I have a new HP Pavilion Elite HPE-1401f computer. I also have a Sony monitor (TFT LCD color computer monitor) (SDM-X72) with internal built-in speakers.
I am unsure as to where I should plug the black audio cord from my monitor to the new computer. Currently, the black cord is plugged into the orange c/sub outlet in the rear of the computer.

When the monitor is connected to a PC via HDMI and PBP mode is turned off, the monitor may display images at the lower resolution (2560 x 1440) rather than automatically switching to the native resolution (5120 x 1440).
When the monitor is turned-off and back on, the monitor may blink twice. This issue may occur if the PC is using a Nvidia Graphic NVS 310 card and graphics card resolution setting is 2560 x 1600.

This is normal behavior of the monitor. Dell consumer monitors are inspected at 150-lux ambient lighting (similar to typical office lighting). Dell UltraSharp and Gaming monitors are inspected with a tighter criteria of 70-lux ambient lighting (dimly lit room but not dark).
Dell SE2222H monitor uses a curved IPS panel, the corners of the screen may appear slight yellowish or pinkish, especially when viewing in dark room. This is normal IPS panel behavior and typically does not affect the overall viewing performance.
Dell SE2222H monitor is factory default set at HDMI EDID with 3 Block (Detailed Timing Descriptor) to support 5120 x 1440 @ 60 Hz. To display a resolution of 3840 x 1080 @ 60 Hz or lower, you need to switch the monitor HDMI EDID from 3 Block to 2 Block.

Use the buttons at the bottom of the monitor to access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu of the monitor. To access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, press Button 5 (Figure 4) at the bottom of the monitor.
NOTE: Any changes that you make are automatically saved. Whenever you move to another menu item, exit the OSD menu, or wait for the OSD menu to automatically close.

The USB-C port on your Dell S2422HZ supports USB Power Delivery. The USB-C port can supply power (65 W) to a compatible laptop using a single USB-C cable that is provided with the monitor.
NOTE: Up to 2 A on the USB downstream port (the port with the SS SuperSpeed battery icon) with BC 1.2 compliant devices; and up to 0.9 A on the other USB downstream port.
NOTE: The monitor’s USB ports work only when the monitor is on or when the monitor is in Standby Mode. When the monitor is on, in Standby Mode, if the USB cable (Type-C to Type-C), is plugged in, then the USB ports can work normally. Otherwise, check the OSD setting of Other USB Charging, if the setting is “On in Standby Mode” then the USB works normally, otherwise the USB is disabled. If you turn off the monitor and then turn it on, the attached devices may take a few seconds to resume normal functionality.

If the sounds are normal when using other software programs, the issue is with the software on the computer, and not the speakers in the monitor. If sound is missing from other software, continue using this procedure.
Check the cable connection. If the monitor-to-computer connection is a VGA cable (usually blue on both ends), an additional audio cable is needed between the monitor and the computer. Check that the audio cable is connected properly.
