Manhattan Skyline has announced that Emerging Display Technologies (EDT) will release TFT LCDs to replace those discontinued by Mitsubishi Electric. The Japanese company announced in June 2020 that it will no longer produce small and medium sized TFT LCD modules, used for industrial and automotive applications.

Taiwanese manufacturer, EDT, has grown from a monochrome display manufacturer, to provide a portfolio of colour TFT displays, offering capacitive touch models, touchscreen displays, touch panels and cover lenses.

It has developed a series of display modules aimed as compatible replacements, with the same size, resolution and mechanical outline structure. Initially, the company offers 8.4-inch (ET084030DVA), 10.4-inch (ET104030DSA) and 12.1-inch (ET121030DVA) modules, all with 1024 x 768 resolution. More options will be added, says the company.

The controller board is integrated with the display as one compact module. It includes all necessary circuits to control the TFT display module, backlight, PCAP Touch sensor and the GUI application and a custom designed Cover Lens can be added.

This series of highly integrated modules are intended to be used as Intelligent Display Modules with Capacitive Touch panel and Integrated Driver board with MCU, Memory and a number of interfaces.

EDT"s STN character displays are simple displays with LED and few different backlighiting color options. As standard you can find the display sizes that present 16 characters x 4 rows, 20 characters x 2 rows, 20 characters x 4 rows and 40 characters x 2 rows.

CSTN displays are STN displays panels with colors (CSTN = a color STN). Due to lower manufacturing costs the CSTN and STN display panels are used in industial and medical equipment that require only small or medium size displays / screens.
