The brewer is made for K-Cup hot beverages like coffee, cider, and tea - It is not designed to supply cold water, so it will not work with cold water K-Cup beverages.

You"re not supposed to use the reusable K-Cup options with the refrigerator brewer - According to GE, the brewer can"t close and lock properly with most reusable pods.

In general, use either Keurig 2.0 pods or generic pods with the black "Keurig Brewed" emblem- Brands with the Keurig emblem are authorized by Keurig and are designed to work properly with the refrigerator"s brewer. Non-Keurig pods may have different designs that can result in clogging or other issues.

Because the refrigerator brewer doesn"t have a "reader" like some Keurig machines, it won"t prevent you from using "non-Keurig-approved" K-Cups. But GE notes that these K-Cups may fail to brew properly or at all due to design issues that make them incompatible with the brewer.

The Keurig coffee maker range has certainly seen some changes as models have come and gone. This can just add to the confusion of what to buy. So here we set out what has been taken out of production and what it has been replaced with.

The entire B series the company launched with. This was replaced by the 1.0 series K range — the B model number was replaced by the same K model number.

Keurig is actually a company which is 20 years old. Though it may feel like their products are very new to the market, they have been in the coffee industry a long time.

When the 2.0 range came out, this became far more difficult. Keurig introduced technology which meant these types of ‘off-brand’ coffee were blocked from working.

The most modern products on the market including the K-Select and K-Elite have returned to being able to use any pod, and the features continue to grow along with the range.

Maybe you have a small kitchen, a dorm room, or vacation home. Perhaps you like the security of taking your favored brewing method with you when you travel. Then small is best and Keurig has that covered.

Keurig’s slimmest brewer is the 5” wide Mini. Highly portable and stylish, this machine will give you the coffee you love in the method you trust just about anywhere.

The premise behind a Keurig is pretty simple. Each of the coffee makers takes pods which contain ground coffee, hot water is then pushed through, brewing a fresh cup of coffee in a process which takes just a minute or two (and sometimes less).

In terms of ease of use, there aren’t many simpler ways to get a coffee which is a big upgrade on instant coffee. This is why Keurigs have become so popular in kitchens and offices the world over.

Keurigs range has some mini coffee makers such as the K10 which do not have a reservoir and require the water for each individual coffee to be put in at the time of brewing.

The size of reservoir required will also depend on the size of the coffees you are making. Everything from a small 4 oz serving to massive 30 oz carafes can be made in a Keurig coffee maker.

The “Pods” are the little packages of coffee which slot perfectly into your Keurig. One is required for every brew. Pods are a cause of some controversy in the Keurig range.

For a time, the environmental impact was heavily criticized, but Keurig have made big steps to ensure all of their pods are eco-friendly in the future.

Pods come in different varieties which are designed to tie in with the size of brew. The standard K-Cup is designed for single brews, but other pods are available for larger sizes. The most common pod types are:

Another type of pod which is available is the reusable “My K-Cup”. As well as this, there are also reusable pods available which aren’t made by Keurig.

Whether ‘compatible’ pods work will depend on the generation of Keurig your machine is in. More on generations later, but generally, generation 1.0 will allow use of compatible pods.

Some common features of Keurigs are listed below. Only you will know which are useful to you and which are unlikely to be on your shopping list!Brew sizes: Most keurigs will give you some control over the size of your brew, there may be two or three options or up to 10 different choices.

Iced mode: Some Keurig coffee makers have started to come with extra features such as the ability to brew a coffee specifically to be served over ice.

“Frothy” and barista styles: Some of the high level commercial Keurigs offer the ability to make more barista style coffees such as lattes or cappuccino.

Price is bound to play a part. The difference in price between the mini models of Keurig with limited features and the all-singing, all-dancing, top of the line models is huge.

You will probably have a budget in mind that you plan to spend on your Keurig, fortunately the options at every price point make a good cup of coffee.

Well, you love your coffee but that doesn’t mean you want to pay more than you need to for a coffee maker. Here are the machines with the best prices.

The slimmest and the cheapest is the brand new K-Mini. Great if you have little space or want something portable. This model doesn’t have a water reservoir — you simply fill it up for each brew for any cup size from 6-12oz. You pay more for the Plus model, but it comes with a pod storage unit that fits in the machine. It comes in a choice of black or red.

Probably the best-selling budget model, this is a great option if you want affordability with few extras. It has three brew size options, a 48oz reservoir and it comes with Quiet Brew Technology and a K-Cup variety pack.

The biggest brewers, however, are the 30oz monsters for filling up your carafe. They are all part of the Keurig 2.0 series. Because they take the K-Cup, K-Mug and K-Carafe coffee pods, they have brew-size choices of 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz, 16oz, 22oz, 26oz, and 30 oz. The major difference between them is their water reservoir size.The K200 and K250 both have a 40oz water reservoir and neither have temperature control. The K200 comes with extra charcoal filter and descaling solution.

For a 70oz water reservoir, there is the K425, which also has temperature control and color interface, the K450, which comes with a water filter starter kit, and the K475. This one doesn’t come with a carafe, though.

The biggest brewers with the biggest water reservoir are the K525, K545, K550 and K575. They all hold a full 80oz of water, so you don’t have to fill them up so often. The K545 has a large screen and comes with a reusable My Cup pod. The K575 doesn’t come with a carafe, but it has the largest color touch screen display of all the 2.0 series machines.

The Keurig K55 is one of the highest selling coffee makers in the brands history. Although not the newest, it certainly has a good blend of features and affordability. So why is this recommended for home use?

While not packed full with some of the features we see on offer right at the high end of the market, the K55 has plenty for most of us to be excited by.

The touchscreen designs are nice, but for most of us there is no issue in using a button design, especially if it means saving on the cost of the machine.

The main upgrade from the basic ‘mini’ options in the Keurig range such as the K10 is the fact that this has a water reservoir, meaning you can hold and filter water on the machine.

There is no filter included, but this is very easy to add on to your K55. Combine a filter with the ability to descale the K55 with a descaling kit available from Keurig, and you can extend the lifespan of your coffee machine.

The K55 is fairly basic by the standards of the Keurig range, but the good features combined with the value for money on offer make it a great option for home brewing.

The dimensions (6.9”³W x 10.7”³D x 10.8”³W) are pretty much small enough to take with you wherever you have access to power and water. Even the power cord has been designed in a way that is easy to fold it away.

While it probably won’t win in a 1 to 1 battle with any other Keurig on features, the K15 is indisputably the most portable coffee machine. If this is your main criteria then look no further.

The K250 is one of the best models in the K 2.0 series, with a great balance between features and value. While similar in size as something like the K50, this has become very popular due to the added options to its 1.0 competitors.

This means that brews up to an incredible 30 Oz are on offer. 30 Oz isn’t recommended for a single serving, but if you regularly drink coffee with others this can be perfect, making the K250 a popular model for those who regularly have guests at home or in offices. Serving a Carafe of coffee can be great for meetings, for instance.

Another big upgrade from many of the 1.0 models is the LCD control. This is easy to use and allows you easily to control all of the new options available to you.

All-in-all, if you are looking for brew strength controls and plenty of options in terms of brew sizes, you can’t go wrong with the K250, as long as you can put up with a 40 Oz water reservoir. If you need bigger than this, there are other options…

If you plan on brewing a couple of Carafes every day then with the K250 you will have to refill your reservoir, whereas this can handle multiple batch brews.

The touch screen panel is signature of the 2.0 range, and keeps the ease-of-use while giving a more modern feel to the Keurig. The extra large display is simple to navigate in spite of all the options added in the K500 range.

It is hard to mention any of the 2.0 models without mentioning the fact that you are a little more restricted due to only being able to use official Keurig K-Pods and K-Carafes.

The Keurig 2.0 series was a bit controversial and criticised for including a scanning technology that prevented the use of other coffee pod brands. The series has been discontinued, except for the K250, but you may still find them for sale.

A 2.0 Commercial model that also suits the home. It takes licensed K-Cups in five sizes and has a 90oz water reservoir. A compatible water filter is available. It has temperature control, but no strength control. It comes with a color touch screen and brew button. It has a direct water facility.

A 2.0 Plus model that takes K-Cup, K-Mug, K-Vue, K-Carafe pods and My K-Cup. It gives a choice of 10 brew sizes, up to carafe sizes, though the model does not come with a carafe. Includes a 40oz water reservoir. A compatible water filter is available. There’s no temperature control but it does have strength control. The display is a 2.4” black and white LCD.

A 2.0 Plus model that takes K-Cup, K-Mug, K-Vue, K-Carafe pods and My K-Cup. It gives a choice of 10 brew sizes, up to carafe sizes. It comes with a carafe. The model has an 80oz water reservoir, temperature and strength controls and a 2.8” color touch display, and a nightlight. A compatible water filter is available.

A 2.0 Commercial model that takes licensed K-Cups. A choice of four cup sizes, temperature and strength controls, and a black and white LCD display with style options. This model has no water reservoir as it plumbs straight into the water supply.

A 1.0 Classic model with three cup sizes, 6, 8 and 10oz. There’s no water reservoir (you fill it up for each brew), no water filter, and no temperature or strength control. But it’s compact at 6.9” wide and weighs in at just 8.82lbs.

A 1.0 Elite model for those who want simple basics. Three cups sizes, a 48oz water reservoir and is compatible with a filter kit. No temperature or strength control. LED indicators tell you when to add water and descale.

Another 1.0 Elite model that comes with a removable water filter. It has three cup sizes and a 48oz water reservoir. No temperature or strength control. LED indicators tell you when to add water and descale.

A 1.0 Special Edition machine providing “mid-luxury”. It is durable and has customizable settings. It comes with three cup sizes, a 60oz water reservoir, and temperature control. A compatible water filter is available. The LCD control panel gives one-touch button brewing with a blue backlight.

A 1.0 Commercial model perfect for vacation homes. Single size 8oz cup and no water reservoir — fill it up when you need it. Doesn’t come with a water filter, temperature or strength control. Indicator lights for Place Cup and Heating.

The B series was Keurig’s first line of machines and was discontinued when the company re-branded with the K series. But you can still find them around on eBay or Amazon.

They all take unlicensed K-Cups and Keurig 2.0 licensed K-Cups, and none of them come with a water filter, although a compatible water filter is available for all models except the B31.

Much the same as the K40, although it has just two brew sizes, 8 and 10oz. It has a 48oz water reservoir. Its features include Quiet Brew Technology, a water level indicator, and it comes with a K-Cup variety pack. The display has LED indicators.

A 1.0 series Ultra model, this has the same spec as the B44, but has a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a K-Cup variety pack. The display is an LCD message center with two brew buttons and a menu button.

This is a 1.0 series Special Edition. It is almost identical to the K60 except the smaller water reservoir, which is 48oz compared to the K60’s 60oz. It has three brew sizes, 60oz, 8oz and 10oz, takes a reusable My-K-Cup, and has temperature control. It also has a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a K-Cup variety pack. The display is a blue backlit LCD panel with one touch brewing.

Another 1.0 series Special Edition, this has five brew sizes and a 60oz water reservoir. It takes a reusable My-K-Cup and has temperature control. It also has a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a K-Cup variety pack and programmable favorites. The display is a blue backlit LCD panel with one touch brewing.

This 1.0 Platinum model is one of the company’s best-selling models and has a well-deserved reputation for reliability. It has five brew sizes up to 12oz, a 60oz reservoir, takes a reusable My-K-Cup, and has temperature control. It also has a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a K-Cup variety pack and programmable favorites. The display is a blue backlit LCD panel with one touch brewing.

Apart from the maximum 10oz brew size, this 1.0 Select model is much the same as other B70s and K70s. It has four brew sizes, a 60oz water reservoir, takes a reusable My K-Cup and has temperature control. It also has a 24-hour digital clock and comes with a K-Cup variety pack and programmable favorites. The display is a blue backlit LCD panel with one touch brewing.

A 1.0 Commercial model for hotels and motels, and Airbnbs of course. Highly user-friendly, this comes with a single 8oz brew size, can use a reusable My K-Cup and has button controls.

A 1.0 Commercial durable model for small offices, though also suitable for the home. It has three brew sizes, 6oz, 8oz and 10oz, a 48oz water reservoir, and a display with button controls, indicators lights and a brew size selector knob. It also comes with a variety K-Cup pack.

A 1.0 Commercial, heavy duty brewer for large offices, it has five brew sizes up to 12oz and 90oz water reservoir, with the option of direct water supply plumbing, and a temperature control. The display has a color touch screen and brew button and is bilingual. It also comes with Quiet Brew Technology, a 24-hour programmable clock, and ANSI certification for foodservice use.

The 1.0 Commercial brewer is for large offices or where you want to provide customer self-service. It brews 35-40 cups before you have to service it and plumbs straight into the water supply. With four brew sizes, temperature and strength control, a four button black and white, bilingual LCD display, and an automatic pod ejection system, it is ideal for high self-service demand. It is also ANSI certified for food service.

The Vue series was Keurig’s venture into café style coffee with a frother function and using K-Vue pods. It was only around a couple of years though before it got discontinued, along with the pods. But there are still many machines out there and you can buy a pod adaptor . This lets you use K-Cup pods or your own ground coffee in Vue machines, meaning you can still get a fresh cup of coffee.

V500: The most basic of the Vue series and great for café-style drinks. It has six brew sizes, 4oz to 16oz, and a 60oz water reservoir. And with temperature and strength control you can fully customize your coffee. It comes with a froth button for café frothiness and a function to brew over ice. It also has a water filter and a black and white touch screen display.

This machine differs in two ways from the V500: you can brew an 18oz drink — taking the number of brew sizes to eight, and it comes with a variety K-Vue pack. Aside from that, they are the same.

With this model, the Vue series steps into the commercial coffee world. Most features are the same as the V700, but it has a larger water reservoir at 80oz, and a UL commercial certificate. It also sports the highly convenient “My Brew” technology that reads your pod and sets the controls — fool proof. It comes with the pod adaptor so you can use K-Cups and your own grounds.

Debuting in 2012, the Rivo Espresso was Keurig’s offering for single-serve espressos. But, along with the Vue series, the Rivo was discontinued just two years later, its pods, too. Unlike the Vue series, though, there is no adaptor to let you use other pods. But there are still some machines available — probably pretty cheap.

The Rivo R500 does give you a decent espresso though and in two sizes, 1.4oz and 2.8oz. It has a 60oz water reservoir, but no water filter, temperature control or strength control. But it does have a frother for your creamy drinks and it comes with a frother pitcher with lid.

There is not really one specific “best” product in the range. No “one Keurig to rule them all”. What we have is a lot of different features and options, some of which will suit you down to the ground.

Whether you need a small, portable and modest Keurig or a huge model for brewing 30 Oz at a time, there’s something here for your scenario and you need to consider exactly what you need before deciding which works for you.

Keurig recently announced a new customizable option for select brewers just in time for the holiday gifting season. The “My Keurig” lets shoppers add monograms, names, colorful designs, seasonal decor and more to the K-Mini, K-Mini Plus and K-Slim coffee makers. The launch comes after a slew of Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts from the brand — some of which, like $10 off packs of 60 or more Pods, are still ongoing.

You can customize your Keurig in one of two ways. The first option lets you choose a design associated with a specific brewer model and then personalize it with the colors and text of your choice — all 12 design themes are compatible with all three types of brewers. The second option lets you choose a specific brewer first and then personalize it with your preferred design, color and text, which can be useful if you or your loved ones are eyeing a specific Keurig model.

Customizable designs include colorful polka dots, chevron tile, holiday designs and a plaid pattern. You can choose the text size, the colors of the text and design elements, how large you want prints and patterns to appear on the brewer and where you want to place text on the machine. You also have the option to customize the sides of the brewer individually (Keurig noted you can’t currently upload any of your own photos or designs quite yet).

The customized machines feature the same capabilities and functions as their non-customized counterparts, including cup sizes and reservoir capacity. But keep in mind that the customization does come at an additional cost: A personalized Keurig coffee maker costs about $30 more than the same non-personalized model and starts at $109.

You can customize the Keurig K-Mini in Matte Black or Studio Gray with the design, color and text of your choice. The K-Mini brews cup sizes between 6 ounces and 12 ounces and is less than 5 inches wide, making it a good option for small spaces.

The Keurig K-Mini Plus is available to customize in either Matte Black or Matte White. The width and brew size of the K-Mini Plus is the same as the K-Mini. But unlike the K-Mini, this device has a built-in storage compartment to hold up to 9 K-Cup Pods and features a “Strong Brew” function to brew a stronger cup of coffee, according to the brand.

The Keurig K-Slim can be personalized only in the Matte Black base color. It can brew 8-, 10- and 12-ounce cups, and features a removable drip tray to accommodate travel mugs. While it’s also 5 inches in width, it is longer than the K-Mini and K-Mini Plus — 15 inches compared to 11 inches.

Coffee is many people’s go-to hot drink, but if you’re making it at home, the grounds can be messy and brewing can be time-consuming. The Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker quickly and easily makes single cups of coffee using K-Cup coffee pods, so there’s no need to grind beans, measure ground coffee or clean it up once you’re done.

Keurig claims its K-Classic machine “brews a perfect cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa or iced beverage in under 1 minute at the touch of a button,” which sounds ideal for the everyday user. We wanted to discover if this claim is accurate, so we tested the Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker to find out. After some in-home testing, this is what we found out.

Testing products in a lab or other controlled environment can give you some idea of how they perform, but it isn’t until you try them in the real world over an extended period that you really get to grips with them and discover their quirks. We have a group of testers who try products out in their home for at least 2 weeks, with the aim of investigating all the claims their manufacturers make.

For this review, we gave it to a tester who regularly drinks coffee but also brews tea and hot cocoa on occasion. They usually use a Keurig 2.0 Coffee Maker, so they were able to compare how the K-Classic stands up against their usual model.

The Keurig K-Classic is a single-serve coffee maker that uses pods to brew coffee. It’s compatible with K-Cup pods, which are made by a variety of coffee brands and are widely available in North America. It also works with the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter, which is great if you want to use your own coffee blends.

The Keurig K-Classic costs roughly $120-$150, depending on whether you find it discounted or at its full recommended retail price. You can buy it from Keurig, Amazon and Wayfair.

The K-Classic is extremely easy to set up and use. It comes basically ready to go. All we needed to do was slot the drip tray into place, remove a few pieces of tape from the machine, fill the reservoir with water, plug in the power cord and start brewing.

Keurig claims the K-Classic has a brew time of under 1 minute. We found it took around 60 seconds to brew a cup of coffee, with the larger sizes taking just slightly longer than the smaller ones. This saves a lot of time compared to brewing a whole pot of drip coffee.

While we didn’t need to use the cleaning cycle during our testing period, the process is straightforward: add a bottle of Keurig Descaling Solution to the empty water reservoir, add a designated amount of water, run the solution through the machine until the reservoir is empty, leave it to sit for 30 minutes, then run one cup of clean water through the machine before it’s ready to use again.

At 28 inches, we found the power cord frustratingly short. We had to plug it into an extension cord to position it exactly where we wanted. However, it’s worth noting that Keurig makes its cords deliberately short so there isn’t too much excess when you position it close to an outlet. Depending on how many outlets you have in your kitchen and where they’re positioned, you might not find the length of the cord an issue.

The Keurig K-Classic is a quality single-serving coffee maker that’s great for people who want the speed and convenience of pods. It lives up to the claim that it makes coffee, tea and hot cocoa in under a minute, though whether it makes the “perfect” cup is debatable.

If you’re looking for another option from Keurig, this might fit the bill. It gives you the option to brew an extra-strong cup or over ice, in 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-ounce sizes.

With an attractive design and LCD display, this Cuisinart model looks great and performs well. It brews coffee from K-Cups and from a reusable filter basket.

One of the main advantages of a Keurig is its simplicity from the user’s side. You don’t have to worry about measuring the coffee or water. Just put in a K-Cup, select the size and strength you’re looking for, and brew.

While there are many styles of Keurig coffee maker, they all work in basically the same way. The user selects a cup size and presses brew. The Keurig pulls the right amount of water from the reservoir or water line, heats it, and dispenses it over the ground coffee in the K-Cup.

Proper brewing on a Keurig is more about pushing the right buttons than weighing and measuring. Let’s briefly walk through how to set up and use a Keurig for all the first-time owners out there.Set up your Keurig on the counter. They come fully assembled in the box, though you’ll want to check for any tape or plastic on individual components and remove it before plugging the coffee maker in. Make sure to lift the handle and check the K-Cup brewing area for a shipping disc.

Run a brew without a K-Cup in the tray to clean out the machine. You’ll still have to lift and close the pod to initiate the brew cycle. Pick the largest brew setting available on your machine then press brew. When it’s finished, dispose of the water in the mug.

Depending on your brewer, you’ll see various settings on a Keurig machine. These include:Brew size.All of Keurig’s brewers let you choose your cup size. On many Keurig models, these will be individual buttons showing different cup sizes along the top or front (usually near the brew button). On other models, they’re available through the touchscreen interface.

Brew strength. If a brew strength adjustment is available, it may have a dedicated button on the control panel. If so, press the “Strength” button before you hit brew to get a bolder cup. Models with touchscreens will have this option there.

Brew temperature. While not available on all Keurig coffee makers, this is another option for controlling the brew strength. Hotter water will give you a bolder cup. Most brewers with temperature control use a touchpad display for the settings.

Size and speed are the biggest differences between models of Keurig single-serve coffee maker. All of them brew faster than drip, but some of the more powerful models can make a cup in a minute or less, while others take a few minutes.

Keurig is constantly innovating and updating its product line. We’ve tracked down all the models on the market at the moment and reviewed them all below. Read through to get a sense of how they stack up side-by-side.

You’ll get a fast brew speed with the K15, too. It takes less than 2 minutes for a 10-ounce cup and you can also brew smaller 6 and 8 ounce sizes. While the single-brew reservoir does lose some convenience points, it’s also what makes the machine so portable, so it has advantages, as well.

You’ll get a fast, flavorful brew with the Keurig K50. It has handy convenience features like a programmable auto-shutoff and a removable drip tray, with a large 48-ounce reservoir that lasts for 4 or more brews, depending on your cup size. Helpful indicator lights guide you through the process and show you exactly what size you’re making.

We also appreciate the controls on the K-Select. Along with cup size options, it has a “strong brew” feature for those who like a bolder cup. You can also program the automatic shut-off, though there’s no auto-on feature—its main disadvantage compared to the K-Elite above.

You can brew up to 10 ounces at a time with the K-Compact and it makes a cup in less than a minute. It fits oversized cups, too, including most travel mugs. The controls are intuitive and easy to read. We like the auto-off feature, too, though it’s on the longer side.

The K-Mini is one of the most energy-efficient of Keurig’s brewers. If you forget to turn it off, the 90-second auto-off will keep it from draining power. Its heating element takes a bit longer to get going but it still brews a fresh cup in under 5 minutes.

The K-Slim combines the narrow profile of the K-Mini with the options and capacity of Keurig’s full brewers. It’s just 5” wide but still has a 46-ounce reservoir, sparing you the annoyance of filling it for every brew. This does add some bulk to it, but less than you might think, and it still fits easily on a desk.

Keurig may be known primarily for its single-serve machines, but some of their coffee makers can brew up a whole pot. They can still give you a single cup when you want it—often in less than a minute—but offer more flexibility for entertaining and meetings.

Not all of the models below include a separate drip brewer, which is available on only 2 Keurig models (The K-Duo and K-Duo Essentials). They all go beyond single-serve brewing, however, so they can serve the same function as a drip brewer in your home.
