nzxt kraken z73 360mm liquid cooler with lcd display made in china
I bought this to use on an nVidia RTX A5000 GPU on a high performance workstation used for complex CAD designs/rendering and high performance gaming. My GPU was running out of the box at 65C. While it"s rated up to 90C, I didn"t want to risk reducing the performance or life of it, so I figured this would probably be overkill and ran with it.
When I received it, I was disappointed to see that it wasn"t in any external packaging, just a label slapped on the retail box, and that box had seen some abuse along the way. Pulling out the cooler, it looked good, so I went ahead with the install. After hooking everything up, I turned on my PC only to watch the temp immediately start to climb. Had I have just trusted it, I"d have run the risk of burning up my very expensive GPU. Fortunately I was watching the gauge and able to cut the power fast. The water pump on the unit was dead.
I went through the manufacturer and got the unit replaced, only to have the exact same experience with the second. At that point, I gave up and just returned it. I ended up picking up a lightly used X73 (same cooler, but no digital temp display) for half the price that has worked perfectly. With it, I"ve been able to run my GPU at a steady 99% load for extended periods without hitting higher than 35C.
