Beautiful Italian styling combined with functionality, efficient design and innovative technology have been hallmark attributes for the Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) – making it a timeless icon for nearly 60 years. And for 2016, the Fiat 500 will continue to deliver on these attributes by introducing new features and exterior paint colors to enhance the customer’s driving experience and personalization options.
For 2016, the Fiat 500 lineup features the Uconnect 5.0 system with a 5-inch touchscreen that enables handsfree calling via Bluetooth-equipped phones, as well as voice-command control of AM/FM, and optional SiriusXM Radio and navigation system. An integrated CD player offers additional media flexibility.
New exterior paint colors for 2016 are Spitfire Orange, Grigio Cenre (light gray), Rhino (dark gray) and Latte Menta (light green). Celeste Blue (light blue), previously only available on the Fiat 500 1957 Edition, is now available throughout the Fiat 500 lineup. Additional exterior customization is available with new-for-2016 wheel options.
For the driving enthusiast who wants a Fiat 500 Sport with more power and performance, the 2016 Fiat 500 Turbo answers the call with a 135-horsepower 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine, dynamic styling, sport-tuned suspension, track-proven brakes and unique sport-styled interior.
The Fiat 500 Turbo features a single turbocharger, twin intercoolers and sport-tuned exhaust to deliver 34 percent more power (135 vs. 101 horsepower) and 53 percent more torque (150 vs. 98 lb.-ft.) compared with the Fiat 500’s naturally aspirated 1.4-liter MultiAir engine. In addition, a track-proven C510 five-speed manual transmission offers an intermediate shaft with equal-length half shafts to mitigate torque steer. The Fiat 500 Turbo is also available with an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
For a more aggressive appearance, the Fiat 500 Turbo features an aggressively styled front fascia, pushed 2.7 inches (6.9 cm) forward of the Cinquecento’s signature “whiskers and logo” face, to accommodate and cool the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine.
Inside, the Fiat 500 Turbo features sport-styled seating, performance-designed leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel accented with Argento (silver) stitching and Grigio/Nero (gray/black) seating and interior environment. For an even more upscale look, heated leather seating in Nero/Nero (black/black) or vivid Rosso/Nero (red/black) is available. The standard 7-inch color TFT (thin-film transistor) cluster display allows drivers to easily monitor information.
For the individual who wants Italian style, personalization options and maximum fuel efficiency, the 2016 Fiat 500 and 500c deliver 31 mile per gallon (mpg) city and 40 mpg highway with the innovative 1.4-liter MultiAir engine and five-speed C514 manual transmission. For a more engaging driving experience, the driver can select the Sport mode on the instrument panel, which changes the throttle map for improved engine responsiveness.

The Sport model also includes a manual transmission and (in addition to the Fiat 500 Pop features) distinctively styled front and rear fascias with larger “honeycomb” grilles, flared aerodynamic treatment and fog lamps.
Between its unique 16-inch aluminum wheels with polished face and Mineral Gray painted pockets (or optional 16-inch aluminum five split-spoke design painted bright silver) and all-season tires, the Fiat 500 Sport incorporates unique bodyside sill cladding and a liftgate-mounted roof spoiler for a sporty appearance. Completing this athletic vehicle’s design theme are Rosso painted brake calipers attached to a sport-tuned suspension and fog lamps. Inside, the Fiat 500 Sport features unique sport-styled seating and a sport steering wheel surrounded by a Nero/Grigio (black/gray) or Grigio/Avorio (gray/ivory) interior environment and FIAT premium audio system with six premium speakers and 276-watt amplifier. The standard 7-inch TFT color cluster display and available leather seating in Nero/Nero or vivid Rosso/Nero deliver an upscale look.

Like the original Cinquecento, the 2016 Fiat 500 and 500c showcase the brand’s ingenuity to build world-class small cars that ignite a spirit of the times through simple design, beautiful craftsmanship and timeless value. As a result, the Fiat 500 has continued to surprise and delight customers worldwide for more than 50 years.
Satisfying the individual mobility need for Italians and other Europeans after the Second World War, the original Fiat “Nuova” 500 became a catalyst in 1957 for the country of the “poor but beautiful” to be not quite as poor. With almost 4 million examples produced between 1957 and 1975, the small and efficient Fiat 500 succeeded in providing an affordable, comfortable and reliable transportation solution while helping to ignite Italy’s post-war economic recovery.
More than 50 years later, and thanks to its stylistic and modern technological features, the modern Fiat 500 represents the spark of another milestone along the lasting process of expansion. And this is where its history started again.
Reminiscent of the original Cinquecento, the 2016 Fiat 500 builds on the vehicle’s global popularity. Since its initial launch in 2007, more than 1 million Fiat 500 vehicles have been sold in more than 110 countries around the world. The model’s unquestionable popularity is the result of the Fiat 500’s great ability to deliver unmatched personalization options with advanced solutions in terms of quality, engine performance and passenger comfort. In addition to success on the sales front, the Fiat 500 has earned more than 80 international awards.
FIAT brand celebrates more than 120 years as an automaker and some things haven’t changed. Head-turning Italian design and the ultimate fun-to-drive factor come standard with every FIAT.

You can also edit, in MultiECUScan, the TPMS calibration settings to prevent the low pressure warnings from going off. 99% of people do not need to do this, however, if you are installing this cluster in a 500T and using 500T tire pressures which are lower than Abarth pressures due to suspension differences, etc, you may get a low tire pressure warning. To resolve it, simply use Abarth tire pressures.
- A 2015+ TFT Cluster that has lower miles or kms than your current cluster. (You can get a cluster from an American or Candian car as you can switch the units to metric/imperial and it changes the odometer as well). No issues.
- It does not have to be an Abarth specific cluster, but it cannot be a 500e Cluster (although as BigDaddySRT tested, it works completely fine minus the 500e specific stuff)
Ok, so now that you have a cluster and it"s LOWER kilometers or miles than your current cluster, you have removed your current cluster and installed the new cluster. Everything seems to work out of the box except it might not be an Abarth cluster or, it"s in a base 500 mode missing some features. Also, the odometer is flashing and doesn"t match the mileage of your car.
This is where MultiECUScan comes into play. In MultiECUScan we need to write the kilometers to the cluster and perform a Proxi Alignment. It"s self explanatory, but in MES, go to the cluster section for the TFT cluster, change the kilometers to what your previous cluster had and write the changes. MAKE SURE you put in the CORRECT amount. YOU CANNOT wire the cluster to a LOWER value, it"s impossible with MES. If you have messed up, there is no fix, you will need to get another cluster or install your old cluster. I cannot stress this enough.
This will open a HEX editor-like window. This is basically what is getting written to the body control modules, CTM, etc when we do the Proxi Alignment. Find Byte 65, this is the byte that controls the TFT displays.
00 : This is the base 500 display. It has the crappy font from the base 500/500 sport and also features a Sport Mode. I personally do not like the font, gauge faces, drives me nuts, YMMV.
40 : This is the 500T display type. It features a digital turbo boost gauge (commanded boost) on the right side of the cluster in Sport Mode. I"ve been using this display for a little over 24 hours now and it works great.
- If you are running this display type in your Abarth, your OEM turbo boost gauge will be "turned off" as the 500T does not have this gauge. The cluster *runs* that turbo boost gauge. It won"t even light up. For those that have after market boost gauges in this spot, this may cause your aftermarket gauge to not get power or illuminate depending on how you wired it. This cluster uses the same font as the Abarth cluster. A+.
60 : This is the Abarth display type. It features a throttle position indicator in Sport Mode which does not work, Abarth branded Start Up/Shut Down screens and G-Force, which does not work. You can simply turn off G-Force and have it display tire pressure or the radio or average Kms to get around that issue. Not a big deal, but the throttle position gauge, there is not a fix for it yet. (This is why I switched to the 500T display type).
Note: The 2015 OEM Boost Gauge displays SPORT, not SHIFT UP like the 2014 and earlier models. In sport mode *SHIFT UP* will always be lit up on the boost gauge in Abarth mode. The solution is to replace the OEM boost gauge with a 2015 gauge (should be direct fit) or just ignore it haha.
Ok, so to recap, CTRL ALT C, find byte 65, change that byte to the display type you want (00, 20, 40 or 60), press OK, perform the Proxi Alignment Procedure.
driver to monitor their driving style in order to increase fuel economy. The efficiency of the driving style is displayed on a gauge located on the right side of the instrument cluster and ranges from a minimum value of 0 up to a maximum value of 5 (0 = low, 5 = high). A higher “ECO” index indicates a more fuel efficient drive style and will increase your fuel economy. A lower “ECO” index indicates fre- quent accelerations/decelerations and will decrease your fuel economy. The index is recalculated ap- proximately every second and takes into account a combination of the instant fuel economy and your driving style during the current trip.
When Sport mode is selected, the TFT display changes its appearance and a G-Meter displays lateral and longitudinal acceleration. The Eco-Index meter is dropped and is replaced by a gauge that measures accelerator pedal pressure.

Obviously I don"t have every single kind of Fiat made, but I can download the manual in a jiffy, and flip pages (scroll) online for any of the cars Fiat makes. Bonus, I can zoom in using the online manual! I like that.
I couldn"t find what I wanted on the DVD manual when I first got my Fiat. Now here I am years later trying to help other people find things via the online manuals. You want to know everything at once, but it takes a bit of time. It"s too much to learn all at once! All those neat hidden features via the MENU button on the dash, some will be very useful. Some you might not use at all. Some you may use part of the time.
You didn"t mention what kind of Fiat you have, colors, interiors, options (if any). There are extra things to learn about the convertible, like the top will go up a smidge if you want to access the trunk. And that there is a speed limiter on how fast you can go with the top in certain positions.

Well, he might not have come back but your comments helped me and the parts about the paper manual and the dvd are valid! I"m a stick shift guy and bought my 500 Sport with an automatic, couldn"t figure out what the +/- marks by the shift indicator were and it took a lot of searching on the dvd to find it. Same thing with the audio system, couldn"t figure out how to do what I needed to with the few instructions given. Unfortunately my audio system has gremlins that add to the problem. Old folks like me love wasting paper!
Yes, I finally found that if you push the "main" button you could then select options for the media player like "shuffle" etc. The trouble is that in the "old days" you could take your owners manual out to the car and get things sorted out (my last 2 cars were Fords and figuring out the "sync" system was much easier with the manual in my lap). I know a lot of people have phones that they can pull up all of that info through their apps and I think that the Fiat 500 pretty much caters to young people who have that tech, I barely use a cell phone so it really isn"t cost effective to do that for me. The good news is even old people can learn all of this! (I didn"t even know the music in my home computer was all .wma until I made a CD for my sister and it wouldn"t work in her car even though it worked in mine, same thing with my media players, a mix of .wma and mp3 which functioned fine in the Fords but confused the hell out of my Fiat).

Used TFT clocks DIM from S/V60, XC60, S80II, XC/V70III made in the years 2014 to 2017 (the unit from V40 series can only be used in V40 cars - it has different mechanical shape than x60, x70, x80)
make sure that you located the TFT DIM that matches the transmission type of the target car - Automatic (PRND display) or Manual (+ Gear -) on the right side of the display. Diesel/petrol fuel type of the donor car does NOT matter.
Then press DECODE CEM. We must warn you this process can take up to 24 hours(but on average it usually does not take more than 12 hours). During the whole process you can interrupt the decoding process and continue later. If you do the CEM PIN decoding then you no longer need to do it again. Thanks to this you can also make other changes in the vehicle configuration including the TFT retrofit. After this process is done you will receive an email to the account you put in in the beginning.
Then choose CAR CONFIGURATION and then “Car configuration wizard”. Then you only need to choose the “TFT retrofit” wizard. Make sure DIM is connected.
Connect DiCE again, turn the ignition key to position II and open VDASH again on your computer. Go to “Car configuration wizard” and choose TFT retrofit again.
VDASH will begin to look for the newly connected TFT DIM. If all wires are correctly plugged in, the update process will begin. If not then check the connecting of the wires again using the multimeter.
Your vehicle will restart itself many times during the process and at the end you will see a picture of the vehicle, the state of fuel and more. At the very beginning the incorrect measures can be displayed, but after a short trial run it should be fixed. The kilometres will also automatically reappear.
You can change and move the clock motivesonly when the engine is running (this does not have any specific explanation). The designated motive is Elegance(grey or brown). It is possible to reprogramme this motive to a blue version “R-design” (using car configuration > advanced settings > Advanced TFT DIM settings > Screen Skins > DIM: R-design menu), motives Ecoand Powerremain unchanged.
1. Temporarily disconnect newly connected cables from the white DIM connector, and connect the original DIM2. Start the engine (SCL the steering lock will now unlock)3. While the engine is running, disconnect the original DIM connector and reconnect the additional wiring, connect the TFT DIM4. Turn the engine off and lock the car5. SCL will NOT turn on again (unless you connect the original DIM). You will not observe any further immobilisation issues.
The location of the VIN number of the car differs per brand and type of car. The code may be stamped on the frame of the car or mounted on a plate. It is best to consult the manual of the Fiat 500 (2016)for the exact location of the VIN number.
Initially only available in a 2-row, 5-seat configuration, the lengthened 3-row, 7-seat variant, called the "500L Living", began production in 2013 for the European market. For model year 2018, the 500L received an intermediate facelift, with revised front and rear fascias along with In-car entertainment (ICE) updates and interior revisions.500L was discontinued in the North American market after model year 2020.
The 500L derives its name from Fiat"s widely known 500 models, including the original 1957 Fiat 500 and the current Fiat 500, introduced in 2007. Underscoring its increased length and overall size over other 500 variants, the suffix L denotes "large", "light" and "loft".
In April 2010, when Fiat released its 2010-2014 product development plan, the 500L was identified as a replacement for the Fiat Idea and its rebadged variant, the Lancia Musa — and was given the internal designation L0 or Ellezero. Two variants were projected, five and seven passenger, the latter originally targeted at North America but ultimately only marketed in Europe.
The 500L platform was based on Fiat"s "Small" platform, first used with the Fiat Grande Punto and further developed since its launch in 2005. With the 500L, the platform is both longer and wider to accommodate the 500L"s cab forward architecture, prioritizing interior volume and reducing of the volume of mechanical systems.
The packaging design closely follows the Lancia Megagamma concept, which Fiat had commissioned from Italdesign in 1979, for a 4-meter, high roof, high h-point, multifunctional, monospace design.
Designers of the 500L said its overall architecture was inspired by Villa Savoye, the modernist house designed in the 1930s by Le Corbusier located in Poissy, France. Fabrizio Vacca, senior interior designer with Fiat"s Centro Stile in Turin described a "layered" theme with a base, a middle with expansive visibility and above that an available, very large, dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
As a five-door, five passenger, two-box, high-roof B-segment MPV, the 500L is based on a variant of the Multiair engines, a hydraulically-actuated variable valve timing (VVT) engine technology enabling "cylinder by cylinder, stroke by stroke"
The 500L"s structural architecture uses 74% high strength steel (HSS) and complies with international safety standards. With three front-end load (crash) dissipation paths the design has wide rear door openings; roof pillars that enable a 90% visibility for the driver"s 360° field of view. Bodywork has a frontal area of 2.54 m2 and a low aerodynamic coefficient of drag (cd) of 0.30 enabled by rear spoiler, underbody engine and rear suspension shields, and integral rear side window nolder profiles (i.e., small aerodynamic lips) to decrease pressure behind the bodywork and reduce mud and debris build-up on the rear window.
The 500L uses shock absorbers (marketed as Koni Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) Technology) designed to filter out high-frequency suspension inputs from uneven road surfaces while maintaining ride control mechanically rather than electronically.
In 2012, the 500L debuted formally at the Geneva Auto Show — followed by a media introduction at the Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR), the former Grand Repair Workshops of the Italian Railway, now a cultural center located at Corso Castelfidardo 22 in Turin — on 4 July, the day of the year when Fiat has historically introduced its 500 models. The introduction presentation was built around the 500L themes of Large (a large MPV within a 4.1 meter footprint), Light (a light eco-footprint), and Loft (an expansive, lofty interior).
Manufacture of the 500L began at Fiat"s Kragujevac plant in Serbia, joint venture (JV) between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) which owns 67% of the operation and the Republic of Serbia, which owns the remainder. The facilities had previously served as the factory and headquarters for Zastava Automobiles.
500L production was originally scheduled for manufacture at the Italian Mirafiori plant in Turin and was moved to Serbia, because of poor labour relations in Turin.
In 2013, a ship carrying the first 3,000 Fiat 500L units for the North American market docked in the port of Baltimore to unload its first consignment, subsequently delivering the remainder of its cargo to the Canadian port of Halifax.
Fiat markets the 500L in various trim levels worldwide, beginning in 2014 in the US with four trim levels: Pop, Easy, Trekking, and Lounge — subsequently consolidated to three levels with model year 2017. Trim levels available globally include Sport in Canada in lieu of Easy — and Pop Star in Europe. Engine and transmission options vary by country and model year. Available transmissions include a six-speed manual, dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and an Aisin six-speed traditional torque converter automatic.
Trekking models, first presented at the 2012 LA Auto Show feature revised front and rear fascias, optional two-tone Nero/Marrone (black/brown) interior upholstery and distinct options packages. In 2017, the Fiat 500L Trekking is renamed Fiat 500L Weekend in some markets, including France.
To complement the regular length 500L, codenamed Fiat L0 (or Ellezero) (design code 330),Living (or MPW in Ireland and the UK), developed under project code L1, Elleuno, or design code 334.
In 2021, new 500 family Hey Google series debuts with Google assistant, so customers can connect to their car even when they are away from it, using their own voice to request and receive information on the car and to interact with it. They can do so via their smartphone or the Google Nest Hub.
For model year 2018, all models received slightly-revised exterior styling, as well as interior revisions, including a TFT color instrument display screen centered on the instrument panel, replacing the previous monochrome LCD instrument display screen.
With the facelift, the seven-seat model was renamed the 500L Wagon (including in Ireland and in the UK, where pre-facelift models had a different name than anywhere else).
For most markets, the 500L is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines: the 2-cylinder 0.9 L Twin Air and the 4-cylinder 1.4 L petrol, and the 1.3 L and 1.6 L MultiJet II common rail diesel engines. In North America the 500L is available with only a single 1.4 L turbo petrol engine, not available in Europe. A "Natural Power" methane powered version of the 0.9 L Twin Air is available in selected European markets.
The 1.6 MultiJet II 120 PS (88 kW; 118 hp) and 1.4 T-Jet 120 PS (88 kW; 118 hp) engine versions for the 500L, 500L Trekking and 500L Living were unveiled in Frankfurt Motor Show 2013.
For 2014 three new engine options (1.6 MultiJet II (120PS) turbo diesel, 1.4 T-Jet (120PS) petrol, 1.4 Turbo LPG) were announced for all 500L derivatives. A 1.4 turbo LPG engine models of 2014 Fiat 500L would be available at later date.
For the USA introduction of the 500L, Fiat launched a commercial created by the Doner Company filmed in Old Salem, North CarolinaBryce Pinkham. Titled "Italian Invasion," the ad showed Paul Revere noticing an Italian rather than British Invasion.
FCA donated eight dark grey 500Ls for Pope Francis"s 2015 visit to the United States, two of which the Pope rode in. After serving the Pope, the cars were donated to organizations involved in the Pope"s visit, including the Archdioceses of Washington, Philadelphia, and New York.
2013 SEMA concepts: Two special versions of the 500L were unveiled in 2013 SEMA Show with a "surf and turf" theme.Mopar roof rails and a roof basket, and many other accessories from the Mopar range. The 500L Thalassa is based on the Fiat 500 Beach Cruiser from 2012, with bright orange body work and 18" orange wheels and other Mopar accessories.
2014 Fiat 500L Beats Edition: The Beats Edition was produced in association with artist and record producer Dr. Dre, Interscope Geffen A&M Records chairman and record producer Jimmy Iovine, with two-tone grey/black livery in matt or gloss finish and new interior trim. It went on sale in spring 2014 Italy, and subsequently in other markets.
Jump 10 grand or so and you reach Fiat’s Abarth line. Split into two model variants – the $33,500 Turismo 595 and $36,500 Competizione 595, but stretching to the $41,000 Competizione convertible automated manual (none of which have driveaway pricing) – the Abarth is the 500’s tattooed, gym-pumped sibling.
Carrying over the previous Esseesse model’s 118kW/230Nm 1.4-litre turbo four, tied to five-speed transmissions, the newly badged ‘595’ 500 continues to deliver a feisty, pretty hardcore driving experience – especially the Competizione with its Monza sports exhaust and custom Sabelt racing seats.
Because the Sabelt seats aren’t designed for the car, the backrest adjuster is on the door side, not inboard like on all other 500 seats, meaning anyone with arms bigger than saplings will inevitably get stuck at some point trying to lessen the pain of the rock-hard backrests.
Where the 500 works best, though, is at entry level. The base Pop belies its meagre engine specification with impressively elastic driveability and a keenness to be kicked along. It bops around a bit on its short 2300mm wheelbase, but besides some road- and wind-noise intrusion, the Pop is more refined, and a lot more fun, than you’d expect. Add 2014’s new retro hue – Mint Milkshake – and you have a lot of visual and dynamic personality for $17K.
A new six-speed automatic transmission will be the highlight of the updated US-bound Fiat 500 range when it makes its New York auto show debut next week.
Australia will miss out on the new self-shifting gearbox, however. Currently offered locally tied to a either a five- or six-speed manual or a five-speed semi-automatic Dualogic transmission, Fiat Chrysler Group Australia corporate communications director Karla Leach told CarAdvice the new six-speed auto destined for the US would not be part of our Fiat 500 line-up when the updated model goes on sale in the third quarter of 2014.
"We currently source, and will continue to for the foreseeable future, our Fiat 500s from Europe – and the transmission mentioned is only available on vehicles built for the North American market," Leach said.
Built by Japanese drivetrain specialists Aisin, Fiat says the six-speed auto has been reinforced with more clutch plates and a more robust heat treatment to allow for higher torque capability. Its Sport mode also features fuel-cut upshifts, rev-matching downshifts, brake-assist downshifts, corner gear hold and fast-off gear hold.
To be optionally available on the previously manual-only 500 Turbo, 500 Abarth and 500 Abarth Cabrio, the new transmission will be joined by a range of updates first seen in European guise at last month"s Geneva motor show.
These include a new 7.0-inch TFT instrument display panel with digital speedometer and multi-mode functionality for Eco and Sport settings, Bluetooth audio streaming and a redesigned centre console with an additional USB port and a new cupholder design.
Three new exterior paint colours – Giallo Moderna Perla (modern pearl yellow), Laser Blu (bright metallic blue), and Billet Argento (billet silver) – will also be included when the updated 500 hits US showrooms in July.
