All3DP.COM "We heard great things about the rigidity and print quality of the Phrozen Shuffle before we got our hands on one. Those two things are assured. It is a hefty beast of a printer that outputs stellar prints at high detail"

The Phrozen Shuffle can be connected to your network via Ethernet, or WiFi (included) and is controllable through your browser of choice. Regardless of your operating system.

In SLA system, light intensity, wavelength, and optical path highly influences printing quality and efficiency. Conventional LCD 3D printer tends to use thumb-size COB LED with Fresnel film. It is still not good enough for overall uniformity, especially for large area & edge area. Their major target is to reduce the cost. To further improve it, Phrozen"s ParaLED Optical Engine uses LED array matrix with the size same as LCD panel. Moreover, we narrow down the LED emission angle to make it as parallel as possible. That way, we can increase the efficiency that light pass through LCD and, therefore, greatly improve printing speed and quality.

Looking on the market, you will see Z-axis of many 3D printers are not fixed on top (or just simply put a cap on it). Overall Z-axis design is based on simple optical axis and rail shaft. These will cause severe wobbling during 3D printing process, especially for large & high models. That"s why Phrozen team uses Twin Linear Rail, Ball Screw, and Ball Bearing with Aluminum-CNC part to on our Z-axis. That can assure linearity and minimize impact of loaded force during the printing process. This concept has been widely verified in our previous model Phrozen Make XL, 8.9 inch LCD 3D Printer. Now we adopt same design again on our Phrozen Shuffle XL.

Taiwanese brand Phrozen started getting some recognition after successfully crowdfunding the manufacturing of its first 3D printer on Kickstarter. The device was called “Make”.

Taiwanese manufacturer unveiled more serious solutions after the end of the campaign – three LCD 3D printers: Phrozen Shuffle and two higher end models with XL and 4K model names.

Phrozen Shuffle uses an LCD panel with a 2К resolution and proprietary optical module named ParaLED, which consists of several UV LED lights and focusing lenses.

Another feature that significantly improves print quality is a rigid and stable Z-axis design. Instead of cylindrical guide rails and wobbly mounts that can often be found in other printers, the Shuffle uses twin linear rail and ball screw with bearings.

You can prepare your 3D model for printing using any program you want. Phrozen’s engineers recommend using MeshMixer, ChiTu and their own slicer software called PZ Slice.

Phrozen Shuffle can work with both proprietary and third party photopolymer resins. We recommend Harz Labs products, on their website you can find profiles for their whole range of available resins.

Practical and functional design, consistent high quality of the printed models, a relatively low price compared to the printers with similar specifications – these qualities make Phrozen Shuffle one of the best resin 3D printers of 2019. The printers of this series are perfect for jewelers, dentists and other professionals that need precisely and accurately printed prototypes.

The Taiwanese company, Phrozen, is well known for its line of affordable SLA printers. These printers have a wide application in jewellery and dentistry and are popular with makers that love high-precision printing as well as resin manufacturers.

One of the Phrozen lines of printers is the Shuffle. In this guide, we’ll go through the specs, features, and quality of print to expect of the Phrozen Shuffle.

One of the unique features of the Phrozen 3D printer is that the optical path of light stream is up to date with current technology. As a result, printing is done more accurately and faster over the whole printing area.

We also couldn’t help but notice the printer’s stable Z-axis design.  Unlike some competing printers that have cylindrical guide rails and unstable mounts, the Shuffle uses twin linear rail and ball screw with bearings.

Before you start printing with the Phrozen Shuffle, you need to level the bed. This is done for manually and takes about 5 minutes. The process is only done once, during the initial setup of the printer.

The Phrozen SLA 3D printer has a black body and a red-tinted cover. This stylish printer can be used for engineering, dentistry and jewelry industries.

The SLA 3D printer has a 2K LCD panel and proprietary optical module named ParaLED. The optical consists of dozens of focusing lenses and UV LED lights.

The Phrozen Shuffle resin 3D printer has a build volume of 120 x 68 x 200 mm (4.7 x 2.7 x 7.9 inches). While this space is not large, it is enough for printing small to medium-sized objects. If you want to print large models, you may need to print them several different parts and later join them.

The Phrozen Shuffle is a resin 3D printer that is compatible with resins from different brands. This way, you can be creative with your models and use any resin that will give you the best results.

The Phrozen Shuffle 3D printer is fully enclosed and has a dual Z-axis linear rail with a ball screw driver. The printer is well-built and highly precise.

The Shuffle prints layers at 10 microns. Therefore, you can be sure that your prints will be highly detailed. Check the level of detail realized in the model below printer using the Phrozen Shuffle:

The printer is run by the NanoDLP host/control software. The software allows the machine to be operated independently through the onboard LCD touchscreen.

The Phrozen Shuffle uses NanoDLP software to slice 3D models directly onboard. The software works on the major OS platforms (Windows, MacOS and Linux) and supports a wide variety of file formats, including ZIP, SLC and STL.

All Phrozen products purchased from TOP3DSHOP comes with a one-year warranty. However, components and consumables such as the building platform, FEP film, LCD screen and the paraLED are not covered by the one-year warranty.

The Phrozen Shuffle and Shuffle Lite have similar features and mostly work in the same way. In this section, we’ll highlight some few differences between the printers.

Both printers use LCD-SLA technology. The printers have an LED panel made of ultraviolet diodes that produce the light needed to fuse the liquid resin. Above the LED panel is an LCD matrix that displays the printed layers. The matrix is  5.5 inches and has a resolution 2560 by 1440 pixels. That is, the XY accuracy is 47 micrometers.

On the other hand, the Shuffle Lite has just one MGN15 rail and a regular 8mm single thread threaded shaft. With this printer, the maximum height is 17 cm.

The Shuffle 2019 has a steel casing on top, as well as a steel lid that folds upward by the handle. In front, there is a small window made of red transparent plastic.

Like almost any photopolymer printer, the Shuffle 2019 and Lite need to be calibrated before first printing. This is also done quite standardly. Loosen the 4 platform screws.

Phrozen has its own slicer – PZSlice. But to call it good, the language does not turn. Even from the loading screen itself, you can see that it has very big problems with the design, everything looks clumsy and not neat.

There is another slicer that supports Phrozen printers – Formware, which is good and fast. The support in it is perhaps one of the best in general. But, unfortunately, it is paid.

Within a month, you can use it for free to check, and then you have to pay. But in our opinion, it’s worth it. By the way, with the Phrozen Sonic printer there is already a license for this slicer.

According to the manufacturer, this resin should have high strength and properties comparable to ABS-plastic. We did not check its physical and mechanical properties, so let’s just look at the quality. Shuffle 2019 printed knobs for encoders and one more detail, its purpose is not known to us.

Exposure times for all HarzLabs resins on Phrozen printers are available on the HarzLabs official website. For this reason, we will not indicate them for each model.

And another extremely interesting test was performed with this resin at Shuffle 2019. The dentist sent us models that we printed in two positions, standing upright and tilted at 35-40 degrees.

Dental Cast Cherry was the next to try . We have no opportunity to burn out and cast metal products. But we printed models that were created precisely in order to burn them later. A clasp prosthesis was printed at Shuffle 2019.

As for the Phrozen printers, as expected, they print about the same as their competitors with similar specifications. The proprietary design of Paraled 2.0 with a unique lens system that provides clear uniform illumination across the entire print area favorably differs from the cheaper Phrozen printers. I was also impressed by the advanced convenient software filling, which allows you to store print profiles directly in the printer and use them for already cut models.

If we talk about the difference between the Lite and 2019 versions, we did not notice any significant differences in the quality of the printed models. However, the Shuffle 2019 is structurally made more reliable and in the process of prolonged intensive use this will affect the durability of the printer.

Generally, there is no significant difference between the Shuffle and Shuffle Lite 3D printers. There are no major differences in the quality of the prints. However, the Shuffle is more robust and reliable. Therefore, it will last longer over intensive use.

Also, the printers are different in the Z-axis design. The Shuffle has two rails while the Lite has one rail. However, despite the Lite having one rail, we did not encounter any printing problems.  The layers are stacked evenly on both printers.

The Phrozen Shuffle costs just under $1500 (check current price here). We find this to be an affordable price considering the functionality and print resolution that the machine achieves.

The Phrozen Shuffle resin 3D printer is practical and has a functional design. The printer produces high-quality models and is quite affordable, compared to printers with similar specifications.

From our tests, the Phrozen Shuffle is one of the best resin 3D printers on the market. We recommend this printer to dentists, jewelers, or other makers that need precisely and accurately printed prototypes.

Now a new model has fallen into my hands, the Phrozen Shuffle XL Lite resin printer, of superior size and performance, and which this article is about.

Although the very fast Phrozen Sonic Mini resin printer was an excellent option to enter the world of resin printing (or also called stereolithography), with this new model the Taiwanese company Phrozen takes a qualitative leap as far as benefits and characteristics are concerned.

With the resin printer Phrozen Shuffle XL Litewe are faced with an 8.9 “LCD that allows us to achieve much higher print volumes, and helps to alleviate that feeling by providing us with a wider spectrum of work to be done.

In case you are interested, the Phrozen Shuffle XL Lite printer is available at the following direct links and Marketplaces. Some of them are affiliate links, that means that if you use them 3DWork you will receive a small commission that will help maintain the website.

In addition to the Phrozen printer itself, it includes the typical basic set of tools to operate with this type of machine, something that is the norm for most manufacturers.

Already in the upper part we can see the typical column with a vertical displacement spindle that forms the Z axis of the printer. I have to say that in other resin printers that have fallen into my hands with lower printing volumes, I have lacked a certain rigidity in this regard. But in the Phrozen Shuffle XL Lite with double linear guide and with an oversized machined column, this feeling disappears completely.

As you can see in the image above, Phrozen has chosen to add a second linear guide to its Z axis mechanics. In this type of printers (FormLabs, Mars, Photon, etc.) and especially if they are small, we usually find a single linear guide next to an 8mm trapezoidal spindle.

Phrozen considerably improves this aspect of the printer and puts at our disposal 2 robust 15mm (width) linear guides that give the machine maximum precision and rigidity when moving on this axis.

It should be noted that, although it might be advisable, it is not necessary to level the machine after each print. In my case, I have only leveled the Phrozen Shuffle XL Lite once and I have removed more than 10 pieces without any problem, something that is sincerely appreciated.

At the point of the touch interface, we find that Phrozen has replaced the previous 2.8″ Touch display with a larger 3.5″ inch. Although, with the previous display, it was very comfortable to work, the increase in inches of the new display is appreciated. And I say this because the handling is quite simple, since the available options and menus are extremely minimalist.

Phrozen has chosen to include high definition panels in its printers, to maximize its resolution despite the increase in surface area. Specifically in the Shuffle XL Lite printers, it assembles a Sharp 2K RGB 8.9″ LCD panel.

This panel offers us a resolution in X and Y of up to 75µm, which although it is somewhat smaller than its little sister the Sonic Mini, is practically imperceptible to the human eye.

Also, the UV (or matrix) light source is the same size as the LCD panel. The objective is to reduce the LED emission angle as much as possible, so that the light reaches as parallel as possible to the LCD panel.

This technology is called ParaLED and its function is to increase the efficiency of light that passes through the LCD and to improve cure speed and print quality.

You can scratch a millimeter with diagonal positioning on the Z axis and turning the pieces a little, this limitation will always accompany you by the hand. With the Shuffle XL Lite we expanded this feature, as well as the possibility of acquiring more jobs for it that were previously impossible for us.

Although many models of resin printers do not have network connectivity, this is not the case with the Shuffle. Here we will have the possibility of sending our models remotely to the printer, which is quite practical since it avoids the task of copying the files to a USB disk and moving to where we have the printer (in my case in a different room for the smells).

As the Shuffle printer does not have internal storage, you should always make sure that you have the USB disk connected to your machine, since that is where ChiTuBox will copy the file to be printed.

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are some pieces that I made with the Phrozen Shuffle XL Lite. In each and every one I used Aqua-Gray 4K, a special low-shrinkage and high-resolution resin that Phrozen sells for all types of printers, and especially recommended for 2K and 4K resolutions.

Phrozen continues with the same trend of ease of use and handling, something that is common in most of its products. With this new 3D printer model, high-volume printing is available to everyone and, most importantly, at a relatively affordable price for many of our pockets.

Innovations within this type of technology are inexorably advancing, and Phrozen with its new range of printers with Monochrome LCDs, has been demonstrating for some time that is always at the forefront of this constant evolution.

My experience of using this new printer has been pleasantly satisfactory, and what has impressed me the most is its “eternal” printing volume. For the rest, a 32-bit Chitu electronics, together with the monochrome screen and the quality of the rest of the components, assure us a life of use much higher than the current RGB LCD printers.

In short, if you are looking for a versatile, monochrome resin printer with high resolution (2K) that allows you to produce larger-scale prototypes Shuffle XL Lite is an excellent option to consider, especially if you prioritize a good price/quality ratio.

If you are looking for a versatile, monochrome resin printer with high resolution (2K) that allows you to produce larger-scale prototypes, Shuffle XL Lite is an excellent option to consider, especially if you prioritize a good quality / price ratio.
