Separating the glass from the LCD should be done very carefully to avoid any unwanted damage. Special care must be undertaken if the glass is cracked. Never try to take off the glass without the right tools and equipment. It can damage the LCD which can be very costly to replace.
The glass and LCD are strongly bonded together with LOCA glue. The glue must be heated to loosen the bond. It can be done using a Hot Air Gun / Heat Gun. Technicians with some practice can easily do it. However, in most authorized service centers and professional service centers, they use LCD separator machine.
Use a Hot Air Gun or LCD Separator Machine, to give heat to the LCD to Loosen the bond of the LOCA glue. In both cases, a temperature of 200-300 Degree C is OK.
Gradually and evenly heat the front side of the phone. Use the Infrared Thermometer to check the temperature before trying to remove the glass. Make sure there is neither too much heat nor too little heat. Too much heat will burn the LCD screen while too little heat might crack it.
Start removing the glass from the top of the screen where speaker is located. Use the metal spudger to carefully separate the glass from the LCD screen. Move the spudger along the top edge and make enough space for the putty knife to slip in.
Reheat the surface and using the putty knife, carefully pry the glass away. After removing the Glass, use the Goof Off or Hot Blade to remove existing melted LOCA glue and clean the LCD screen using lint-free wipes. Some service centers and technicians also use automated LOCA removing machine.
LOCA glue is available in the form of liquid. It is not as thick as other adhesives. Apply just enough glue on to the screen in a “X” pattern with a “-” in the middle of “X”. Make sure not to apply too much or too little glue and see that there is no air bubble.
The adhesive will gradually spread across the screen and to the edges on its own without you having to apply any pressure. If there is any bubble, apply gentle pressure on the LCD and guide the bubble to the edge.
LOCA Glue do not cure or dry on its own. You have to dry it using UV light. Always Use a branded UV light that is about 30 to 40 Watts. You can also use a UV nail dryer. But do not use Flashlight UV lights.
Curing or Drying time of the Glue is generally 1 to 2 minutes. It also depends on the Wattage of the UV light source and the distance between the UV light source and the LCD Screen or Glass.

Generally, iPhone 6 LCD assemblies and frames are held together by PUR glue, which has two types HMG (Hot Melt Glue) and CPG (Cold Press Glue). OEM factories use CPG to assemble the screen and frame, which requires 15 seconds cooling time, 2-3 hours protecting time (Protecting time: time to keep the mold to hold the glued parts). It needs higher cost, longer working time and better equipment to produce and handle. While the assembled flex or refurbished iPhone 6 screen replacements are glued with HMG which the cooling time is 10 seconds and the protecting time is only around 6 seconds. It costs less, doesn’t require a strict working environment, has a shorter working time and results in weaker stickiness.HMG quality also varies by Low, Middle and High grades due to the different prices. Most third-party manufacturers use mid-grade glue for Apple products, however, it is not sticky enough to meet the higher requirements as the iPhone 6’s frame is thinner and the screen is bigger than previous models.
For assembled flex and refurbished iPhone screen assemblies with frames, both the frame and the front glass are high copies, and the frame is custom-made according to the size of the original front glass. After the molds of these two parts have been made, third party factories will constantly use them which means once the frame separation problems had occurred, many of the parts have already been sold in the market previously and currently.
We can see that the edge of the iPhone’s frame has been getting progressively thinner and thinner, thus the bonding area of the screen and frame is getting smaller. As we mentioned before not only is the problem with the mid-grade glue, but also with the machinery as well as the process that is used for previous iPhone models are not applicable any longer.
As you can see, there’re black areas on the bottom of 5/5C/5S and 6 frames. OEM factories will apply adhesive on that area, while many third-party factories won’t apply any adhesive to those areas in order to cut costs, which results in the glass separating from the frame.
The quality of high copy frames and front glass are not as good as OEM ones, the surface areas of these two high copy parts may not be smooth enough to ensure sufficient contact for the adhesive. This is also a reason why the frame tends to fall off.
The high copy frames used in assembled flex parts are not as strong as the OEM counterparts, and third-party factories have lengthened the height of the frame in order to increase the bonding area. The height of OEM iPhone 6 frames is 0.89 mm VS 1.18 mm for the high copy iPhone 6 frame.
The assembly work put into iPhone 6 screens and frames should be done in a dust-free room, but many third-party manufacturers are unable to meet this standard. Dust easily sticks to the glass unless these conditions are met, which will affect the quality of the glue.
Besides, there’s a varnish on the bottom of the iPhone 6 glass, if it is not sticky enough and coming off, the frame is guaranteed to come off as well.
Use this guide to correctly apply replacement adhesive under your iPhone"s display after a repair. Replacing the adhesive can help maintain your iPhone"s water resistance. Fitting a new display that costs the same as a replacement phone is pointless. However, if replacing the mobile phone screen is closer to $15, it makes sense to have a go yourself.
The most obvious location for a replacement display is eBay. Simply searching for the mobile phone model and the word display will turn up the required parts. Just remember to shop safely when using eBay.
In my case, "nexus 5 display" returned a wealth of accurate (and, sadly, slightly inaccurate) results. Take the time to check that the component you choose is genuinely for your device. Often, components may appear in the results thanks to a poorly written listing.
Amazon is also a resource for replacement screens, but you should also consider a general Google search as this will turn up specialist suppliers who might be able to provide a lower price.
Note that you may find listings that offer just the display, versus listings with half the phone"s chassis. Which one you buy depends on how complicated you want things to get. For example, just the display means melting the adhesive using a heatgun or hairdryer.
Alternatively, a replacement display kit that includes half the phone"s body will require components being transferred from the old body into the replacement.
These tools are included to remove the case and unscrew any components that obstruct replacing the display. For example, a mobile phone will have Torx screws under the battery cover that will need removing before you gently prize the case apart.
Note that spending money on these tools isn"t totally necessary. Sanding off the ends of a couple of plastic bicycle wheel levers will produce usable alternatives---otherwise, they can be sourced relatively cheaply.

Apply light pressure where the display meets the adhesive. Take care not to put pressure on the middle of the glass display. Excessive force can break even the strongest Gorilla glass.
Reconnect the relevant cables, locking them down where necessary. Place the components back in the case with care, checking that there are no cables or screws left over. Test the phone to check that it works.
The moment of truth: does the new screen work? Remember, a touchscreen display has two purposes: touch interaction, and displaying the phone"s operating system.
However, it isn"t always plain sailing. I"ve fitted a replacement display that caused the phone to overheat. Therefore, it is important to buy components from reputable sellers, and ensure you"re buying the right parts for your phone.
Most importantly, don"t walk into performing such a repair without some device-specific research first. Video guides are particularly useful; once you"re ready, get hold of the right tools and surprise yourself!

Autoclave or vacuum during bonding process -- The incorporation of an autoclave stage or introduction of optimized vacuum conditions will result in more consistent thickness, curing, and proper degassing of the adhesive when bonded.
Degassing step before dispensing -- Degassing before application remains one of the most effective and simple approaches and can often be enough to eliminate bubble issues on its own.

Select the top film and orient the film so that the arrow on the film label points to the side of the panel with the pins, then peel the protective film layer off the bottom film. This is the side with the sticker.
Peel the adhesive release film away from one edge and apply that edge of the film to the top of the panel panel and press it down with your finger. Gradually peel back the adhesive release film and use the card or roller to work the air out from under the film. If you see an air bubble form, gradually lift the film past the bubble and then reapply.
Use the razor blade to trim the film to the left and right sides and the bottom of the panel. If the film hangs over the top of the viewable area of the panel, that"s fine, but do not try to trim it from the top side, as the IC and conductive traces are easily damaged.
Remove the white backing from the factory graphics and align the bottom edge to the panel. Make sure that the graphics are evenly spaced on the polarizing film. There should be approx 1/32" gap between the bottom side of the panel and the start of the black border. There should be approx 1/32" gap between the left and right sides of the glass, and the black border of the graphics. Stick down the bottom edge of the graphics.
