Starting from the sensor, Mudmaster only comes with a Twin Sensor vs. Rangeman"s Triple sensor. This means that you"re getting the compass and thermometer, but not the altimeter and barometer. Which is not a big deal, since you can probably manage without a barometer, right?

There"s just something great about the minimalist toughness and value for money in this watch. The value for money is extraordinary. It"s not even solar, but the battery will last you 11 years if you go careful on the backlight and is cheap to replace.

It"s the first watch that I bought, and after years of wear, it"s still ticking, with no scratches on the screen. Note that the "A" button is more recessed than the other buttons so you won"t accidentally hit it and engage the "change time" mode. So is it one of the best G-Shock watches or a great beater watch? Simple answer - yes.

G-Shock GX56BB-1 "King of G" is the biggest regular G-Shock watch in existence with its massive 56mm diameter case. Out of all G-Shocks, only the high-end Master of G watches are bigger than this model. The GX-56BB-1 measures 55.5 × 53.6 × 17.5 mm and weighs 88 grams.

The watch is made of resin with a solid, matte black finish. It"s large, built like a tank, and has a stealth-like military look. It has a thick, 17.50-millimeter case, which consists of a triple-layered structure that combines soft and hard, urethane with Alpha GEL.

GX-56 was originally intended as an extra-tough G-Shock watch for use in the harshest conditions. However, the model also became fashionable because of its unique look and the huuugesize. Check out the video below to see how this beast looks like on the wrist:

Alpha GEL gives the watch extra shock absorption, vibration isolation, and heat dissipation. The triple-layered build makes the GX-56BB extremely durable and virtually indestructible, even when compared to other G-Shocks. In addition to that, GC-56BB comes with the mud- and dust-resistant construction and is magnetic resistant. With all these features, it had to make our list of best G-Shock watches.

The GX-56BB a good option for larger people, or if you like the square G-Shock design but find the 5600 series too small. This model currently only comes in the "blackout" color, as other colors have been discontinued.

G-Shock GW-6900-1 is based on one of G-Shock"s best-selling case designs - the classic DW6900. But unlike its parent, this model comes with Solar Power and Multi-Band 6 Atomic Time Sync. It"s a great all-rounder for functionality and durability, and hard to beat for the price.

The GW-6900-1 comes with the regular solar G-Shock watch features: World time (48 cities), hands-free EL backlight, stopwatch, timer, 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze alarm, power saving mode, full auto-calendar, 12/24 hour format, daylight savings time, and button tone on/off.

This watch is extremely simple to operate. It has no unnecessary features and sticks strictly to the basics. The EL button is a nice touch and makes the backlight more accessible. The LCD screen is easy to read day or night. The illumination feature works great.

GW-6900"s size is medium when it comes to G-Shocks, which many people find perfect for them. Not too big and not too small. The understated design won"t draw attention.

At the end of the day, it"s an excellent self-adjusting watch. Good choice if you"re looking for an affordable digital G-Shock watch with Tough Solar & Atomic time features. The only other watch that comes close to this one is the #5 GW-M5610 Solar Atomic Square.

G-Shock GA-100 is a popular oversized model with modern industrial looks, similar to its brothers GA100 and GA700. The looks are the main selling point here – you"ve got many colors and styles to choose from, with black & orange and black & gold being the most popular.

While it"s a non-solar watch, you"re well covered on the features: LED light, countdown timer, 1/1000-second stopwatch, 55 mm resin case, World Time (48 cities + coordinated universal time), city code display, daylight saving on/off, Home city/World time city swapping, 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze alarm), hourly time signal, Full auto-calendar (to year 2099), and 12/24-hour time.

The GA110 is a good choice if you want a bold, manly watch. The look is just right - not understated, but not blingy or garish either. With the XL 55mm case, it will have a strong presence on your wrist. It"s also an affordable watch that looks more expensive than it really is. It"s a combo that earns the GA110 the #15 spot on our list of 28 Best G-Shock Watches.

G-Shock GA700 is another oversized model that comes in a 55mm case. The looks are slightly different from the GA110 above, but the watches are nearly identical in their features.

One important difference to note is that the GA700 is one of the few G-Shock watches that come with a front EL backlight button. This model also comes with a hand-shift feature that allows you to move the hands of watch away to read the digital screens for a few seconds.

As with GA110 above, the main appeal of G-Shock GA700 is in its looks. It"s a big, rugged and masculine watch that"ll take any abuse you throw at it. The watch is light for its size, which makes it comfortable to wear. It"s also affordable, although you wouldn"t tell that from the looks.

G-Shock GWM500A-1 is one of the best small solar atomic G-Shock watches. The watch will recharge its battery on the go, with a maximum battery life of 9 months. The time will adjust every day at 00:00 through a radio signal.

It"s a simple and straightforward solar watch – all you have to do is put in your city, and the watch will do the rest. As you can see from the retro design, this model has been around for more than 15 years and is still going strong.

The watch comes with Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping, Tough Solar Power, Full Auto EL Backlight with Afterglow, World Time, 4 Daily alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Hourly time signal, 1/100 second stopwatch, Countdown Timer, Full auto-calendar, 12/24 hour formats, Button operation tone on/off, and a battery power indicator.

In price and features, it"s nearly identical to the #5 GWM-5610 solar atomic square, with the only difference being its front EL button that the square doesn"t have.

G-Shock GW2310FB-1CR is a rugged, accurate, and versatile watch that you can wear with gym gear, running, or in business casual. You won"t need to worry about changing batteries and setting the time, as it comes with Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6 Atomic Time Sync.

The watch comes with regular solar G-Shock features: Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping , Tough Solar Power, Full Auto EL Backlight with Afterglow, World Time, 4 Daily alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Hourly time signal, 1/100 second stopwatch, Countdown Timer, Full auto-calendar, 12/24 hour formats, Button operation tone on/off, and a battery power indicator.

Although bigger than the GWM-500 above, this model is a little smaller than most other G-shock watches – we"re rating it"s size as "medium". The all-black coloring with the negative display gives it a tactical watch look. The negative display can be hard to read, particularly in glare or medium light. But a shift of the wrist will make it visible again.

Get the GW2310FB-1CR if you want a solar G-Shock and like the tactical watch looks. It used to be a best-selling model a couple of years back and is still popular.

G-Shock G9000 Mudman has been around since the 90s and used to be THE toughest watch in the world back then. Times have moved on since, and other G-Shock models have taken the throne. But this bad boy remains a best seller to this day.

As the name implies, the G9000 Mudman comes in mud- and dust-resistant case with a resin-covered case back and protected buttons. The construction makes it impermeable to mud but also makes the buttons harder to press than on other models.

Instead of writing an essay for you, I"ll just leave this video here. The Urban Gentry channel is just as fond of this watch as I am – I"m sure he will do a better job of explaining why the G9000 is such a good deal right now:

The features of the watch include: Auto LED backlight, 5 alarms, hourly time signal, flash alert, 1/100 sec stopwatch, countdown timer, full auto calendar, and 12/24 hour formats. The features of this watch put it in the upper tiers of reliability even for a G-Shock. And it has that cool retro sci-fi appearance to it. The blacked-out look is very understated and sleek.

Note that this Mudman is not solar - it"s an older model and solar batteries weren"t around back when it was designed. But the lack of solar is compensated by the lower price of the watch.

With a 52 mm resin case, the Mudman sits right in the middle of the G-Shock size chart. It"s medium-large if you will – certainly not a small watch. It comes in multiple styles, but my favorite is the military black. There is also a "regular" black & red Mudman that looks more similar to other G-Shock watches. Overall, with old-school design and classic features, the G9000MS remains one of the best G-Shock watches around.

G-Shock GW-5000-1JF is a watch made for true G-Shock watch fans. Here"s what makes this square special, and why it costs up to x3 times the price of other G-Shock squares: It is a tribute to the original G-Shock DW-5600C from 1983

Now, does the stainless steel build make this square tougher and more durable? No doubt. But you"ll only notice that difference if you run lab experiments on it. In real-life situations, however, there is no difference between a G-Shock with the plastic inner case and a G-Shock with the stainless steel DLC coated one. They"re both tougher than you"ll ever need them to be.

In addition to solar charging and atomic time synchronization, you also get World Time (48 cities), 4 daily alarms with snooze, a countdown timer, and a stopwatch. There is a hands-free backlight mode that lets you engage the illumination with the movement of your wrist in a dark environment.

This model is the ultimate G-Shock square for hardcore fans of the brand. No collection is complete without a stainless steel caseback square, and this is the perfect model to fill that slot. If you want the nostalgia of owning a G-Shock watch with the original construction, or if you just want the best looking square G-Shock, then this is the watch for you (and certainly among the best of the best G-Shock watches for collectors).

G-Shock GST-S110D-1ACR is one of the few Casio G-Shock watches that come in a full stainless steel case, part of Casio"s G-STEEL series. The steel construction gives the watch a high-end look, making it suitable for the office as well as outdoors. The watch is big and thick – it"s got plenty of masculinity and wrist presence with the 53.8mm case size and 16.1mm in thickness.

The features include: Tough solar, double LED light, world time, stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, hand shiftfeature, full auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format, and button operation tone on/off. You"ll have no problem reading the smaller digital screens in any light, as the hand shift feature allows you to move the hands out of the way, and the double LED has separate illumination for the screens.

The analog hands have lume and light up in the dark - rare feature for a G-Shock watch. The feature that this model is missing is the multi-band radio signal reception.

This watch is light enough for daily use, and big enough to make an impression. You can wear it on dressy occasions or while traveling. Or simply outdoors. And while it costs more than the plastic models, the ability to wear it in formal settings is well worth the money.

Personally, I"m a big fan of the cool steel watch look, and this is a fantastic example of form meeting function. All these factors make the GST-S110D-1ACR a natural addition to our list of best G-Shock watches.

G-Shock GA800 is the only affordable Casio G-Shock model that comes with a ticking seconds hand. Most other analog-digital G-Shock watches only have two hands for the hour and minute with seconds showing on the LCD display.

Other features of the watch include dual time (with home time swapping), auto double LED light with afterglow, stopwatch (1/100 second for the first 60 minutes, 1 second after 60 minutes, up to 23:59’59), countdown timer (100 minutes), 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, hand shift feature, 12/24 hour format, and estimated 3-year battery life. This is a non-solar model.

GA-800 is a medium-sized watch 54.1 x 48.6 x 15.5 mm, which is thinner than most Casio G-shocks watches. This makes the watch comfortable to wear, especially under multiple layers of clothing. The watch is unisex and fits both men and women.

To sum it up, G-Shock GA800 is great if you want a more traditional analog watch that isn"t too large and comes at a reasonable price. The watch comes in many different colors, so if you want to get all colorful with your G-Shock, then this model is a good option to do that.

G-Shock DW6900BB-1 is a basic Casio G-Shock that comes in a subtle matte-black design, one of the basic watches included Casio"s Black Out line. This model is more than 20 years old, the minimalist black look gives it modern look that you wouldn"t expect from a G-Shock.

DW6900BB-1 is still the tough and indestructible, but more elegant than your average G-Shock watch. The all-black matte design makes it versatile enough for formal occasions and office wear. Here"s a demo of how it looks on the wrist:

G-Shock DW6900BB-1 is worth getting for the looks alone. I have another black out watch (DW-5600BB) and it gets compliments all the time. It"s a unique fusion of old-school G-Shock design with the modern minimalist design that just works.

GST-B100-1ACR is the first full-analog G-Shock from the G-STEEL line. It"s the best G-Shock watch in Casio"s steel collection, and comes with better features than the other steel watch above.

You can connect the watch to your phone through Bluetoothand adjust the time, world time, and alarm settings straight from your smartphone app. There is a phone finder feature – when engaged, the watch will visually show you where your phone is located in the room. Handy if you"re like me and lose track of your phone from time to time.

Another unique feature of this watch is the 9 o"clock dial indicator which is designed to resemble turbine blades of a jet engine. The dial rotates whenever you change your settings. It allows you to view the elapsed stopwatch time, alarm settings, and battery level visually through the clearance of the blades.

The GST-B100 measures 58.1 x 53.8 x 14.1 mm. While it"s a big watch the 14.1mm thickness is very slim for a watch of this caliber, which indicates that Casio designed it for office as well as outdoors. It will fit under your shirt sleeve.

GST-B100-1ACR gets you that G-shock toughness with a classy touch. One of the best G-Shock watches out there for a business environment. This model comes in three variations: GST-B100-1A with a resin band, the GST-B100D-1A with a stainless steel band, and the special edition GST-B100X-1A with a carbon fiber bezel and resin band.

GWX-5600-1JF G-LIDE is a G-Shock surfing watch that comes with tide and moon graphs. You get the tide and moon data based on your location coordinates by manually entering your latitude & longitude.

GWX-5600-1JF is one of the most "complete" G-Shock squares out there because in addition to the tide and moon features it also comes with Tough Solarand Multi-Band 6 Atomic Time Sync.Here is a short video explaining the surf features of the watch on a white model:

If you care about the surfing or the tide & moon graph, then buy the GWX-5600-1JF. It is the ultimate G-Shock surfing watch and a perfect example of the features and "vibe" that the series brings.

GWF-1000-1jf Frogman is the ultimate G-Shock diver watch and has a long heritage as one of the first premium G-Shock watches ever released. It is also one of the most expensive Master of G watches that you can buy today

It comes in a DLC-covered stainless steel inner case and is as rust-resistant as it gets. The shape of the case is asymmetrical and gives the Frogman its unique look. The design is polarizing, with people either loving the watch or hating it – there seems to be no middle ground.

If there was a title of "The Most Elite G-Shock", then Frogman would be up there in the rankings. Even considering its features, the watch is expensive and is mostly used by die-hard G-Shock fans.

GMW-B5000D-1 is the rolex of digital watches. It"s a full steel G-Shock square that made a huge ruckus when it was first released during G-Shock"s 35th anniversary in 2018. The watch quickly sold out and was going for ~$1000 on the grey market. By now the production has caught up, and these are widely available at slightly more reasonable prices.

Combining the toughness of the best G-Shock watches with a full-steel construction is an impressive feat of engineering. Add to that the fact that the watch is modeled off the first G-Shock ever made, and you can see why this bad boy is so popular among fans and collectors.

In addition to the full-steel construction, this watch was also the first square to have Bluetooth. You can connect it to your phone and adjust the time, world time, countdown, timer, and alarms all from the app. Bluetooth also provides reminder alerts, time and place log, and the phone finder function.

Other features include: Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6 Atomic Time, World Time, 5 alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer, calendar, 12/24h time, and hourly time beep.

G-Shock GA-2000 Series uses a carbon core guard structure which is the newer, "third material" that the watches are being made of besides resin and metal. The carbon is the best of both worlds - lighter than metal, but more durable than resin. This is also the main selling point of the GA-2000.

Another great thing about this watch is that you can change out the straps. With a regular G-Shock, you couldn"t change the strap without a special set of adapters. The GA-2000 completely solves that problem – you can wear it on resin, steel, leather, nylon… take your pick.

They"ve also addressed most of the analog G-Shock problems with this line – there is a hand shift feature to move the hands out of the way of the digital screens, plus the double LED that illuminates the smaller screens in the dark properly.

Other unique features of the watch include lay-flat bands, guardless buttons, dual-layer stainless steel, and resin case back, and a convenient front LED light button. The biggest downside of this model is that it"s non-solar. If you can deal with that, then it"s a fantastic analog G-Shock pick and worthy of our final spot in our 28 Best G-Shock Watch guide.

G-Shock is the ultimate "bang for the buck" watch, but that"s especially true for the cheaper models. Even basic sub-$50 G-Shocks come with 200m of water resistance and a shock-proof construction that is able to survive a truck driving over it.

Combine that with a battery that lasts from 2 – 10 years (depending on your backlight usage) and you can see why people call G-Shock the ultimate tool watch. At its core, the basic Casio G-Shock watch is a tough, reliable, and durable watch that has everything you might need in any situation.

Triple Sensor –By far the most "elite" G-Shock feature. Triple Sensor G-Shocks come with Compass, Thermometer, and Altimeter/Barometer functionality - all on your wrist. Most of the sensor"s functions are reasonably accurate, but there are some quirks that you need to keep in mind (calibrating the compass, etc.). I will get more into these in the reviews below.

Twin Sensor –Twin Sensor models come with Digital Compass and Thermometer only – no altimeter/barometer. Twin sensor is the older version of the Triple Sensor and is the cheapest way to get yourself a compass G-Shock. The Mudman G-9300 model is a great example of a relatively affordable G-Shock that comes with a Twin Sensor.

Tough Solar – Or in other words - a solar rechargeable battery. Solar batteries in G-Shocks can run for 9 months on a full charge without further light exposure. Daylight is enough to keep the watch fully charged, you don"t need direct sunlight. The solar battery needs changing every 10-15 years, compared to 2-5 years on normal quartz batteries. Solar G-Shocks have gotten cheaper over time, so today there is no reason not to have one.

Multi-Band 6 Atomic Time Sync – Every day at 00:00, your G-Shock will calibrate its time via radio signal. This feature ensures that your watch is 100% accurate all the time. There are 6 radio signal towers that cover most of the world including the U.S. and Canada. Keep in mind that the signal doesn"t reach some areas in Russia, Central Asia, and Iceland.

World Time –The World Time feature allows you to easily change between timezones. They usually include 31 time zones and 48 cities you can choose from. On most G-Shocks, you"ll also get the dual time feature allowing you to monitor two time zones at once. Useful while traveling.

Hands-Free Backlight– Common feature, especially on solar models. When turned on, you can toggle the backlight with the flick of your wrist, without having to press buttons. Useful if you"re working with your hands in the dark.

I"m going to keep this simple. There are hundreds of G-Shock models out there, but if we look at the features and the price, you"ve got roughly four types of G-Shock watches to choose from:

Basic, below $50: Basic Budget G-Shocks. There are three "classic" G-Shock models that are still around from the 90"s – the DW5600, DW6900, and DW9052. They"re reliable digital G-Shocks that come with basic features and no frills attached. They"re the perfect beater watches – costs less than $50, but will probably last you more than a decade.

Intermediate, below $100: Slightly more advanced G-Shocks that often come in oversized cases. In addition to basic features, these models can have World Time, 5 alarms, dual time display, and occasionally the hands-free backlight feature. The analog-digital best-seller G-Shock GA100 belongs to this category, as well as the unique vibration alarm G-Shock GD-350 "Gulf Delta" Military Watch, both favorites among soldiers and police officers.

Solar atomic, $80-$130: Solar Atomic G-Shock watches come with a solar battery and a Multi-Band 6 Radio Time Sync. In other words, your G-Shock will set its own time and charge its own battery, every single day. Solar Atomic G-Shocks are as reliable as it gets, being mostly zero-maintenance. Popular models include the square GWM-5610 and GW7900B-1 G-Rescue.

Twin / Triple Sensor, $130 - $500: Twin/Triple Sensor models with advanced features (compass, thermometer, altimeter/barometer & more). Most of these will set you back at least $200 with the sole exception of G9300 Mudman that retails slightly above $100 and offers the best bang for the buck for a compass G-Shock. Our #1 pick GW-9400 Rangeman also belongs to this category.

G-Shock is also the toughest watch in the world according to the Guinness Book of World record. The test involved driving a truck over the basic G-Shock DW-5600 model. The watch survived and has since held the title of the toughest watch in the world. Not bad for a cheap sub-$50 beater, eh?

We"ve also tested other brands who claim to make tough watches (like Luminox and Timex), and they just didn"t measure up to G-Shock in durability, features, and affordability.

Not all G-Shocks are made from Resin. There are the G-STEEL models that are versatile enough for formal situations while maintaning their tough looks.

G-Shock "King of G" GX-56BB is the biggest G-Shock watch ever made. But many of the Master of G series premium watches come close to it in size. You might also like the oversized GA100 series which are also among the biggest G-Shocks ever made.

Yes, all G-Shock watches are waterproof. They"re actually "water-resistant" to 200m, but even as a recreational diver you won"t be going anywhere deeper than 70m. Which means that your G-Shock is 100% waterproof. Read more about G-Shock"s waterproofness rating.

Casio’s collection of Bluetooth smartwatches is growing in a way where it’s getting more compelling for athletes. The latest addition to the series is the new Casio G-Shock GBD-H1000, which comes with GPS and different sensors that make it the first G-Shock to be called a smartwatch.

The new GBD-H1000 can be a suitable option for those who can never quite get used to the chiseled Fitbits and Apple watches and instead prefer the geared appearance of the Casio.

The watch teases promising features, but we still don’t know much about the display resolution. What we know of the display is that there’s a high-definition, memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD display that comes on-board tuned at high contrast.

On the design front, there’s a curved back cover and large buttons — typical of the Casios that you are used to seeing. The new G-shock would be shock-resistant and water-resistant for up to 200 meters.

The Casio G-Shock GBD-H1000 battery life is slated at 14 hours with the heart rate, and GPS switched on. It weighs around 101g. It supports solar and USB charging.

The new G-shock brings a new approach to the way smartwatches track your movements while you are training. The Training Load features tells you how hard you have been working, and the times you have been peaking during your workouts. These insights recorded by the Casio also show the strain put on the body for 7 days. It also lets you keep track of your performance and fitness goals.

An optimal training load means that your body could be expected to see measured improvements over time. There are also other measurement parameters alongside, such as Productive and Unproductive, that can affect the intensity of your workouts and training.

Other parameters highlight other aspects of movement: Peaking for intense practice sessions, Recovery for the days when you lighten things up, and Detraining when you have been inactive for a while.

The G-Shock links your workouts to the gains you expect over time. It gives you Aerobic and Anaerobic Training Effect scores between 0.0 to 5.0, depicting the outcome of your workouts.

The Aerobic Training Effect score highlights the outcome of your workouts based on your aerobic performance capacity (VO2max). At the same time, the Anaerobic Training Effect reveals how your explosive performance abilities are developing over time. It could be used to explain how you perform between your sprints and recovery.

Casio G-Shock GBD-H1000 comes in four different colors. There’s a black and white GBD-H1000-1A7, black GBD-H1000-1, red GBD-H1000-4, and black and red GBD-H1000-8. The color combinations reflect a classic Casio setup — sturdy and aggressive.
