Elkay recommends continuous cleaning in maintaining your Elkay units. How often depends greatly on a number of factors, including how much traffic your fountain gets, where your unit is located, and water quality.
Elkay recommends using a soft cloth (we think microfiber would work well) along with mild dishwashing soap to spray and wipe down the unit. We recommend paying extra attention to the bubbler, push buttons, and other areas of the cooler that are often touched by users.
If you have the filter status LED light on the top portion of your cooler, (this will exist on all newer versions of Elkay ezH2O combination water cooler bottle filler units) then you need to reset your filter status to green.
Elkay Water Cooler Troubleshooting Water Stream from Bubbler is Too LowBelow is a numbered list of the most popular potential causes of low flow bubbler stream along with corrective actions to take to troubleshoot them.
If newly installed, you may also need to adjust the press bar adjustment screw. This is for EHF, WC, HAC, and EMABF Elkay water coolers. Refer to your unit’s manual for press bar adjustment screw directions and information.

This article is for facility maintenance technicians who service Elkay bottle filler units and need a resource for both how to change an Elkay ezH20 filter in a bottle filler, and how to reset the filter light on their Elkay bottle filler unit after a new filter is installed. This article shares a variety of educational materials related to Elkay ezH20 troubleshooting for filter light errors and reset, including the following:
This filter replacement and reset filter light video is shown on anElkay LZWSSM Surface Mounted Bottle Filling Station. The filter is theElkay Watersentry Plus Filter.
Remove the bottom panel from the unit. You will need a 5/32 bit on your driver to remove the two screws found on the underside of the bottle filler. In the video, we use ourMegaPro Vandal Proof Driver w/Bits.
Older Models:Older Elkay ezH2O bottle fillers will not automatically reset with a new filter installation. Here are step-by-step directions for resetting the filter state on older Elkay bottle filling stations, directly from Elkay.
The display will then scroll through 2 messages: ‘RST FLTR’ (Reset Filter Monitor) and ‘SETTINGS’ (the System Settings Sub Menu). Press the toggle switch once when the message reads ‘RST FLTR’. The display will change again to show ‘FLTR=0’.
Elkay ezH20 Green LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the green light, then your bottle filler is supplying filtered water from the unit. The green light indicates that the filter has between 100-21% of its filter life left. No action is needed when an Elkay bottle filler filter light is green.
Elkay ezH20 Yellow LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the yellow light, then your bottle filler is supplying filtered water from the unit. The yellow light indicates that the filter has between 20-1% of its filter life left. When the yellow filter light is present, then the facility maintenance technician should make plans to replace the filter soon by either ordering the replacement filter if a filter is not already in stock at their facility or scheduling a time in the near future to replace the filter if already in stock.
Elkay ezH20 Red LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the red light, then your bottle filler is not supplying filtered water from the unit. The Elkay filter status red means that the filter inside the units has either used 100% of its life or has been in use for over 12 months and that the unit is no longer providing users with filtered water. When the red filter light is present, then the facility maintenance technician should replace the filter as soon as possible.
Elkay ezH20 Flashing Red Light*Note: this will only occur on P-SKU Elkay units. When the filter light on your Elkay unit is flashing red, then there is an error. Either the filter has been installed backward or there is a problem with the unit’s NFC board or tag on the filter. The suggested action is to remove the filter and reinstall it 180 degrees from the original installation position.
Newer Model Missing or Incompatible Filter Error CodeNewer models like the Enhanced ezH20 bottle fillers, display different error codes when certain items are malfunctioning. The following error code: E013 is displayed when a filter is either missing or incompatible with the unit. When this filter related error code shows, Elkay recommends taking the following courses of action to fix the problem:

Yes. Elkay offers filter retrofit kits that can be added to many existing Elkay water delivery products. The EWF3000 Filter System Kit converts a non-filtered bottle filler into a filtered unit. Bottle filling stations are sweeping the nation’s schools, gyms, and public spaces as the cool (both literally and figuratively), sustainable way to hydrate. Beyond that, bottle filling stations, such as the Elkay models we’ll discuss in this article, actually improve water quality by removing lead and other contaminants, somethingstandard water fountainscan’t do. This is all thanks to the stations’Elkay EZH20 filters.
But in order to maintain the effectiveness of these machines, theElkay EZH20 filtermust be changed regularly. This process might seem intimidating, especially if you don’t have an on-site facilities team. To ease your worries and show how these filling stations are really the Wall-Es of the water technology world, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to replacing yourElkay EZH20 filterand keep your bottle filler working at its best.
A common question that arises when it comes to filters is how often a replacement should be installed. Changing the filter is all part of basicElkay EZH20 maintenance.Within the EZH2O family, each filling station has three colored lights that indicate each stage of the filter’s life cycle. Think of each of the indicator lights as your water filter’s traffic light; when the light is green, go right ahead and enjoy your purified water. When the light changes to yellow, the water will still be safe to drink but you should keep in mind that the filter has only 10% life left. Finally, at red, it"s time to pump the brakes and replace the filter.
After you’ve determined a Elkay EZH20 filter replacementis necessary, begin by removing the panel at the base of the fountain, otherwise known as the shroud. This can be done with a manual screwdriver to remove the four flat head screws under the filler that secure the shroud to the base.
NOTE: For bi-level filling stations, such as thisELKAY LZSTL8WSLP,the filter’s position can be slightly different from a single filler station. Both fillers use the same filter but the filter itself can be housed at the base of either cooler. Unless you are certain where the filter is located, you may need to remove both shrouds in order to find it. Once you locate the filter, the process for switching it out is the same as a single filler station.
In order to remove the original Elkay water fountain filter, grab the top of the filter, closest to the filler, and give it a firm twist counterclockwise. This should loosen the filter from the filler and allow you to fully remove it. Remove the filter carefully, as it will likely contain slimy residue. Dispose of the filter appropriately.
With the older filter removed, you’ll now be able to replace the filter with a new one. Nearly all EZH20 models use anElkay51300c replacement filter. The only exception to this is the LMASMB Elkay Battery which uses a 56192C filter. For your convenience, you can buy these filters in single or multipacks, such as those available throughwww.bottlefillingstations.com.
After unpacking the newElkay 51300c replacement Filter, remove the filter’s red top. Make sure to keep the now open portion facing up. Next, take the opened filter and push it up and into the filter housing space where you removed the old filter. Once inside, begin to move the filter into place by twisting it clockwise until the filter is securely fastened. You’ll know the filter is in place when the label is visible, meaning that it faces out as opposed to facing the wall. If this is not the case, turn the filter around 180° so that you are able to see the label.
Note: If you have an older Elkay model, such as theElkayLZS8WSLK,you will likely have to follow up theElkay EZH20 filter replacementprocess by manually resetting both the bottle counter and filter indicator light. This requires that you remove the head panel of the bottle filler (this is the flat, plastic portion directly above the filling area that covers the inside of the filler’s upper portion). Using a manual screwdriver, remove the two screws located on either side of the head panel. Once unfastened, lift panel up to expose the inside of the fountain. There, you should be able to see a small grey box on the right hand side of the filler. On this box, there is a small button. This button is responsible for adjusting the the visual components of the filler such as the bottle counter and filter indicator lights. By pushing the button for two seconds, you’ll notice that the front display will change. When the display reaches “RST FLTR”, push the button again. When you see “FLTR =”, press the button one more time so the display reads “FLTR=0”. This should automatically change the filter indicator light from red to green. Assuming you would also like to reset the bottle counter, press the button down again until the display reads "RST BCNT". Push the button again to display the current bottle count number, for example “BC0007864”, and then depress the button once more to zero-out the bottle counter, resetting it. Your bottle filler is now reset! Just reattach the head panel and screw it back into place.
And that’s all there is to it! YourElkay EZH20 filter replacementis complete. That wasn’t so bad, was it? Now that you’ve changed anElkayfilter once, you’ll complete all futureElkay EZH20 filter replacementswith ease. But, if you do run into any issues withElkay EZH20 maintenance or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us for any clarification. Happy filtering!

Elkay is a family-owned business headquartered in Chicago. They’ve been around for over 100 years, since the 1920s. Elkay has a rock-solid reputation in the industry as a high-quality sink maker with affordable prices.
Stainless Steel: Won’t chip or Crack, Durable, Recyclable, high-quality steel, heat & stain-resistant, easy maintenance, long life expectancy. But it can rust if exposed to corrosive fluids (bleach) for long periods.
Elkay is an excellent brand to go with if you want something that looks good, lasts, and is easy on the wallet. Their sinks hold up well against daily use. Each material has its own unique qualities that enable them to stand up to everyday use in your kitchen.
You’d naturally assume that high-quality materials would mean steeper prices, but this is one of the areas that Elkay differs from their competitors. Although their sinks are made with high-quality materials, they are affordable.
Elkay has lifetime warranties on most of its residential sinks. Their warranty does not cover shipping or installation damages, so you’ll want to make sure to have insurance on your shipments through the shipping company just in case.
Elkay is undeniably one of the oldest and most well-established companies in the USA when it comes to the manufacturing of sinks. With a family pedigree still behind Elkay, you can be assured you’re getting quality products.
Elkay is at the head of sustainable materials for kitchen sinks. Their Quartz and steel sinks are all made from 60% of recycled materials, making them eco-friendly but not lacking in quality. They are at the head of producing more eco-friendly, sustainable, and innovative sinks.
Elkay takes pride in providing quality products as well as quality customer service. They are easy to get a hold of if you need replacement parts or a full replacement.
SILGRANT(Granite Composite Material)-Comes in a variety of colors, Durable, Resistant against High-heat, scratches, acids & water stains (when properly sealed), long-lasting, Naturally sound-dampening, Color will not fade, easy maintenance. Some things to watch out for: Heavy( Requires additional support), Requires annual sealing, may chip, Harder surface (can break glasswares).
Stainless Steel-Won’t chip or Crack, Durable, Recyclable, high-quality steel, heat & stain-resistant, easy maintenance, long life expectancy. But it can rust if exposed to corrosive fluids (bleach) for long periods, loud, limited colors and styles, may scratch or dent.
Silgrant was created by Blanco, and any granite composite material comes from them. They have patented rights to the formula that makes Granite composite sinks and features. Granite composite and Quartz composite sinks are similar in durability and range of color options, as well as their maintenance needs.
For Elkay, their Quartz Classic ELGU2522BK0 has been ranked as their best. Both sinks are high-quality and durable. Elkay takes the win for affordability in this battle, though.
Elkay is an American company that manufactures and distributes kitchen sinks. It pioneered the modern method of pressing stainless steel sinks from sheets of metal. It still manufactures some of its sinks in the U.S., but most are now made overseas. It also designs and sells faucets to accompany its sinks but does not manufacture any of its faucets. They are made by contract factories in China, Taiwan, Israel, and Italy.
Elkay"s residential faucets are generally more expensive than competing imported brands of similar quality and design. When its residential faucets were modest modifications of its heavy-duty commercial faucets, we felt the pricing was justified. Today, we see little added value in the company"s residential faucets that justifies the line"s generally higher price tag. The one saving feature is its excellent warranty and exceptional customer service.
Founded in 1920 by Leopold and Louis Katz with Ellef Robarth, Elkay, headquartered in the Chicago area for over 90 years, is a Katz family-owned and -managed global player in the kitchen and bath world. It owns the Elkay brand of sanitary ware, faucets, and bath accessories, and also Medallion and Yorktowne cabinetry — all major brands, with eight factories in the U.S. — and the Revere line of plumbing fixtures.
The company did not begin producing its signature product, stainless sinks, until 1935. In 1948 it developed a method of die-drawing stainless steel to make sinks. The innovation cut manufacturing costs in half. Elkay"s die-draw process is now the standard, used throughout the world to produce stainless steel products of all kinds.
With manufacturing facilities in Broadview, Illinois; Lumberton, North Carolina; and Ogden, Utah, Elkay manufactures many of its sanitary-ware products (toilet, sinks, etc.) domestically. But, it also owns Zhuhai Daya S.E.Z., a manufacturer based in China, and E.B. Tecnica Mexicana, Mexico"s largest sink manufacturer located in San Luis Potosi. These provide stainless steel sinks for their home markets but also supply Elkay with sinks for sale in the U.S. and Canada.
Faucets have always been somewhat a sideline for Elkay, offered to complement and round out its main product, kitchen sinks. At one time it did manufacture faucets in North America but those days are gone. We are no longer able to identify a single faucet manufactured or even assembled by Elkay in the U.S. or Canada.
Most are now manufactured in China, Taiwan, and Israel and shipped to Elkay in the box and ready to sell. Consequently, we have re-classified Elkay from a U.S.-based Manufacturer of domestic faucets to a Specifier of imported faucets. A Specifier designs its faucets and generally owns the molds from which the faucets are made but does not manufacture or assemble them. The actual production is done by other companies under contract.
makes most of Elkay"s stainless steel kitchen faucets. It also sells its own line of stainless faucets in Asia under the Bestyle and JustMe brands, primarily in Asia.
Zhejiang Jinyuan Copper Mfg. Co. Ltd. despite its name, manufactures in brass. It provies commercial pre-rinse faucets to Elkay. It also supplies faucets to the of Canada.
of Taiwan, which sells its own T.A.P. brand of touchless faucets in Asia, makes most of Elkay"s extensive line of automatic faucets for commercial and residential applications.
However, Sloan Valve Company, Inc. of Franklin Park, IL, which manufactures in the U.S. and China, provides four of Elkay"s automatic faucets, all of which appear to have been made in China.
Elkay has never been a name that immediately springs to mind when thinking about residential faucets. But, if you are building a hotel, restaurant, or public restroom, it may be the first catalog you reach for. It has, in the last few years, begun adding more contemporary styles to its faucet line but historically its designs have always been fairly conservative but so are most faucets, and most buyers prefer traditional or transitional styling which is Elkay"s strong suit.
Elkay faucets, historically, have been justly famous for their reliability. Since the change from domestic to foreign manufacturing, we have begun to see some decline in the quality of the company"s faucets. They are not the durable, extra-heavy-duty faucets they once were.
One change we especially don"t like is the more expansive use of plastic in essential parts of the company"s residential faucets. The pull-down spray head of the Avado faucet, shown at left above, for example, is plastic. In fact, Elkay does not sell a pull-down, pull-out, or spring-type faucet spray in its residential line that does not include a plastic spray head. For an all brass sprayer, you have to look to Elkay"s commercial faucet lines.
Elkay seldom asks for any proof of purchase document, figuring that you probably would not ask for replacement parts for a faucet you don"t actually own, and generally is willing to take your word that you are the original purchaser of the faucet.
Warranty service on our test faucet was hassle-free and very quick. The Elkay agent was able to identify our model faucet and the part that needed to be replaced, even though our tester deliberately tried to sow doubt and confusion. We give Elkay customer service a thumbs up and a customer service score of 4.5. Anything over 4.0 is very good.
The Better Business Bureau agrees with our conclusion, having graded Elkay with an A+ for zero customer complaints about the company in the past three years — which means that customer problems are handled effectively within the company so that customers do not feel the need to seek outside assistance from the BBB with problem resolution.
We rate Elkay faucets a fair value on a scale of very poor, poor, fair, good, very good, and excellent. The prices are high compared to competing faucets of equal quality, and especially high for what are now, with a few exceptions, Asian faucets
In the old days, when Elkay still made its own faucets, its higher prices could be justified by the extraordinary heavy-duty commercial construction of its products. Today, that"s no longer the case.
Elkay faucets are still well designed and well made but not any better made than the high-quality residential faucets offered by such diverse companies as
yet Elkay faucets still sell for prices 30% to 50% higher than these competing brands. The sole saving factor is Elkay"s excellent warranty and exceptional warranty service.
We are continuing to research the company. If you have experience with Elkay faucets, good, bad, or indifferent, we would like to hear about it, so please contact us or post a comment below.
