Trying to keep a car like the Ford Mustang true to its roots, yet up to date, is tricky business. Traditionalists love the Mustang in its purest form — a big, throaty muscle car with a powerful V8 and a manual transmission. Yet the average owner wants better handling, greater fuel efficiency, and style that wouldn’t look out of place in American Graffiti.

That’s the problem Ford was looking at when it came time to update the Mustang for its sixth generation. Ford even wanted to sell the distinctly American car in Europe, so it was clear the Mustang needed drastic changes.

To that end, the 2015 Ford Mustang had a style that looked towards the future, instead of the past, with an independent rear suspension, and Ford’s turbo ecoboost four-cylinder. The changes riled up those who wanted the Mustang untouched by such things. Yet the changes were successful, and with its 2018 refresh, the thoroughly modern Mustang is in even better shape to contend with rivals.

The 2018 Ford Mustang is an updated version of the current-generation car. Along with some style tweaks to update the exterior, the traditional instrument panel goes fully digital, which will compliment new menu options. Solid upgrades can be found throughout the drivetrain, and an optional active suspension helps drivers keep control.

A 5.0-liter V8 and a 2.3-liter ecoboost power plant are still on offer, but the naturally aspirated V6 has been put out to pasture. The V8 has been reworked to produce 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Its engine speed has been increased as well, and can reach 7,500 rpms. It’s an output that goes to bat against the Chevrolet Camaro’s 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 455 hp, and the Dodge Challenger’s 6.4-liter V8, which belches out 485 hp. Both the Mustang’s mills can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or an all-new 10-speed automatic.

Gone are the analog gauges that previously flanked an info screen in the dashboard cluster, replaced by fully digital gauges on either end of the 12-inch LCD screen. The instrument panel displays directions when the navigation is on, allows access to a multitude of menus, and changes graphically depending what mode is being used.

Once you configure a profile, it’s easily saved with just the press of a button. The Camaro and Challenger also offer driving modes, and LCD screens in their gauge clusters, but the Mustang is first to go all-digital.

The digital gauges are an upgrade, for sure –but apart from fun animations, such as displaying the revs across the topmost part of the screen in the performance modes, we didn’t think Ford took advantage of the screen’s potential. While directions appeared during navigated routes, it would’ve been nice to have the option to switch to a map while a passenger fiddled with audio settings. Compare this to Audi’s virtual cockpit, which sets a high bar for all digital control panel capability. It may seem unusual to compare any aspect of this car to an Audi, but its unavoidable, as the German automaker’s tech shows how dynamic digital gauges can be.

“Track apps” return, and are again accessed through the instrument panel. The tire-smoking line lock, and rev-holding launch control, are now joined by a drag strip mode exclusive to those who opt for the 10-speed automatic. It’s similar to launch control in the manual car, but using the loaded autobox to deliver the optimal sprint off the line. Any mention of “drag strip” mode immediately draws comparisons to what the Dodge Challenger Demon wields, but the Mustang needs to double its horsepower before that’ll happen. We’ll revisit that when the new 1,000-hp Shelby becomes available.

The 2015 Mustang finally moved from a live rear axle to a far more modern independent rear suspension setup. It addressed both appeal to a European market, which demands agility, and the fact that the Chevrolet Camaro had this from the start of its reintroduction.

The new suspension helps, but does not a sports car make. Pulling through windy Malibu canyon roads put the Mustang’s footwork to the test, and there’s certainly a level of confidence that wasn’t there before the 2014 refresh. Yet a certain weight is still present, particularly in the V8 Mustang. It’s still a muscle car. It may have learned to two-step, but it’s not going to be a stunner on the dance floor.

When put to the switchbacks we drove the Mustang on during our brief stint, we had no such qualms. The pony car swapped gears smoothly, and we never felt a level uncertain of its next move. The car allowed us to stay in gears for as long as we needed before deciding to shift out, and it gave us the confidence to worry less about the gearbox, and focus more on the road ahead. More might not necessarily be better in this case — but for the record, the automatics on the Camaro and Challenger only go up to eight gears.

The price for a bare-bones Mustang GT starts at $35,095, and only goes up from there. Compared to the prices of entry for a comparably equipped Camaro ($37,995 for the 1 SS) and the Dodge Challenger ( $38,995 for the R/T Scat Pack), it seems a solid value.

Brand loyalty plays a huge part for fans choosing between muscle cars. Still, we think if you were given the keys to a Mustang for the weekend and directed to some thoroughly twisty roads, you wouldn’t be able to contain your excitement. The 2018 model is fast, reasonably balanced, and has a futuristic cockpit that edges out its peers.

Since what feels like the beginning of time, the Ford Mustang has been an American icon. The 2018 Ford Mustang arrived and enthusiasts couldn’t wait to drive it. After all, the modern Mustang is believed to have “unparalleled performance.” It didn’t take long for owners to realize that this model was a lemon. From the faulty electrical system to the defective engine and malfunctioning powertrain, this vehicle is dangerous to drive.

One such example can be found with this Edmunds review. “My LCD panel on my 2018 Mustang GT went out in February. Purchased my vehicle in December.Ford told me part is on backorder and will not be available until April. I was given Ford Edge as my loaner – go figure. asked if I could get comparable Mustang GT while it will take two months to get my brand new GT back and was told they couldn’t do this. I have escalated to Ford Executive Offices because this just isn’t right. I’m a first time Ford owner of this vehicle and needless to say this will be the last time I purchase a Ford. I am so unhappy with all that has transpired.”

In conjunction with this faulty display system, there is a recall that owners might not be aware of. NHTSA Campaign Number 17V81400 states that when the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster isn’t properly illuminating the PRNDL gear position, that it is possible for owners to turn off the car and get out of it without it being in Park. Because of this situation, the Mustang can just roll away at will. In this situation, it’s clear that Ford was right to label this model “unparalleled,” but only because it’s a massive failure.

While the car must have a functioning electrical system, this means nothing without a strong engine. This Mustang model failed on the motor front as well.

One Edmunds user said, “With under 2,000 miles the engine blew. When I got it back the transmission started to give me problems as well as the car had various interior rattles. With under 3,000 miles that piece of garbage had more problems than a 200,000 mile Toyota. Ford was AWFUL during the experience. I urge you as a consumer to research it yourself and you’ll find this isn’t unique to the Mustang. It is prevalent throughout Fords entire lineup and their customer service failures are as common as their vehicles dependability issues.”

Again, there is another recall issued that showcases the lack of integrity of this model. NHTSA Campaign Number 18E035000 says that Roush Performance aftermarket supercharger kits often installed on the Mustang might have hose barb fittings that can damage the fuel lines and cause a leak. With the evidence of a leak, it’s possible for the vehicle to also start on fire. It’s not typical for aftermarket parts to cause a vehicle recall, but this was dangerous enough to warrant the action. From what is illustrated thus far, it’s clear that the Mustang is simply attempting to destroy itself; either by rolling away or spontaneously starting on fire.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone to know that there is a recall for the powertrain components as well. NHTSA Campaign Number 18V213000 states that a missing roll pin can cause owners to believe the car is in Park when in fact it isn’t. Again, this problem leads to the Mustang simply rolling away. If the Ford Mustang offers such unparalleled performance, why does it continue to pull a disappearing act on customers? They just don’t make them like they once did, and the Mustang is the perfect example.

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated that his son parked the vehicle and set the parking brake and exited the vehicle; however, the rolled away and crashed into a tree. The contact stated that after the failure, he researched online and found a recall for rollaway failures however, the vehicle was not manufactured in the date range of the recalled vehicles. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 18v213000 (power train) as the possible cause of the failure. The contact spoke with the local dealer and was made aware that the manufacturer was very rigid when it came to vehicles that were not included in a recall even if the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The contact was also informed that the manufacturer would not help if the vin was not included in the recall. As a result, the rear bumper was dented, and the contact was unsure if the panel under the trunk was cracked. The contact stated that his son remembered shifting the vehicle into park and applying the parking brake. The contact stated that he heard a chime before exiting the vehicle but had not checked to identify the source of the sound. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. A police report was not filed. The contact had assistance with placing the vehicle back into the initial parking space. The dealer was notified, and the contact was advised to schedule an appointment for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vin was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

DescriptionMy 2018 ford mustang with automatic transmisson recently(sept) started having issues with the gear shift being placed in park, but the instrument panel is not illuminated in park. If driver door is open, and keys removed, the chime may or may not sound. Research is showing same issue being reported and recalls were done due to missing roll pin that attaches the park pawl rod guide cup to the transmission case, and unseated transmission gear shift cable clip. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. The recalls only covered vehicles manufactured at a certain plant. However, my vin # is not included in recalls. Due to safety concerns that my vehicle may lose park function and roll away, causing damage/harm to others, I feel it should be included in the recall programs and repaired at no cost to me. I have not taken vehicle to dealership at this point, as they will charge me 0 diagnostic fee.

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the reverse lock out collar failed to operate as needed. Due to the failure, the contact was able to freely shift the vehicle into reverse while driving. The contact practiced extreme precaution while driving to prevent the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a customer satisfaction program had been placed on similar vehicles for the failure; however, his vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the nhtsa hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

Descriptionseptember 9, 2022 at 4:45 p. M. Cst. Less than 300 yards from merging onto the interstate, my children and I heard an extremely weird noise coming from the passenger side of my car, so I immediately pulled over. My daughter and I both looked at each other and asked, “what is that?” I told my daughter I knew I did not have a flat, however I felt like there was something wrong with my tire. We exited my car and found that my passenger side front tire had wire showing and was tearing/ripping at the “belt”. This occurred on/near the inner sidewall. I drive a 2018 mustang gt, and had this occurred while traveling at 75mph on the interstate, it is likely it would have ended badly. It is likely that I would have lost control of my car and I could have possibly totaled my car, rolled/flipped it and it could have taken the lives of myself or my two children who were with me. I have found multiple other complaints regarding the same issue that I just experience at the following link: https://continentaltire. Custhelp. Com/app/social/questions/detail/qid/65/~/extreme-contact%2c-unacceptable-tread-wear based upon those reviews and what I experienced today, this seems to be a manufacturer defect, which should not only be addressed and recalled but be replaced free of cost. Once I found the problem, I put my spare on, drove home and removed both front tires and put two of my stock wheels and tires on the front. Upon inspecting the driver side front tire after removal, I found that it too had the same issue happening in the exact location of the passenger side. Had this not occurred I would not be aware of the driver side doing the same thing. I absolutely do not think this was a coincidence or any mechanical issue, as the driver side is doing the exact same thing, in the exact same location and around the exact same letters as the passenger side. No warning lights were on.

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 19v076000 (electrical system) however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and it was confirmed that the vehicle was already repaired under the recall. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be repaired out-of-pocket. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 58,000.

DescriptionAir conditioning evaporator leak, appears to be a design flaw as there are many reported failures of the evaporator as well as failures with replacement after the repair is complete. Ford mustangs appear to be plagued with ac related issues and various tsbs have been issued due to these issues tsb: 18-2255 18-2166 ssm 47967 ssm 48135 ssm-45815 ssm 47850 ssm 47012 ssm 47149

DescriptionMy engine started knocking/ticking at around 6,000 miles, shortly after my first oil change. I was aware of the knocking issies, thanks to numerous youtube videos, before I even recieved my special order mustang so I made sure to use the same oil and filter that originally came with my car. Now the car has 18,500 miles on it, the knocking/ticking is getting worse and worse every year and ford is calling the problem "normal" and refuses to do any repairs. The car has now been unsuccessfully serviced 3 times and should now be placed under the lemon law.

DescriptionThis issue is when a haze develops on the inside of the windshield in the line of sight of the forward facing camera that detects vehicles, objects, traffic lanes and rain sensing. Since this area of the windshield is enclosed, there is no way to clean it. This is not condensation but dust particles that adhere to the glass, possibly from ac or heat that flows along the windshield and also it possibly enhanced in humid climates. When the issue occurs, the dash warning will appear stating, "front camera low visibility clean screen" and the outside windshield is definitely not dirty. I"ve taken this to my local ford dealership and they claim they have no way to address the problem and suggested I take it to a windshield replacement shop, such as safelite, they also said it is not covered under any ford warranty. I find this odd, since it is a potential design defect with the vehicle. This is a random occurrence and because of the warning, I fear it diminishes the accuracy of everything the front sensor detects and could be potentially dangerous. I"ve found several postings in vehicle forums online with the same issue but nothing about ford or anyone resolving it, so this is not an isolated issue. Here is one posting in a forum showing the warning as well as images of the camera/windshield area that is the issue. Https://www. Mustang6g. Com/forums/threads/front-camera-haze. 156882/ this is exactly what I"m experiencing. Also, doing a google search for the above warning message will bring up several other postings in forums about the issue with various ford vehicle models with the same front camera design. Thank you for looking into this.

DescriptionDriving at highway speeds, the passenger door suddenly unlatched and "door adjar" notification warning was displayed. Had to exit the highway in order to close and secure door. I have previously reported this same issue, to nhtsa several times before. I have video of the incident.

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated when he had parked his vehicle at his residence driveway and returned later, the vehicle had rolled forward 200 feet into a neighboring parking lot. The vehicle had been stopped by a parking block causing damage to the driver"s side rear fender. Additionally, there was damage to the front-end undercarriage due to climbing over the parking blocks. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the check transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 18v213000 (power train). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,198.

Description1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The electronic, all digital dashboard went completely black for about 25 seconds while I was driving down the interstate, in traffic at night, 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the instrument panel went blank, I was not able to see any information that is normally displayed, such as speed, amount of fuel, etc. Nothing. This glitch took my attention away from the interstate and traffic. It frightened me terribly. I could have easily had an accident as I tried to figue out the issue in the dark. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The is unknown to me. However, if you simply google, "dashboard goes blank in ford 2018 mustang", you will find many, many other mustang owners stating incidents of the exact same black out happening to their instrument panel when driving their cars. From what I read, this issue is not limited to the 2018 model year of this vehicle. This is a known problem to ford, yet they seem unwilling to remedy the problem. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? This question is unknown to me 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. While driving at 70 miles per hour on the interstate in traffic, at night, the instrument panel simply went black. It is totally digital, so I had no access to any information regarding my speed, amount of gasoline remaining in the vehicle, or anything else that is customarily displayed by a vehicle"s instrument panel. I purchased the vehicle, used, on january 22, 2022. Please make ford recall allmustangs, regardless of model year, with this know issue before some is killed!

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph and accelerating, the vehicle started jerking. The contact stated while shifting gears the service tire mobility kit warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to several dealers to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

DescriptionThe accessory protocol interface module failed. All functions of the camera, radio and entire middle display console do not work. When backing up to exit parking space or to back into a parking space I can"t see what is behind me and have almost hit items multiple times. The dealer inspected and told me what the issue is; that it is not under warranty and would cost approximately 00 to repair, which I don"t have. There was no forewarning of this module failure; it occurred suddenly and without warning.

Description2018 with 24,000 miles (purchased brand new) every morning until the car warms up I dont have navigation, radio, bluetooth, or back up camera"s. I was told this was a common problem with ford from the dealership but its not a recall. After researching online, its a very common problem with all makes and models of ford. Of course I"m out of warranty to replace the apim which is going to cost 1,000 out of pocket. Safety concerns: I have to navigate using my phone which is a distraction while driving, same thing with phone conversation I can be hand free, and I have a major blind spot while backing up because of no camera.

DescriptionThe contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster remained blank. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle several times however, the instrument cluster remained blank. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his own expense. The manufacturer advised the dealer and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v076000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,500.

DescriptionTl* the contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the driver"s side front door opened unexpectedly. The contact stated the door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to planet ford (20403 I-45, spring, tx 77388, (281) 719-3700) where it was diagnosed with needing an unknown spring in the front driver"s side door to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

DescriptionI was in an accident two different times in a mustang and the most of my injury was to my left leg from the air bag. I am still limping from it. It caused massive bruises and a fracture to more than one area of my left leg. On the driver side. Both accidents was on a city street. Going 35 miles an hour.

DescriptionForward collision avoidance, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, driver notification and auto high beam control stopped working on 2018 ford mustang. Car currently in shop having image processing module recalibrated for 32. 22. This is a known issue for other mustangs as indicated by recall 20s26. Ford claims my car is not included in this recall even though it appears to be for the same, known issue. The system alerts me this is not working as soon as the car is started via message on dash and several beeps.

DescriptionThe infotainment system (sync 3 w/ carplay) that came stock with my 2018 mustang ecoboost recently stopped working. The car has 42k miles on it and is just over 2 years old. Sync 3 started to randomly lag (20-60 sec lag per button press), buttons became unresponsive (press not recognized at all), showed incorrect gps locations while using carplay (plugged in) with multiple map services, backup cam issues, and would cause bluetooth to disconnect randomly. I logged a complaint with my local dealership and brought it in for a diagnostic test. The dealership stated that the apim component needed replacement. The dealership noted this is common and plagues other models with the same apim. A quick google search verified this. My main concern is this: while using this system it can create many distractions while driving if the system is not responding as expected. Even the steering wheel buttons have a lag to them. One such scenario that caused great issue was adjusting the climate control during colder months when the windows/windshield fog up. When this happens, you can"t see while driving. Typically, I can react quickly to get rid of the fog, but since this component is defective, the system did not respond and the fog had to be manually removed. Additionally, this component should not have to be replaced within 2yr of purchase of the car, since it is a computer. Ford offered to replace the apim component, for 00 (warranty expired at time of diagnostic test). What is even more ridiculous is that they want to replace it with the exact same model number, which tells me in another 2yr I may have the same issue. This issue started up while I was in warranty (~30k mi), but seemingly went away until recently when the system has become practically unusable. Ford (corporate) also cannot provide any rationale as to why this is happening, per their customer service rep.

DescriptionThe passenger side door comes open at low or high rate of speed. The driver side door does the same thing. My mustang is a convertible so when the doors come open or ajared it is very frightening. This happens on the interstate or in the country or in the city. It is very dangerous situation. This happens at all speeds.

Description2018 mustang gt 6 speed performance pack, tires rubbing on inner wheel wells causing wires to show on inside of tire, few months ago took car it to dealership said nothing was wrong but there is holes rubbed into my wheel wells, also had a clutch issue and noise at same time and they said nothing was wrong again, took car back and a week ago had a clutch and trans problem come about, have to forcefully push shifter into a gear for it to go in, with the clutch fully pressed I can put the car in gear and it will attempt to take off, without releasing the clutch, I cannot get the car into 6th 5th, 2nd and reverse. 1st,3rd,4th gears are hard to get in but will go forcefully. With car off I cannot go in many of the gears either. When this last part happend I was driving and went to go into 3rd and it wouldn"t go in so I decided to try 4th and it had the same problem as before, car seem to shake while driving also

DescriptionI was injured in an accident on 8/22/20 while driving my 2018 mustang gt. The side air bags did not deploy... Even the insurance adjuster and collision shop are wondering why. My car was totaled... I do not believe the airbag system worked as intended. I was hit on the driver side while traveling approx 30mph, the driver that hit me stated to police that he was going 45mph.

DescriptionTl* the contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact was unable to manually shift into third or fourth gear on a manual transmission. The vehicle was taken to town & country ford located at 6015 preston hwy, louisville, ky 40219, where the vehicle was kept for 31 days for repairs. The contact stated that when the vehicle was returned, the failure recurred and was much worse. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the technician stated that there was no additional assistance that could be provided; stating that the repairs were performed per the manufacturer"s specifications. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

DescriptionWhile driving my mustang on the interstate, the power steering failed making the car extremely unstable. It took tremendous effort to steer the car safely to the side of the road.

DescriptionI bought my ford mustang on june 2018. When the miles hit 30,000, the engine shakes every time my vehicle starts, and my whole car shakes noticeably when idling. The exhaust gas flow from the car has obvious intermittent, meanwhile, the exhaust pipe shakes a lot, and you can clearly hear the "burst" sound or thump. In addition, my whole car has obvious jitters at low speeds of more than 2,000, and the acceleration is weak. When the speed is high you can feel a little less jittery. It is not jittery under normal operating conditions of the engine. When my auto is on d or r, it doesn"t move after I release the brake. Plus, the variable box occasionally makes a strange noise and vehicle coolant does not working properly. What scares me the most is that one time I was driving on l-595 high way, my vehicle shut down automatically, I tried to restart it but failed, I was panic, I had to wait for more than 10 minutes on the high speed road to try to restart the car again. Luckily I pulled my car in the emergency lane, I can"t image if it wasn"t. After all those, I went to my dealer at plantation fl, they can fix for me since my car is still under coverage but I don"t want get it repaired. I deeply doubt whether the repair would completely fix those issues. Please help and advice if I can get my car recalled? I was looking for a car that I always wanted but not hanging by a thread.

DescriptionWhile driving the 12" led instrument panel has gone dark for several seconds. This panels shows speed, tach, fuel gauge, temp, oil pressure, I found a recall for similar issue on the 2019 mustang and other ford autos. This may be just showing up on the 2018 mustang.

DescriptionTl* the contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. While driving various speeds, the instrument panel indicators seized for approximately thirty seconds without warning. Phil long ford at chapel hills (1565 auto mall loop, colorado springs, co 80920, (844) 234-1769) was contacted and scheduled a diagnostic appointment. The failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,200.

DescriptionTl* the contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. While the vehicle was coming to a stop with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle shook violently and stalled. The contact had to shift into park and turn off the vehicle. When the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. The contact called three dealers: landmark ford (located at 12000 sw 66th avenue, tigard, or 97223, 503-639-1131), dick"s mackenzie ford (located at 4151 se tualatin valley hwy, hillsboro, or 97123, 844-424-8102), and skyline ford (located at 2510 commercial st se, salem, or 97302, 503-581-2411). None of the dealers could diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: cas24128956. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.

DescriptionAt 60mph on the freeway, my 2018 mustang gt with 2,000 miles on it blew the engine. Massive amounts of smoke were pouring out the exhaust pipes and from under the hood and the vehicle was violently shaking and sounder like a tin can full of nuts and bolts. Got the car to the shoulder but my wife and I were scared to death as cars were whizzing by just inches away. According to online chat rooms a number of these engines are experiencing similar failures. A bad batch was produced and ford should have recalled them. I asked ford to replace the car with a factory intact vehicle and they denied the request. They say all that is required of them is to fix the issue. I bought the car as a collectors item and this takes away all value as a collectors car. I offered to split the cost of getting a new one and they said no. I have suffered monetary damage on the value. It"s a dangerous situation having these engines blow up. I feel fortunate to have made it through the ordeal on the freeway and its aftermath. The back wheels could easily have locked up and that would have been catastrophic. *js

DescriptionPurchased a 2018 ford mustang sport edition and twice now once at about 15,000 miles and again at 20,000 miles, I lose half my power and the orange wrench light comes on. Ford has had my car for 4 days and does not know the cause of the problem.

DescriptionCar has a loud ticking sound once warmed up and at idle. Also occurs when rpms are between 1500-2000. Dealer told me it"s the new direct fuel injection system. Research online shows many other mustang gt owners having the same problems and found evidence of piston slap and scoring. Dealership won"t take initiative to fix or diagnose this problem. Problem also showing up on 2019 models. Ford keeps deflecting their responsibility to address this issue and dealerships will not stand behind their customers and help them. Please help bring ford to take responsibility for this problem and fix the issue.

DescriptionI am the owner of the vehicle ford mustang 2018 purchased in the car dealer "autos vega de pr" where to verify it after the purchase I percome that it does not bring the accessories of, replacement tires, hydraulic cat and nut keys. The seller was asked about where he answered that they do not already bring that accessory because I have free assistance on the road. Before this answer I would like to know if this determination of the manufacturer "ford company" is in law since I understand that the lack of such accessories exposed the vehicle"s owner to a hazard on the road as it can not resolve some percent quickly and depend on a service that I can not obtain unless I have a telephone available at the moment and that works in the area where I can not accept that situation which I think is dangerous to the driver. I therefore want to establish, to be feasible, a complaint about it. Please report if I have any tool for this situation that can help me to be correct my approach.

DescriptionWhen putting my car into park and drive it doesnt want to switch, it takes a while for it to get into drive. I almost hit someone in front of me because when I put my car into drive, I pressed the gas lightly and the car didnt move. Until about 6 seconds then flew forward. Also when getting around the 10 mph speed limit, the car jerks as if the transmission isnt properly changing gears. I only have 10,000 miles I bought the car in october 2018 and first owner.

DescriptionWhen getting up to speed on an on ramp or passing on a two la e road, when shifting into third gear, the transmission will not go into gear. I"ve had this happen twice, once my daughter was with me on a two lane road, going from second to third while passing, the car will not allow it. People have noted this many places while running out second gear and shifting into third in multi situations. This is a hazard and it is known due to the shifter not being direct and using a remote linkage. An aftermarket bracket and shifter will fix this issue, however this vehicle should operate safely without purchasing aftermarket equipment. Simple look up missed shifts with mt-82 mustang transmission. You will see many with the same issue and aftermarket parts to fix this safety hazard.

DescriptionI have the 2018 mustang ecoboost with the 10 speed auto transmission. When changing gears to reverse or drive the car slams into gear and jumps hard a co-worker has the same make and is having the same problems please look into this

DescriptionMy check engine light came on while on cruise control on the interstate going 80mph on a 75 and a few seconds after the check engine light came on , the car shut off and locked up and caused me to lose control. Car was taken to a dealership , and the entire bottom end was torn apart and a few engine components were replaced. After receiving the vehicle back from the dealership the vehicle continues to have electrical and engine problems. The car will at random times shut off while driving , main times is the freeway. Second issue is the car has loud knocking to the engine , sounds like a lifted knock , the car was taken to a dealership, and my car was next to a same year mustang to compare sound and mine was definitely knocking compared to the other mustang. Third issue is there is a constant squealing sound like a lose belt coming from the back side of the engine (this recently started) and the fourth issue is when I"m coming down to a stop or slowing down even without touching the breaks there is a metal clinging sound that doesn"t stop until the car comes to a complete stop. The car only has 17k miles and is never abused , and has always been properly maintained.

DescriptionPurchased a brand new 2018 ford mustang ecoboost premium 10-speed with performance package july 21, 2018 with 9 miles. Took car to the dealership november 2018 at 2,600 miles with a popping feeling and sound as well as an unsafe loose feeling in the rear end. This happened any time driving over uneven surfaces, turning curves and accelerating. They replaced the shock absorber after the car was in the shop 11 days. In january 2019 I took the car back to the dealership with 3,893 miles. The car was still making a grinding, popping sound in the rear end as well as the front end. The car also still felt loose as if was going to lock up while driving. The popping, grinding happened when pulling out of a driveway or parking space as well as sharp turning of the wheels. The loose feeling was going around curves, left or right turning from a stop light as well as accelerating from a stop. The car also felt as though it was not shifting properly. The dealership replaced the fluid in the rear end and after 8 days they said the rear differential needed to be replaced. It has since been 8 more days in the shop with no word. I feel this car is unsafe as it is such a new car, has been babied from the first day purchased. The fact that it has been in the shop twice almost 30 days of its life, under 4,000 miles and having the rear differential replaced shows there is something seriously wrong with this car. All this being reported to carfax has drastically reduced the value of my car since it does not report it as factory defect but rather possible abuse. I do not know if this is just my car or a safety issue from the factory. I asked the service manager if it was possible for the car to lock up on the highway and he confirmed it was definitely a possibility. At this point I am afraid to drive this car not knowing what else could go wrong with it.

DescriptionI purchased a new 2018 ford mustang 2 dr 4 cyl ecoboost on july 9th 2018. On august 15, after having dinner with parents at the house, I went to visit some friends in davie and it was aprox 7:45 pm while driving on a 4 lane road divided by a median. Road has frequent speedbumps and the median has mature trees. While traveling on this road - I felt nauseous and placed both hands on the steering wheel and suddenly the road became blurry and I lost conciousness and struck a tree in the median. The car caught on fire and according to a police officer, he tried to revive me and to help me get out, however my legs were broken and injured. My right leg was broken and my left leg was badly injured. I was wearing a high boot on the left foot and no boot on the right foot in order to be able to drive comfortably. Seconds after the police officer removed me from the car, the car exploded. I believe that I was sold a defective car that leaked poisenous gases which caused me to pass out and crash I to a tree. Had it not been for the police officer, I would have died trapped in the burning car.

DescriptionTl* the contact owns a 2018 ford mustang. While the vehicle was unoccupied and parked in the driveway, it rolled away. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 4,700.

Description2018 mustang gt with manual transmission. Engine stalls when shifting into neutral (manual trans) at higher engine speeds. For example, coming up to a red light (was traveling approx 50mph) or while exiting the freeway (was traveling 65mph and then was turning around an off-ramp). Has occured at any driving speed (if revving engine at full stop, or while traveling). Stalling does not occur if the transmission remains engaged while slowing down. If I shift to neutral when the engine is near it"s normal idle speed (500 rpm after warm-up), it will not stall. The problem only occurs when shifting to neutral above ~2,000 rpm, and only after the engine is warmed up. The problem was present from the time the vehicle was brand new. At 1500 miles I returned to the dealer and was able to successfully reproduce the issue together with the service advisor. In some instances, the engine speed will drop below idle speed and then will recover and not stall. I made a recording of the can bus to try to diagnose the issue on my own, which is available upon request. It seems that the engine controller is requesting more torque from the engine when the speed drops, but the throttle will not respond to the request and the engine will stall. No dtcs or warning lights were given to indicate that there was an issue. No modifications were made to the car, and is in completely "stock" condition.

Description2018 mustang gt brand new less than 300 miles. During the course of driving one morning the car engine shut off 7 times while the car was being driven. Brought the car back to the dealer who was able to recreate the condition and subsequently determined that the problem was a defective throttle and it needs to be replaced. Was told by the dealer that ford has a backlog and would take three weeks to get the part and the car fixed.View More
