From the second you get this card out of the box, you can tell it is an absolute beast! It’s massive and heavy, and it is absolutely amazing how big GPUs have gotten in the last year! Gigabyte has gone with a bit of a unique fan design for the RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G. The middle fan is going to rotate in the opposite direction of the two out fans which is supposed to create more pressure and allow for better cooling. This is a feature we would love to test out ourselves and see how good it works, but it would be rather hard. This means we have to take Gigabytes R&D teams word for the cooling performance gains that is offers.

So, what do you do with a massive graphics card? Well, you add an LCD monitor to the side of it so you can add custom pics and GIFs to it because why not? The screen can also be used to monitor GPU temps, clocks and more should that be more your thing. Moving along, we can now also see two 8-pin and a single 6-pin power connector. The shroud takes up most of the side and there is only a small bit of the heatsink on show here. However, with the size and power of this card, I am sure Gigabyte have made sure that the cooling is on point so no need to worry there.

As we see a lot of times on the higher end cards there is an OC/Silent BIOS switch on the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G. When your system is powered off, you can switch between the two by flipping the switch to meet your desired needs. This is great for when you need that extra power and really want to get as much out of the GPU and do it as easily as possible!

With a card this big and beefy comes a need for a lot of power! Gigabyte has things covered with two 8-pin and a single 6-pin power connector. Not only has this helped to allow for a better factory overclock, but it will also allow you to get that extra bit of power out of it on your own, should that be your type of thing.

On the side of the card that generally won’t be seen as it’s facing the motherboard, Gigabyte has kept the shroud design similar to the other side. I think it would have been nice to maybe see a bit more of the heatsink, at least on this side if nothing else. While there is no doubt in my mind that the RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G will keep cool as it needs to, it could always be a little bit cooler. Revealing that little bit more of the heatsink may allow for just that tiny extra bit of heat to escape the card.

FINALLY! Someone has got the outputs right! We have three Display Ports and three HDMI ports on the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G. With most other newer GPUs we are seeing only two Display Ports and a single HDMI port which is a bit of a shame. Must say, well done to Gigabyte on this as a lot of people will likely still have HDMI monitors and now will be able to use them with ease.

The LCD screen is a cool little feature. Granted it doesn’t help with performance at all but it is surely fun to play with and will allow you to add something cool to your build. Gigabyte has a little egg that cracks on it but as mentioned, this can be changed quite easily with Gigabyte’s software.

There are three RGB zones on the Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti AORUS MASTER 8G, all of which can be controlled VIA their RGB FUSION 2.0 software. For the size of the card and heatsink/shroud, the RGB areas aren’t overly big which is nice as they won’t be overpowering.

In this article, we will look into several factors that determine an ideal LCD panel for a content creator or workstation laptop, including factors such as pixel density, color gamuts, color accuracy, and more. In our previous article on laptop displays for gamers, we"ve seen some of the important aspects that govern LCD panel choice and performance. This article aims to be an extension of that and will focus on some critical factors that professional users would look into while purchasing a workstation laptop.

Unlike gamers who can make do with fairly decent color accuracy and color-gamut coverage, creative pros require these parameters to be the best they can get. Working with high-resolution images and video for critical projects demands not only the required processing horsepower but also a capable display that is as true to real life as possible.

Pixel density, also known as pixels per inch (PPI), refers to the number of pixels per square inch of the display. The higher the pixel density, the more information can be displayed on the screen. Pixel density also correlates with the resolution of the display. For example, the pixel density of a 15.6-inch FHD display comes to around 141 while a UHD display on the same screen size yields 282.4 pixels per inch. Therefore, many more pixels can be accommodated in case of the UHD display on the same screen area, resulting in much more detail, sharper fonts, smoother lines, and overall a greatly enhanced viewing experience.

In our previous article, we gave an introduction to the concept of color gamut. Basically, color gamut specifies the range of colors that the display can show in comparison to the colors perceived by the human eye. Displays with wider color gamuts are of utmost importance to content creators, especially those who work on photography and color-sensitive video-editing.

Commonly used standards include sRGB, NTSC, and AdobeRGB.Most LCD panels in the market list out the color gamut standards they adhere to and the extent of coverage. Professionals tend to look at the AdobeRGB coverage as it allows for more vivid colors than what sRGB can. There can be a lot of variation in color gamuts, so a standardized system helps to determine if the LCD monitor is displaying the colors it should.

sRGB is the commonly used color gamut standard across LCD monitors, printers, and most digital cameras. However, the overall color range of sRGB is very limited and does not include highly saturated colors. Adobe RGB overcomes this limitation, and panels supporting this color gamut standard can display a much more vivid color profile, especially when considering the greens. The image below illustrates this nicely.

With this information in mind, let us have a look at the color-gamut coverage of a high-end MSI content creator laptop. We see that the laptop"s display can cover nearly 100% of both the sRGB and the AdobeRGB color standards. This is an excellent color reproduction for a content creation notebook. MSI equips most of its laptops with True Color technology from Portrait Displays Inc. to ensure color gamut reproduction as close as possible to 100% sRGB or 100% AdobeRGB.

True Color encompasses a suite of features that offer users a lot of control in fine-tuning the color profile. With True Color, users can share color profiles, adjust color temperature, and sync their settings across supported displays.

Delta E is a measure of the color difference that can be perceived by a human eye. In general, a Delta E value of 1 implies that two colors can be just about differentiated by the human eye while a Delta E of 0 implies that the colors are mathematically the same. Delta E values less than 2 are imperceptible due to limitations in human eyesight.Those requiring accurate color reproduction look out for the Delta E value that is calibrated at the factory. While content creator laptop displays generally have very low Delta E, depending on the display type, it is also possible to furthercalibrate the display and reduce the Delta E to less than 1.0. LCD panels with lower Delta E values display more accurate colors that are true-to-life as possible.

I have a XPS 8950 desktop with a Nvidia RTX 3070 that I received last week. I plugged my HDMI cable from my RTX video card into my TV and logged in. I then proceeded to update Windows from Windows Update. An Intel Corporation update failed and I had also chosen to install an optional update for Windows 11 Version 22H2.

As part of the update, the pc had to restart. The TV that the HDMI cable was plugged into did not turn back on. I then had to get a DisplayPort cable and connect this from my onboard graphics to the TV as well as enable Multi Display in the BIOS. When the pc starts up, the TV now turns back on and gets to the Windows login screen, but only when using the onboard graphics. If I disable the Multi Display, when using the onboard graphics, the pc does not get to the Windows login screen and displays the following image.

When getting to the login screen, I can now connect the HDMI cable from the RTX card to the TV and the TV displays correctly. I can also connect the DisplayPort cable from the RTX card to the TV and the TV displays correctly. However, these two things do not work from startup. The only way for me to get to the login screen is with the onboard graphics slot.

Why would this be? All my software is updated, including the BIOS. I think it has something to do with a Windows 11 Version 22H2 update. This is because when I was updating this update a second time, a recovery screen displayed when my pc was restarting with some information that an error may have occurred.

I am dealing with the same problem! Luckily for me it is a demo floor machine. I "borrowed" the transfer lift clutches for a field machine, and when I put the clutches back on our demo floor MX-4070 the LCD display will not come on? I can hear the machine going through warm up, but no display? I have tried the mSATA card, LVDS PWB, ribbon cable from the LVDS PWB to SCU PWB, all with no luck. I know that the display works as I have tried it on another machine. I thought that maybe I was missing a connector? I went back through (at least 5 times) and found no loose connectors? Sorry I don"t have a solution, but I wanted to let you know you are not alone! I would start with the mSATA card. If I get mine solved I will share what I found.
