Nissan does not provide acceleration numbers. We believe it will be below 4 seconds 0-60 mph and could well be as low as 3.5 seconds. It employs the same VR30DDTT 400-horsepower, V6 engine used on Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 four-door sport sedans that hit 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds. The weight of the Nissan Z hasn’t be announced yet, but it should be hundreds of pounds lighter, since the Z is a shorter two-passenger car and benefits from engineering advances since the aging Infiniti Q50 launched in 2014. Finally, the competitor to match or beat will be the Toyota Supra which is good for a 3.8-second run to 60 mph. Why match when you can raise?
The instrument panel is a 12.3-inch configurable LCD instrument panel (configurable within Nissan’s parameters). The center stack has three freestanding analog gauges atop the dashboard, facing the driver: turbocharger boost and turbocharger tach (rpm) and volts. Below that, in the center stack, is an LCD infotainment display. No head-up display is mentioned.
The Sport gets an 8-inch center display, Bluetooth, satellite radio, dual USB jacks; the Performance gets a 9-inch display with eight-speaker Bose audio, active noise cancellation (for road noise) and active sound enhancement (to amplify engine sounds). Nissan Connect telematics with WiFi is available.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a classic sports car with a lower-power engine but Mazda says, “It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.” The Fiat 124, sibling to the MX-5, was discontinued after the 2020 model year. The 2022 Subaru BRZ, due to be announced shortly, is expected to have about 50 horsepower more than the 181-horsepower Miata and 150 horsepower less than the 2023 Z. Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro compete more with each other than with the Z Car or Supra.
– Plug-and-Play Installation: The LCD Display will be plugged into the BCM connector next to the passenger side footwell. – Direct Replacement: Replace the Factory Passenger Dash Trim flawlessly. No interfere with the airbags.
The Mustang Bullitt edition has been developed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the film, which stars Steve McQueen and features one of the all-time best car chases.
For any car nut, San Francisco’s hilly streets became synonymous with grimy cool. The third-generation Mustang Bullitt follows in the footsteps of previous special edition Bullitt models in 2001 and 2008.
The 5.0-litre V8 gets Ford’s Open Air Induction System and intake manifold, 87mm throttle bodies and powertrain control module calibration from the Shelby Mustang GT350. Ford quotes figures of 341kW and 529Nm.
The new Ford Mustang Bullitt will also feature as standard Ford’s rev-matching system that delivers smoother downshifts accompanied by a “blip” of the engine. Of course, McQueen would want you to do it yourself…
The interior has Ford’s 12-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster and Recaros. Stitching will reflect the exterior colour choice, and each Mustang Bullitt will feature an individually numbered plaque in place of the traditional Mustang emblem on the passenger-side dashboard.
As with the Detroit reveal in January, Ford enlisted the support of third-generation members of the McQueen family, Chase and Madison, to unveil the new Mustang Bullitt in Europe.
