The entire Star Wars saga is built around the idea of hope. Without hope, we have nothing. Although the turns that J.J. Abrams took with the conclusion of one of the most beloved stories ever told were controversial among some fans, The Rise of Skywalker maintained the saga’s focus on the virtues of hope in times of trouble. So, we’ve updated this list with some new quotes.

When the Resistance finds itself hopelessly outmatched by the Final Order in The Rise of Skywalker, Poe wonders how the Rebels managed to overthrow the Empire with similarly threadbare resources in the original trilogy.

Based on this quote and a paraphrasing of it used in the opening crawl of Episode IX would be revealed to be The Spark of Hope. Of course, it wasn’t – it’s called The Rise of Skywalker instead. But that doesn’t make Poe Dameron’s “spark” quote any less iconic. It might be the most memorable quote from the sequel trilogy so far, because it sums up the Star Wars saga’s core belief. Felicity Jones’ character Jyn Erso is as great a beacon of hope as we’ve seen in the Star Wars saga. Yoda is not sad to be dying in Return of the Jedi. He just tells Luke, “When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be. The Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned.” These are the final words of a hopeful character. Yoda isn’t upset with the state of the galaxy as he’s leaving it, because he knows he can trust the strong-willed kid that he just trained to set things right.

And then when bad things happen again and Luke becomes the old guy on his deathbed and the galaxy is in bad shape again, he can teach the next generation of Jedi to fix it, just like Yoda did. It’s the circle of life. It’s his time. He has hope that, in death, he’ll become a Force ghost and enjoy eternal life.

While not fighting what you hate and instead saving what you love is the worst way to win a war, the ethos behind Rose Tico’s closing words in The Last Jedi is in keeping with the hopeful ideology of the Star Wars franchise. You do have to fight what you hate, because that’s literally what a war is. But you have to do that at the same time as saving what you love, with the latter taking priority over the former, because if you don’t protect those that are close to you, the bad guys will get them while your back is turned.

This is Vice Admiral Holdo’s take on the classic Poe Dameron quote, “We are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down.” She rejects his premise at first and simply demands that he follow her orders. But she later catches the bug of his intrepid determination and sees clearly that they are a “spark.” She says, “We’re the very last of the Resistance. But we’re not alone. Okay, this is an Ahsoka Tano quote. It’s not from any of the movies. But in many cases, the animated TV shows have been more interesting and insightful than the movies. And especially in regards to hope, this quote has it down, because this is what hope is all about. It’s about looking forward, not looking back. Whatever terrible thing happened yesterday – whether the bad guys defeated the good guys in a battle or a planet was destroyed by a space station or your dad cut your hand off – it doesn’t matter, because today is a new day, and with that comes a new beginning.

Han Solo isn’t interested in the odds. If there’s a one percent chance of survival, he doesn’t want to know about it. He just wants to go in there, do what he has to do, and hope for the best outcome. And that’s just it: hope. This is the message that Princess Leia records onto R2-D2’s hard drive before sending him to an escape pod with C-3PO and being captured by Stormtroopers. Artoo and Threepio end up landing on Tatooine, having a falling-out, going their separate ways, getting captured by the same Jawas, and being sold – conveniently as a pair – to a farm boy who happens to be friends with Obi-Wan Kenobi. A lot in the plot of the original Star Wars movie relies on sheer coincidence, but then that’s what hope is all about. Leia records that message in the hope that it will make its way to Obi-Wan – and it does.

Despite all the “midi-chlorians” nonsense that George Lucas crammed into the prequels, the Force is a feeling. It’s a spiritual notion that surrounds everyone in the galaxy. It is something that can be used for good and to bring peace, as the Jedi have done, or used for evil and to create destruction and disorder, as the Sith have done. Maintaining the balance of the Force is an uphill battle, and one that is never fully won, as Luke Skywalker learned the hard way. But that doesn’t mean the Jedi should give up, as Luke suggested, because then the Sith just win. The battle should continue to be fought – and that’s where hope comes in handy.

Although we continue to like Qualcomm"s low price-to-earnings outlook, the solid 2.5% dividend yield, and the efforts to diversify its revenue streams, we still want to be careful about semiconductors in case the inventory glut lasts longer than anticipated. So what will be new in the iPhone 15 and when is it coming? Well, the iPhone 15 family is expected to follow Apple tradition and release in the fall of 2023 with four models in tow, just like the iPhone 14 before it. We do expect some slight design tweaks, but the bigger changes will be on the inside.

As a quick summary, here are the models that we will get: first and cheapest, a 6.1-inch iPhone 15, then a larger, 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus with a bigger battery, and then again a 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro with a faster chip, better cameras and other advanced features, and the most expensive in the bunch will be the large and powerful

We expect Apple to stay this course with the iPhone 15 release date, so we can predict the unveiling to happen on Tue, Sept 12th, 2023, with an in-store release on Fri, Sept 22nd.

While we know quite a few details around the new features in the iPhone 15, we don"t yet have any insight into the prices, and frankly, with the current inflation that would be a bit hard to predict so early.

As for the iPhone 15 Ultra model name rebranding, it"s not certain yet, but Apple has steadily introduced new products with the "Ultra" name in 2022 and this might be the first "Ultra" iPhone. Nothing is set in stone, though, and it"s still possible that Apple just calls this next version just the iPhone 15 Pro Max, so keep that in mind.

Leaks so far agree that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models will continue having two cameras on the back, while the Pro and Ultra models will have additional cameras.

The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have a triple camera system with the third lens being a 3X zoom one. The iPhone 15 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to get a 5X or a 10X periscope style zoom camera, the first ever on an iPhone. We don"t yet know whether that camera will replace the currently used 3X zoom lens, or whether it will come as an additional (fourth) rear camera.

Last we heard, reports claimed Lante Optics, one of the companies that is rumored to supply Apple with the zoom lens, continues raising its capacity for the prism required to make this lens. In those same reports, analysts were not sure whether the periscope lens will arrive exclusively to the iPhone 15 Ultra model, or if the smaller 15 Pro model might get it too.

Another exciting new rumor mentions that Sony has developed a brand new sensor that Apple will use for the main camera of the iPhone 15. This new sensor is allegedly able to doubles the saturation signal level, meaning it will be able to gather twice as much light as current sensors. This in turn should help improve the dynamic range and bring down noise levels in photos.

Apple upped base storage of regular iPhone models to 128GB with the iPhone 13 release, and we expect it will stick with the same amount of storage on the iPhone 15 series as well.

This means that the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models are expected to start with 128GB storage. We are not yet sure about the Pro and Ultra versions, and there is a slight chance that Apple will kill the 128GB tier for those premium models and replace it with a 256GB one. However, we still think that is a distant possibility.

So far, we have seen no early drawings or renderings of the iPhone 15 series, but the elephant in the room has got to be the practically confirmed switch to a USB-C port from Lightning.

For years, Apple resisted using a USB-C port on iPhone, despite betting on a USB-C port for its iPads (first on an iPad Pro in 2018) and Macbooks (first in 2015), but new regulation from the European Commission might finally force it to make the switch. This would mean that users will need to get new cables and throw away their Lightning cables, something that many people may not like. However, we believe, that in the long term this will work out for the better as most gadgets these days use a USB-C port, so you won"t need to worry about getting different cables for your trips.

One of the most reliable Apple insiders, Mark Gurman, says that USB-C is "essentially a lock" for the iPhone 15. Renowned insider Ming-Chi Kuo also confirms this.

The latest talk on the grapevine suggests that while all iPhone 15 models will switch to USB-C, only the Pro models will supports faster transfer speeds while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will stick with the same slow, USB 2.0 speeds they had with the Lightning connector. The Pro models, however, are said to support at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, which would mean transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps, great for moving large files like ProRes video for example.

As for design, we expect Apple to stick with what works, which is iPhones made of glass with a metal frame. Expect to see glossy glass with aluminum frames on non-Pro models, and frosted finish with stainless steel frames on the 15 Pro.

Interestingly, the rumored iPhone 15 Ultra, is now expected to have a titanium frame rather than a stainless steel one. This would be a significant upgrade as titanium is a lighter weight material with superb scratch resistance, as brushed titanium hides such micro-scratches way better.

Another extremely interesting rumor suggests the higher-end iPhone 15 models will replace the physical volume and power buttons for solid-state ones. Yes, solid state buttons with no moving parts! This also means you will need to add two more taptic engines on each side of the phone that will help simulate the press of a real button when you touch these new haptic keys. And adding fuel to the fire, Apple supplier and maker of the Taptic Engine company Cirrus Logic teased its "stategic customer" will bring a new component in the second half of 2023! We are yet to hear how this will work when your phone is out of battery and what this would mean for case makers, but we are curious.

The Dynamic Island that Apple introduced with the 14 Pro models is likely to remain a Pro/Ultra feature in the iPhone 15 series as well, while the regular models are still likely to ship with the good old notch.

Currently, we don"t know much about the iPhone 15 color options. We expect Apple to stick with what it has now, possibly adding a couple of new color finishes for those who want to try something different.

Apple seems to have found the sweet spot for screen sizes and we don"t expect it to do any major changes, so you will have a 6.1-inch screen size on the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro, and then a 6.7-inch screen on the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Ultra.

The big question is around ProMotion. This technology was previously only available on the Pro models, and we are yet to hear whether Apple might change this in the 15 series, but we remain skeptical on that.

While we already mentioned the divide between the regular iPhone 15 models that are likely to use a slower chip, and the Pro versions with a faster, Apple A17 Bionic chip, there is one thing that all four models might share: the modem.

Expect to see the same Qualcomm made modem on all four iPhone 15 devices. Apple has had a frenemy status with Qualcomm, and it tried to break free and develop its own modems, but analysts claim that has proven to be more difficult than expected, so Qualcomm it is.

Satellite connectivity made a debut on the iPhone 14, and we expect Apple to have worked out the kinks of the technology and for it to work even better in iPhone 15.

Will Apple increase charging speeds with the advent of USB-C charging on the iPhone? We don"t have high hopes, but it"s reasonable to expect around 25W charging speeds on the smaller models, and 30W charging for the two larger models.

We expect this unfortunate trend to continue in the iPhone 15 series too, but that will depend on the complicated processor manufacturing environment. Chip maker TSMC that supplies Apple with processors kicked off 3nm production that could be used in the Apple A17 Bionic chipset, but it"s way too early to tell how this will scale, and that is one important factor that will determine the processors used in the iPhone 15 series.

You should wait for iPhone 15 if you are excited about USB-C. Using just one cable for all of your devices sounds genuinely exciting. Photo enthusiasts should also save up for the iPhone 15 model as that periscope lens might be a game-changer for photography and videography.

You should not wait for iPhone 15 if you don"t want to wait! The iPhone 15 launches in 2023! There are plenty of capable phones around, and you probably shouldn"t expect massive leaps in performance speed or charging either.

As Panasonic draws back from money-losing TVs - it makes the Viera TV brand - it’s looking to boost sales of smaller LCD panels used in tablets and mobile phones, a strategy also being pursued by rival Sharp Corp.

Small LCD panels will likely make up around 60 percent of the unit’s sales in the six months to March, double their first-half contribution, Yoshio Ito told Reuters.

Making money again from LCD panels will help cover continued losses from plasma displays, which are difficult to make in smaller sizes, Ito said, adding the plasma part of the business would still lose money in January-March.

Ito and other Panasonic managers are under pressure from new company president Kazuhiro Tsuga to raise their game. Tsuga has said that any division failing to hit at least the 5 percent operating margin target within three years will be shut or sold. From April, Tsuga will begin weeding out the weakest among Panasonic’s businesses - which churn out a vast range of goods from fridges and shavers to solar panels and batteries.

Sharp, which sold most of its advanced Sakai LCD plant, which makes TV panels, to Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd and converted another, at Kameyama, to making smaller displays, is fighting in the same space, supplying Apple with screens for the iPad and iPhone 5.

Panasonic’s audiovisual division, which includes Ito’s panel business, lost 2.1 billion yen ($26 million) in July-September as sales fell 7 percent from a year earlier. For the full year, the unit cut its operating profit forecast to 36 billion yen from a previous 121 billion yen.
