I set the colour of one to green background and dark green font and a large font size, entering the text Test 01 and setting and put it on display that text which it did.

I left the colours and font size of the second on default and entered the text 20 tset and set it to display and... it displayed what was on the first one, but the first one went blank...

Also, it is strange that the small slope corners have a aspect ratio of 4:1 while the small slope flats have an aspect ratio of 2:1 even though they have essentially the same screen space visually. A ratio of 3:1 fits much better for both sets of small screens.

The code that generates the texture size is pretty dang weird. It swaps between what the texture size defines, the height or the width. And the way that MathHelper.Log2 does things is kind of strange too.

Thus it is very difficultto tell how wide your screen will be without plugging them into this function to see what it will spit out for the texture size, then dividing 512 by that (which is what I did above).

It’s time for another major update. We have been very busy since the release of Space Engineers from Early Access. We continued working on the game improvements and in this update we focused on a new feature: Build Planner, and one new block: Small Cryo Pod and on customizable game elements, such as skins, emotes and armor skins.

For players who wish to support the further development of Space Engineers, we have created a Style Pack for $5.99USD which consists of two character skins, four character emotes and two armor skins. With this release, we are also bringing two new character skins to the game: NextGen and Fiber. Both character skins are only decorative and you can buy them in the Steam Item Store. The price will be set to $3.99USD per skin set. We decided to keep the same approach as with our last update, being that if you decide to not buy the Style Pack/character skins, you are still getting a major free update containing all the gameplay features! This gives you the opportunity to enjoy new things, but also the chance to support the further development of Space Engineers, if you are willing to do so.

A: The complexity and technical requirements are different for these two packs. We spent much more time working on the Style Pack than on the Decorative Pack. The Decorative Pack was also the first DLC we released after Space Engineers moved out of Early Access and it showed us that many members of our community are willing to support us. Therefore, we invested more time and effort to bring some game changing things to Space Engineers now and we plan to continue this for upcoming releases. Another reason is that we wanted to give the Decorative Pack to as many players as possible, and a reduced price definitely helps :)

It’s time for another exciting update for Space Engineers. The most obvious change is the fact that with this release we are bringing both free and premium content to the game. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy new things, but also the chance to support the further development of Space Engineers, if you are willing to do so.

All players will get new functional cockpit LCDs with customizable screens, replay tool, which can be used for setting up various animated scenes, brand new random Encounters, Steam trading cards, badges and backgrounds, and all bug fixes, optimizations, and smaller improvements for free.

A: Right after Space Engineers left early access and all hot issues were resolved. Most of the work was done by the Art team, the rest of the developers is working on other long-term updates.

A: We want more people to play Space Engineers, which means we must lower the barrier of entry. When the Space Engineers community grows, everyone benefits from this - more content on Workshop, more mods, more new ideas, more people to play with. This means that all non-mandatory features should be optional, so only those who really want them can pay for them. That’s why we decreased the price of Space Engineers, and made the Decorative Pack an optional purchase.

February 28, 2019 is the day for all Space Engineers. Today, we are moving Space Engineers out of Early Access. Getting Space Engineers out of Early Access has been planned for a long time. We have worked on it basically since 2016/2017, when the game entered beta. It was our goal to release the game in the state we consider to fulfill our original vision, including all planned features and core game components. Moreover, the game includes a lot of things that were not planned at the beginning of development (solar panels, planets, rotors, pistons, wheels, and many more features).

Space Engineers was one of the first Early Access games on Steam and one of the few titles to be successfully released after several years of passionate development. We keep our promises!

Space Engineers has been in Early Access for 5+ years, and during this period we developed the game from a proof-of-concept to a feature complete space engineering sandbox. We sold more than 3 million copies and we have more than 200,000 monthly active players.

Because Space Engineers development was open, you were able to see what’s happening under the hood. Contrary to other products, where you see the final product, but don’t see how the project has been developed and changed over time, and what challenges the development team had to overcome.

With this update, we are also setting a new price for Space Engineers to $19.99. According to our analysis and tests, this price better suits the majority of Space Engineers fans. This change also brings all regional prices on Steam to match countries specifications and regional differences.

We had to redo major parts of the engine and there was a lot of experimentation - for example changing the prediction protocol on client-server and observing if it’s better for user experience or worse, and many more. Space Engineers has many systems and special care had to be taken for each of them: player character, jetpack, ship, wheeled vehicles, voxels and planets, fast moving objects, deformable entities, antennas, player standing on a moving grid, colliding grids, rotors, pistons, wheels, and many many more.

With today’s major update we are releasing a large overhaul to the physics in Space Engineers. The update is primarily focusing on pistons, rotors, landing gears, and grid deformations. These mechanics have been a top priority for the SE team during the last year - to have these things be as robust, stable, and intuitive as possible. The game’s physics are now more stable and creations shouldn"t break, explode or do uncontrollable things under normal conditions with default settings. Hello, Engineers! Today’s update comes with an exciting new addition - the Skin Recycler! With this, you can recycle your unwanted or duplicate skins and upgrade them to a new Badger skin! The recycler will give you recycle tokens for your old skin pieces, which you can trade in for new items of your choice. All of this is done in the character customization screen.

Hello, Engineers! Today"s minor release comes with a sizeable batch of general improvements. The team has been working hard on both fixes and features of upcoming updates and are looking forward to seeing in the hands of our players. Issues fixed in this week"s update include the dampeners HUD icon showing the incorrect state, controls being inverted when two players pilot a single grid and inventory scrolling not working properly. Additionally there"s more sound improvements. For example, you will notice a new sound when walking with activated magnetic boots and footstep sounds should now be in sync with animation.

Issues fixed include a number of audio issues like wheel sounds playing even when a vehicle is not moving and choking sounds being heard by all players. This week’s minor is continuing the current run of general improvements as we near the release of the next major update. We know a lot of you really can’t wait for this but it’s crucial that we fix as many bugs as possible before going live with changes to code as significant as the ones in the upcoming major. The main issues fixed in today’s update include terminals taking you to the incorrect block in the control panel and automatic turrets shooting subgrids of their own grid. Additionally, corner and interior lights should no longer appear emissive when turned off or not supplied with power.

Hello, Engineers! It’s a new minor update this week containing more general improvements as we grow ever closer to the next major release, the changelog of which is growing bigger and bigger day! If you missed it, watch last week’s video to hear about some of the optimisations that will be going into that release. Hello, Engineers! We’ve got a minor update for you this week after last week’s major update, and the team have been busy processing various issues reported by the community on our forums. For example we’ve fixed problems with connectors and block placement on dedicated servers. Small grid rotor displacement settings should now be saved in blueprints too. Additionally, a number of crashes were also resolved. It’s been great to read everyone’s feedback and to hear that many players have seen big performance gains in their worlds. In today’s work in progress section We would like to talk about the render optimizations showcased earlier this week. We demonstrated how a world with 16 red ships would run at around 45FPS on a system running the current version of game. In comparison, the exact same scenario was then loaded on a prototype version with the render optimizations included and ran at around 60FPS! One of the improvements which helped to achieve this was making the GPU be no longer limited by the CPU.

Hello, Engineers! Today’s release is a major one bringing you some of the biggest optimizations in the game’s history. For example, the 16 players and 16 red ships multiplayer scenario ran at a sim speed of 0.25 before optimizations and now it runs at 1.0! We achieved this by reducing blocks per frame updates, reducing world matrix calculations per frame, and by enabling multithreaded physics. The team still plans to continue with further optimizations in areas like ship collisions, explosions, loading times, planets, memory usage and more! Additionally, We are also pleased to announce that the multiplayer synchronization code has been optimized further.

Hello Engineers! There’s a batch of art and animation fixes in today’s minor update as the team moves ever closer to the next major update which will contain significant improvements to performance and multiplayer. Issues with model fixed this week include incorrect LODs on a number of blocks like the small grid merge block and small grid camera but also missing textures on blocks such as wheel suspension and the large ship welder. Moving on now to a couple of the notable animation issues that were fixed, using hand tools will no longer stretch the engineer’s arms and rifles should now aim where the crosshair is pointing.

In other news, next Monday we will be streaming at 8PM CEST on the Keen Community Network over on Twitch. During the stream, together with Marek and Deepflame, we’ll be talking more about things being worked on and also taking a look at Medieval Engineers and it’s future plans. For almost 15 years, Calibri has reigned as the default and therefore dominant font choice for Microsoft systems. It has appeared countless times in unformatted Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets, a typographical reprieve for the decision-paralyzed. But now there’s a new sans serif in town. Actually, five of them: Microsoft announced that it plans to replace Calibri as the default font with one of five new typefaces it released this week.

De Groot created Calibri in the early 2000s, as part of a collection of fonts for enhanced screen reading. “I designed it in quite a hurry,” he says. “I had some sketches already, so I adapted those and added these rounded corners to get some design feeling in it.” For a long time, computer displays lacked the pixel density to faithfully render all fonts; rounded corners appeared not as an arch but a stair. That changed in 2000 with Microsoft’s new ClearType technology, which optimized the resolution on LCD screens and made fonts like de Groot’s easier to read. The company liked Calibri enough to make it the default for Windows Vista in 2007.

Since then, Calibri has performed its duties with absolute modesty. It never became a typographical darling like Helvetica, but it didn’t create many enemies, either. “We’re not seeing customers turn against it, which does happen with fonts,” says Simon Daniels, the principal program manager at Microsoft Office Design. Nothing is wrong with Calibri. It’s simply that after almost two decades, Daniels figured it might be time to try something new.

“I often think of this Roger Black quote, which says that fonts are basically like clothing for your ideas,” says Daniels. “So what we’re saying is that Calibri has gone out of fashion.”

Rather than settle into a new look right away, though, Microsoft is giving itself some time to consider the options. Daniels commissioned five new fonts from leading type designers, each one bringing a fresh take on what a default font could be: Tenorite is crisp and circular, with round punctuation marks. Bierstadt is more restrained, paying homage to mid-century Swiss typography. Skeena is a “humanist” sans serif; Grandview, an “industrial” one. Seaford takes inspiration from the shape of armchairs: comfortable but ergonomic.

After being defeated repeatedly by Japan and Western nations in the 19th century, Chinese reformers began promoting modern science and technology as part of the Self-Strengthening Movement. China has become one of the world"s biggest sources for research and development personnel. Between 2000 and 2008, the number of engineers and scientists more than doubled to 1.59 million. Relative to population size this is still low compared to major developed nations like the United States and Japan but the gap is rapidly closing.PhD engineering graduates, and as many as 500,000 BSc graduates in engineering, mathematics, information technology, and computer science – more than any other country.

China has increasingly encouraged multinational corporations to create R&D centers in China. Chinese critics have argued that foreign owned R&D mainly benefits foreign companies and removes many talented Chinese researchers from indigenous companies and institutions. Chinese supporters have argued that the foreign R&D serves as a role model and encouragement for indigenous companies and creates skilled communities from which labor and knowledge can easily flow to indigenous companies. In 2010 there were 1,200 such R&D centers and 400 out the Fortune 500 corporations had created such R&D centers. Corporations have argued that this is a necessity in order to adapt products for the local requirements of the Chinese market as well as it being essential for maintaining global competitiveness to make use the many available Chinese engineers and scientists. China is now ranked first when multinational corporations are asked in which nation future R&D centers are most likely to be located.

A 2005 report found serious shortcomings to China"s national innovation system. There were problems with services to help turn S&T work into results and the allocation of national funding to support S&T was far from optimal. Sometimes researchers became short-sighted if they get too close to the market. Another serious problem was that companies facing severe competition looked first to purchase foreign technology rather than investing in developing technology and technology development capacity at home in China. Many of the patent applications came from medium-sized enterprises (70%) since small enterprises invest little in research.

Chinese state-owned enterprises are owned by a variety of actors such as local governments and governmental agencies. They may benefit from advantages not available for smaller, more innovative firms which have been seen as problematic. In 2010 state owned enterprises won many biddings for renewable energy projects since they did not have worry about paying off investments for several decades and could ignore risks and costs. The owners may attempt to protect their enterprises from competition by regulations or otherwise use their influence in an unfair manner which may stifle more innovative, private competitors. Private enterprises surpassed stated owned enterprises during the 2002-2007 period regarding rapidity of increase of research spending, patent applications, and R&D laboratories. The number of research scientists and engineers increased rapidly in private enterprises while they declined in state owned enterprises.

The 13th Five-Year Plan for the National Economy and Social Development (2016–2020) will initiate the key Scientific and Technological Innovation 2030 Project in the following key areas: aero-engines and gas turbines; a deep sea station; quantum communication and quantum computers; brain sciences and brain research. The project also encompasses nine other sub-projects, including an innovative seed industry, smart grid, space-terrestrial information network, intelligent manufacturing and robots.

The BBC wrote in a 2011 article on high-speed rail in China that China in 2005 had no high-speed railways. In 2010 it had more than Europe and in 2012 China was expected to have more than the rest of the world combined. China demanded that foreign companies wanting to participate had to share their technology. Some 10,000 Chinese engineers and academics then in three years produced a faster Chinese high-speed train that China is now exporting to other nations.

This model’s compact size and comfy keyboard make operating it with one hand easy. It also has a large and bright display, an intuitive interface, and a convenient rechargeable battery.

The Dymo LabelManager 420P has the best display for making and formatting labels, a rechargeable battery, and a keyboard that’s comfortable to type on. Its narrow keyboard design makes carrying it one-handed around the office easy, and its rechargeable battery alleviates the stress of having to keep a stock of AA batteries for every time the charge runs out. It also has the ability to plug into a PC or Mac for using different fonts and more easily tweaking labels before printing them.

Among the label makers we tested, the Dymo has the largest display, which makes it the best for fine-tuning your label’s font, size, formatting, and margins, as well as previewing the labels before printing. The display was slightly dimmer than that on the Brother PT-D450, but it still provided enough light to be visible even in a dark room. At four lines, the Dymo’s screen was able to preview more information at once than any other label maker we tested, which comes in handy when you’re typing out longer labels.

While we were skeptical of the Dymo’s narrow keyboard, we actually found that it was easier to operate one-handed than other models we tested. It had other benefits too: Where other label makers (like Brother’s PT-D450, PT-D400, and PT-D210) make you hold down the shift button as you type (like a standard keyboard), the Dymo’s shift key sticks (like on iOS or Android) so you don’t have to hold it down as you press a letter key. On such a small form factor, this saved us a lot of frustration during our testing. Despite its size, the Dymo also houses more functional buttons, like save, format, print, and a four-direction navigation pad, than the competition.

For times where the on-screen interface feels too cramped, like when you’re making a lot of changes to the label’s font, the Dymo can connect to a Mac or PC and use Dymo’s dedicated printing app. The app provides a quicker way to add clip art and more custom fonts from Google and Apple’s font libraries, which provides a greater variety for labels. The app resembles a pared down Microsoft Word and was easy to navigate in our testing, but it won’t come in handy unless you’re looking to do some granular formatting of your labels.

For things like water bottles, file folders, or organizing cables, you probably won’t need to print more than one line of text per label. But if you need to print address labels or contextual descriptions in your scrapbook, the Dymo can print up to four lines of text, as long as you’re using 19 mm tape, as thinner sizes are too cramped to fit that much text.

At 15 labels, the Dymo is on the lower end of the memory size we’ve seen, but that should be plenty for most people who frequently reprint labels. If you need more memory, the Brother PT-D450 has 50 slots.

The various LCD Panel blocks are a great way to add a human touch to a ship or base by displaying useful images or text. For LCD configuration and usage, see LCD Surface Options.

Note: Some functional blocks, such as Cockpits, Programmable Blocks, Custom Turret Controllers, and Button Panels, have customizable LCD surfaces built in that work the same way as LCD Panel blocks, which are also discussed in detail under LCD Surface Options.

LCD Panels need to be built on a powered grid to work. Without power, they display an "Offline" text. While powered without having a text, image, or script set up, they display "Online".

LCD Panel blocks come in a variety of sizes from tiny to huge (see list below) and are available for large and small grid sizes. Note that LCD Panel blocks all have connections on their backs, and very few also on a second side.

All LCD Panels and LCD surfaces work with the same principle: They are capable of displaying dynamic scripts, or few inbuilt static images accompanied by editable text. Access the ship"s Control Panel Screen to configure LCD Panels or LCD surfaces; or face the LCD Panel block and press "K".

A Text Panel, despite its name, can also display images. On large grid, it is rectangular and does not fully cover the side of a 1x1x1 block. On small grid it is 1x1x1, the smallest possible LCD block in game.

On large grid, you choose the Text Panel when you need something that has rectangular dimensions that make it look like a wall-mounted TV or computer screen. If you want to display images, this one works best with the built-in posters whose names end in "H" or "V" (for horizontal or vertical rotation). On Small grid, you place these tiny display surfaces so you can see them well while seated in a cockpit or control seat, to create a custom display array of flight and status information around you.

Corner LCDs are much smaller display panels that typically hold a few lines of text. They don"t cover the block you place them on and are best suited as signage for doors, passages, or containers. They are less suitable for displaying images, even though it"s possible. If you enable the "Keep aspect ratio" option, the image will take up less than a third of the available space.

These huge Sci-Fi LCD Panels come in sizes of 5x5, 5x3, and 3x3 blocks, and can be built on large grids only. These panels are only available to build if you purchase the "Sparks of the Future" pack DLC.

They work the same as all other LCD Panels, the only difference is that they are very large. In the scenario that comes with the free "Sparks of the Future" update, they are used prominently as advertisement boards on an asteroid station.

This LCD panel can be built on large and small grids. The transparent LCD is basically a 1x1x1 framed window that displays images and text. It is part of the paid "Decorative Blocks Pack #2" DLC.

What is special about them is that if you set the background color to black, this panel becomes a transparent window with a built-in display. In contrast to other LCD Panels it has no solid backside, which makes it ideal to construct transparent cockpit HUDs, or simply as cosmetic decoration.

While configuring an LCD Panel, the GUI covers up the display in-world and you can"t see how the text or images comes out. In the UI Options, you can lower the UI Background opacity to be translucent, so you can watch what you are doing more easily.

Fit to fill takes the portion of the clip that you have marked and adds a speed change to speed it up or slow it down. The speed change is automatically calculated so it fits into the space you have selected on the timeline.

To create 2D or 3D titles, open the effects library at the top left of the screen, find the text generator or Fusion title template you want, and drag it into the timeline above your video tracks. Then use the inspector to type your text and adjust parameters such as font, size, color and more. The basic title generators let you build simple titles and lower thirds from scratch. The subtitle generator can be used to create perfectly timed subtitles. There are also dozens of Fusion title templates, which are professionally designed, pre-built 2D and 3D animated titles that you can customize to create professional looking cinematic titles without having to be a motion graphics expert!

Clip settings can be viewed in the inspector at the top right of the screen. You can change or animate any setting over the clip’s duration using the diamond keyframe buttons. Simply select a clip to see its parameters, adjust a setting, click the keyframe button, move the playhead to a different frame and repeat the process! You can also use the on screen controls to animate common transform parameters such as position, size and rotation. For even more control, click on the small keyframe and curve icons on the animated clips in the timeline to open the keyframe and curve editors. These allow you to move keyframes, adjust timing and set animation ease controls for virtually all parameters.

You can create picture in picture effects using the on screen controls in the viewer or by adjusting clip transformation settings in the inspector. The on screen controls can be enabled in the pop up menu at the bottom left of the timeline viewer. Just stack two clips in the timeline, select the one on top, and use the on screen controls to resize and reposition the clip anywhere in the frame. You can animate the effect by clicking the diamond keyframe button in the inspector, moving the playhead and then changing the position, rotation or scale of the clip. You can even drag a drop shadow from the effects library onto the clip in the timeline to make the picture in picture stand out!

Dynamic zoom is an incredibly easy and fast way to reframe and add gentle push in or pull out animations to any shot. Dynamic zoom is ideal for adding extra drama and interest to shots which would otherwise be just static. Best of all, you don’t have to know anything about animation to use it! Just select a clip in the timeline, then turn on dynamic zoom in the inspector. When you have selected the clip, green and red boxes will appear in the viewer over your image. The green box shows where the shot will be framed at the beginning of the clip and the red box shows where it will be framed at the end. Simply drag and resize the boxes to your desired start and end positions, then press play!

The edit page includes an intuitive set of tools for closed captioning and subtitles including support for importing timed text TTML, SRT, XML and embedded MXF/IMF subtitles. You can relink subtitle entries in the media pool or create them from scratch, without the need for expensive third party software. Subtitles appear in the timeline above of your video tracks and can be moved and trimmed like any other media. You can switch between subtitle tracks for different languages and add multiple captions per track. In the inspector, adjust track styles, change font, color, size, position and more! Subtitles can be rendered into the final video or exported as separate TTMLs, SRT or VTT files.

DaVinci Resolve Studio features advanced facial recognition technology that helps you automatically organize footage into bins based on facial features of the people in each scene. Simply select a group of clips, right click and choose “Analyze for People”. In December 2007, VESA released DisplayID, a second generation of EDID. It is intended to replace all previous versions. DisplayID is a variable length data structure, of up to 256 bytes, that conveys display-related information to attached source devices. It is meant to encompass PC display devices, consumer televisions, and embedded displays such as LCD screens within laptops, without the need for multiple extension blocks. DisplayID is not directly backward compatible with previous EDID/E-EDID versions, but is not yet widely incorporated in AV products.

Basic Display Parameters/Features – The next five bytes define characteristics such as whether the display accepts analog or digital inputs, sync types, maximum horizontal and vertical size of the display, gamma transfer characteristics, power management capabilities, color space, and default video timing.

The PC is able to read the EDID information, but the graphics card limits the output resolution to XGA 1024x768, a resolution most displays can accommodate, ensuring a usable image and reducing the likelihood of no image being displayed. If this does not match the native resolution of the display, fonts will likely appear to be abnormally large, small, or fuzzy.

The Text Panel is a thin panel that sit centered on a block face and can display a variety of messages and textures that can be displayed constantly or triggered by the Programmable Block, Sensor, Timer Block, or any other block capable of triggering.

To access its settings, select it and pressing the "T" or "K" key. Selecting it and pressing "K", the "K-menu" is entered. The panel"s title and text can be made public, private, or a combination of both. Textures applied can be selected from a list or custom textures can be selected. Textures can be set to rotate on a timer, changing from one to the next. GPS coordinates shown in the GPS format in the text panel will appear in the GPS and can be activated (=shown on HUD).
