tft lcd color monitor no sound in stock

I have a new HP Pavilion Elite HPE-1401f computer. I also have a Sony monitor (TFT LCD color computer monitor) (SDM-X72) with internal built-in speakers.

I am unsure as to where I should plug the black audio cord from my monitor to the new computer. Currently, the black cord is plugged into the orange c/sub outlet in the rear of the computer.

The top edge of the screen must be at eye level when you are sitting comfortably. Adjust your chair height or the height of the monitor to achieve this.

NOTE: Dell S2422HZ supports display over USB-C port with Alternate mode DP 1.2. Ensure that the USB-C on your computer supports Alternate mode DP 1.2 or above.

CAUTION: Dell S2422HZ monitor setup must comply with the recommended panel orientation and working angle only. Setting up the monitor in an orientation that is not recommended may damage the monitor and/or cause a safety hazard.

Use the buttons at the bottom of the monitor to access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu of the monitor. To access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, press Button 5 (Figure 4) at the bottom of the monitor.

NOTE: Any changes that you make are automatically saved. Whenever you move to another menu item, exit the OSD menu, or wait for the OSD menu to automatically close.

Resetting a monitor to factory defaults can help resolve many video or display issues. To reset your Dell S2422HZ monitor to factory default settings, follow these steps:

No POST - Your computer is not showing any indication of activity. For example, the screen is blank and does not display the Dell logo during start-up.

Your Dell S2422HZ Monitor provides a self-test feature check that allows you to check whether the monitor is functioning properly. If the monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self-test by performing the following steps:

If your monitor screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video card (GPU) and computer, because your monitor is functioning properly.

Your Dell S2422HZ monitor has a built-in diagnostic tool. It helps to determine if the screen abnormality you are experiencing is a problem with the monitor or with the video card on your computer.

When you notice screen abnormalities such as distortion, clarity, horizontal or vertical lines, color fade, it is a good practice to isolate the monitor by running the Built-In Diagnostics.

NOTE: If you do not see any screen abnormalities in the built-in diagnostic mode, the monitor is functioning properly. If you notice any abnormalities in the built-in diagnostic mode, contact Dell Technical Support for repair options that are available in your region.

A few permanently bright or dark pixels are considered normal by industry standards. The exact number of pixels that are allowed varies depending on the monitor. Refer to Dell Display Pixel Guidelines for more details.

You can adjust the volume by adjusting the volume bar on the player application (like media player), not the Windows OS level or adjust the volume through the line out external speaker device.

The USB hub of the DUT cannot be detected by specific systems (Apple M1) when connecting DUT to the system through a USB-C cable and then restarting the system.

For the webcam to function, connect the provided USB-C to USB-C cable between the computer and the monitor. If the computer does not support USB-C, use a USB Type-A to USB-C cable (optional purchase).

Ensure that DELL Monitor RGB Webcam is the default camera in apps such as Microsoft Teams, Skype, or Zoom. To learn how to change the webcam settings in these apps, go to the software manufacturer"s website.

For the integrated microphone in the monitor to function, connect the provided USB-C to USB-C cable between the computer and the monitor. If the computer does not support USB-C, use a USB Type-A to USB-C cable (optional purchase).

Under Choose your output device, select Echo Cancelling Speakerphone S2422HZ. If the default output device is set to DELL S2422HZ, the integrated microphone on the monitor is not supported. The DELL S2422HZ output device is suitable for audio playback only.

NOTE: If you do not see the recommended resolution as an option. Update the video card (GPU) driver from the https://www.dell.com/support/drivers website or the video card (GPU) manufacturer"s website. Built-In Self-Test - The Dell S2422HZ monitor has a built-in self-test that helps you identify if the screen abnormality is with the monitor or the video card (GPU) on your computer. When you notice screen abnormalities like distortion, clarity, horizontal or vertical lines, color fade. It is a good practice to isolate the monitor by running the Built-In Diagnostics.

The Troubleshooting section of this Dell knowledge base article provides information about troubleshooting common issues with the Dell S2422HZ monitor. The section has troubleshooting steps on how to resolve power issues, video issues, color or clarity issues, distortion issues, horizontal or vertical lines, brightness issues or pixel issues, and so on.

To navigate the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, use the buttons on the monitor. The monitor control buttons are usually on the right side, either on the side, front, or bottom of the monitor. To access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, press Button 5 on the monitor.

Additional monitor information such as the model number, firmware version, and Service Tag can be accessed from the monitor"s OSD (On-Screen Display).

The USB-C port on your Dell S2422HZ supports USB Power Delivery. The USB-C port can supply power (65 W) to a compatible laptop using a single USB-C cable that is provided with the monitor.

NOTE: Up to 2 A on the USB downstream port (the port with the SS SuperSpeed battery icon) with BC 1.2 compliant devices; and up to 0.9 A on the other USB downstream port.

NOTE: The monitor’s USB ports work only when the monitor is on or when the monitor is in Standby Mode. When the monitor is on, in Standby Mode, if the USB cable (Type-C to Type-C), is plugged in, then the USB ports can work normally. Otherwise, check the OSD setting of Other USB Charging, if the setting is “On in Standby Mode” then the USB works normally, otherwise the USB is disabled. If you turn off the monitor and then turn it on, the attached devices may take a few seconds to resume normal functionality.

If you purchased an iWires cable direct from Apple the instructions are in the printed booklet that comes in the packaging. Most people don"t read this as it"s normally the case that when you plug a cable in to anything it just works (VCR, TiVo, Xbox, video camera etc). In this instance Apple are failing to live up to their catch-phrase as final setup is NOT intuitive; "it just DOESN"T work".

System Preferences > Displays. There are 3 tabs in the window; Displays, Arrangement and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Bottom left of the window tick "Show displays in menu bar" and then bottom right click "Detect Displays".

You should now only see 2 tabs, Display and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Select the desired resolution for your TV (probably 1080i). leave all other settings at their default values.

System Preferences > Sound. There are 3 tabs in the window; Sound Effects, Output and Input. Be sure you are on the Sound Effects tab. Middle of the window select your TV where it says "Play sound effects through:".

On the left-hand side of the window you should now see HDMI. In the middle of the window, on the Output tab, where it says "Source:" select your TV from the drop-down list.

This last action below is NOT described in the iWires notes but was required in my case, it may also be required in yours. If you CANNOT see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list on the left, do the following:

Bottom left of the window select the wheel icon with the down-pointing triangle. Make sure that sound output is selected and that you can now see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list of devices.

You may have to do some or all of the above to get sound out of your TV from your computer using the DisplayPort to HDMI cable. On my Aug 2011 MacbookPro I had to do ALL of the above. If you take your laptop to a different TV you will have to do it all again so be warned.
