My two year old Sony Bravia TV stopped working all of a sudden. The screen would shut down within a second when we switch on the television and their red light blinks at the bottom 6 times. Sony has specific error codes corresponding to the number of times the Red LED blinks. 6 blinks indicate backlight issue, bad main board, or bad power board or inverter boards. Nowhere does it mention that there is any problem with the panel and I"m getting clear display for a second before the TV switches off automatically. But the service center says that the panel needs to be changed and it costs 27K. I think the service center is a cheat. And very disappointed with Sony. You pay 80K for a TV and within two years it stops working and you have to pay extra 27K. Why would Sony make such unreliable products? Within two years if the TV stops working for no reason then definitely it was defective from the beginning.

I bought a Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX330 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV after reading a lots of description and review about the product on the internet. I was given two years warranty at the time of purchase but it"s just so painful that the television started fading from its screen few months after purchase and I have to start calling on to contact Sony regarding my complaint. The customer representative agent keep saying that there is nothing that can be done as the part for the product is not available, advising me to go and buy any other Sony products in any of store as the warranty can no longer be honour since no products for KDL32BX330.

I bought a SONY TV about 2+ years ago. The TV model was KDL-40BX420. I did not buy any warranty since it is a great brand. I trusted that would last at least 5 years. After using about 2 years, the TV started showing strips that increased to the half of the TV screen within a short time. At the beginning, I did not think it was the TV problem. I tried to check out myself. Then, I called Cablevision. They checked and stated that was nothing related with Cablevision. I then followed the eSupport.SONY.com to troubleshooting. Nothing was resolved. Finally, I had to call SONY support. I spoke with Selene (female rep) at 888-222-7669, x5, x1, x1 on 7/9/2015 at 10:35 am. She was very unprofessional and before we could complete the conversation, she hanged up the phone. I was surprised that SONY has such rep.

I purchased a 32 inch led TV from Croma superstore, Chennai in October 2012. Imported from Malaysia. The TV developed defects in led panel last month despite following all operational standards. All parts inside the outer cover are made in China. Poor quality - keep away.

Sony KDL 40hx850 panel damaged. Purchased the a/m model in the year 2013. Now the screen shows two crisscrossing dotted colored lines. Sony technician has verified that the display panel is damaged and a replacement will cost at least 460 us dollars. Feels utterly disappointed after spending approx 1260 us dollars for this tv and it is less than 3 yrs old. Aware of similar complaints. Request my fellow folks to think twice before investing your precious money where technology is not fool proof. Thanks.

Soon after the warranty period expired, Horizontal lines and Vertical Lines appeared on the screen. I had launched complaint and service engineer visited, as per the service report/service engineer TV panel got defected and need to replace it. As TV is out of warranty customer has to pay for the same. As Sony is International no.1 brand it has got a problem in just 2.6 Years, unbelievable! I have referred website, so many people having same problem. Means there is no meaning to go for any branded products. Would like to share my Experience with Sony. Back in October 2013 I bought a 70 inch Sony KDL-70R550A Led Lcd. During Easter this year I switched on the tv to be greeted by a dark blue screen. I still had Audio, but could not get a Menu or anything. I rang Sony, and they said to send an email of my receipt. I bought the tv from Harvey Norman in Wangaratta. Having not heard anything for 2 days I rang Sony again and they told me to contact SSS Electronics who are the Company that fixes Sony Products that are in Warranty & not in Warranty. My tv isn"t because it was a 12 month Warranty. I rang SSS and they asked me if I had the box the tv came in and I said I didn"t. They said they would send one as their office is 600 km from me.

2 weeks went by and nothing so I rang Harvey Norman and they suggested calling a company named Telefix in Albury located 90 km from me. They told me to bring it in which I did. After a few days I rang Telefix and was told the tv had a Faulty LCD panel which would cost $1,500 and to ring Sony Customer Service and explain this to them and to get back to Telefix. This is where I"m at now. I"ll ring them tomorrow. Surely they can"t expect me to pay that. Sony should, and I"ll pay Telefix their Labor. If I get no Satisfaction, and Consumer Affairs can"t help, my last avenue is A Current Affair. Purchased Sony 32-inch KDL-32EX650 full HD on 28/10/12 from top in town Varanasi showroom, but after 30 months its screen having problem with horizontal line and blurred picture. On repeated complain Sony tech visited and informed that the panel needs to be replaced as problem with it after inspecting. We purchased this LED thinking that we are buying best, but it does not met the expectation whereas my 15 years first old tv of BPL is still in running condition without any repair. It"s my request to everyone planning to buy LED, go for Samsung, LG... It will be wastage of hard-earned money if you buy Sony. Believe it because Sony LED have manufacturing defect in panel and this problem will come anytime after warranty period is over.

Sony BX420 series information:Our review of the Bravia KDL-40BX420 from Sony is based off of our hands-on experiences with the 32-inch KDL-32BX420 set. What we observed applies to the 32-inch set as well as Sony’s 46-inch KDL-46BX420.Sony says that the three sets have the same specifications (save dimensions and weight) and should offer similar performances.

But how does the reigning king of high-end high-definition do with budget TVs? We’re talking about straight-up bedroom or kid’s playroom TVs. No super-duper animotionsmoothing, 7680Hz, artificial intelligence, or 8TB of on-board storage necessary. You know, maybe just one of those 32-inch inch jobs that make us wonder how we ever managed to watch 13” TV sets. How does Sony do in that market space? Well, we got our hands on the KDL-40BX420 (which sits just one notch above Sony’s most basic set) to find out.

This model packs in two HDMI inputs where most of its competition offers three. Its single component video input on the back is a hybrid that can optionally accept composite video. For convenient access, another composite video input is located on the side of the TV. A standard RF antenna jack and 15-pin PC input on the back panel rounds out this TV’s connection options. Excluding the antenna jack, that’s a total of five video connections — probably plenty for the average user.

Just a few complaints: We didn’t find the light sensor feature to be all that useful. Ideally, this feature adjusts brightness based on the ambient light measurements it takes, reducing brightness when the room is dark and boosting it when bright. We appreciate the energy -saving benefits of such a feature but, in this case, felt that the picture looked best using one of our own custom settings with the option turned off. We also saw a bit of motion judder when we carefully scrutinized fast-moving scenes, but this is to be expected of any 60Hz TV without some kind of motion-smoothing circuitry (which we usually don’t care for anyway). Finally, we noticed a bit of backlight bleeding through the LCD panel. Thanks to the a thick bezel, there was no bleed at the edges, but we did see some blotches of light coming through the panel when no picture was present and during exceptionally dark scenes. This is typical of CCFL backlit TVs in this price class, though, and shouldn’t be considered a fault of the manufacturer.

While competing entry-level models are beginning to offer bonus features such as wireless Internet access, Internet apps and sometimes even 3D, Sony sticks to its guns with the KDL-40BX420 by focusing on a superior picture, decent sound and a user-friendly interface in an attractive package. Light but well-constructed, this TV should be an easy fit in just about any room in the house. We recommend this set for anyone who prioritizes picture quality over bells and whistles.

By this time next year companies like Sony might not even sell TVs like the KDL-BX420 series. The CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent) backlight that illuminates this TV"s LCD panel is slowly going extinct, replaced especially in larger screen sizes by LEDs packed into razor-thin cabinets that can generate more light from less power. They can also generate higher profits. The BX420 is Sony"s least expensive 1080p TV for 2011, and it"s a very good value. The picture quality isn"t up to the best non-LED models we"ve seen, like Samsung"s more expensive

Series information: We performed a hands-on evaluation of the 40-inch KDL-40BX420, but this review also applies to the other screen sizes in the series. All sizes have identical specs and according to the manufacturer should provide very similar picture quality.

While the Sony BX420 doesn"t do anything particularly well from a picture quality standpoint, it also, surprisingly for an entry-level LCD, doesn"t do much badly. Its worst offense is color inaccuracy in dark areas and imperfect screen uniformity, but its black levels were decent and it actually handled 1080p/24 cadence--something we didn"t expect from a 60Hz TV. Overall its picture deserves the same score of 6 we gave to Sony"s EX720 LED-based model, which costs hundreds more. We"d give the BX420, with its more accurate color and better processing, a slight edge over the Samsung LND550 with its better black levels and uniformity, but the two are neck-and-neck overall.

PC: The BX420 performed worse as a big PC monitor via VGA than most LCDs we"ve tested. Despite handling the full resolution of 1,920x1080 pixels, it evinced softness in text and other detailed areas that no adjustment we tried could cure. PC sources via HDMI looked fine, however.
