For 2023, the Z650 receives Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC), Kawasaki’s advanced traction control system that provides both enhanced sport riding performance and the peace of mind under certain conditions to negotiate low-traction surfaces with confidence. The system looks at a number of parameters to get an accurate, real-time picture and allows riders to select between two modes to suit their riding situation and preference. Mode 1 is the least intrusive, helping to manage traction during cornering and designed with sport riding in mind. This mode facilitates acceleration out of corners by maximizing forward drive from the rear wheel. In Mode 2, intervention occurs earlier, meaning when excessive wheel spin is detected the engine output is reduced to allow grip to be regained. This helps riders navigate wet pavement or bad stretches of road. Additionally, riders may elect to turn the system off.

A 649cc parallel-twin engine that matches perfectly to its sporty lightweight chassis powers the Z650. Its 4.3” all-digital TFT color instrumentation gives the cockpit of the motorcycle a high-tech, high-grade appearance, offering full-color display features and great visibility. The Z650’s sharp Sugomi styling is bold in appearance and includes LED headlights. A thick and wide urethane passenger seat provides the comfort necessary when riding with a passenger. Thanks to Smartphone Connectivity through RIDEOLOGY THE APP*, a number of functions can be accessed, logged, and reviewed contributing to an enhanced motorcycling experience.

Striking Sugomi styling, easy control and accessible power invoke the Kawasaki Z spirit. Full Led lights (new), KTRC Traction Control (new) and the color TFT display deliver the latest tech. The Z650 will energize your senses and inspire your every ride.

• TFT delivers a high level of visibility. The screen’s background color is selectable (black or white), and screen brightness adjusts automatically to suit available light.

• Display functions include: digital speedometer, digital barstyle tachometer, gear position indicator, shift lamp, fuel gauge, odometer, dual trip meters, current and average fuel consumption, remaining range, average speed, total time, coolant temperature, clock, battery voltage, Kawasaki service reminder, oil change reminder and the Kawasaki Economical Riding Indicator.

• Detailed riding logs including GPS information and vehicle running information can be recorded. While riding, the app tracks vehicle speed, rpm, gear position, throttle position, front brake fluid pressure, acceleration/deceleration, current mileage, and coolant temperature from moment to moment. Once the riding log has been paired, riders can review these items in a graphic-style display at any point along the route. The app can also display a ride summary, with information that may include: route travelled, total distance, total time, gas mileage (best/average), speed (best/average), max lean angle (right/left), etc. For either display mode, riders can select which items are displayed, and can arrange them in their preferred order.

The new alldigital TFT colour instrumentation – a Kawasaki first in the 650cc class – gives the cockpit a high-tech, highgrade appearance. The new meter also offers additional features unavailable on the previous model.

Kawasaki revealed the 2022 model update of its acclaimed Versys 650, which has been long overdue. The model receives some small but meaningful changes.Versys 650 gets a new face, TFT display and traction control

The Versys 650 has finally gotten the update it’s been waiting for and the bike now has the same 5-inch TFT display seen across most of Kawasaki’s updated model range. This display also brings Bluetooth connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app. The Versys 650 finally also gets traction control that will be available in two modes. Mode 1 will be a little less intrusive while Mode 2 offers early intervention in low-grip surfaces. The system can also be turned off.

Visually, the bike gets a more menacing-looking face with a new LED headlamp set-up. The side and upper fairing cowls have been redesigned and there’s a pair of more aerodynamic mirrors. It also gets a 6.5-inch TFT with its own unique smartphone app. In terms of comfort, the H2 SX SE now gets larger seats and a new version of Showa’s electronically controlled Skyhook suspension.

The Z series of motorcycles from Kawasaki has evolved tremendously throughout the years. The naked motorcycles are fast, nimble, and are brilliant to look at. The Z650 for this year gets cosmetic upgrades over the standard bike. Specifically, the ‘Firecracker Red" color is what is special for the Z lineup. Mechanically, it is identical to the standard model. The motorcycle will also be limited in production numbers.

If there is one department where the Z650 shines bright, it has to be the engine. The water-cooled, 649cc, parallel-twin, eight-valve engine remains untouched, meaning in full-power trim, you have a healthy 68 HP and 47lb-ft of torque to play with. This is one of those engines that requires absolutely no work, apart from the periodic fluid changes and wear and tear part replacements. The 649cc engine has been in production for a long time, speaking for itself. The motor is indestructible and is rev-happy. The heat management is also advanced and keeps the rider"s leg from feeling the temperature.

The Z650 has always been a great-looking motorcycle and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. Things only get better for the 50th-anniversary edition, and there is a whole ‘Firecracker Red’ paint scheme that makes the bike look even better. The Z900 inspired styling is almost timeless. Along with the paint, there is new stickering and new paint for the alloy wheels. As per Kawasaki, the dark blue and silver highlights across the bike work well in contrast with the red color. The Z emblem and the Kawasaki logo are finished in gold to further distinguish them from their standard counterparts.

The Z650 comes with the 41mm KYB conventional forks at the front and the KYB mono-shock with adjustable spring load at the rear. The Z650 is a competent motorcycle during high-speed straight-line riding and sweeping corners. The 50th Anniversary edition carries all the essential features like ABS, assist & slipper clutch, and multiple riding modes, all of which make this naked middleweight quite impressive for the price. Along with that, LED headlights and taillights are available as standard too.

The bike carries forward the TFT dash display, which offers all the required information like gear indicators, trip information, etc. The rider can monitor and connect with the Z650 with the Rideology smartphone app, which gives information related to riding logs, telephone notices, navigation updates, and much more. The braking department is also well managed by the dual Nissin 2-piston calipers with dual 300 mm petal discs at the front, and the rear gets the Nissin 1-piston caliper with 220 mm disc. The excellent hardware coupled with ABS makes the Z650 stop instantaneously.

The MSRP for the Z650 50th Anniversary edition is $8,299, and a premium price of $250 over the standard model of the Z650. Kawasaki is celebrating an important milestone in its prestigious history and has given the masses the special edition for the Z range of motorcycles. The styling looks fresh and does justice to the heritage of the motorcycle. The Z650 still happens to be a good value for money proposition. The performance is adequate to keep experienced riders thrilled and tame enough to help beginner riders get a feel of multi-cylinder motorcycles.
