Fancy a super nifty and handy navigation system for your new 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and/or R? Well, KTM has announced that they’ve released a brand new update for their MY RIDE application which will allow riders to have turn-by-turn navigation shown on their TFT screen display of the bike.

KTM also stated that the update can be installed on any new 2017 models and above which comes ready with their super beautiful TFT screen. The best part of it all that the new navigation update can be installed at no extra charge (provided that you’ve already opted for the MY RIDE application package when you purchased the bike).

So far, the KTM models that have the new TFT screen are the KTM 125 and 390 Duke, 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Adventure S and R, and of course the 790 Duke. So far, the models which are available now in Malaysia are the 390 Duke, 1290 Super Adventure S and R plus the 1290 Super Duke R (Quick note: The navigation can only be displayed on the 1290 Super Adventure models).

KTM has just released a brand new update to the company’s MY RIDE smartphone app, which enables owners of the 1290 Super Adventure S and R models to benefit from navigation displayed on the TFT dash of their bike. KTM has also stated that the update can be installed on 2017 models that come with the TFT screen (and the best bit), at no extra charge. Nice.

The MY RIDE app is available on both the iTunes and Google Play stores, and will cost you £7.99. The app allows riders to connect their smartphone to any KTM model that features the TFT dash. So, paired with a bluetooth headset or helmet, this means you can enjoy listening to your favourite tunes and also receive calls using the bike’s handlebar-mounted control menu – and now, with the addition of navigation.

As well as displaying a turn-by-turn navigation on the TFT dash, the app also shows the distance to your next turn, the name of the street you’re riding, your arrival time and distance to target on a separate screen next to the speedo. Pretty nifty, right?

Speaking of the changes, for the latest 1290 Super Adventure S, the company has introduced two new colours which are Orange with black and Orange with grey. The bike gets no specific changes to the styling. It will come with a split LED headlamp which looks similar to the 390 Adventure that is available in India for sale. Although, the headlamp comes bigger in size. It gets split seats, dual-barrel exhaust on the side, full fairing, alloy wheels and a tall windscreen.

Interestingly, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure Scomes with a 7-inch TFT screen which runs on a new navigation software. It is called Turn by Turn+ and works in conjunction with KTMConnect App that the rider can download. This TFT screen can be controlled via switchgear mounted on the handlebar. It gets various riding modes, advanced WP Semi-Active suspension, ABS settings and Adaptive Cruise Control.

In terms of engine capabilities, this bike retains its V-Twin LC8 which is capable of producing 158 bhp of maximum power and 138 Nm of peak torque. Interested customers can get a bi-directional quickshifter and WP Suspension as extras on option. There are other PowerParts which the company offers for the 1290 Super Adventure S.

The seat height of the KTM1290 Super Adventure S can be 849 mm or 869 mm, which depends on what the seat ride chooses. Its switches are illuminated and the Mitas Terra Force-R tyres are specialised for the 1290 Super Adventure S.

MultiViu Sports is not only a new generation of displays for the motorcycle world,” says Patric Zimmermann, “it opens up new opportunities for the motorcycle industry. By having a joint back end and a front end that can be customized to a high degree, automotive display technology can be made available to motorcycles in a cost-efficient manner, even with small production runs.” The MultiViu Sports platform also shortens the time to market for manufacturers. Displays can go into production more quickly.

The developers at Continental have not only designed the platform to permit customization of image content. Suppliers can also integrate external services such as weather information or music streaming in cooperation with manufacturers. An app with an open design connects the rider’s smartphone with the motorcycle via Bluetooth Low Energy, taking customization another step further. Continental has also designed the platform to be ready for future technologies and types of user behavior. For example, forthcoming versions of the MultiViu Sports display will offer touchscreen functionality. A video of the display can be seen on the Continental Automotive YouTube channel.

KTM North America Inc. has announced the 2023 Duke and Super Duke Duke range. After a brief hiatus, the 790 Duke and 1290 Super Duke GT will be back in KTM’s lineup, and they’re joined by the returning 890 Duke R and 1290 Super Duke R Evo. The 2023 KTM Duke and Super Duke range will begin shipping to authorized KTM dealers in December 2022, but pricing has not yet been announced.

Introduced in 2017, the KTM 790 Duke sold more than 29,000 units, and was later upgraded to the 890 Duke. KTM says the 2023 790 Duke is a “true mid-range motorcycle” that joins the 890 Duke R to fill the gap between the 390 Duke and the 1290 Super Duke R Evo.

The 790 Duke will be powered by KTM’s LC8c parallel-Twin DOHC engine with 799cc of displacement and two balancer shafts for smooth power delivery and minimum vibration.

The 2023 KTM 790 Duke features throttle-by-wire, a PASC slip/assist clutch, three ride modes (Rain, Street, and Sport), lean-angle- sensitive Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), cornering ABS with Supermoto mode, a full-color 5-inch TFT display, and LED lights front and back.

In terms of looks, the 2023 KTM 790 Duke introduces two new colorways to the mix: a traditional KTM orange scheme and an all-new gray and black motif.

The KTM 1290 Super Duke GT sport-touring bike has also returned to North America for 2023. KTM says the bike was “designed to offer riders a unique Grand Touring experience but engineered to be a true Sports bike underneath the touring parts.”

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT has enhanced emissions control and a reworked 1,301cc LC8 V-twin engine and the same standard features of the 1290 Super Duke R Evo (see below).

However, the WP APEX semi-active suspension on the 1290 Super Duke GT has been geared for the long-distance tourer, enabling the rider to set the suspension according to four different riding situations: Rider, Rider & Pillion, Rider & Luggage, or Rider, Pillion & Luggage. On top of that, the anti-dive function is fitted as standard. The larger 6.1-gal tank also contributes to the touring capabilities.

The wheels are also the same as the 1290 Super Duke R Evo and boast a weight savings of 2.2 lb of unsprung mass over the old set of rims. These all-new lightweight wheels are wrapped in new Continental ContiSportAttack 4 tires, boasting a sportier and more stable riding experience while delivering on the demand for a sportier tire to match the bike’s versatility. The 1290 Super Duke GT has a dry weight of 476 lb.

A new 7-inch TFT display has a newly designed layout, and the setup is completed by the new switchgear that KTM says not only feels premium but also allows for intuitive interaction between the rider and the dash itself.

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT will also debut an all-new navigation system called Turn-by-Turn Plus, which will be available via KTMconnect and further enhance the touring experience. TBT+ allows navigation instructions to be projected directly on the TFT display.

Powered by SYGIC, TBT+ can also operate offline, allowing riders to plan their journey and adventure from remote locations, with the Navigation feature using industry-standard mapping to guide riders to their destination of choice. There’s also an advanced search feature and a diverse range of POIs including gas stations, restaurants, and rest stops. Or you can select one of your pre-saved destinations directly from the TFT dash.

KTM says the 790 Duke is great for introducing a new generation of riders to the world of the Duke naked bike, “and when they’re ready to take things to the next level, the 2023 KTM 890 Duke R is waiting.” The company added that the 890 Duke R is as comfortable on mountain roads as it is on the track.

In addition to the standard features mentioned above for the 790 Duke, the 2023 KTM 890 Duke R has adjustable, track-ready WP APEX suspension, monoblock Brembo Stylema calipers grabbing 320mm front discs, and Michelin Power Cup II tires. The bike has a 3.7-gal tank and a dry weight of 377 lb.

Taking it up a notch, KTM’s flagship street motorcycle, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo, underwent its most significant update in 2020, boasting a number of tweaks and engineering improvements, including a reworked 1,301cc LC8 engine and an all-new chassis.

In 2022, the latest incarnation of “The Beast” was launched with the same LC8 engine making a claimed 180 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque. The bike was dubbed the “Evo” thanks to the evolution of the second-generation WP APEX Semi Active Suspension with damping adjusted in real-time based on conditions in three preset modes: Sport, Street, and Comfort. Rear spring preload can be set via the TFT display’s menu over a 20mm range in 2mm increments.

KTM says the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo has “the most power and torque in the family and the most advanced electronics to keep it all under control.” The bike features Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) with cornering ABS by Bosch including Supermoto ABS, ride mode technology, and multi-stage, lean-angle sensitive Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) using a 6 axis lean angle sensor, and cruise control. The bike has a 4.2-gal tank and a dry weight of 441 lb.

According to KTM’s relevant press release, the 1290 now has a new scratch-resistant, bigger 7” TFT display, along with additional navigation perks like extra guidance for the Turn-by-Turn on KTM’s MyRide app.

For suspension duties, we’ve been given 48 mm WP XPLOR at the front, with an adjustable rear shock at the back sporting 220 mm of travel – both of which have been“tested and refined for the characteristics of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.”

Expect the 2023 1290 Super Adventure R to hit dealerships with two new color schemes sometime this month, with an MSRP of $20,299 (plus $655 freight, according toRideApart).

MTC (MOTORCYCLE TRACTION CONTROL): The MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) lean-angle sensitive traction control system reacts immediately if the rotational speed of the rear wheel is disproportionate to the riding situation. In a matter of milliseconds, MTC reduces the engine output with an extremely smooth, barely perceptible intervention at the throttle valves, until the system has reduced slippage to optimum proportions for the selected ride mode and current angle of lean. Depending on the selected riding mode, MTC traction control allows different levels of traction slip at the rear wheel. In "Street mode" somewhat more than in "Rain mode", while slight power slides are allowed when exiting curves in "Sport mode". All this means that the rider can concentrate on the run of the road and other road users - the guarantee for maximum performance and ultimate riding pleasure, but also a decisive contribution to active safety. For particularly ambitious riders, who feel like enjoying the breathtaking propulsion of the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT without any electronic assistance, the traction control can also be switched off.

PERFORMANCE MODE: The optional PERFORMANCE MODE transforms the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT from a beastly tourer to an all-out apex slaying missile by allowing riders to tailor the level of intervention from the traction control and throttle response, turn off anti-wheelie and dial in launch control.

MOTOR SLIP REGULATION (MSR): The optionally available MSR (Motor Slip Regulation) works in the opposite direction of the MTC. If, due to quick downshifts or abrupt throttle chopping, the engine drag torque is too high, the ride by wire opens the throttle exactly as much as is needed to prevent the rear wheel from drifting. Safety first, but pleasure that comes with it is always a very close second at KTM.

LED CORNERING LIGHTS: The KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT has LED cornering lights integrated into its fuel tank. On the left and right side of the fuel tank, the cornering lights consist of three LED segments, using the lean angle sensor of the MSC system. Depending on the lean angle, the KTM cornering light can use up to all three segments, always giving the rider the perfect view of where he is going. Integrated in the cornering lights are the LED indicators, for a unique and exclusive look. Well deserved in a bike like this.

HILL HOLD CONTROL (HHC): The optional HHC (Hill Hold Control) prevents the motorcycle from accidentally rolling backwards. It identifies if the 1290 Super Duke GT is on a slope and at a standstill. After the rider has released the brake, the function automatically keeps the brakes applied until the bike is moving forward. The rider can then start off without rolling backward, ensuring a smooth start.

TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM): As its name implies, the TPMS monitors tire pressure, and gives you a view of current pressures in the TFT display. In the event of sudden loss of pressure, for example due to tire damage, a warning will alert the rider on the dash.

CRUISE CONTROL: Long motorway journeys are made even easier with the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT’s standard cruise control. Switches on the left side of the handlebar and a display in the TFT dashboard allow the rider to intuitively set and change the requested speed, so you’ll arrive at the fun bits with energy to spare.

TURN-BY-TURN PLUS: You asked for it - here it is. For the first time in KTM history, the 1290 SUPER DUKE GT will offer improved interaction with navigation directly via the TFT dash. TBT+ will allow riders GPS access while on the fly, allowing up to 10 favorited destinations, keep track of the last 10 set destinations, and even skip a waypoint on your planned route.

The completely redesigned KTM 1290 Super Adventure Models (both R and S) released to Europe last year are coming to the U.S. market for 2022 according to the following press release from KTM. KTM is also announcing some less-significant changes to the 390 Adventure. These models fill out the adventure line-up at KTM, along with the unchanged 890 models.

MURRIETA, Calif. – KTM North America, Inc. is pleased to introduce its 2022 lineup of ADVENTURE motorcycles, ushering in a new era of rider-focused design and ground-breaking technology. Leading the way are the all-new flagship models, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S and KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R. Taking full advantage of the feedback from riders across the globe, these 2022 ADVENTURE heavy-hitters fully encapsulate what it means to explore any terrain, from the pavement to the most unbeaten of paths. These new generation liter-class machines are the unquestioned halo Adventure models in KTM’s travel arsenal.

For 2022, they take their place among a pair of incredibly capable middleweights, the agile, travel-ready KTM 890 ADVENTURE and the extreme, offroad-focused KTM 890 ADVENTURE R. For riders looking for the perfect blend of travel-enduro capability and sporty, agile packaging, the updated KTM 390 ADVENTURE enters 2022 with new looks and a list of refinements. Rounding out the segment is the beloved KTM 690 ENDURO R—the do-it-all king of versatility—featuring class leading performance and technology.

Introducing a third generation of liter-class KTM ADVENTURE models, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is the sportiest and most technologically-advanced ADVENTURE bike to roll its wheels off the production line in Mattighofen, Austria. Forged to provide the benefits of a versatile sport-tourer with diligence paid to ergonomics and comfort over any terrain, in brief it’s the ultimate high-performance ADVENTURE bike.

Focusing on keener handling, the new KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S introduces a chassis overhaul that further enhances weight distribution and riding agility. A sharper cornering sensation is achieved by moving the steering head back by 15 mm and re-locating the front section of the engine. Additionally, the longer open-lattice swingarm contributes to a more stable feeling under acceleration. The subframe has been crafted to provide a lower seat height without sacrificing durability or practicality.

Surrounding the rider is a new 6.1-gal. (23-l) keyless-cap fuel tank and a set of bodywork that augments the bike’s agile handling. Every inch of the paneling has been analyzed so as not to impede comfort or performance. Providing additional comfort for the long rides, the new seat is two-tiered and adjustable by 20 mm. Also customizable are the handlebar levers, the all-new TFT dash and the windshield, which has been developed through wind tunnel testing and can be moved by 55 mm. Overall, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S excels for its lower centralization of masses and refined weight balance. It begs to be ridden hard or caressed to speed over long distances.

Regulating the ride is the new generation of electronic aids with a less intrusive level of traction control in RAIN, STREET, SPORT, OFFROAD and an updated (optional) RALLY mode. To take you to the best riding terrain with less fuss, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S introduces an innovative Adaptive Cruise Control system as standard for 2022. Developed in collaboration with Bosch, the radar-based system automatically adjusts speed and the distance to traffic ahead according to five stages that can be set with the re-designed handlebar switches.

The riding experience is further boosted with the brand new 7” TFT display that is hooked to a new Connectivity Unit for seamless smartphone pairing. The larger dashboard view has quicker and more practical menu systems as well as clear aesthetic infographics to clearly indicate various sections of the bike. The dash sits on top of a redesigned storage compartment with a USB charging socket. To communicate with the new display, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S comes with all-new switches on both sides of the handlebar, which offer a new and more seamless user experience. A new set of quick select and favorites buttons will allow for setup changes on the fly, while the rider stays focused on the roads ahead.

The heart of the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is the revised V-twin. The eye-widening power and torque come in a lighter form (-3.5 lb / -1.6 kg) thanks to thinner engine cases and a new oil circuit. The engine breathes through an upgraded two-headed exhaust and shifts with a revised PANKL gear mechanism that brings big improvements in the optional Quickshifter+ function.

The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S will hurtle along bumpy trails, courtesy of a new generation of WP APEX Semi-Active Technology suspension. The SAT boasts augmented damping thanks to new valves, while the 6D lean angle sensor inputs directly into the unit for a thorough outline of rider behavior.

Part of the updated range of KTM PowerParts specifically designed for the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is the Suspension Pro package that offers individual damping for the fork and the shock, automatic preload adjustment and an on/off Anti Dive setting. With the additional Rally Pack featuring the RALLY riding mode and the respective MTC slip adjuster, all of the Suspension Pro and Rally Pack features together with the Quickshifter+, the Motor Slip Regulation, the Hill Hold Control and the adaptive brake light are included in the all-in-one Tech Pack.

The second installment in the new generation of liter-class KTM ADVENTURE models comes in the form of the all-new KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R. Engineered to cross the wildest and most challenging terrain, this motorcycle has the capacity to take adventurers anywhere.

Primed and ready to plant its flag anywhere on the planet, the 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R shares many of the same updates found on the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S but has been designed from the ground-up with a different aim – to conquer all that comes before it, paved or unpaved.

Riding the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R across rough terrain in the easiest and most intuitive way possible has been a development priority for the completely reworked 2022 edition. All new bodywork, providing excellent ergonomics and allowing the fuel in the three-piece tank to be held as low as possible, has been designed for better agility, a lower center of gravity and optimal feeling in all riding conditions.

Further enhancing handling and offroad performance is the reworked WP XPLOR suspension. The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R benefits from KTM’s racing-won suspension tuning knowhow and has been set up to deliver the absolute best offroad capability, while still maintaining its essential touring rideability. Comfort and performance have been blended into the fully-adjustable 48 mm front forks with an impressive 220 mm of travel and split damping functions. Quick modifications are done with a twist of the respective compression and rebound dials. The same 220 mm travel graces the WP PDS shock. The confidence-inspiring versatility of the system was achieved through countless hours of test riding in the California desert, as well as long stretches of varied European landscapes.

The 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is a vessel for the latest electronics packages and continuation of the collaboration with first-rate pioneers like Bosch. A new six-axis lean angle sensor filters information on the exact pitch and position of the bike and its behavior. In turn, this affects the degree of Motorcycle Traction Control, Motor Slip Regulation, Motorcycle Stability Control and forces of Offroad ABS. Like the suspension, these systems endured endless miles of testing and tweaking to ensure their intervention improves both street and offroad performance. To fit the needs of the modern all-terrain riding enthusiast, all rider assists can be tweaked or disengaged.

As found on the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S, standard RAIN, STREET, SPORT and OFFROAD ride modes, and the optional RALLY mode, round out the full suite of electronic rider aids found on the new KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R to allow riders to get the most out of their machine.

With a lot of effort going towards optimizing the air flow through the bike, the 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R features two separate radiators instead of the one-piece unit of its predecessor. With cleverly designed air ducts, the amount of hot air streaming towards the rider´s legs has been significantly reduced and the difference becomes easily noticeable in the slow, tight sections.

To cope with the rigors of life away from the beaten track, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is armed with premium level equipment. New Adventure-specific Bridgestone tires are wrapped around ALPINA aluminum spoked wheels, which can be run tubeless with a reassuring O-ring sealant in the spoke nipples. This new-generation 2022 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R comes with modern and eye-catching paint and graphic set.

KTM ‘RACE ON’ technology takes keyless ignition to a new level of autonomy, as its separate Tire Pressure Monitor system sensors provide more detailed customization and four-piston radial mounted Brembo calipers bring the whole show to a fearsome stop or satisfying slide. The windshield, levers, pegs and handlebars are all adjustable to further enhance rider adaptability.

As is the case with its S model counterpart, the new KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R benefits from a remodeled optional software package policy. With the Rally Pack offering the RALLY riding mode, MTC slip adjuster and adjustable throttle response, the all-in-one Tech Pack includes the Quickshifter+, Motor Slip Regulation, Hill Hold Control, adaptive brake light and all the features of the Rally Pack.

Receiving select key upgrades in its 2022 trim, the KTM 390 ADVENTURE is here to let every biker experience the utmost adventure. No matter the rockiness of the mountain pass, the length of the wilderness trail or the demands of daily mileage, the new KTM 390 ADVENTURE is a highly-capable exploration companion every step of the way.

Setting the benchmark in the smaller cylinder segment for outstanding power-to-weight, technology and riding agility, the KTM 390 ADVENTURE is getting a fresh look and some key upgrades for 2022 that bring it closer than ever before to the full range of larger-displacement KTM ADVENTURE machines.

Further enhancing its potential to take riders to places far beyond the ordinary paths, the 2022 model’s extensive list of electronic features has been amplified with the addition of STREET and OFFROAD modes for Traction Control. Selecting OFFROAD from STREET will give the KTM a degree of rear wheel slip to enable even easier use of the bike in loose or wet terrain.

The KTM 390 ADVENTURE can be pushed to the extreme and if the conditions momentarily get the better of the rider, the OFFROAD TC will remain activated in the event of a brief stall or fall. The additional Traction Control capabilities make it easier to get even more exploratory, allowing the KTM 390 ADVENTURE to solidify its spot as the segment leader in terms of technology and electronic features.

Allowing riders to reach new extremes, KTM has given the 2022 KTM 390 ADVENTURE a set of even more robust cast wheels. The construction of the components is based around five spokes – instead of six – thus permitting increased stiffness and resistance for the rims.

For 2022, the visual identity of the KTM 390 ADVENTURE is bringing it even closer to the race-winning RALLY machines around the globe. Available in two distinct color versions, both options highlight the sharp lines of KTM’s ultra-versatile adventurer.

Curious and skilled riders can also fulfill their needs at the throttle of the 2022 KTM 390 ADVENTURE. To prove the point, KTM enlisted the help of multi-time Baja winner Quinn Cody and world traveler Paolo Cattaneo to provide the ultimate verdict from their own weekend adventure HERE.

The bike’s famed agility is combined with the carefully considered ergonomics that place the rider right in the heart of the bike’s movements. The 2022 KTM 390 ADVENTURE can be steered like an offroader as much as it can flip into cruise for longer highway stretches, and the new look through the colors and graphics mean that the aesthetic is as sharp as the attributes.

The 2022 KTM ADVENTURE range and KTM 690 ENDURO R will be landing at authorized KTM dealers starting December of 2021. The KTM 390 ADVENTURE will be available from February 2022 onward. For more information, visit  ktm.com.

This year I have bought my SAR. Long story short, It had some cratches on TFT display. I know this is an adventure bike, but I dont wanna be looking on scratched display (scratched protective glass is something diffrent ;-)) So I did my research, ask a lot of guys and took my bike to a couple people for polishing. Unfortunatelly nobody helped me so I had to figure it out by myself.

As we stand on the precipice of a brand-new year, KTM just pulled the covers off the 2023 1290 Super Adventure S. Boasting a full complement of sport touring amenities, including WP semi-active suspension, adaptive cruise control, a seven-inch TFT display, and more, the creature comforts are many on the newest member of the Super Adventure family.

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is powered by the Austrian firm’s 1,301cc, liquid-cooled, LC8 V-twin engine, which makes a claimed 160 horsepower and 138 newton-meters (or 101.78 pound-feet) of torque at unspecified RPMs. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox, with a hydraulic PASC slipper clutch. KTM takes pride in driving friction down with its use of diamond-like carbon (DLC) on some engine internals, as well as a Grafal finish (which also reduces friction and is more hard-wearing) on its pistons.

A new, revised chrome-molybdenum stainless steel trellis frame features a steering head that’s been located 15mm to the rear of the previous version. This, KTM says, shortens the frame, which improves cornering behavior. Meanwhile, the front engine mount was rotated forward by just two degrees, which helps the mass of the engine to keep the front end on the ground under hard acceleration. While KTM was at it, the team also redesigned the side stand—you know, just to keep the strength and lightness flowing through from top to bottom.

While the frame was shortened, KTM also extended the swingarm by 15mm (there’s that number again) to improve stability. The latest version of WP’s Semi-Active suspension comes standard on the 2023 1290 Super Adventure S, and all settings and adjustments are accessible via the TFT dash. If you purchase the optional Suspension PRO package, automatic suspension settings are available.

Of course, the onboard electronics suite is part of what sets the 1290 Super Adventure S apart from other bikes. Adjustable ride height can go from 849 to 869mm (33.4 inches to 34.2 inches), depending on rider requirements, and is accessible from the cockpit. That’s also where riders can go between Ride Modes, adjust ABS settings, and of course adaptive cruise control. The dash and switch cube help riders control it all from the comfort of that new saddle. Other features include illuminated switches, adjustable footpegs, new windshield, LED lighting all around, and revised bodywork and ergonomics.

For 2023, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S comes in an orange and black color scheme (of course), or a graded gray color scheme, which is an interesting departure from what KTM usually rolls with. Pricing and availability will vary by region, but the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is expected to roll into authorized dealers beginning in January, 2023. In the U.S., pricing starts at $20,299 plus $655 freight.

KTM’s smartphone connectivity platform, KTM MY RIDE, available on a large number of its Street range increases in functionality for 2018, with the Phone and Music functions bolstered with turn-by-turn navigation and route planning, powered by a dedicated app. Living in a connected world, KTM began introducing the possibility for users to connect their smartphones with the motorcycle in 2017. These features have been carefully designed to be intuitive to use and add to riding enjoyment, rather than distract from the road. KTM MY RIDE with Music and Phone comes equipped for activation on the KTM 390 DUKE, KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE Sand KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE Rmodels.

With a paired Bluetooth helmet headset, this connected function allows a KTM MY RIDE-equipped bike to take control of the smartphone’s music player to listen to while riding. Using the left handlebar-mounted menu switch, the rider can toggle between tracks on a playlist or music archive and control the volume, with the information of

Sometimes on a long ride it is important not to miss a call. With the ease of pairing a smartphone to the bike with KTM MY RIDE, this function allows the rider to see the identification of incoming calls on the TFT display and, using the menu switch, accept or decline the call. As a safety measure, accessing the phone’s address book and making outgoing calls is not possible.

New for 2018, turn-by-turn navigation has been introduced for the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S & R, which comes as a standard feature on the bikes. Paired with the new KTM MY RIDE app (available for Android $8.99 and iOS, $7.99), visual guidance is transmitted via Bluetooth to the TFT display to show the pre-planned destination. To save on mobile data use, maps can be downloaded for offline use; this also helps to create and save pre-planned routes. As KTM knows its ADVENTURE riders like to stray from the beaten path, up to 128 waypoints can be added to a route when planning in order to create truly unique rides. In addition, audio guidance in either English, German, Spanish, Italian or French can be utilized when also paired with a Bluetooth-enabled helmet headset. Next to the speedometer and rev counter display on the TFT display, KTM MY RIDE Navigation displays:

KTM MY RIDE Navigation is not only exclusive to those with 2018 machines as owners of 2017 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S & R can also benefit by having the cost-free software upgrade installed and activated at an official KTM dealer.

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R already represented one of the most capable full-sized adventure bikes on the market, with the ability to eat up thousands of miles, whether traversing the tarmac or dirt. For the 2023 model year, the Ready To Race brand has managed to one-up itself with its new second-generation KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.

Equipped with a skid plate, hand-guards, and a full suite of crash bars all as standard, KTM’s new top-of-the-line flagship adventure bike is constructed around a newly-designed powder-coated Chrome-moly tubular space frame that weighs only 22lbs and was engineered to enhance cornering stability and to bolster response under acceleration. The new chassis has been paired with a 48mm WP XPLOR fork, a WP steering damper, and a WP XPOR PDS shock. Powering the bike is a 1,301cc 75° V-Twin engine that’s mated to a PASC slipper clutch and good for 159hp and 101.7ft-lbs of torque. Riding on a 21/18” Akront aluminum spoked wheelset shod in Bridgestone AX41 tires, the bike also gets a completely redesigned 6.1-gallon three-part fuel tank, top-shelf Brembo brakes, tapered aluminum handlebars, a new adjustable rally-inspired windscreen, revised rider ergonomics, and new graphics options.

Brimming with cutting-edge tech, KTM’s latest full-sized adventure model also sports onboard tire pressure monitoring sensors, cornering stability control, a massive 7” TFT display, a USB phone pocket, illuminated switchgear, KTM’s Turn-by-Turn+ guidance, a RACE ON remote key system, Bosch 10.3ME Combined-ABS with adjustable and customizable settings, auto-resetting indicators, cruise control, and dedicated off-road traction control, off-road ABS, and off-road ride modes.

The benchmark stays, but will you go further? The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S removed limits and boundaries for any motorcyclist curious to #DARE2ADV. How? The power, versatility, assurance and technical excellence prompted riders to race into the unknown, safe in the knowledge that what they had underneath them would handle any requirement with a deft touch.

For 2023 KTM has taken the rich base of the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S — engineered to conquer mile after mile on all types of terrain — and added a fresh sheen as well as several refinements for the benefit of practical adventuring.

Eyes will be drawn to the two new shades: the glow of the unmissable KTM orange-and-black trim or the more neutral but elegant hue of KTM’s graded gray aesthetic. The orange — stretching all the way through to the forged aluminum subframe and engineered to offer a lower seat (at 869 millimeters or 849 millimeters), superb load-carrying capability and containing a raft of components — is like a badge of honor for hardcore explorers. However, the classy gray spreads across the bodywork, chiseled to prioritize agile handling, front-end confidence, comfort and protection, and it houses the 23-liter three-part tank with superlative fuel range. The tone is as fetching for a swift dash into the office as it would be for a blast across country borders.

Roaming roads everywhere and anywhere with the 2023 KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is now a lot easier thanks to augmented navigation software. KTM already made the 7-inch TFT display a cinch for customization due to the infographics and menu system that gave the rider full control over the RIDE MODES, advanced WP semi-active suspension, anti-lock brake (ABS) settings and adaptive cruise control. The combination of intuitive handlebar switches and access to the technical possibilities of the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S was a major calling card for one of the company’s flagship models. For 2023, KTM aimed for more utility. Adventurers can count on extra options with their navigation plotting. The KTMConnect App now boasts Turn-by-Turn+ guidance and waypoints markers while on the go and without having to stop and adjust any mobile device. The same functionality also extends to audio tracks and listing “Favorites” when it comes to phone calls. Hands on the grips not only means gobbling more mileage but safe and more enjoyable interaction with the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S.

Let’s remind ourselves why the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is the ultimate high-performance Adventure bike. The V-twin LC8 rumbles to 160 horsepower and 138 newton meters of torque, and the devastating spectrum of power allows the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S to glide on cruise, dip through traffic or devour highways with glee. The compact heart of the bike is carefully regulated by one of KTM’s most advanced electronic management architectures: It administers the suspension configuration and reaction, ride height, ABS, ride modes, tire pressure management, anti-dive and more. The unit fits inside a light, 10-kilogram, chromium-molybdenum stainless steel frame honed for handling the short blasts and mountain passes as well as the long haul. The rest of the package befits a premium motorcycle for traveling: the LED lights, reengineered windscreen and adjuster, multi-part saddle and light aluminum side-stand. The list and the specs have already been met with wide acclaim. The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S can be elevated even further with optional electronic packs, a Quickshifter+ and WP Suspension Pro, amongst other upgrades.

Although a rider might be wishing to reach one, no KTM model is an island. The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S revels in a wide raft of specially made add-ons and accessories in the KTM PowerParts collection. From extra protective parts, aesthetic touches through detailing, performance enhancements or travel items like luggage, racks and bags, the KTM PowerParts are as enticing as it is well-equipped.
