I think I might have an answer for that. The Kraken Z series have an incompatibility list published recently from NZXT (see support post) with some motherboards and unfortunately mine is listed these. The "official" workaround is to get an internal USB hub for the motherboard. I think that"s why it"s appearing as this. Personally if I was given an option to RMA I"d choose it and maybe even go back to X series - disappointed with the issues I"ve had so far.

This Kraken Z73 is perfect for anyone putting together a build that has aesthetics and function in mind, and as for me served as the perfect final touch to my build.

Furthermore there"s a bit of a known issue involving certain AMD motherboards and the USB connection to those motherboards. I didn"t encounter this particular issue with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master but your mileage may vary. In case you do have an issue, contact NZXT support and they"ll provide a usb hub that works as a workaround until they can roll out Krakens with the permanent fix built in or whatever.

One more thing to be aware of is that unlike what the manual says there are only 2 viable installation directions if you are planning on the screen facing right side up. It"s true that there is a way to rotate the image through the NZXT CAM software but if it isn"t installed in one of the aforementioned orientations then unfortunately it wont be able to rotate it to the correct orientation which seems like an odd limitation but it is what it is.

Now for the CAM software, I"ll admit I"ve never used it prior to with this Kraken Z73 and I didn"t really have a very good opinion of it based of off some very negative things I"ve either heard from friends or read from users online, but with all that baggage built up going into this I"m relieved to say that my fears were unfounded. The current version of the software has a intuitive user interface with plenty of data and options for those looking to tweak things to their exactly preferences. While the one downside I will mention is that it appears to take much longer than competing software when it comes to fully loading on startup. This isn"t too bad of an issue more of a nagging annoyance, but it does take some getting used to as when it finally loads your user profile depending on your fan curve and lighting set up it could range from hardly noticeable, to a gale force disco colored hurricane.

The NZXT Kraken Z73 is completely controlled by NZXT’s own CAM software. The CAM software has many features that we will cover in this NZXT CAM software manual: It controls the graphics card tuning, monitoring, lighting and audio of NZXT’s own hardware/peripherals. We will only roughly touch on the functions that are important for the Kraken Z73, such as OLED and LCD display lighting and pump tuning.

Do not switch off the PC if the NZXT CAM software takes a little longer to start! Because the firmware update will be running in the background and you should let it finish. So just wait a few minutes until the firmware update is done automatically.

You can select a number of theme packs, but they are not relevant for us. The computer would have to be equipped with additional NZXT lighting for this.

There are 12 display modes to choose from, you can change the color of the background and fonts and you can use a self made GIF (you have to convert JPG files to GIF). The modes are GIF, Dual Infographic, CPU Temperature, Liquid Temperature, GPU Temperature, CPU Load, GPU Load, CPU Clock Speed, GPU Clock Speed, Carousel, ThaiChi and lastly Spectrum Wave. So the display is not only very chic, but also very informative!

You cannot (yet) reduce it to fit. The only thing you can do is zoom in on the selection window. So it’s best to take the edge into account when editing the logo to get an optimal display. By clicking on the gear wheel in the upper right corner, we get to the settings of the software. Here we can set how the software should start with Windows, select the language and choose the degree display in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

The CAM software also has an overlay, which allows us to display e.g. the FPS and other details in the game. The display is customizable in the game by pressing Ctrl + o. In the following window, various settings are possible.
