It is the cutest display for the Raspberry Pi. It features a 3.5" display with 480x320 16-bit color pixels and a resistive touch overlay. It"s designed to fit nicely not only to the Pi Model A or B but also works perfectly fine with the Model B+/2B/3B/4B.

*When working with Raspberry Pi 4, for the system image of Raspberry Pi after 2021-10-30, for example on Bullseye, please modify "dtoverlay = vc4-kms-v3d" to "dtoverlay = vc4-fkms-v3d" in the config file, otherwise it may fail to start. But on Buster, please comment out "dtoverlay = vc4-fkms-V3D" by adding #.

We will also have some tutorials on what can be done with PiScreen, most will be outside of the box and what you normally wouldn’t use a LCD for, some of these are already available at www.ozzmaker.com

3.5inch RPi LCD (A) and 3.5inch RPi LCD (B) are hardware compatible with each other (uses different driver), and can be mutually substituted in most cases. (A) for low cost ver. while (B) for IPS ver. with better displaying.

Why the LCD doesn"t work with my Raspbian? To use the LCD with the Raspberry Pi official image, driver (SPI touch interface only) should be installed first. Please refer to the user manual.

However, for the first testing, you may want to use our image directly (if provided). Why the LCD still doesn"t work with the Waveshare provided image?Make sure the hardware connection is correct and connects fine.

The PWR will keep on and the ACT will keep blinking when the Raspberry Pi starts up successfully, in case both of the two LEDs keep on, it is possible that the image was burnt incorrectly OR the TF card was in bad contact.Which power supply should I use?It is recommended to use a 5V/3A power adapter for the Raspberry Pi other than USB connection, otherwise the Pi may failed to start up because the PC"s USB port might have not enough power.

Since the first-generation Raspberry Pi released, Waveshare has been working on designing, developing, and producing various fantastic touch LCDs for the Pi. Unfortunately, there are quite a few pirated/knock-off products in the market. They"re usually some poor copies of our early hardware revisions, and comes with none support service.

The touch screen LCD is ready with 320×480 resolution, 50 FPS (Frame per second). Resistive touch control is being supported by the Raspberry Pi OS or Raspbian (directly-pluggable). However, we will still need to install the driver for graphic display :)

However, there is a dedicated case/enclosure and a low-profile heatsink with a fan for this LCD to fit perfectly on the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. The case has an opening for the LCD, and the low-profile heatsink with a fan keeps the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B protected and cool! You get a perfect console :) Don"t forget to remove the top lid/cover of the enclosure for the 3.5-inch LCD.

Note: The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, 3.5-inch Enclosure, and the Low-Profile Heatsink with a fan are NOT INCLUDED in this product, please get them separately.

As we understand, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B delivers great performance and of course, more power will generate more heat as of all CPU :) So we need a way to install an additional heatsink to dissipate the extra heat. It will be better if we can have the option to add a cooling fan for active cooling. Well, this 3.5-inch touch screen LCD comes ready with the heatsink and cooling fan for you to use with the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. it solves all the concerns.

The 3.5-inch touch screen uses the GPIO on the Raspberry Pi board, so it stretches out 2 pins as the power to supply the cooling fan on the low profile heatsink, and keep the Raspberry Pi board cool!

Note: The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, 3.5-inch Enclosure, and the Low-Profile Heatsink with a fan are NOT INCLUDED in this product, please get them separately.

The Graphic driver is provided and can be downloaded for Raspberry Pi OS/Raspbian. It also supports Ubuntu and Kali Linux. Do follow the steps here: http://www.lcdwiki.com/MHS-3.5inch_RPi_Display

Note: Please use the recommended system for the touch screen. If another system is used, it may not have the touch function or may not work. You need to configure it yourself. Because there are many systems that the Raspberry Pi can use, we can’t make every system compatible with the touch screen.

Same size as the Raspberry Pi, perfectly compatible and can be directly inserted into any version of the Raspberry Pi (Raspberry Pi ZeroW, A, A+, B, B+, 2B, 3B, 3B+,4B)

(1) Log in to the Raspberry Pi terminal(SSH remote login user name and password, see the image download of the Download Resources) (Q:The ssh can"t connect?)

(2) Log in to the Raspberry Pi terminal(SSH remote login user name and password, see the image download of the Download Resources) (Q:The ssh can"t connect?)

(3) Copy the local driver to the running Raspberry Pi system and execute the following command to extract it (can be copied by SD card or FileZilla software)

(1) After the LCD driver is installed, the system will automatically restart. After the startup is successful, the LCD can display and touch normally,

B. Ubuntu-18.04 system ssh connection may fail, the specific solution is shown in RaspberryPi Ubuntu-mate-18.04 ssh connection failure solution description

C. The retropie-rpi1_zero system cannot log in via SSH (no network port and wifi module). You need to copy the driver through the serial port. For details, see RaspberryPi Zero open serial instructions

After execution, the driver will be installed. The system will automatically restart, and the display screen will rotate 90 degrees to display and touch normally.

I purchased a 3.5" Touch Screen Display TFT (320*480 pixel LCD) for Raspberry Pi B+ from eBay, just £19 delivered from a UK supplier, turned up promptly and works out of the box as described following the simple instructions which involved writing a pre-configured image of Raspbian to a card. So I am impressed so far!

However not been entirely content with using someone else"s OS image from a security perspective (as I don"t know the origin) I was wondering if anyone else had purchased one of these and had perhaps pursued finding and installing the drivers themselves onto Raspbian? I could not seem to find the drivers online and so wondered if anyone had tackled this already?

Oh wow, that sounds great I can see the "XPT2046" listed on that page in a couple of places (despite the resolutions being slightly different I"m guessing it is the controller & software compatibility that counts). Any further pointers on how I make use of this code if it embedded in the latest release of Raspbian? Will there be an application that will provide easy access to enable drivers for possible LCD models or is it something I will need to enable / tweak configs on the shell for? (I don"t mind doing that providing I know what I should be tweaking)

These displays are made by WaveShare. They are great but the correct modules for the touchscreen are hard to find. I found the link to their support site through a German forum. It has a download to a complete installation procedure for all their displays. Downloading is painfully slow but installing is a piece of cake (although installation time depends on the speed of your SD card). The procedures finishes itself with a reboot. Just wait for the reboot. Worked perfect for my 5" 800x480 display, the Notro module didn"t operate correctly with that display. Hope this is the correct info.

I got this screen from Ebay , i know why you pay less now! Anyway the screen i got working fine, but i cann"t get the touchscreen to work. The touch screen is an XPT2046 controller. I have tried the above downloaded the distro from waveshare but it didnt boot from the disk image (I am probably doing something stupid being a noob)

https://github.com/swkim01/waveshare-dt ... verlay.dts is the overlay for waveshare 3.5", but I"m not sure if it"s in the overlays provided as default. Check in the overlays folder of the boot partition. It also needs to be setup in a config file.

Hi guys I know this is an older thread now but I figured i"d update it with my experience with this screen. I got the screen at a discount so figured it would be a good screen to play around with for one of my other projects. After getting it all setup I realized that this screen is a knockoff from waveshare"s screen and that caused a lot of confusion at first. So after a bit of time I got it all figured out and made a few videos of my experience so I figured i"d put them here for future explorers.. enjoy.
