Beaverton, Ore–VTech Communications, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of VTech Holdings Ltd. (HKSE: 303) and the largest U.S. cordless phone manufacturer, today introduced its latest selection of innovative home communication systems designed to deliver the best sound quality, security, range and style in cordless phones, all priced under US$100.

VTech"s most feature-rich phone, the new DS6421-3 system, allows consumers to answer cellular calls with the quality and reliability of a landline phone, while delivering enhanced features such as push-to-talk (PTT) "walkie-talkie" capability for immediate communication throughout the house and HD audio for the clearest call experience.

For superior sound quality, VTech"s latest cordless phones combine HD Audio with an equalizer to select from four different audio profiles, plus DECT 6.0 technology that prevents wireless interference from other electronic devices. In addition, VTech phones now offer Voice Announce Caller ID, which audibly broadcasts the name or number of the caller to enable easier call screening without rushing to look at the phone display.

"Consumers want a reliable, comfortable and clear communication solution in the home, and integration with the mobile experience is an added bonus to unify and improve home calling capabilities," said Matt Ramage, senior vice president, product management, VTech Communications, Inc. "Our goal with the DS6421-3 system, as well as all our 2011 models, is to provide products that answer the lifestyle needs of consumers, whether they are a busy family of five or sophisticated on-the-go urban dwellers."

For consumers who rely on mobile phones for communication outside the home but want a better home calling experience, the VTech DS6421-3 phone system (MSRP: US$99.95) is the answer. With VTech"s Connect-to-Cell™ capability, mobile phone users can access the benefits of a landline system – no dropped calls and clear sound quality – by using the DS6421-3 to answer cellular calls and to make outbound calls using cellular minutes while at home. In addition, cord-cutters who have cellular service only can still receive the benefits of a multiple-handset cordless system with the DS6421-3.

Users can improve the cellular signal in the home by strategically placing the DS6421-3 base where reception is the strongest, and then putting the extra DS6421 handsets throughout the home to avoid the mad dash to answer calls while the cell phone is charging.

The DS6421-3 system can register up to four cell phones, and two cellular phones can be connected to the system at one time. Working as a virtual two-line system, users can talk on a cellular call on one handset, while another handset is used simultaneously for a landline call. For added convenience, the DS6421-3 can download up to 6,000 cell phonebook directories into the system.

Expandable with up to 12 handsets, or 10 cordless handsets (DS6401, MSRP: US$19.95) and two cordless headsets (IS6100, MSRP: US$49.95), the DS6421 series also includes PTT "walkie-talkie" functionality for the quickest communication possible throughout the home. PTT is ideal for large homes, home-based businesses or small offices by enabling instant voice communication through the handset speakerphone to make household announcements or have one-to-one conversations with someone in another room.

VTech"s new LS6475-3 (MSRP: $99.95) is the perfect solution for anyone from busy moms with their hands full, to work-at-home professionals who need extra hands to juggle work and chores while on calls. The LS6475-3 enables users to answer calls from a comfortable cordless headset(IS6100) mounted directly on the base and conference conversations while accomplishing other tasks, for a great hands-free calling experience. For the design-conscious, the LS6475-3 also features enhanced cosmetics with a thin, curved, high-gloss metallic handset featuring piano-style keys. The system comes with two cordless handsets and a speakerphone, in addition to the headset, providing users with a variety of call options.

Also featuring Voice Announce Caller ID, HD audio and PTT, the LS6475-3 is expandable with up to 12 handsets (LS6405, MSRP: US$19.95) or 10 handsets and 2 cordless headsets (IS6100, MSRP: US$49.95). VTech also offers the LS6475-2 (MSRP: US$59.95) system with two handsets instead of three.

VTech continues to offer modern-styled systems with the most robust features at the best price. With DECT 6.0 technology, the CS6419 and the CS6429-2 cordless phones provide interference-free sound quality along with the added benefit of built-in handset speakerphone.

Priced as low as US$19.95, the VTech CS series features comfortable curved handsets, a sleek keypad with larger keys, a bright backlit green LCD display and a 50-name and number phonebook directory. For added convenience, the CS series is expandable up to five handsets(CS6409, MSRP: US$14.95) with the ability to use intercom, transfer and conference between handsets.

Las Vegas ? Cordless phone vendors, cognizant of the success of cellular phones, have come to CES with a number of home phones that look, feel, and act like cutting-edge mobile phones, minus only the monthly subscription fee.

Large color LCDs with icon-based menus, photo caller ID, downloadable ringers, and cellular designs will be sprinkled liberally throughout the higher end of many vendors" 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz digital lines. Here"s a look at what"s in store at CES:

Audiovox: The T5815 5.8GHz digital spread spectrum (DSS) system, expandable to four handsets, bundles an extra handset in the box and features an integrated telephone answering device (ITAD), handset speakerphone, caller ID, and ten melody ringtones at a suggested $119.95.

Conair: Four new 5.8 GHz analog introductions under the Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone brand join the company"s existing lineup of 5.8GHz digital product. All the models feature three-line backlit display, and the ITADs offer 15 minutes of recording time.

Uniden: A flip-out cordless handset resembles a flip-out cellular phone. The 5.8GHz digital ELT560 (at a suggested $149.99) is expandable to ten handsets and features a full-color LCD display, five recordable ringers, handset speakerphone, three-way conferencing, handset-to-handset call transfer, and USB cable for loading digital photos into the handset for photo caller ID (up to 30 unique photos).

A step-up ELT595 builds on the 590 by adding Bluetooth capability for using a Bluetooth-enabled cellphone to make or receive cellular calls using the cordless handset. The cellphone is placed alongside the base unit without a docking station, enabling the cell-to-landline conversion. The ELT595 also works with Bluetooth headsets for hands-free calling. Other 595 features include ITAD and four-way conferencing for a suggested $249.99.

The company will also introduce two new accessory 2.4GHz digital handsets that will be backward compatible with existing expandable systems. The DCX700 at $59.99 works with the company"s new DCT7-series phones and will be backwards compatible with the DCT6 and DMX series phones. The DCX770, also $59.99, works with the current DMX7-series and is backward compatible with the existing DCT6 and DCT7 product lines.

VTech: All new models ship in May. Under its own brand, the company will offer two 5.8GHz digital multihandset systems with photo caller ID capability. The i5858, for a suggested $179.95, is expandable to six handsets and features caller ID, a 65K pixel color LCD with animated graphical icons, recordable ring tones, handset speakerphone, and ability to download contact information from Microsoft Outlook via USB connection.

Under its AT&T brand, the company will introduce an all-digital product lineup in 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. The E2715 is a 2.4GHz digital two-handset bundle featuring caller ID and handset speakerphone for a suggested $59.95. The step-up E2725 adds an ITAD for a suggested $79.95.

The E2520 2.4GHz multihandset system is expandable to eight handsets and features caller ID, dial-in base, handset speakerphone, and a graphical LCD in the handset for a suggested $79.95.

Motorola Cordless: Room Monitor, Cellular Bridge Greg Scoblete Las Vegas ? A new series of Motorola-brand 2.4GHz digital frequency-hopping, multihandset phones includes add-on modules for cell/land-line calling and audio/video room monitoring.

The SD4500 series" monitoring module is an audio/video camera that is registered to the unit"s base and displays live audio and video to the unit"s accessory handsets.

Panasonic Phone Taps Into Security System By Greg Scoblete Las Vegas ? A host of new technologies in Panasonic"s cordless lineup includes the industry"s first cordless system to control a home security system.

A host of other new technologies for Panasonic includes color LCD screens, icon-based menus, photo caller ID on a 1.6-inch LCD screen, lighted antennas, and a voice changer feature that changes the voice of the user in three ways ?high, deep, or "fun."

The security-system-controlling phone, the $199-suggested KXTG2970B, controls professionally installed ADT security systems. The phone, however, will be sold through retail and not direct by ADT. It can work with pre-existing ADT alarm systems or spur consumers to buy a security system because it will eliminate installation of a wall panel, said national marketing manager Wayne Borg.

The phone"s corded base station features a keypad for controlling the alarm system"s functions; the included cordless handset can also perform several alarm functions. The 2970 also lets ADT service reps establish a two-way speaker phone conversation.
