Vespa has always been known for its attention to the finishing touches and the GTS Super is no exception. The new scooters sport a modern look that incorporates technological advancements and finishing touches that may not immediately catch the eye, but make a subtle difference. There’s no better example of this than the classic Vespa “tie” which has been redesigned to create an even more distinctive and original impression.

From its birth in 2006, Vespa GTV has been the ambassador of purest classicism within the Vespa family thanks to the use of the “faro basso” (low headlamp), positioned on the front mudguard, and the exposed metal tubular handlebar, stylistic throwbacks to the most iconic models.

At EICMA 2022, Vespa GTV débuted in a completely revolutionized look, maintaining the inevitable traits of the legend’s origins but combining them with an ultra-modern technological equipment package and brand-new sporty finishes. The result is an extraordinary marriage of tradition and modernity, classicism and aggressiveness, which manifests itself in the most authentically sporty Vespa ever.

The new Vespa GTV is powered by the gritty 300 high performance engine (hpe) single cylinder, with four-valve timing, liquid cooling and electronic fuel injection. Accredited with power of 17.5 kilowatts (23.8 horsepower), it is the highest-performance engine ever fitted on a Vespa.

The new Vespa GTV evolves under the sign of sportiness and includes the significant stylistic improvements introduced in the new GTS range, with even more painstakingly detailed finishes and a construction quality that elevates it to unprecedented levels.

The headlight clusters are now full LED, including the characteristic low headlamp, whereas the new instrumentation maintains the elegant circular shape, but it is now entirely digital, a solution that makes it possible to take full advantage of the features offered by the Vespa MIA connectivity system, available as a separate accessory.

The instrumentation is connected to the handlebar using an original cantilevered bracket and enveloped by a small yet aggressive top fairing clearly inspired by the racing world. Enhanced by three horizontal slits, it is painted orange, a shade that also characterizes the Vespa GTV’s graphics and contrasting details.

Another distinctive element of Vespa GTV is the single-seat, two-tone saddle with a racing look and the rear part, which is installation ready for a hard cover color coded to match the body, reminiscent of the typical racing Vespa fairings. The cover is available as a separate accessory and can be removed. In any case, the saddle is street legal for two-up riding and features ample and comfortable seating, characterized by a technical pattern and horizontal thermobonding with contrasting orange stitching on the edges.

The overall look of the Vespa GTV stands out for its matte black finish that characterizes the frame of the low headlamp and the rear light cluster, its profile along the perimeter of the body, its passenger grab handle and foot pegs, its silencer cover, its rear-view mirrors, and the instrumentation bracket and frame.

The new Vespa GTV is available in the dedicated Beige Avvolgente Opaco color scheme with contrasting orange graphics that run diagonally across the side panels.

Vespa GTV embraces the technology and the traveling vocation typical of the extremely recent evolution of the Vespa GTS family, the famous “Vespone.” Therefore, the ergonomics are perfectly Vespa, enhanced by the comfort of the large body; the seat position is natural and allows total control over the vehicle and absolute comfort even over long distances.

The implementation of new digital LCD instrumentation allows a wealth of travel information to be displayed (maximum speed, average speed, instant consumption, average consumption, range and battery charge status), as well as all call, message and music notifications if the vehicle is connected to a smartphone through the VESPA MIA system (available as a separate accessory).

Created in 2013 and continuing the legacy of a humanistic approach to design, in which the human figure is at the same time creator and focus of the creative idea, Vespa 946 has now been the archetype of Vespa for the coming generations. It’s a masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship that has now become a genuine collector’s item, taking shape in a dedicated production line, more like a haute couture atelier than a factory.

Ten years on, Vespa 946 makes its debut in the special 10° Anniversario outfit, with an exclusive dedicated color that’s a modern take on a classic Vespa shade: green. In keeping with its role as trendsetter, Vespa 946 10° Anniversario sports a shade which is soft and velvety but has a hint of acidity that makes it highly original. It’s no coincidence that this shade emerged as a trend in the spring/summer 2023 fashion collections at the New York, London and Milan Fashion Weeks. The pearlescent color appears pastel at first glance but then gains depth with illumination.

All the details of Vespa 946 10° Anniversario are made with a refined burnished finish with warm hues, starting with the aluminum alloy split wheel rims, whose fins are intended as a reference to the historic drum brake that equipped the first Vespas. The wheel rim channel, on the other hand, is green to match the body. The double-upholstered saddle is black with burnished stitching, as are the hand grips, hand-sewn with needle and thread.

The most recognizable scooter brand in the world is going electric. Vespa will make an all-electric scooter to be sold sometime in the latter half of 2017. The news was announced by Vespa’s parent company, Piaggio, two days ahead of the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo e Motociclo (EICMA), or the Milan Motorcycle Show.

Piaggio published a photo of a concept version of the electrified two-wheeler, which you can see above. It’s called the Vespa Elettrica, and it has a stark metal body — gasoline-powered Vespas are made out of steel, for what it’s worth — with electric blue accents. (I think the combination looks gorgeous, so here’s hoping most of it translates to the final version.) Piaggio says it will share more details later in the week at EICMA, but for now this is all we have. No pricing, no specs, just 800 pixels by 533 pixels and a few grandiose statements.

Vespa sounds like it’s planning to take the Elettrica in a similar “connected scooter” direction, promising “technological and innovative connectivity solutions.” But all I can think about right now is taking it out on the road. Guess it’s time to start practicing for that license test.

With its GTS 300, Vespa still has an almost unique product in the motor scooter market: a small, windshield-free scooter with small wheels, equipped with a 300cc engine. Other, especially Asian, brands also have 300cc scooters in their range, but they are often equipped with large wheels and a lot of wind protection. It is clear that the Vespa recipe works. The GTS 300 has just been renewed and we were allowed to drive it around in romantic Rome.

Although the frame and engine have been adopted unchanged from the old model, it is mainly the look & feel that has changed. For example, the 2023 model gets a new tie, mudguard, DRL LED lights and direction indicators in LED at the front. At the rear there is now also an LED light and a new number plate holder. Furthermore, a new saddle, new 12 inch rims and some minor body adjustments here and there. It still looks like a Vespa, and that’s the main thing. Once in the saddle, you will notice the new keyless system, new buttons and the TFT dashboard with GPS function. But that TFT screen is not on every version. Because both the GTS, GTS Super and GTS SuperSport do it with a new LCD dashboard. Only the GTS SuperTech gets the TFT dashboard. And now you can guess which model we will use to make Rome unsafe.

The SuperTech is the version you want, but it does not differ from the other versions in terms of driving. We were surprised by how soft the GTS 300 bolts. Both in terms of throttle and braking, but also the suspension and the way it floats over the road is very pleasant. In addition, the 300cc engine runs very quietly, giving you an almost electric driving experience. You only feel the engine vibrate when you stop at a red light. Once started, the block turns as smoothly as the Vespa looks. Still, there’s quite a bit of spice in it. 23 hp is not something to shoot off your saddle, but in combination with the low curb weight of 163 kg you take firm steps. Small irregularities are then filtered out unnoticed. Try to avoid deeper wells and high protruding lids, because they are brutally passed on. That is not illogical, with the small 12-inch rims, thin tires and short suspension travel.

The busy Roman traffic is a source of stress for many, but a form of pure pleasure when you sit on the Vespa. With the greatest of ease, you can filter through everything effortlessly and you will be right at the front of the traffic light. You hardly get angry looks, because everyone finds such a Vespa funny. We are also not bothered by handlebar ends bumping into our knees, which is not abnormal if you are 1m90 and take a seat on a small scooter. In fact, we are quite comfortable on it. Even stronger, we have the feeling that we are on the road with a real quality product. The finish is nice, the driving feel good and it just does everything you ask and ask of it.

We also get a taste of a beautiful stretch of winding road just outside the city. The GTS 300 was not immediately made for that, but it more than passed the test. It feels stable at higher speeds and can easily be squeezed into a bend. Be careful with the limits of the small wheels, but the Vespa also warns you about that.

We are therefore positively surprised by our driving test with the renewed Vespa GTS 300. It does not differ much from the previous version, but is now completely up to date with small improvements on an excellent basis. And new colors that are particularly successful. Prices range from 6,999 euros for the standard version to 7,499 euros for the SuperTech.

Cross Vespa design with Gran Turismo power and you get the exclusive Vespa GTS 250 i.e., a vehicle that brings a touch of real style to the crowded GT scooter segment.

With a 250cc four-stroke, four-valve electronic injection engine in line with Euro 3 standards, an analogue-digital instrument panel and two disc brakes with ABS, this Vespa is today’s version of the legendary GS, the benchmark in scooter racing and travelling.

Fifty two years ago, Piaggio shook up the scooter world with its Vespa GS (Gran Sport) which gave the Vespa, conceived as a no-frills vehicle for easy travel, a racy edge. The GS was the first-ever 150cc Vespa, the first to reach speeds of more than 100 kph and the first Vespa model with 10-inch wheels. It was an immediate and overwhelming success. The early phase of post-war rebuilding was over and Italy had woken up to American rock n’ roll legends and witnessed its first youth rebellion. The Vespa GS symbolised the dreams of a generation, becoming — then, as now — one of the world’s most desirable scooters. It is in fact often considered the most beautiful scooter ever produced.

With an ultra-modern, powerful 250cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled, electronic injection engine, the Vespa GTS has large 12” wheels and a superb double-disc braking system with an optional ABS and brake servo. The Vespa GTS 250 i.e. is one of the very first two-wheelers — and the first in the 250cc category — to meet the strict upcoming 2006 Euro 3 standards. The steel frame is the same design as the successful Vespa Granturismo and new features on the GTS include the tail light, instrument panel, a wide, racy saddle and a vintage-Vespa-style rear rack.

In a GT scooter market where riders are spoiled for choice, the Vespa GTS is an all-in-one option. It combines the Vespa’s classy, exclusive look and manoeuvrability with the performance and technological prowess of big GT scooters.

The racy new Vespa GTS 250 i.e. is the largest engine displacement in the Vespa range and the most eye-catching new GT scooter. Well up to speed when touring, it is agile and nippy in heavy town traffic.

The GTS 250 i.e. is the most powerful and technically advanced Vespa ever made. It is a worthy heir indeed to the sports scooter tradition that was established by the Vespa GS back in 1955 and that was continued by the 90 SS, the Vespa Rally and the 50 Special, all machines that owe their character to Vespa’s sporting history.

From the front the Vespa GTS is instantly recognisable from the chrome trim on the mudguard and a position light placed midway down the shield next to the horn, reminiscent of 1950s Vespas, which had a small lamp on the mudguard.

The Vespa GTS 250 i.e. has the Vespa Granturismo’s sculpted cowls, bulbous headlamp, folding pillion foot pegs and optimal ergonomics, and a seating position that ensures perfect control of the vehicle.

While its natural riding position and ergonomics have always made the Vespa extremely easy to handle, the seat on the Vespa GTS has a new shape and material to offer improved comfort on longer runs. The impeccably finished, double-stitched saddle is just one example of the attention to detail on every Vespa model.

The storage area under the seat holds two Vespa half-face helmets and sundry items. The glove compartment in the front shield holds sunglasses, a mobile phone and other small items the rider needs all within a hand’s reach.

The instrumentation is one of the high-tech aspects of the Vespa GTS 250. Simple and stylish, the LCD display includes a fuel gauge, a rev counter bar, full and partial mileage, a digital clock with the date, an outside air temperature gauge and a coolant temperature gauge.

The virtual modelling process on the Vespa GTS 250 i.e. used mathematical models right from the pre-prototype stage to analyse coolant flow in the two-element radiator.

Within the Vespa GTS frame, the fuel tank is placed under the saddle. Its 9.2 litre capacity, which provides an extended riding range, does not limit the storage area or hamper access to the engine once the storage compartment has been lifted off (no tools required).

The legendary rigidity of the monocoque structure is backed up on the Vespa GTS by excellent cycle parts including 12” wheels with a 120/70 tyre in front and an extra-large 130/70 at the rear.

The front suspension is a classic single-sided trailing arm, a Vespa standard that offers various riding benefits. Because the shock is independent of the structure, it is affected less by twisting and bending, and the suspension limits front-end dive when braking. The chrome spring adds a distinctive visual touch.

The Vespa GTS 250 i.e. is the first Vespa in history and one of very few scooters to offer an electronic anti-lock braking system for total safety on high-traction surfaces and optimal use of the considerable braking power the twin 220-mm discs offer. The ABS model additionally shortens braking distance and enhances steering control by using a brake servo for optimal braking with minimal effort, and evenly distributes brake pressure to both ends. The result is total control of the Vespa GTS in difficult riding conditions — on bad roads and in rain or snow.

With the Vespa GTS, Vespa engine displacement goes up to 250cc for the first time. The top displacement so far was 200cc on the PX and the Granturismo.

Size isn’t the only distinctive feature of the GTS engine. This new Quasar 250 with electronic injection is a four-stroke, four-valve liquid cooled unit that meets Euro 3 standards well in advance of the 2006 deadline. The advanced closed loop injection with a Lambda sensor, three-way catalytic converter and electronic ignition system control considerably reduces both emissions and fuel consumption and provides immediate throttle response. The Vespa GTS is fun to ride, offering sparkling performance, fluid running, sharp response and cost-effective running.

Piaggio’s technicians worked on reducing engine noise and providing a pleasing exhaust timbre. They used detailed psychoacoustic analysis to this end, making significant mechanical changes. The thermodynamic machinery has been significantly altered: the cylinder is made of a different material and the piston has a new design. The tappet covers, automatic variator, clutch and flywheel are also new. The aspiration and exhaust system was redrawn from scratch. The result is a subdued, pleasing exhaust timbre that suits the stylishly racy Vespa GTS 250 i.e. perfectly without affecting performance.

The Quasar 250 i.e. develops power output of 22 hp and torque of 20.2 Nm at 8,250 and 6,500 rpm respectively, taking the Vespa GTS to a top speed of 122 km/h and offering acceleration at the top of the 250cc category. This high-tech engine makes the Vespa GTS a fast, comfortable and smooth ride in town and while touring.
