ford focus mk2 lcd display problems made in china
The displays are illuminated by LED"s but also contain a colored layer of foil that is embedded between the layers of glass. The green displays have a green colored foil while the red displays have a red colored foil.
Installing a MK2 instrument cluster with green illumination or MK2.5 instrument cluster is perfectly possible. Since 2008 I have done this at least a dozen times. Even an RS instrument cluster is fully compatible with any MK2/MK2.5 Petrol version. Installing an MK2.5 instrument cluster can also be quite cheap. Recently I bought a low mileage, mint condition MK2.5 instrument cluster with large display from a UK based scrap yard I paid less than €100,- including P&P. The Focus MK2/MK2.5 instrument cluster can easily be configured/reprogrammed using a cheap ELM327 in combination with the free ELMconfig and Forscan software.
Our Ford Focus instrument cluster repair service will give you better value for money, takes 2-3 working days and comes with an unlimited mile Lifetime Warranty. Not only this but we also engineer-out the faults to ensure that the Ford instrument cluster problems do not return.
We fully test every instrument cluster before and after the rebuild process to ensure every instrument cluster performs as originally intended by the manufacturer and is as good as, if not better than a brand new unit. We test these units on a purpose build HIL (Hardware In-the-Loop) test rig that replicates all driving conditions, this allows us to replicate any fault described by the customer and eradicate Ford instrument cluster problems.
We take a great deal of pride in our work and will always handle your instrument cluster as if it where our own, we understand how important it is for your instrument cluster to always look as good as new when it is fitted back to your vehicle. We rebuild these Ford Focus clusters for both main dealers and independent specialist all over the globe, so you can always be assured of our very high standard of work.
I have until now used a rather expensive OBD2 interface, but i am not i a work of transfer this to a cheap ELM327 unit, it seems it will work perfect, also with Ford specific PID"s.
Hi, I am interested in your work. I have a 2007 Focus 1.6TDCi with DPF. I use Android Torque app and a cheap Bluetooth ELM327 clone. Do you have any custom PIDs associated with the DPF? Specifically I cant find one for soot load. I have EGT and DPF differential pressure custom PIDs.
I"d just like to make a standalone performance gauge for the car, with a small LCD panel that displays EGT, soot load, miles since regen and makes an audible beep when a regen is starting. I could read all that with an Android phone and the "Torque" app, but it"s a pain keep plugging the thing in/out whenever I use the car.
I have the custom PID code for EGT. I understand that Ford"s IDS tool can also get other DPF-related parameters out: DIST_REGEN (distance since last successful regen), DPPF (differential pressure in kPa) and DIS_ASHFULL (distance until your DPF croaks). I"ve been searching forums for these PIDs for months and come up empty handed.
AFAIK, there"s no parameter on the Focus for % soot load; just the differential pressure which is much the same thing - although it fluctuates depending on exhaust flow.
One thing you mustn"t do is to assume that differential sensor pressure output is the same as soot loading. In most ECU"s (especially Bosch EDC16 series and onwards, as fitted to most diesel Vauxhalls, Saabs, Fiats, Some Peugeot and Renault and Ford too) have inbuilt "ash counters" which completely ignore the reading from the pressure sensor eventually. Over a period of years an ageing factor is applied because regeneration is never 100% efficient, and even a well flowing filter will be flagged for replacement eventually. I don"t know what the techicians do at that point for all makes, but some perform an inspection and reset the counters (using the "replace particulate filter" setting) Others, I guess, prefer to charge customers dealer"s rates for a new filter
