If a LCD display has pixel problems it is often because the connection from the printed circuit board (PCB) to the LCD display has broken. Many companies will just repair the connection, this is so simple that you could do it yourself in an hour…. but realise that this is a short term solution to the problem that will only hold up for 6-12 months. This is because the use of the special z-axis glue can only be used once.
At ACtronics we therefore prefer to choose a sustainable solution and replace these faulty connections preferably for new and improved products. Should the glass be broken, we will replace the glass for you. Therefore, we have for almost all displays from our catalogue, custom made connectors and LCD glasses (if apply) in stock, which are replaced in each repair. Thanks to our thorough approach we can offer you 2 years warranty on repairs.

The main dealer will quote around £1,250 for a replacement screen as they are unable to replace the components individually, whereas we have direct contacts with the supplier of the LCD panels and are able to replace just the failed component, rather than the entire button assembly.
The issue occurs on all model Astra-K"s to an inferior LCD supplier being used, we fit a higher quality component resulting in a the fault being completely rectified, we back this with a lifetime warranty.
Yes - if you wish to remove the screen assembly and post us it, we will repair, test and ship back the unit for no extra cost. Please contact us for this service.
The cost of having a professional replace your car’s touch screen depends on what you choose as a replacement but can generally land between $100 and $300.
This was a very helpful posting, thank you. The Haynes manual starts with removing the steering wheel with airbag which seemed a ridiculous way to start when replacing a panel light so your photographic sequence showing that wasn’t necessary was just the encouragement I needed to get on with the job.
I had fitted a towing kit but the trailer flasher telltale built into the instrument panel wasn’t working and the odometer has always been very dim so I wanted to check the bulbs. One problem I had which I think is worth mentioning, is that on my 2004 UK Zafira one of the facia fixing screws is behind the ventilation louvres in the top left corner of the panel. That louvre assembly can not be removed as the right hand ones can so it is necessary to go between the flaps with the torx driver. Mine was part of a screwdriver set with torx bits which makes it a bit wider than a regular screwdriver. It fitted between the flaps all right but the screw was right behind the flap with the slider on and being a torx screw the driver had to be square on to it. I thought the flap was plastic and would flex a bit but it is metal and brittle. The spigot at the end of the flap snapped off so be warned that it is quite fragile and care needs to be taken. I bought a dedicated torx 20 driver for replacing the screw afterwards which has a thinner shaft and got around the problem.
For people wanting to buy replacement bulbs before starting work, there are four different types on my Zafira. The bulbs are built into plastic bayonet holders which are all the same size and shape but are different colours which indicate different wattages and shape of bulbs. The panel illumination is done by three 1.5W clear bulbs in fawn holders. The odometer is lit by a frosted flat topped 1.5W bulb in a white holder. The left and right indicator lights and the trailer warning light are 1.1W clear bulbs in orange holders, so three of them altogether. The clock unit is backlit by two 2W clear bulbs in green holders. There is space for a third bulb at the bottom of the unit which I presume would be used if the car had a trip computer fitted. All other warning lights are LEDs which are part of the printed circuit board.
For example: for Dell U2415 monitor the factory installed display panel is 24.0" LM240WUA-SSA1 manufactured by LG Display, which supports 1920(RGB)×1200 (WUXGA) display and has WLED backlight incorporated (no LED driver is present in the panel). The signal interface is LVDS (2 ch, 8-bit), a single 30-pins connector. There are other matching panels made by LG, Samsung, AUO and possibly others (abundantly available from 3rd party resellers), but the most important is that the mainboard LVDS connector signals mapping do match the LVDS panel specifications - as found in the panel datasheet.
buy a used display panel, or a used monitor with similar size and resolution (checking first the monitor model specifications / resolution / backlight type / panel make, model, datasheet).
The replacement job will require disassembly, and one should carefully observe the steps in the video tutorials other users have created and posted on Internet. Or even better, leave it to a licensed repairer or somebody who has proven practical experience and knows how to avoid risk of electrical shock, ESD damage to the electronic components or the display panel - and can offer warranty for their work. Pay extra care with the cables connecting the mainboard to the display (LVDS, LED backlight and menu button board) as they can be easily damaged when removing the mainboard.
I am an IT guy who discovered repairing electronics by need - when looking to fix the hardware related problems I encountered with monitors, laptops, computers, networking, printing, audio-video and so.
I found that working with resources disposed for recycling is a very efficient way to learn, and solve many problems without big expenses. I agree that the cost of repair at specialized centres could bear a high cost - considering that fixing requires time, experience and somehow be lucrative. But younger generations tend to break technological barriers easier, and with the help of readily available information consumers can solve problems themselves when manufacturers can"t.
The Vauxhall Zafira Mk2, also known as the Zafira B, is the sort of car bought by people who have lots of backsides to put on seats, so its seven seats are ideal. But of course, if your family is big enough to need seven seats, then the day-to-day cost of living must be starting to sting a bit. And that’s where Haynes can lend a helping hand, because we can help you diagnose the common problems your Zafira is likely to suffer, and show you how to get it back on the road as cheaply as possible.
The Vauxhall Zafira is well known for having suffered issues with its heater blower resistor, which can fail and cause a fire. In the original recall, the fix wasn’t carried out properly, so the car has had to be recalled a couple of times since, to get it sorted once and for all.
The Vauxhall Zafira B suffers a problem in which the engine can suddenly stall when driving, and then will not restart. The car will also not respond to accelerator inputs.
Driving along only to find that your engine has cut out and won’t restart is somewhat less than optimal, but that’s sometimes happen with the Vauxhall Zafira Mk2.
Owners have reported that the Vauxhall Zafira can suffer and issue that causes a sticky gearshift action between third and fourth gears. They’ve also noted that when driving along between 1800rpm and 2800rpom, there can be a scraping noise from underneath.
In both, the solution is to remove the gearbox and take it to an expert for repair. Then refit it yourself. You will save a vast amount of cash on the labour costs involved in the removal and replacement.
Again, we can show you how to remove and replace the ECU, and how to trace the wires with our comprehensive wiring diagrams. They’re all in the relevant chapter of your Haynes Zafira manual.
Not knowing how much fuel your car has left in it, is one of motoring’s great gambles. At some stage you’re going to come a cropper and end up stopped at the side of the road. Vauxhall Zafira owners sometimes face this problem, because the software in the instrument cluster unit can get itself all in a fluster.
The solution is to remove the cluster and take it to an expert for reprogramming. The good news is that removing the cluster is very easy indeed. Just follow our step-by-step guide in your Haynes Zafira manual and it’ll be out before you know it. And then back in again shortly after.
First of all, you need to check your Haynes Zafira manual to ensure that the parts have actually been fitted in the correct order (the intercooler should be attached to the radiator, and the condenser to the intercooler). This is shown in the manual, and if the components on your vehicle are in the wrong order, then we’ll show you how to fit them correctly. When doing so, you’ll need to replace the screw (part no: 11099561) and locking nut (part no: 90424093).
If on your vehicle the display only works incompletely or it is out or tarnish, then usually defective displays and / or their conductive contact are the cause. With the help of this offer, you as a hobbyist screwdriver can easily and independently repair your instrument.
We have permanently more than 250 variants of display elements and their accessories in stock. So we can supply you with replacements quickly at any time if required. For many vehicles we also have illustrated repair guides (partly in English) or links to repair videos, which we can email to you on request. Our email and telephone service is available during our opening hours to give you reliable advice.
