ibuypower lcd screen case pricelist
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, system builder iBuyPower is making its Snowblind S and Snowblind Element cases available as standalone products. These cases are unique in that they each feature a transparent LCD panel.
iBuyPower launched its Snowblind series nearly three years ago. At the time and up until now, however, these cases have only been available as part of a prebuilt system, with prices starting at $1,499.
"By offering one of the most iconic cases in the market as a standalone product when the Snowblind has traditionally only been available as a prebuilt system, we are broadening our horizons within the PC and gaming industry while we celebrate 20 years of successful business," iBuyPower says.
The Snowblind Element is based on NZXT"s S340 case, while the Snowblind S is iBuyPower"s own custom design. Both feature a 19-inch transparent TN display, the former with a 1024x1280 resolution and the later with a 1280x1024 resolution. The numbers are swapped because the side panel on the Snowblind Element is taller than it is wide, while the window on the Snowblind S is wider than it is tall.
These configurable screens splash custom images, video wallpapers, and other graphics effects, such as real-time temps. iBuyPower offers some images to get users started, and notes that the free Rainmeter application can be used to create custom designs.
Both cases come in a white color scheme, with three white LED illuminated fans included. Pricing is not cheap, though. The Snowblind Element is available now for $299.99 from Amazon(opens in new tab), Newegg(opens in new tab), and iBuyPower(opens in new tab), while the Snowblind S will be available soon for $249.
There"s also a third option with an LCD screen, the Snowblind Noctis N450. As the name implies, this one is based on NZXT"s Noctis 450. It"s available now for $349(opens in new tab).
LCD Spec: 19” transparent TN LCD side panel display with 1280 x 1024 resolution enabling the complete customization of the side panel. Users can configure the digital display to feature video wallpaper, images, or system temperatures in real-time
Formerly only available with the purchase of a complete system, the iBUYPOWER Snowblind mid-tower ATX case is now available as a stand alone product. A unique translucent side-panel LCD display that allows virtually limitless customization can also help you to avoid spending money on RGB-lit fans, stickers, etching, custom paint jobs, or color matched components by instead simulating those features on its built-in display.
Though the Snowblind isn"t currently on our list of best PC cases, it is a really cool product that, both literally and figuratively, that should be on your shortlist.
Constructed of steel, plastic and tempered glass, the iBUYPOWER Snowblind is painted white inside and out apart from black accents on the tempered glass panels. Measuring 18.7 x 8.26 x 17.2 inches (475 x 203 x 437 mm) and tipping the scales at just under 15 lbs (12.3 kg), this $300 (£300) chassis comes with a two-year limited warranty.
The tempered glass front is mounted to a plastic frame that sits roughly one inch from the chassis. Three of the case’s fans are mounted behind the front panel. The rear panel is made of stamped steel and is secured in place with metal thumb screws.
The Snowblind"s signature feature is a 1024 x 1280 19 inch see-through LCD side panel. This panel can be used to display images, animated GIFs, YouTube videos, music players, animated wallpapers, movies or any combination thereof. The side panel is essentially a secondary display. Anything you can do on a regular monitor, you can do on the Snowblind"s translucent side panel.
In the opening of this review we said that, although the case is expensive, it can actually save you money in the long run. How? The see-through LCD side panel allows you to customize the color scheme of your system components without buying RGB-lit fans or lighting strips. There is no need to color match components, because you can use any photo editing software (Paint / Photoshop) to change the color of all of your hardware just as you would add lighting effects.
Want to add flashy lights and animations to your CPU, GPU and memory? In less than five minutes I was able to make an animated GIF in Photoshop and apply it as a background. iBuyPower recommends overlays and wallpaper programs such as Rainmeter and Wallpaper Engine but any program that can display images and videos can be used on this display. For instance, we used Windows Media Player to watch movies and MS Photos to display images and animated gifs.
The bottom of the case is equipped with a filtered hole for power supply ventilation. The four rubber-coated feet keep the case approximately three quarters of an inch off the floor to facilitate air intake to the PSU.
That"s the selling point of the iBuyPower Snowblind (from $1,679; $2,399 as tested), which features a unique translucent side panel that you can customize with cool wallpapers, useful PC monitoring tools or anything else you can think of slapping on the side of the desktop.
The iBuyPower Snowblind"s white-and-black case looks pretty unassuming — until you realize that the entire left side of the PC is its own display. That"s right: This desktop"s translucent side panel is a fully functioning 1280 x 1024 LCD screen, which you can use to show off cool animated wallpapers, keep tabs on your PC"s temperature and performance, or do whatever the heck else you feel like doing on a giant, see-through display.
I first tested out the Snowblind"s LCD screen by activating a few animated wallpapers using the system"s included Wallpaper Engine software, and was completely mesmerized. Sure, there"s nothing really practical about having a big, animated sports car, solar system or spaceship on the side of your PC, but I"ll be damned if it doesn"t look cool.

You could, theoretically, play games on the Snowblind"s LCD display, but it"s probably not the best idea. Although I could technically run and shoot my way through Rise of the Tomb Raider on the side panel, it was hard to focus on enemies when I had a huge, glowing GeForce GTX logo obstructing the action from within the PC.
The same goes for watching YouTube videos or Twitch streams — but if you want to use the LCD screen as a separate monitor for Twitch chat, you could make it work as long as you have the window set against the white parts of the PC. Ultimately, the Snowblind"s LCD panel is best suited for smaller applications such as temperature and CPU monitoring, or just for making the PC look cool with colorful wallpapers.
The iBuyPower Snowblind edged out the Alienware Aurora on the Rise of the Tomb Raider Benchmark, rendering Lara Croft at a swift 93.6 frames per second.
iBuyPower"s PC scored an impressive 6,709 on the 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra benchmark (which gauges 4K performance), just about tying the Aurora (6,763) and beating both the Legion Y920 (4,997) and our 5,997 average by a solid margin.
All configurations offer a variety of customization options, including two case options (the boxy Element and the curvy N450), LED fans (starting at $29), and a ton of additional CPU, RAM, storage and GPU choices.
The iBuyPower Snowblind is a one-of-a-kind gaming PC whose unique LCD side panel absolutely dazzles — and offers some practical uses, too. It"s an excellent centerpiece for any showy gaming den, especially because its arresting looks are backed up by some very good Core i7, GTX 1080 gaming performance at a reasonable price.
If you"re looking for more configuration options within a still-striking design, you might want to consider the Alienware Aurora, which starts at a cheaper $949 and offers all kinds of custom lighting options. And if you need something bigger and even bolder, take a look at the MSI Infinite (starting at $1,599; $1,799 as tested), which offers a gigantic, LED-laden chassis. But if you"re seeking a desktop whose aesthetic bells and whistles are limited only by your imagination, there"s nothing quite like the iBuyPower Snowblind.
Okay so for starters the quality of material in this is actually really nice it"s fully battle and the level of detail and just slight modifications that they have done to it just make it pretty easy to guide cables and stuff however you want, it is also a big case so if you have a somewhat smaller computer like mine and then you"re going to only take up about like half of the PC case but it"s also nice cuz you can fit just about any component in there. Now I do have to say mounting fans especially water cooled ones is going to be pretty difficult so it doesn"t have any top mounting nor right hand side mounting for anything the only mounting you have for fans is near the rear IO and the two fan areas in the back of the case. But like I said the quality put into this case is phenomenal it even has mesh guards on every single one of the fan outlets including the bottom one for the power supply. One thing I was kind a little disappointed by it was the fact that the display is made out of acrylic they say it"s made out of tempered glass but it feels like acrylic to me I could be wrong though and the fact that if you don"t have light-ish components it"s going to be pretty difficult to see the stuff on the screen. Speaking of the screen this is definitely the best part about it a lot of people say it"s just a gimmick but I find it incredibly useful especially when I"m playing video games and I can"t just click out of all of my stuff for whatever just to see how my hardware is doing and to have it just right next to me on my PC case is honestly a huge thing for me. But if you don"t want to put little widgets on it you can put wallpapers single colored things it"s awesome like you can even black it out to where you can"t even see the inside of it. This case also comes with three fans they"re not very good they look like third-party aftermarket probably Chinese knockoffs and only one of them lights up and even the lights are pretty disappointing so if you"re getting this cuz it comes with fans sorry to say but they"re not really worth it. The rest of the case has a very nice sleek look to it the right front side of the case has this cool techie lights and I think you can change the color of it through your motherboard"s RGB software so that"s really cool and also has lights that shine through the back where all of your stuff plugs in and I like that cuz it lights up all your ports especially during night gaming so you can see if you need to unplug a plug something in. Now to get all the widgets and stuff on it I do have to admit it was a pretty decent hassle for me, mainly because I didn"t know what I was doing I"ve never done something like this before but really the only problem I had was with rain meter it just refused to open and then just a countless things you have to go through and it"s just super complicated but once you get that done you can just go to a website download a theme or a widget that you like download it and then go to rain meter upload the skin and then depending on the widget sometimes you can customize like what version you want if you want to be circle or square or just a line or something like that you could also depending on the way that you can change the color of them especially for the music ones and you just drag it over to the display and set it up however you want put your favorite background on it and set all of the software to start up when you start up your computer and you"re all set. I was told that the air flow in this case is bad and it"s definitely lacking I wouldn"t say it"s bad, I can"t remember but I do believe that my CPU temperature has risen by about 5° since I put it in this case but that could be because I was using the aftermarket fans that were in it as my cooling fan for my water cooled CPU because I thought it lit up and then I was kind of disappointed and I haven"t taken it out. The case is also very silent now if you do have an airplane of a GPU or a CPU cooler fan then you might hear it a little bit but when I started my stuff up it was a huge difference compared to my other case and I thought that was really awesome it"s probably like this because 90% of it"s closed off but it"s definitely something that I like about it. You"re going to have to buy a display cord to HDMI if your GPU only has one HDMI port like mine does I have an RX 590, you can also try to find an HDMI to DVI port if your GPU is that old but unless you have two HDMI ports on your GPU you"re going to have to buy another cord because this requires to be plugged into your graphics card. And if you just want to have fun that you can use this as a gaming monitor now it is see-through and it"s not the greatest resolution I think it"s like 1200 x 900 resolution but it is absolutely doable if you want to
