scratch gaps, or to use a white eraser and vigorously (but gently) rub over the visible scratches.

Make sure it is a brand new one that has never been used before if you’re using an eraser. I’ve tried this scratch repair trick on certain projection TVs and it works fine there.

The second problem is that of backlight repair. The backlight is a thin CCFL tube that lights up the monitor screen. It is powered by an inverter board that converts low-voltage DC input to high-voltage AC output.

Backlight failure is a problem that affects all LCD monitors– including Mitsubishi– though the lifespan will vary based on how you operate it and the quality of in-built electronic components.

The easiest way to repair a LCD backlight is to get a compatible replacement from eBay or the manufacturer’s website. For the most part, you don’t need to buy a new inverter as the existing one can be reused.

I had an accident when moving it and cracked the glass panel. I switched it back on a couple of days after and to my surprise i could see nothing wrong with it. Even the back lit display hid the cracks in the glass panel.

I took it back to the apple store in Hamburg and they told me that it"s only cosmetic damage and would only need a glass panel. They sent it to Berlin to be repaired(I guess shipped in the original box along with the cracked glass panel) and i get an email telling me that it needs a new glass panel, rear casing and a new LCD screen. (because of the scratch it has)

Basically i would like to know if this scratch could be seen when the computer is switched on up and running. I took some photo"s and video footage of it working and you can clearly see nothing wrong with the LCD screen. So is it possible to see this scratch, will it affect the screen quality at all?

The problem is,is that the imac was shipped from Hamburg to Berlin (With the broken screen). I haven"t been able to see how it looks at this time. I asked them if it could be seen when switched on, but i don"t get a straight forward answer from them, only that in their opinion it"s "only cosmetic"

So i"m wondering if it cannot be seen here, and the question i asked them,if the scratch can be seen when switched on, to which i"ve had no answer. If it can be seen then i think that they accidently scratched it when taking the glass of, or when it was shipped to them in transit.

It’s feasible to get rid of scratches on a phone without paying to have an expert replace your screen. These scratch removal methods can be used for any smartphone.

First, purchase a screen protector and apply it to your scratched screen. In some cases, this will hide hairline scratches. More importantly, it prevents the scratches from getting worse while protecting your screen from future scratches and cracks.

NOTE: While a display screen protector usually does a great job of hiding small scratches, if you have a deep scratch, it may only make it more noticeable by capturing an air bubble over the scratch, underneath the protector. However, the protector will make it simpler to use the screen beside your finger or stylus getting caught on scratch.

You can use epoxy, Gorilla, or super glue to fill in the scratches on your phone’s screen. The key is to use a small amount. Here’s how to use glue to fill in your screen scratches.

5. Once the glue has dried, use fingernail polish remover, and dabbed onto a cotton ball to wipe away the excess glue, being careful to keep the liquid from running into the ports.

While it is impossible to completely remove scratches, you can smooth out and minimize the edges of the scratch so that they are harder to see and feel. Before trying any of these screen repairs, turn your phone off and cover your phone’s ports with tape to prevent liquid from seeping into the phone’s components and damaging the phone.

Warning: Try these techniques at your own risk. Polishing could remove some of the oleophobic coating, a thin layer of material that allows your fingers to drift over the touch screen. Even with the gentle abrasive methods listed here, you also risk removing some of the coatings on the screen.

Diamond Paste is a fine powder made from diamonds that are used to gently sand and smooth surfaces, and can also be used to remove scratches from phone screens. Depending upon the depth of the scratch you may need to begin with a coarser paste and finish with a smoother paste.

1. Use tape to cover the unscratched parts of your screen to keep the compound from sticking to these areas. It’s best to repair one area of the screen at a time.

2. Diamond polishing kits usually come with a felt tool to apply the paste and work it into the scratch. Alternatively, you could use the eraser side of a pencil. Apply a small amount of the diamond polishing paste to your tool and work the compound across the scratch.

Using a ratio of two parts powder to one part water, create a polishing paste using baking soda or cornstarch. The mixture should be thick and not runny. Use a microfiber cleaning cloth to rub the paste into the cracks.

the bezel is held in place by a very strong self-adhesive coating on its back. i managed to dissolve the coating by repeated careful application of lighter fluid along the edges of the bezel (that took me a couple of hours, though). you need apply some gentle force to convince the bezel to come off, and in due course you will ruin the perfect flatness of the bezel. in hindsight, it was not worth trying because of all the consequent hassle to get it back into shape.

also, don"t try to use heat to soften the adhesive coating, or acteone to dissolve it. both methods will ruin the plastic of the calculator"s top shelf.

I had a similar problem, and wanted to share an alternate cheap fix. My 2 year old MBA screen was damaged by unnoticed juice splatter left between the keyboard and screen over night. I noticed a difference in reflectance next day, tried displex screen polish, but the damage became more noticeable! It was my successive applications of polishing chemicals that made the scratches more visible. So I would advise against that. The MBA screen is different and has a sort of film layer that can get peeled off by polishing solutions.

The fix that worked for me is to hide it with a screen protector! I had some success with a generic one called "6 pack anti-glare screen protector" for about 6 pounds. The acid damage was successfully hidden, even at different viewing angles. The downside is that you have to be really careful in applying the screen protector (my first attempt was a mess due to difficulty in aligning. I gave up, then restarted with fresh one from the remaining 5). My screen was left with small bubbles of trapped dust near the edge, but I settled because it already looked far better.

In retrospect, if my MBA had a screen protector to begin with, then I wouldn"t have had this problem. But with a brand new screen and lack of skill in applying a protector, the screen would just have annoying little bubbles earlier...

I just realized that the screen protector, has a screen protector-protector (no instructions on a generic budget product). Peeling off the glossy plastic top layer reveals the actual matte screen protector. But that lessened the bubbles since most of them were between these two additional plastic layers. There are other types of screen protectors if you want to maintain the glossy mac screen finish, but I"m not sure whether they would be as effective in hiding scratches underneath. My mac screen now looks like a thinkpad"s but the scratches are still hidden.

LCD screens are fragile and prone to scratches. These scratches cannot be repaired but can be made less noticeable by following some simple methods. We will discuss some of these methods to fix scratches on an LCD.

Take a tsp. of petroleum jelly on a microfiber cloth and buff it across the entire LCD screen. It will give a shine to the screen and will also camouflage the scratches.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens are known for their clarity, good picture quality, and energy-efficiency. This is the reason they are widely used in almost all the devices, such as computers, TV, mobile phones, etc. These screens are very delicate and must be handled with care. But, no matter how many precautions you take, they are bound to get scratched. These scratches cannot be removed or fixed completely, but can be made less apparent with the help of some simple but effective methods.

Before any fixation, check the LCD’s warranty period. If you are under the warranty, then you will get a free repairing service from the company. In case the scratch is deep and long, then it is better to get it repaired from a professional.

You cannot fix the scratches completely on an LCD TV but you can camouflage them for a pretty good period. Following are some of the methods that you can follow to get the scratches fixed.

Method: Clean the surface with the help of water and cloth. Let it dry for sometime. Now take about 1 tsp. petroleum jelly and fill the scratches. Once all the scratches are filled, take a clean cloth and gently wipe off the extra jelly. You will see that the scratches are lighter, if not completely invisible. You may have to reapply if it wears off.

Method: Clean the scratched area properly with the help of water and a clean cloth. Let the area dry. Now take a clean pencil eraser and start rubbing over the scratch lightly. Rub it along the direction of the scratch. Keep doing it till the scratch disappears.

Method: First of all, prepare a cleaning solution. Dilute 1 part isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol with 20 parts of water. Now clean the scratched area with a cotton cloth dabbed in water. Let it dry. Dip another cloth in the cleaning solution and work on the scratch, cleaning the area gently. Keep cleaning till the scratch disappears. Now take the swab which was dipped in water, and clean the alcohol from the screen. The cleaning solution helps remove the scratch by dissolving the anti-glare coating which fills the scratched area.

Precaution: If the solution starts smudging, then stop immediately. Do not use a strong alcohol. The strength of alcohol should not exceed more than 35%.

You can easily get LCD scratch repair kits in the market under different brand names. These kits are specially made to remove scratches from any LCD screen. These kits generally contain a polishing paste and microfiber cloth. This kit will have simple instructions which you can follow and get the scratch fixed.

★ Do not rub anything against the screen, like a dirty or wet cloth, or any other material that may damage the screen. Even while cleaning, do not apply more pressure.

All the methods mentioned in this HomeQuicks article are helpful in fixing only small scratches. If the scratches are long and deep, then you either need to give it for repair, or get the LCD screen replaced. The best way to prevent scratches is to get an LCD screen protector, which will not only save your screen, but can also be easily replaced in case of damage.

The old way to refurbish the screen and back glass is to replace the front glass and back glass, which is not only difficult and costly but also less efficient. The grinding and polishing machine recommended this time is specifically designed to solve this problem in refurbishment. For the front and back glass with smaller scratches, the grinding and polishing machine only needs 3-6 minutes to complete refurbishment while bigger scratches require 8-12 minutes, which shows great power in refurbishment.

The grinding & polishing machine is used to refurbish the phone screen, back glass and apple watch screen. Refurbishing the screen and back glass is a necessary step for refurbishing factories and
